Metra 70-7552 Receiver Wiring Harness

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the colour-coded wires on your Crutchfield-supplied harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you're not using a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors to secure the connections. Check out our handy article on three ways to connect the wiring harness here.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness makes installing your new stereo easier, and allows you to put the factory radio back when you sell your vehicle or return it at the end of the lease. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Features

Metra Wiring Harness: Metra wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Metra wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Metra wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Metra wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.

Ground Wire Note: The ground wire found in the wiring harness is only for select vehicles only. Confirm that your vehicle's wiring harness has a corresponding ground wire. If no wire is present, connect the ground wire of your aftermarket head unit to the vehicle's metal chassis.

Q
will this work for 2012 wrx ?
jcook  Mar 19, 2024
1 answer
A
We need to know more details about your specific vehicle to confirm any compatibility, Johnathan. This Metra 70-7552 harness is compatible with 2012 Subaru WRX's that did not come with the navigation feature originally, both sedan and wagon. This will not retain any steering wheel controls or other original features like AUX input or USB port. To see parts that are compatible with your exact trim WRX, make sure to use the online Vehicle Guide in the link below. If you need any help placing your order or confirming you are ordering the correct parts for your install, do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-324-9695 and a live Advisor would be happy to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Q
Will this work with 2014 Subaru cross trek m/t with 2 plugs in back of factory radio?
michael  Dec 24, 2023
1 answer
A
The Metra 70-7552 harness is not compatible with the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, Michael. For a basic wiring harness, you would need the Metra 70-1761 in the first link below. This harness would not retain any original features like steering wheel control buttons, backup camera, or the Starlink features when installing a new radio. Please use our Vehicle Guide in the second link below to enter your Subaru's key details, and we can pair gear that is a fit. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701761/Metra-70-1761-Receiver-Wiring-Harness.html https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Q
Will this fit a 2017 Nissan NV200? Other sites say it doesn't.
johnny  Aug 04, 2023
1 answer
A
Our researchers deconstructed this generation of NV200 and plugged the 70-7552 into the factory harness to check compatibility. Additionally, Metra lists this as a compatible option on their website.

Q
This does not fit the 32 pin connector in a 2016 rogue. What fits the 32 pin connector?
cam  Jun 07, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Cam, and thank you for your question. The Metra 70-7552 wire adapter is one of the options we list for the 2016 Rouge. The other is a 70-7553. That one is used for the Rouge with the factory Bose system. If you purchased the harness from Crutchfield, you will have a direct number to our technical support team that can help determine if you have the right adapter or not. If you purchased it elsewhere, you can always check with Metra as well, but they have the same 70-7552 harness listed for the 2016.

Will this harness fit a 2010 Subaru Forester?

Q
What gauge are the wires on the wiring harness?
justin  Dec 29, 2022
1 answer
A
That is a great question, Justin. This harness has 18AWG for yellow and black wires, and 20AWG for all other wires.

Q
What if my factory plug has a ground pin already? 2016 rogue
patman1111  Nov 08, 2022
1 answer
A
With this harness in Nissan vehicles (excluding NV models) you will want to connect the ground wire from the receiver directly to the vehicle chassis. One of the screws or bolts securing the receiver assembly to dash is a good location. It looks like if you are using this harness in a Subaru Vehicle you can use that black wire in the Metra 70-7552 harness, but not with your 2016 Rogue. I hope this helps!

Will this fit a 2019 nissan micra?

Q
I have a unlabeled brown white wire on this harness and cannot find a signal flow drawling anywhere that makes use of this on my 2018 Nissan Sentra with the JVC z1000w. There is a steering wheel control connecting option with this head deck so I think the mysterious brown with white stripe wire has something to do with it? Can anyone help with this?
patrick dennis  Sep 18, 2021

A
If you purchased the product from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. They can walk you through the connections on the product and see if there may be a fix. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. If you did not purchase the unit from Crutchfield, then you may want to contact the manufacturer.

Q
Will this fit a 2017 nissan versa note? The stock radio has 3 harnesses to plug into the new adapter
deadworld66  May 02, 2021
1 answer
A
This is the wiring harness we offer to help install a new radio into your Versa Note. There is also an FM antenna adapter that is needed and a mounting kit. Also, depending on the stock setup as well as the new radio being installed, we might be able to offer a wiring adapter to retain a factory installed backup camera. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check

How do I retain factory backup cam with new head unit?
michael  Jul 11, 2020

A
Check to see if your vehicle (year, make, model) has a specific wiring harness that will retain your rear view factory cam system.
harrison  Jul 30, 2021
A
You should chat with a Tech at Crutchfield if your car's backup cam's screen is not separate from your factory head unit.

Q
Will this harness work with the Kenwood dnx892?
phillip ryan  Mar 04, 2016

A
This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation.
kenneth  Mar 04, 2016 (Staff)
Q
does this harness have the steering wheel control wires?
jessica  Jun 30, 2015
2 answers
A
No it does not, spoke with Crutchfield about this and received a passing answer. Metra (and Crutchfield by selling this) cut corners and do not include the wires necessary to easily wire in their own steering wheel control adapter.
tim  Dec 29, 2018
A
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
