About the Bose Bass Module 500

Emily S.

Big bass with a small footprint

Looking for more bass with your Bose Smart Soundbar? just add the Bose Bass Module 500. Much like the companion sound bar, its small size belies the impact it will make on your living room audio system. You might not expect such booming bass to come from a compact, 10-inch cube.

Big bass with a small footprint

And if you run Bose's ADAPTiQ® room calibration system, the sound will be adjusted to suit the unique characteristics of your room. That way you get deep bass that's well-balanced, not overwhelming.

Surround yourself

Want an even more immersive experience? Add a pair of wireless Bose Surround Speakers. These compact speakers work seamlessly with this system to deliver complete wraparound sound effects.

Features

Bose Bass Module 500: The Bose Bass Module 500 has been designed to perfectly complement the Bose Soundbar 500 (sold separately). It also works with the Bose Soundbar 300, Soundbar 700, Soundbar 900, and SoundTouch 300 (both sold separately). If you desire even more bass, you can wirelessly connect two Bose Bass Module 500s to a compatible Bose Soundbar speaker.

Wireless Connectivity: It connects wirelessly to the Bose Soundbar 500/700/900 and the SoundTouch 300. It has a wireless range of approximately 30'. The Bose Music App (for Apple iOS 12.0+ and Android OS 6.0+) is used to wirelessly connect the Bose Soundbar 500, 700, or 900 to the Bose Bass Module 500. The SoundTouch 300's remote control is used to make a wireless connection between the soundbar and the Bass Module 500.

Hardwired Input: If for some reason a wired connection is preferred, the Bose Bass Module 500 and the Bose Soundbar 500, 700, or 900 can be hardwired together using a standard 3.5mm audio cable. This is a proprietary mono-minijack 3.5mm hardwired connection and cannot be utilized with other brands or models of soundbars.

Placement: For best sound quality, the Bose Bass Module 500 should be placed on the floor against the same wall as the television and soundbar, with an electrical outlet nearby for the power cord. It should not be placed on a shelf or table. For more bass, the Base Module 500 should be placed closer to walls and corners. For less bass, the Bass Module 500 should be pulled away from walls and corners.

AC Power: The wireless powered sub requires AC power and comes with a detachable 5' AC power cord.

ADAPTiQ Audio Room Calibration: After you have positioned the Bose Base Module 500 in your room, plugged it into an AC power outlet, and connected it to your Bose Soundbar 500/700 or SoundTouch 300, you'll use the ADAPTiQ (headset supplied with soundbar speaker) to auto calibrate the system.

Optional Wireless Surrounds: In addition to the Bose Bass Module 500 and for a fully immersive sound experience, add the Bose Surround Speakers (sold separately) to your Bose Soundbar 500 or 700.

Customer Q&A

Q
Is it better to use the wired connection to a subwoofer 500 from the soundbar 600 ?
william  Oct 10, 2023
1 answer
A
This tends to be a personal preference issue, William. Performance from the Bose Bass Module 500 is excellent when connected wirelessly and can be very convenient with less wires in your setup, but you can also take advantage of the wired connection if you prefer. Personally, I will always consider a wired connection more reliable that wireless, and there may be a slight difference in sound quality for the better with a wired connection if you choose a high-quality cable. The AudioQuest Evergreen 3.5mm cable in the link below would be an outstanding choice, and it is available in a wide variety of lengths to suit your install needs! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_703EGMM3M/AudioQuest-Evergreen-3-meters-10-feet.html

Q
Does Bose music app adjust the Soundbar tuning when the sub is attached? (I.e. Change crossover frequency, and/or use in board speaker for more midrange sounds)
joe  Jan 27, 2022
1 answer
A
Bose does not specify any automatic frequency response changes when you add the sub; but, you can still use the Bose Music app can adjust the bass and treble levels.

Q
What is the typical connectivity range between the 500 sound bar and the bass module?
paul martin  Feb 17, 2021
1 answer
A
We do not have a way to track our customers experiences. Bose lists there as being an operational range of up to 30 feet for the connectivity between the bar and this bass module

Q
Can Bose Bass 500 be connected to TV directly without the sound bar?
roland  Nov 26, 2020

A
No
nicanor  Dec 04, 2020
A
Nope. The Bose 500 bass module connects wirelessly directly to the sound bar. There's no way to connect it to any other device.

Q
Can this be used with a regular 14 gauge wired system connected to a receiver?
stanley davi  Feb 19, 2020
1 answer
A
The signal wire this "subwoofer" (it's not a subwoofer) uses is a standard 3.5mm male-to-male audio cable, which is NOT provided by Bose as Bose relies on their bluetooth signal to send the audio to the device. If you want to use a physical signal, you will want to bring your own 3.5mm cable. Note: The audio fidelity is not a problem since this type of speaker is not meant to provide high quality (it's supposed to only provide "bass." That said, if you can get it to connect via BT, you're good and won't notice a difference. Note: If you're coming from a HiFi system with a traditional receiver, separate REAL subwoofer, Real satellite speakers (vs. sound bar), you will experience a huge difference and may not like this setup (sound bar and fake subwoofer combo). Their real subwoofer is their 700 model which contains a 10" driver/woofer. Note: Even w/ their 700 woofer, it's still very disconcerting for more people coming off a traditional system (myself included and I'm returning the bar and both woofers I tried as a result). I'm not surprised, but I had to try and see if Bose created miracles... which they don't (even though their on-ear & in-ear speakers are very good).
