Product of experience

When it comes to bass, Kicker wrote the book, as they were among the first to create subs and amps for cars. The Kicker CompC line has its roots in the original Kicker Comp subwoofer line that goes back to 1986, giving you the benefit of their decades of experience. The CompC Series 44CWCS84 8" subwoofer features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, while the ribbed foam surround with its familiar yellow stitching promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cone on target.

Versatile installation

This sub handles up to 200 watts RMS to bring out the punch your music's been missing, while its 4-ohm impedance makes it compatible with just about every amplifier on the market. The sub's steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

Q
Does the kitchen kicker comp c 8 inch sub replace the factory sub on a 2011 odyssey exl no nav?
carlos  Jun 06, 2021
2 answers
A
Yes but you might have to modify the sub box to make it fit properly
sheldon  Jun 07, 2021
A
Only true way to know is remove the current sub in the odyssey and measure its diameter, as well as depth. But as the specs on the Odyssey says its an 8 inch sub in the drivers side wall, I would be pretty confident that it would.

Kicker comp c 8 inch upgrade 2011 odyssey factory sub?
carlos  Jun 06, 2021

A
It's a great little sub, but I don't know how it will sound in that application. If the system will push it and you have enough air space for it then I would try it for sure!

Q
How much power loss if configured for free-air (Infinite baffle operation)?
tasel  Dec 06, 2020
2 answers
A
well I had a 1995 Avalon with a subwoofer in the rear deck when it finally died I replaced it with one of these and I didn't notice any loss in fact it actually sounded way better then being enclosed but like I said that was only because I used it in the rear deck since my car had that option your results may vary though; but for what these are it was definitely worth going free air mounted hope this helps some
roger  Dec 07, 2020
A
Mine is configured in a free air operation as a direct replacement in my 2011 Sonata. I haven't noticed that much of a power drop off.

Q
Will this fit my 2007 Lexus ES350 with the Mark Levinson system. My stock one was 5.5 ohms. Will it be a problem if I hook this up to my factory amp system?

A
Take one with 8 oms
alexandre  Sep 04, 2020
A
Not real sure about your specifics. I can tell you what I did. I did hook mine to a pre-existing factory amp and all is great. Should not be an issue.
stew  Sep 04, 2020
Q
I need 35 to 40w starting Rms in a 4 ohm 8 inch free air sub, will this work? Otherwise will fry my stock lexus amp.
eugene p  Aug 08, 2020
1 answer
A
While this subwoofer can work with that power, I doubt it will give levels anywhere close to that provided with the stock subwoofer and recommend consulting an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to check if we have a good option to fix the factory subwoofer location in your Lexus

Q
What size mounting bolts fit in this?
roger  Apr 05, 2019
2 answers
A
I used no.8 wood screws about 1" long to attach the speaker to my sub box.
carl  Apr 06, 2019
A
If you are doing a through bolt and not screws a 10-32 with backing washers would work well.
joe  Apr 05, 2019

Q
I would like to purchase two of these subs for my 97 Jeep Wrangler. What amp would you recommend to get the most out of these and the best sound quality ? Thanks
chance  Nov 01, 2017

A
I would run one 8 in sub in the biggest ported box wired so the amp sees a 1 ohm load. 1.8 cubic ft vol
jason  Jan 28, 2020

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

I got the JBL gtx500 to run these subs and it is plenty enough power. I also have ran the subs off of the Alpine mrp-450, also plenty enough power for these subs. The alpine amp has a little more eq control and I run the alpine on a 10inch sub in my Subaru. I run the Kickers and JBL in my Jeep which has more eq controls on the head unit.

Q
does this bolt right right in place of the stock sub?
chris  Jul 06, 2017

A
If you are putting it in an '03 Avalon like I did, no, it does not. Any other application would have to be answered by someone that installed it in whatever you are installing yours. Hope this helps.
todd  Jul 06, 2017
A
I used it in a 2002 Ford Focus SVT with the factory sub box. It almost bolted right in place. I had to make a solid gasket to space it out from the mounting frame about 1/8" - 3/16" so that it did not push to hard on the back side of the enclosure. it was easy, as there is a template included in the box. I used cork gasket blank from the auto parts store.
edward  Jul 06, 2017
A
No. They are in a different arrangement with more holes
jameel  Jul 06, 2017
A
It did not for me but I knew that when I ordered. After receiving and thinking about it and discovering a local speaker repair center I thought had gone out of business, I returned the unit and have the original factory speaker re-coned. For me that was the best decision as I ended up with original fit, no extra drilling, original performance and matched to the factory system. I did look at the speaker when it was received and it is a nice looking, well manufactured unit. My installation was a 2000 Avalon.

Q
I'm replacing the factory subwoofer in my 2000 Suburban. Will my radio (JVC KW-820BT} need a separate amp to drive this speaker? Thanks
michael  May 04, 2017
2 answers
A
Yes
jason  Jan 28, 2020
A
There is an amp in your Suburban that powers the subwoofer and our gear will install the new radio so that the stock amp continues to work. The subwoofer will continue to work because of this! HTH! My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101
