Kicker technology at work

Kicker's 44CWCD84 8" subwoofer features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, while the ribbed foam surround promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cone on target. The sub's steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

Versatile installation

This sub handles up to 200 watts RMS to bring out the punch your music's been missing, and its dual 4-ohm voice coils make it easy to get more power from your mono amplifier. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

Q
What is the difference between the CD model and the CS model?
matt  May 14, 2023
1 answer
A
The CWCD model features duel voice coils (D = dual). THe CWCS model has a single voice coil (S = single). The primary difference is in how we deal with impedance and matching amplifiers. For help with this project, please reach out to our advisors via only chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
What would be the best amp to power two of these?
zander  Feb 28, 2023
1 answer
A
Great question, Zander. For this Kicker 44CWCD84 a pair can achieve either a 1-ohm load or a 4-ohm load, and a pair can handle a total of 400-watts RMS. A mono amplifier that delivers 400-watts at 1-ohm would be the perfect call here, check out the Kicker 46CXA400.1T in the link below. This is the perfect match! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CX41T/Kicker-46CXA400-1T.html

Q
Will this sub work with a Sound Steam stealth SM1.700D. Also with modifications can the sub work in a 2003 Jeep TJ center console?
glenn  Jan 14, 2023
1 answer
A
The Soundstream SM1.700D is a bit too powerful for this subwoofer, Glenn. The 700D will put out 350 watts to a 2-ohm load, and the speaker is only rated for 200, sadly. You could use the single coil 4-ohm version of the Kicker in the link below. This is a much better match powerwise between the Soundstream amp and the subwoofer. I would advise using a small enclosure for the Kicker, you would have to do serious modifications to make this fit/work in a center console, there simply is not enough space. If you are willing to tackle a custom project check out the second link below. This is to Kicker's CompRT 6 3/4" speaker. This can only handle 150 watts, but could fit into the center console with custom modification. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_206CWCS84/Kicker-44CWCS84.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20648CT672/Kicker-48CWRT672.html

Q
Would it work if I were to use two of these in the rear deck of a 2007 Toyota Yaris sedan with factory radio?
luis  Jan 09, 2023
1 answer
A
These fantastic Kicker CompC 8" subwoofer's will not be able to perform properly on factory radio power, Luis. These would also require significant modification to fit your Yaris. Check out the Kicker KS Series 3-way 6x9 speakers in the link below. These fit your ride, work well on factory radio power, and provide great bass. We give you a free bracket and harness that matches your Yaris to help you get connected, and you can even add an amp up to 150-watts RMS with these! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20647KSC93/Kicker-47KSC69304.html

Q
Would this subwoofer fit in a 2007 Toyota yaris?
luis  Jan 08, 2023
1 answer
A
We don't have the measurements for the stock subwoofer in a 2007 Yaris so we are unable to confirm whether or not that particular Kicker would fit. If you are able to take out the stock one and take measurements, we can compare that to the ones on the Kicker and use that. We have advisors available at 800.324.9695 that can help out so please give us a call!

Q
Can I Replace factory sub in my 2013 expedition EL with this?
samuel (jay)  Aug 19, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Samuel, and thank you for your question. Technically it will fit. You may have to re-drill new mounting screws, or fabricate a mounting bracket. Your factory subwoofer is a dual voice coil 1.3 ohm. This Kicker CWCD84 will not get the right amount of power from the factory amplifier. It will need an aftermarket amp as well.

Q
will this fit in deck of 08 civic coupe ?
ben  Jun 22, 2022
1 answer
A
These will be too large to fit without modifications. We do not currently have research on custom installation of this speaker for your Civic. Nevertheless, our advisor are happy to help with picking subwoofer options at 1-800-324-9695.

Will it work as a replacement for my stock sub and using my stock Bose amp in my 2011 CTS coupe with Navi?
kashus  Oct 24, 2021
1 answer

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Will it fit 2011 bmw x5 35i?
alanzo  Jul 14, 2021
1 answer
A
No, this does not fit the factory subwoofer enclosure. The factory subwoofer is a flat 9" driver mounted to a bracket with a proprietary 4-Hole bolt BMW pattern. We do have some other direct fit options for that car. Give us a call at 1-800-324-9695 and we'll be happy to help you find a replacement!

Q
Will this fit a factory sub for a 2018 Camry JBL system?
dean  Apr 07, 2021
1 answer
A
The factory subwoofer is approximately 9" and has a proprietary bolt pattern. A bracket must be fabricated in order to install this subwoofer into that location.

Yes, as long as you have the proper harnesses installed with the aftermarket head-unit.

I have a 2018 Honda Civic and I had to modify the back deck,, but it works pretty good. Not a huge amount of bass due to open trunk area, but vast improvement from stock..

Will this sub work with the stock amp in 2002 suburban?
tyler  Dec 12, 2020

A
Yes
enrique  Apr 28, 2022
A
Technically, this subwoofer can be wired to a 2 ohm load and connected to the stock amp pulling the same amount of power as the stock subwoofer did. However that power is lower than recommended for a subwoofer like this and is best to power with an aftermarket amp

Q
Would this speaker be compatible with a 2013 Hyundai sonata 2.0 turbo (rear deck)?
alan  Oct 04, 2020
1 answer
A
This subwoofer can work in the rear deck factory sub location once new mounting screw holes are drilled to hold it in place. It will not work well with the stock amp. If you are hoping to find a subwoofer that can fit and work with the stock amp, I recommend contacting an advisor using 1-800-324-9695 to get a personal recommendation from our current models

are the Kicker 44CWCD84 CompC 8" weatherproof ?

Nope
enrique  Apr 28, 2022
A
They appear so. I have it in the center console of my Jeep LJ and run with no top 6months out of the year. It's been rained on numerous times and I've never had any problem with the sub working.
brad  Jul 21, 2020
Q
This speaker came up for fitting in my 2017 Subaru WRX in the rear upper deck as a replacement for the stock sub there. Would this be a direct replacement that wouldn't need any additional wiring or anything, plug & play essentially?
shawn  Apr 26, 2020
1 answer
A
This subwoofer is not a direct fit replacement. In order to mount it, you must drill new screw holes into the mount in the vehicle. Also, this subwoofer is not recommended to be used with the stock amp in that vehicle as its ohms do not match. We may have subwoofers that can and I recommend contacting an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to check our current inventory

I have a Sony DSX-A405BT Digital Media Receiver. Do I need to purchase an amplifier for this sub or can I hook it up directly to the receiver?

you need an outboard amplifier, i would use a good quality 100W or stronger amp, preferably from a name brand company like Rockford Fosgate,MTX,Alpine or even Sony
charles  May 31, 2018
A
I'm not really qualified to answer this question as I don't know anything about that receiver. Mine works just great on the stock GM radio without an amp although a separate sub amp would most likely make it better. I'm sure the Crutchfield guys could answer that for you.
jeffrey  May 31, 2018
A
I think so. You probably wont have the power to drive the woofer enough to get the full performance of the woofer though.
