Features

Manual Belt-Drive: The Music Hall MMF-1.5 turntable employs a low noise, fully manual belt drive design.

3-Speed Operation: A built-in speed control circuit ensures the accuracy of the MMF-1.5 turntable's three operating speeds (33-1/3, 45, & 78 RPM). 78 RPM records require an additional cartridge that is not included and sold separately (see Accessories Tab).

Die-Cast Aluminum Platter: The Music Hall MMF-1.5 turntable utilizes a die-cast aluminum platter and a thick rubber mat to dampen ambient vibration. The belt comes pre-mounted to the platter, making setup easier and quicker.

MDF Plinth w/ Vibration Damping Feet: The MMF-1.5 turntable features a MDF Plinth and vibration damping feet to prevent unwanted vibration. The MDF plinth features a real cherry wood veneer.

Aluminum Tonearm + MM Cartridge: The Music Hall MMF-1.5 includes an aluminum tonearm and comes with an uninstalled Music Hall Melody phono (MM) cartridge with diamond stylus. You will have to mount the cartridge/stylus assembly to the tonearm.

Built-in Switchable Preamp: A built-in phono preamplifier allows connection of the turntable to an AV receiver, integrated amplifier, or powered speakers that do not have a dedicated phono input. The built-in phono preamp can be turned off when using an AV receiver or integrated amp with a phono input (MM).

Stereo RCA Output: The Music Hall MMF-1.5 is outfitted with a stereo RCA output and comes with a 5' stereo RCA cable to connect the turntable to your AV receiver, integrated amplifier, or powered speakers.

External Power Supply: The MMF-1.5 includes an external AC power supply.

Hinged Dust Cover: The Music Hall MMF-1.5 comes supplied with a hinged dust cover to prevent dust build-up on the turntable.

Q
Has anyone upgraded the cartridge on this turntable? I have multiple cartridges ATV95ML, M95ED and Super OM20 that I like to switch based on music genre. Was wondering if these would be a good match.

I have about a dozen different cartridges, that's why I bought this table with the universal headshell mount. This is not my main table but does a good job one some vintage audio from the 70's. I have never plugged in the crap cartridge is comes with, didn't want to torcher my vinyl, I am currently using an Ortofon Red and several others. The cartridge change will make a huge difference, Go order some extra headshell's and mount away.

Have not upgraded, but see know reason why you cannot upgrade. I'm thinking along the lines of upgrading with Grado.

Q
Has anyone else had issues with the speed adjuster? speeds were fine out of the box, but recently everything is playing on the 33 setting, and the speed adjust will not adjust the platter speed. I have only had it for a few weeks and am going to contact where I bought it but would like to not have to do that if possible.

I have only used 33 sence I have own it , I guess that should try the others . No problems with 33 speed .
craig  Jun 14, 2019

I think you are talking about speed selector not a speed adjuster which is located at back of turntable.. If selector will go bad it maybe be stuck in one speed. You may try to clean it with Deoxit F5 first.
jaroslaw  Jun 13, 2019
A
I have no problems with the speed on my player.

Hi Dave. Sorry to hear you are having problems. We have never had an issue with our speed adjuster. In fact no problems at all. I wish I could offer some insightful advice. Best of luck. Celeste

Q
What is the recommended tracking force for this turntable?
jerome l.  Apr 14, 2019
4 answers
A
The tracking force is directly related to the cartridge you are using. Look at what the manufacturer suggests for your cartridge and balance it accordingly and the anti skate should be the same as you track force. First thing you should do is get rid of the cartridge that is came with and upgrade.

Q
I am liking this turntable but am a little confused by one of the reviews. In the review they stated they needed to purchase a pre amp?? Is the built in pre amp sufficient or???

This turntable is gorgeous. The description stated preamp was included, perhaps integrated as no separate components in box. Regardless, I did purchase a separate preamp and the sound is sweet!
luana  Jan 23, 2019
A
It does have a preamp and It's OK. You will be able to enjoy this TT if you have only regular aux inputs on your amp (or powered speakers). That said, the built-in preamp doesn't sound as lively or gutsy as the phono input on my integrated amp (Proton D540, from 1988). I would bet a stand-alone phono pre would make this thing really really shine. I really love this turntable.
steven  Jan 19, 2019
A
I love my turntable. You do not need a pre amp.
ronald e  Jan 17, 2019

Hello. We find the built in pre amp to be great. We connect through our Bose sound system. I think it will depend on what you will use as your amplifier. We absolutely love the MMF-1.5.
celeste  Jan 17, 2019
A
I am using the built in pre-amp and I think it sounds great. I'm sure it may sound better with a pre-amp you can buy separately, but you don't need to.
james  Jan 16, 2019
A
Pre amp is more than sufficient. Set was simple and sounds great. No pre-amp is needed
kerry  Jan 15, 2019

The turntable has a built-in phono preamp that can be switched off if you want to provide your own.The built-in preamp gets great reviews and is more than sufficient for my sound system. I think the gain from spending a few hundred for a better external preamp would be minimal and would defeat the advantages of this affordable turntable.
trent  Jan 15, 2019
A
No need for a separate pre-amp. I connected mine directly to the amplifier.
astolfo  Jan 15, 2019
A
It's definitely sufficient for my set up. Enter
james  Jan 15, 2019
A
This has a built in pre-amp. Plug in power, connect speakers, and go.
robert  Jan 15, 2019

This turntable has a preamp built into it. If you are plugging it into a receiver that has a preamp built in it, all you will need to do is switch the turntable from phono to line an you are good to go. If the amp does not have a preamp built into it, you just leave the switch set at phono. I hope this helps.

Hi! What about its speed stability and wow & flutter aspects? Have you noticed anything wrong towards to these things?

A
I have not seen an issue asked in the question. Turntable performs great.
trent  Jan 15, 2019
A
No, no problem with wow & flutter or speed stability, but, just in case, there is a electronic speed control adjustment knob on the back of turntable you can use to change the platter speed if necessary.
jaroslaw  May 09, 2018
A
Hello! The speed stability is very good; even wihen playing heavy weight 78 rpm. The flutter aspect seems to be fine; no noticeable variation in pitch. We are very happy with this turn table and highly recommend it.
celeste  May 09, 2018
A
The speed stability is good, no audible wow and flutter to my old ears.
jerold  May 09, 2018
A
Speed stability is good for this price point, Wow & Flutter rated at 0.15% limit. I can occasionally detect Wow (but not Flutter) if a song ends on a single extended note, but there are no audible irregularities to my ear during performance segments of music.
