Overview

Our take on the B&O PLAY Beoplay H6 by Bang & Olufsen

Bang & Olufsen may be famous for their industrial design. But they know a few things about sound quality, too. Their Beoplay H6 headphones are a testament to that. They produce sound that's warm, lush, and listenable for hours at a time. Deep bass extension gives you plenty of low end, without overpowering your music or your ears. Midrange and high frequencies are particularly smooth and balanced. As great as these headphones sound, their design cannot be overlooked. Premium materials like genuine leather give the H6 a luxurious fit and feel. Naturally, these headphones exude the understated elegance that Bang & Olufsen products are known for.

Bang & Olufsen H6 headphones

A leather headband and lambskin-covered memory foam earpads add comfort and elegance to the audiophile sound quality of the Bang & Olufsen H6 headphones (shown in Natural Leather).

Well-built for comfort and looks

A great pair of headphones needs more than just outstanding sound quality. They should feel comfortable and inviting, both in your hands and on your ears. How do the H6 headphones achieve this? Memory foam earpads that are covered with soft lambskin offer a plush over-the-ear fit. The leather headband is both durable and stylish, while its interior is softly padded for long-lasting comfort. The aluminum frame lends durability to these headphones without weighing them down, so they're as wearable as they are listenable.

Calls and control with your iPhone®

Keep control of your iPhone, iPod®, or iPad® while you listen with the H6's in-line remote. It offers volume and track control, so you can skip songs, play and pause the music, and kick the volume up with the press of a button. There's also a tiny built-in microphone for taking calls while your iPhone remains in your pocket or bag.

Two cable connections

The Beoplay H6's included miniplug cable connects into either the left or right earcup — a nice touch of flexibility. These dual cable connectors also let you daisy-chain two pairs of headphones together. That means two people can listen to the same song from the same device simultaneously.

The sound was fine; they looked stylish; but they became uncomfortable after just a few minutes of wear. They seemed very tight and the ear pads had not much "give" to the padding. I wear headphones for long periods of time and I grew tired of these after just a week. I returned them in favor of much more expensive Grado's which are a delight to wear.

Cons:

True high end headphones, worth every penny !

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am stepping up from a very good pair of Bose quite comfort headphones, and didn't think that the B&O's would sound any better. They do! They are more natural sounding and play bass only when there is bass to play, they sound so clean and fresh. No muted tones or muddy notes, a real upgrade for the person who want's to hear what is really on your soundtrack.

Pros: Great fit, very nice looking, well built, awesome sound, cover the ear very well which only adds to the outside noise cancelling.

Cons: none

Sound for your ears

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My first purchase of high end headphones and these have been outstanding from the start.

Pros: Over the ear comfort from the leather makes them light and soft for extended listening enjoyment. Inline volume control very convenient feature for quick sound adjustments.

Cons: Long periods of wear create a sort of heat that require an occasional lift from the ears. If they implemented some sort of air flow that did not impede sound would be a plus.

Accurate

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are very accurate for voice and string instruments. There is none of the harsh treble and booming bass to mask the original intended sound.

Pros: Comfortable, accurate

Cons: none

Beautiful & functional

I bought these headphones for my boyfriend who's a classical music geek. Of course he loves it and carries it everywhere. The headphones are designed very well, so it looks chic and dandy on him. Bang & Olufsen headphones are obviously the best headphones out there, and it will never let you down.

Pros: Great design, very clean and beautiful sound quality, good noise reduction. Perfect headphones for fashion & music ppl.

Cons: Didn't find any cons yet.

Another headphone brand? Really? Yes!!

Written by Chris, Advisor, on 11/7/2014 11:57:00 AM

There's no shortage of choices for us to listen to around here when it comes to "ear cans." When I first saw we'd picked these up, the headline above says it all. But after four complete albums, while listening to two offerings from B&O I can see why we brought them in.

These headphones are extremely easy to listen to. I had them paired with the Teac HA-P50. What a combo! I rank these right up there with some of the Grado headphones that I've fallen in love with the past few years.

What jumped out at me though, was the headphones' effortless bass reproduction. It's not boomy like it's being forced to create bass. And it's not in a narrow band that's obviously being pushed either. There is just bass, and it's nice bass. Just like it should be.
