Features

Radio Replacement Interface for Toyota: The CRUX SWRTY-61S is a radio replacement interface for select 2003-2011 Toyota vehicles. It facilitates the integration of select aftermarket radios to enable retention of certain factory features when replacing a factory-installed radio. This enhanced interface retains the factory aux input and is also pre-programmed for retention of steering wheel controls.

Note: This CRUX adapter will only retain steering wheel audio controls with car stereos made by Pioneer, Sony, Jensen, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, JVC, and Blaupunkt.

Vehicle Compatibility: The CRUX SWRTY-61S is supported by the following Toyota vehicles; with non-amplified factory audio systems (as of 10/8/2014).

Make Model  Year
Toyota 4-Runner 2003-2013
Avalon 2005-2011
Camry 2007-2011
FJ Cruiser 2007-2011
Highlander 2008-2012
RAV4 2006-2011
Sequoia 2003-2011
Sienna 2004-2011
Solara 2004-2008
Tacoma 2005-2012
Tundra 2003-2013 (2013 early production)
Venza 2009-2011
Note: Does not support vehicles with factory JBL amplifier audio systems.

Supported Aftermarket Head Units: The CRUX SWRTY-61S radio replacement interface will only retain steering wheel audio controls with car stereos made by Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, JVC, Jensen, Dual/Axxera, Boss and other aftemarket head units with a steering wheel control input.

Steering Wheel Control Compatible: The CRUX SWRTY-61S features a steering wheel control output for compatible aftermarket head units. The steering wheel control output consists of a right-angle 3.5mm connector and a light blue/yellow wire (use the connection that your aftermarket head unit is fitted with). The SWRTY-61S interface module will work with any of the listed aftermarket head units, by setting its three dip-switches (see owner's manual for appropriate setting).

Note: The steering wheel control interface features two 4-pin connectors (labeled - "Pioneer/Sony" and "Alpine/Clarion/Kenwood/JVC"). You will only plug in one of these connectors to the interface module, based on the type aftermarket head unit you are installing.

Auxiliary Input Retention: For select 2007 up vehicles, you get to keep the factory auxiliary (3.5mm) input. The included harness contains male stereo RCA connectors which plug into your aftermarket head unit's rear-panel Aux input. If your aftermarket head unit contains a 3.5mm Aux input, then you will need a female stereo RCA to male stereo minijack adapter cable (sold separately).

Wiring Harness: The included harness features the following wires which will need to be hardwired (solder or crimped) to your aftermarket head unit's wiring harness.

Q
My 2006 4Runner does not have SWc or JBL, will this work?
kurt  Dec 25, 2023
1 answer
A
This would technically work, but the Metra 70-1761 would be a better option since we do not need to retain steering wheel controls. Here's a link to that harness set: www.crutchfield.com/p_120701761/item.html

Q
I'm capable of using this to wire into my DUAL on my 2009 Tacoma (without JBL), my only question is about the camera. Does this retain the factory camera?
spencer  Jan 27, 2023
1 answer
A
Radio replacement would not have an effect on retaining the factory backup camera in your 2009 Tacoma.

Q
I just bought this thinking that it would allow me to install my old cars Alpine ILX-W650, was I correct?

A
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
Do I still need to get the READY HARNESS too if I get this?
cory  Aug 05, 2018
1 answer
A
The ReadyHarness is a service where we connect the wires from this harness to the harness of the receiver you order with it. You can make those connections yourself if you like and if you plan on doing that, you won't need to order the ReadyHarness service. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
This is the wiring harness that was recommended when I was ordering my navigation receiver but on the package it says it is for Toyota Tundra's through 2011. Mine is a 2013. But, I looked at my order and there is a big green checkmark then it says "Fits my 2013 Toyota Tundra". So, is this the correct Wiring Harness?

If I don't have steering wheel controls or an aux port, do I still need this harness to install the receiver?
