About the PAC RPK4-HD1101 Dash and Wiring Kit

PAC RPK4-HD1101

You bought a select 2003-2007 Honda Accord — great car, but its console makes it impossible to upgrade the factory radio. PAC's RPK4-HD1101 integration adapter allows you to install an aftermarket single- (2" tall) or double-DIN (4" tall) stereo in the Honda's dash panel, while maintaining the factory climate controls and steering wheel controls.

Product Research

Features

Vehicle Compatibility: The PAC RPK4-HD110 is a complete radio replacement kit with integrated climate control and built-in steering wheel control for 2003 to 2007 Honda Accords (all trim-levels) featuring navigation or non-navigation factory radios.

Radio Dip Switches: The radio dip switches on the back of the included interface module must be adjusted to the proper radio setting before plugging the interface into the vehicle. The RPK4-HD110 is compatible with Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer, Sony, Dual, Jensen,&  Rockford Fosgate aftermarket radios (see owner's manual for appropriate dip-switch setting).

Single or Double DIN Dash Kit: The included factory matched dash kit will accommodate a Single-DIN aftermarket head unit using the supplied pocket or a Double-DIN aftermarket head unit without the pocket.

Integrated Climate Controls: The included dash kit features integrated climate controls. It utilizes an intuitive LCD screen, two user friendly rotary knobs & eight dedicated push-buttons for a factory look and feel. Using the supplied interchangeable knob inserts, this kit is compatible with both single zone or dual zone HVAC systems. The HVAC buttons are backlit in white when you turn on the lights of your vehicle.

Built-in Steering Wheel Control: The included radio replacement interface will retain factory steering wheel controls (SWC) and allows you to program two radio functions to each SWC button by using short press long press dual command functionality.

Note: On models equipped with factory NAV, you must run a wire to the passenger's side kick panel if retention of the voice and back buttons is desired.

Navigation Outputs: The included interface also provides data bus driven Navigation outputs such as vehicle speed sensor (VSS), reverse trigger, and parking brake - making the installation of an aftermarket navigation head unit simpler and less time consuming.

Note: Single Zone Climate models will have to run one wire to the drivers kick panel for the interface to pull proper data to generate NAV outputs.

Duct Sealing Material: A sheet of of HVAC Duct sealing material is included in case the factory foam has deteriorated between the ducts behind the factory radio.

Q
What voltage does the USB port put out?
grounder  Sep 22, 2022
1 answer
A
That will vary based on the USB output of the aftermarket headunit you connect it to.

Q
After install the heat/ac doesn't turn off. Only goes to low but air continues to flow. Air coming out is also unsteady as if a fan were rotating. Help?
courtney  Jul 19, 2022

A
So there could be a few reasons why that is happening and it's probably easier to figure out if you gave us a call at 800.324.9695 to speak with one of our advisors.

Q
I have a 2005 accord hybrid. On a hot day with my ac on will this unit be compatible keeping my hybrid ac on while I'm at a stop? My engine shuts off when I come to a stop. I have an aftermarket android touchscreen which is great for a regular car because the engine doesn't stop and keeps the ac going. The hybrid however is mated to the stock navi and helps the hybrid ac kick on while stopped.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

The instructions for wiring the pink/black wire to the 45 pin connector for vehicles with the single zone HVAC are extremely vague. How do you actually do this part?

Q
Does this kit require a module to retain the steering wheel controls? Some kits Iâ??ve bought in the past do but this one doesnâ??t specify!
scott  Aug 04, 2020

A
It includes the module for steering wheel controls. It works pretty well, although sometimes when I press a volume button I notice that it will also send a command to rewind a song. So it isn't perfect, but overall it's pretty good.
isaac  Aug 06, 2020
A
Hi Scott! So this kit does not contain a module to retain the steering wheel controls if your Honda Accord has those features.
reece  Aug 05, 2020
Q
Can you use the factory lower pocket instead of the one that comes with the kit?
micah  May 16, 2020
2 answers
A
No.
nathaniel  May 17, 2020
A
No, you have to use the lower pocket that comes with the kit if you are using a double din radio. The old pocket does not fit with the angle that the new radio has in the space.

Q
Is there any modifcation (cutting) that has to be done behind this head unit? Reason I ask is I saw a youtube video of another install and they had to cut some plastic behind the dash. I would prefer not to do that. Would prefer to go right back to stock if needed.
shane  Apr 30, 2020

A
This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation.

Q
Does this work on my 2005 accord 2.2i-ctdi? AC and the other climate controls?
isak  Apr 20, 2020

A
The ability to retain controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Yes it should, I installed it over a year ago on my 2002 Accord and all the climate controls and everything is still working great. AC is still blowing cold

Will this work with my 2005 accord 2.2 i-ctdi? On other products the AC wondt work.
isak  Apr 20, 2020

A
We put this unit on an 04 accord 2.4vtec and the AC worked just the way it was supposed to. Can't say for sure with yours but don't think the 2.2 would make any difference in the controls for the AC.

While setting up the kit for my 2007 accord coupe, I came across the issue of having nowhere to plug the new USB into. The cord ends with a USB female end and there is nowhere on the unit to plug it in? Where do I do this?

Where do you place the Interface module?

You can reach behind the stereo head and lay it on top, Velcro will hold it but I did not use any.
barbara pere  Jun 20, 2019

It mounts physically behind the display. If you google the model number you'll be able to find the installation PDF. The best picture is on page 4. there you can see the 2 tabs on either side of this interface module and those will match up with the 2 screws on the back of the display.

Frankly, I cannot remember. My son did this job. I am sure he followed the directions. They were pretty decent directions if I remember right.
kevin  Jun 19, 2019

Its been a while since I installed this item. I don't remember the module you speal of, but there is plenty of room in the dash so it should fit. Crutchfield tech support is great, just give them a call.
brandon  Jun 19, 2019

I used this kit with a double-din receiver. I velcroed the Interface Module to the top of the radio. It's better than letting the IM hang loose behind the dash kit.
michael g  Jun 19, 2019

I didn't install it was done by others
james william  Jun 19, 2019

There was enough room behind and under the radio to stash it.

I have seen some reviews where the owners complain that the air conditioning does not operate correctly in Auto mode. Is that still a problem or it was fixed through firmware update? Thanks!

Same for me. Mine didnt have auto mode to start. so I lost nothing. It WOULD have been a sweet upgrade had it worked though.

MY UNIT DID NOT HAVE AUTO MODE, OTHERWISE NO PROBLEM'S

I have also have seen such problems posted in many feedback threads. I do NOT have automatic temp control or separate driver/passenger temp controls BUT I DO have a weird problem ! Even though I have single zone manual AC the drivers side center and door side vent has warmer air than the passenger side center and door side (at ANY setting) since I installed the PAC RPK4-HD1101 !!! I think my problem is that the damper solinoids don't get the proper voltage to them (just like the fan motor speed control issue) so they can move to the correct position. The engineers at PAC really need to remedy these issues ...and it shouldn't be so hard...JUST GET THE FIRMWARE CORRECT !

I have an 07 without factory navigation, and my experience has been that the climate control works, but is not as precise as the factory climate control. Cooling works pretty well. Every now and then I'll turn the fan up or down manually, but it's not too much of an issue. Heating, on the other hand is quite imprecise. I find that the car is usually too hot and I will have to turn the climate control completely off to let the car cool down some. Would I still recommend it? Absolutely. The inconvenience of having climate control less automated than it was before is completely outweighed by having a modern infotainment system in the car.
jonathan  Jul 12, 2018
A
Well, I did do the firmware update, but I have no Auto mode. My vehicle is single zone, no Nav, and no steering wheel controls. I didn't have an Auto mode to begin with and it's not entirely clear to me that an Auto mode will be added to everyone's vehicle if they buy this. Is it only active in dual zone config? IDK. But because I didn't have it to start, I'm not really missing it.
guy  Jul 12, 2018
A
Mine didn't work correctly it wouldn't change the direction of the air it all comes to the front.
rajkumar  Jul 12, 2018

My Accord is an LX. It has single climate AC. I did upgrade the firmware before installing it and my AC works perfectly. I absolutely love this dash kit.
brent  Jul 12, 2018

When I connected this dash kit for the first time, it was in Auto mode. The heater kept a steady 70 degrees through the sensors located on either side of the kit. But my Accord has single-zone climate controls so I set the kit to manual. Now it is summer and the air conditioning works perfectly. I can't say whether it works on Auto.
michael g  Jul 12, 2018
Q
DOES THIS PRODUCT WORK WITH A HEAD UNIT THAT DOESN'T HAVE DRIVER AND PASSENGER CONTROLS? MY UNIT ONLY HAS FAN SPEED AND TEMPERATURE
joseph  Feb 26, 2018
3 answers
A
Yes. It comes with 2 sets of covers for the two main knobs. My car is single zone climate too. When you set it up in your car for the first time you select what trim level your car is and it sets the controls accordingly. I have been very happy with this setup. Its about as close to factory as you can get.
brandon  Mar 14, 2018
A
Yes, you just have to pay attention to the installation instructions and it will tell you how to program it for single controls.
scott  Mar 14, 2018
A
Yes it does

Q
I'm not understanding how this fits into a 2004 accord EX sedan. will this change all the climate control buttons? And the radio I'm looking to buy doesn't look like the one in the pic.
daniel  Nov 07, 2017
2 answers
A
The entire center radio/climate control thing gets replaced. You will plug your climate controls into the kit and remove what is already in the car. A single DIN adapter is included and will fit that radio - but you really should get a double-DIN it will look really good in the dash. Also, grab the Metra or PAC pocket and you will have a really nice dash. I just put this in my 03 EX and it looks really good. Way less mess than a DIN under the factory climate-radio monstrosity that Honda installed at the factory. Be carefully when working around the dash though the material the EX dash is made from seems really fragile and dimple prone compared to other dash's I've done.
james stillman  Nov 08, 2017
A
Yes. It replaces all the radio and climate control buttons display and controls. It moves the climate control functions above the radio. It works well.
