Crux BTS-HN2

Crux's BTS-HN2 adapter allows you to add Bluetooth streaming to the factory radio of your Honda. Now you can stream audio without having to replace the car radio, and even hear navigation app voice prompts over your car system when in Bluetooth mode. The BTS-HN2 also features a USB port for music playback which you can control via the radio panel or your steering wheel controls. You can charge your phone from the USB port, and the module also includes a 3.5mm auxiliary input jack for other audio sources. The package also includes a magnetic phone mount.

Connection sounds great; way better than my buddy's radio frequency Bluetooth receiver he got on another retailer. Though, if I'm on a call with my iPhone while using Airpods when I turn my car on, this takes over the Bluetooth connection to my call. I wish this had a microphone built in.

Bluetooth Music Streaming: Thanks to built-in Bluetooth 2.0 with support for A2DP, you are able to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps (using SBC codec only) from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or portable audio player to the Crux BTS-HN2 and your vehicle's factory radio. There is no music control or song/artist information on the factory radio; this will still need to be done from your Bluetooth source device. You can also use Bluetooth to hear navigation voice prompts (factory radio and adapter must be in Bluetooth mode). The adapter will only pair to one device at a time.

Notes: The Crux BeeLine series adapter does not support Bluetooth hands-free phone communication.

USB Port: The adapter's USB-A 2.0 port supports playback of MP3 music files stored on a USB mass storage class (MSC) device, like a USB thumbdrive (you may want to purchase a USB extension cable). You can control Track Up & Down from the factory radio or steering wheel controls (if equipped). The factory radio will not display song/artist information. The USB port can also be used to charge (5V/0.5A) your smartphone.

Aux Input: There is a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting almost any external portable audio source with a headphone jack or analog audio output. Music from your connected portable audio source will be heard through the factory radio and speakers. There are no playback controls or song/artist information on the factory radio.

Magnetic Vent Mount: The Crux BTS-HN2 comes with a magnetic vent mount for your smartphone. The mount works with most air vent configurations found in today's vehicles - including horizontal, vertical, and round air vents. The vent mount includes a magnetic device cradle and comes with a self-adhesive magnetic plate which attaches to the outside of your smartphone or inside of your smartphone case. Once the magnetic plate is installed, simply hover your mobile device over the cradle and it will quickly snap into place and remain there. You can quickly remove it too. The mount's ball-and-socket mechanism allows you tilt your smartphone up or down, turn it left or right, and rotate it 360-degrees. You'll be able to mount your device in a vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) orientation.

Plug-&-Play Harness: The Crux BeeLine series BTS-HN2 features an attached 30" harness which plugs into the 14-pin CD changer port on the back of the factory radio. The factory radio will need to be removed from the dash in order to gain access to the 14-pin CD changer port. If there is a factory external CD changer already plugged into this port, you will need to unplug it and leave the CD changer disconnected.

Operation: The Crux BTS-HN2 is accessed through the "CD" button on your vehicle's factory radio. In this mode the factory radio will display "CD1 01". You cannot manually switch between the inputs of the BTS-HN2. Instead, the BTS-HN2 automatically switches for you based on what device you have connected - Bluetooth, USB, or Aux (only connect one device at a time).

Hey, thanks for the question. So it looks like the Crux bluetooth adapter can possibly fit in your Acura but there are a few caveats that will determine compatibility. 1) Not compatible on Acura vehicles equipped with AcuraLink. 2) Factory radio must have a 14-pin CD changer port. 3) Not compatible with vehicles with DVD Navigation or factory rear view camera. If your Acura passes those three checks, you should be good!

Hey Amanda, so this device is only able to give you Bluetooth connectivity for music streaming and not phone calls as there is no microphone input on this device. This Crux BTS-HN2 is a fit for your vehicle but cannot be used on models with a factory DVD system, Bruce. Hey Bruce, great question. So the two deciding factors for fitment on this are as follows: 1) Factory radio must have a 14-pin CD changer port. 2) Not compatible with vehicles with DVD Navigation or factory rear view camera. Since you don't have the factory nav, that is at least one factor down but if you have a factory rear view camera or do not have the CD changer port that used the 14 pin plug, this piece would not be compatible. If this piece is not in fact compatible, we do have an alternative that will be linked below that should work since you have an XM tuner in your Odyssey now as this piece would plug in and replace the existing XM tuner. Greetings Devin, and thank you for your question. If your TSX did not come with factory navigation, Acura link, or a factory back up camera there should be an open 14 pin port on the back of the factory radio. This is where the Cruz BTS-HN2 would plug into.

So this will, Logan. The Crux BTS-HN2 cannot play music from your phone through the USB, but it will charge when connected while also playing music through Bluetooth. You can use USB media playback through the USB to play files if you'd like too!

This adapter only supports Bluetooth music streaming and does not support Bluetooth phone calls. We have an adapter that supports both of these Bluetooth technologies but it does not work with all the stock radios found in 2008 Pilots. The BTS-HN2 plugs into the AUX port at the rear of the factory head unit, so if you have the in-dash factory CD changer, they should work separately. I have an `05 Accord EX sedan, for reference. Hope this helps.

I tried this on mine and it did not work unfortunately. In theory it should be possible, but I no longer have mine to do any testing. I'm guessing it just detects when something is physically plugged into the AUX port (even if it's just an extension cable) and switches from Bluetooth mode to AUX mode. Hope this helps!

My car is a 2007 Honda Accord. It has a cd changer rather than the cassette player. Installing it, did not affect the operation of my cd changer. It simply took the place of XM radio in the port on my stereo. Crutchfield also sells a splitter that will allow you to keep XM and Bluetooth.

This type of Bluetooth interface doesn't support phone calls through the car speakers, as it wasn't intended to (it would need to have an external microphone connected to the interface, and be able to send that audio back to the phone, which it can't do). This interface is intended purely to stream music to your car speakers over Bluetooth. If you wanted to have "speaker phone" functionality over Bluetooth, you would likely need to upgrade the entire head unit/receiver to a model that has Bluetooth and comes with an external microphone (which you would need to run the wire behind the dash and up into the headliner near the windshield). On this device, if you get a phone call while playing music, the music will simply pause and you would take the call on the phone as if you were outside the car. Hope this helps!

We put this in our Odyssey and it took over one of the inputs on the back of the stock radio. CD-4 that I think would have been used for XM radio if we had that. It does not work with the steering wheel for controlling as far as I know. It is just a bluetooth receiver so that you can play things from your phone or other bluetooth devices. Hope that helps.

This is designed to plug into the 14 pin port on a radio and no where else. You will need to work in the dash as Art mentioned. We typically have MasterSheets for vehicles which show how to remove the stock radio so this can be installed to the back of it. Those MasterSheets come free with the purchase

I have installed 3 of these units into the dash of three different Hondas. All work perfectly. Putting it in the trunk would be much easier if there was the appropriate port. I never tried that. What I can tell you is that taking the dash apart is so much easier than it seems.

This device does not stop the stock system from functioning so it will be there and can still be used even with this installed. Phones typically only connect to one Bluetooth device at a time making you choose to either have it paired to this device or the stock Bluetooth; not both.

I have only used the BT so far on my phone without fail. I have never tried the USB hookup, it just seems faster with the phone and google assistant, you can just tell your phone what to play, hope this helps.

No you can't do any of that. I bought this for my Accord and the only thing that worked as far as steering wheel controls were the volume controls. You cant switch songs from radio, or steering wheel, it has to be all from the phone or device you're connected from. It's the worst Bluetooth device you can buy. It disconnects every 5 minutes and reconnects and doesn't want to work half the time. Stay far away from this. It was a waste of money.

If radio is on and you plug in aux it overrides the Bluetooth. Note if you leave aux plugged in and turn off radio the next time you turn on radio you will need to unplug aux cord and plug back in for it to work.

I use a Pixel2 phone, and play downloaded music with the Amazon Music App through the Crux Bluetooth device installed in a 2004 Honda Accord. I do have steering wheel audio controls, but they do not work if the phone is sending music either via Bluetooth or via 3.5 mm jack. Therefore I have to select albums and tracks at the phone rather than from the steering wheel. The Crutchfield description says that you can control tracks, etc. only if the audio source is connected to the Crux device using the USB connection. However, I have not been able to get my Pixel2 phone to work at all with the USB connection to the Crux device. I don't know if the problem is my phone, or the Amazon Music App, or something wrong with the Crux device. I do have a 2018 Honda CRV which has USB input to the car's sound system. My Pixel2 and Amazon Music work perfectly in that car... I can control the who phone from the car's screen and/or steering wheel controls. So my phone definitely works with Android Auto App and a USB connection to a 2018 Honda car system. So something is not right about the USB connection between my phone and my Crux device.

If your factory stereo has CD changer controls, it would have buttons labeled "Disc +" & "Disc -". They would commonly be radio preset buttons 5 & 6. You do not have to have factory steering wheel radio controls to use the adapter. There is not a separate mic that comes with this Crux Bluetooth adapter. It does rely on the mic in the phone being connected. The BTS-HN2 does include a nice, magnetic phone holder that allows for hands free phone use without requiring any permanent installation.

Part of the reason Im looking for this BT addition is because my CD player will no longer turns on and all Im left with is FM radio. If the CD/AUX button does not work then this unit may not work, however if the malfunction is not the button itself the unit will work. Also be sure your car has the 14 pin connector on the back or bottom of the stereo. If you suspect it is the button you can always get an fm transmitter Bluetooth receiver that will broadcast to your fm stereo,you will suffer a little sound quality but it's very simple to use and does not require disassembly of your dash. The in-dash CD changer is still able to be used. Apparently there was an optional CD changer that just plugged into the bottom of the factory stereo (why anyone would need that many discs is beyond me). To switch between the Bluetooth and in-dash CD changer just hit the CD/Aux button, just like switching from AM/FM bands.

If You Have The CD Changer it would have to be Disconnected,The In Dash CD will still work

For our 2008 Honda Fit it uses the only port available for the CD changer, so you can't use botg. But it may be possible depending on your make and midel. Recommend calling Crutchfield and inquire. They're great folks to deal with.

I dont use cds anymore but i dont see why it would interfere with it. The port that this goes into was being used by sirius xm radio so I did lose that but installing this bluetooth device is much more useful to me anyhow.
