Don't be shy with the power

The highly efficient speakers will work well with an aftermarket radio, but keep in mind that they will really show off their stuff with a lot of power from an aftermarket amp. The titanium-coated 6"x9" polymer woofer cone, backed by a space-efficient magnet, delivers the full sound you've been hungry for. A low-profile, lightweight carbon basket features excellent venting to keep these speakers cool when you're really pouring on the power. And your music's high frequencies will soar, thanks to delicate handling by the newly designed Terylene fabric dome tweeter and supertweeter.

Features

Mounting Applications: Although bottom mount brackets are included, the speakers can be bottom mounted without them, resulting in a mounting depth of 3.378" and a tweeter protrusion of 0.742". The brackets can also be used as top mount spacers, resulting in a mounting depth of 2.566" and a mounting height of 1.554".

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Rubber Surrounds: The inner and outer woofer surrounds are Santoprene rubber, to keep water from leaking through the speaker.

Tweeters: The tweeter and super tweeter material is Terylene, a brand name of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Neodymium Magnets: The speakers' neodymium magnets offer exceptional strength to performance ratio and are small and lightweight.

Basket: The speaker baskets are fiberglass reinforced ABS, lightweight and corrosion resistant.

Crossover: The crossover components are coated with epoxy to prevent corrosion. The low pass filter is 1st order (6 dB/octave), the high pass tweeter filter is 2nd order (12 dB/octave) at 3.5 kHz, and the high pass super tweeter filter is 3rd order (18 dB/octave) at 4.5 kHz.

Ultra-Marine Certified: Polk MM1 Series speakers are tested to withstand exposure to salt-fog, UV rays, and humidity, so they'll work well in boats and cars. They also include stainless mounting hardware for corrosion resistance.

Drainage: The speaker should be mounted so the slots along the perimeter of one side of the basket are at the bottom, so any trapped water can drain.

Terminals: These speakers have 0.25" positive (+) terminals and 0.187" negative (-) terminals, which are too large for the speaker harnesses supplied by Crutchfield for many vehicle-specific applications. The speaker wire included by Polk Audio has the correct size terminals attached, so that can be spliced to an adapter harness, or optional crimp-on female quick slides can be purchased (item number 120FQS10PK, sold separately).

Q
Would these be able to replace my sony 6x9's in the rear deck corner of my ford fusion titanium? The sony's came with my car and I want to make sure that these will be able to fully replace them before I buy them as finding stock sony's is too hard.

A
In general yes those Polk MM 692 will fit in the stock 6x9 location for the factory Sony system. However just to verify that it will work for your particular year of Ford Fusion, give us a call at 800.324.9695 and one of our advisors can make sure everything would work for you.

Q
Will these sound good in harley hard bags ? i have a Rockford Punch PBR400X4D and already have 6.5 speakers in the fairing. Will this amp be enough ?

I have these in the saddlebags of my CVO Street Glide. They work well and sound good, but required an adapter to mount, since the factory speaker size is smaller. I can't speak for your amp in particular, but I replaced the factory amp in the CVO and had an aftermarket amp put in and it's super loud, because the D&D pipes I have are loud. Hope this helps....keep the shiny side up!

If there's a way to send me your info I will send you mine never used. This is my second set, that have blown just after the warranty. They were recieving at best 150 Watts each from the rear channels of a JL Audio 600/4 HD. I would not buy again.!!!

We do not offer the grilles by themselves and recommend contacting Polk Audio' support to check availability. We have 800-377-7655 for their support number.

Q
What marine amp would be a good fit for 4 of these speakers?

We have a few different amps that can work with these speakers and more information is needed to give a good recommendation on one. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to discuss the application and your goals to get a recommendation on an amp to use with them

Q
How do the speaker covers attach? I want to put them in a box in my boat and don't want to worry about them falling off with all the bouncing from waves

There are four screw holes on the speaker frame. Mine threaded into a prefitted box to install in my old Jeep. you could trace/make a template so that the holes line up with the box for screwing.

Hi Jason G. Unfortunately I've only used them for motorcycle installations, and I've not used the grills that come with the 6x9 speakers. However, I do use the grill that come with the DB series. I have lots of DB grill and I often swap the 6.5 mm grill to the 6.5 DB grill. They bolt on and matches up nicely. Hope this helps. v/r ~Swin~

Q
Can I power a pair of these with 2 channels off Alpine KTP-445U?
a  Nov 25, 2019
1 answer
A
That KTP-445U amp can power these speakers. If you bridge the amp so it's only working as a 2 channel amp, then you can give the speakers even more power for better performance

What is the reason they won't they fit my Mercury Grand Marquis GS Back deck or Doors? Haven't bought em yet but I want those in my car.
thomas  Sep 21, 2019
1 answer
A
What year is your Grand Marquis? It might have to do with the mounting depth, height, or shape of the speaker. You can connect with one of our product advisors to see if it is a close enough fit to try or if there might be a better option: https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c290/S-SUliZgSTXG7/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
My 2005 honda civic takes 6×9 speakers in the rear why would the polk audio MM 692 series not fit?
chris  Jul 29, 2018
1 answer
A
The only thing that i can think of if there's something restrictive above or below. On most hondas, below isnt an issue, usually, because there isn't anything below the speaker cutout. But main issue you may run into the the fitment above the speaker cutout and the rear deck cover. These speakers need probably about a good half inch between the surface they mount to and whatever sits above them. Possibly more than that. I would recommend looking at a pdf user manual on polks website, or here in crutchfield. The user manual should show exact measurements, then add about a quarter inch to the top for speaker travel.

150 rms per pair or each?

I would say yes to each one. I always call the guys there and they can answer any question you have. Plus in the description it says 150 RMS https://www.crutchfield.com/p_107MM692/Polk-Audio-MM-692.html?search=mm_692&skipvs=T

Per speaker! I've been enjoying them - they sound very good I'm running an Alpine x- A70F amp with four of them

Each speaker. They sound great

Q
I am looking at these for my boat but I have exactly 6 inches total to fit them into from top to bottom? Not the cut out hole size but total size of speaker cannot be taller than 6 inches. I don't see here the total size but I did go to Polks website and it says 6 inches but I want to be sure. Mabey if you could look at one and take a tape measure to it. If these wont work I still need the size of the 5x7 version of the same speaker top to bottom total inches. Side to side I have room.

I read this question differently than the other answers given. the height of the speaker from the bottom of the magnet to the top fo the speaker is 4".
mark  Apr 02, 2018
A
From center top to center bottom is 6 3/8"
scott  Mar 28, 2018
A
If it's a 6 inch speaker it should fit. If you want a 6.5" they should carry a adapter for it as well. Me personally I would stay away from a 5x7. I just ended up switching my 5x7 speakers to 6x9. I'm running a pair of MM 692 6x9's and a pair of DB6502 6.5" speakers.
jeffery teabags  Mar 28, 2018
A
Yes sir they are exactly 6 inches accross Or top To bottom
dean  Mar 28, 2018
Q
Can these speakers be out into a box and if so what size. Ported or unported. Are the better with or without a box?
dustin  Dec 12, 2017
2 answers
A
I called Polk Audio and they can be boxed and sealed.
jeffery teabags  Jul 08, 2018
A
These 6x9 speakers can be put into a box. Since they are designed for free air applications, there is no requirements for a box short of the speakers fitting the box. You can put them into a sealed or ported box and we would expect little to no difference in their sound. We carry 2 types of boxes that can hold them: https://www.crutchfield.com/g_178650/Empty-Subwoofer-Boxes.html?tp=61651#&nvpair=FFSpeaker_Size|6X9 My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101
