Powerful and practical

Kicker's compact KMC2 digital media receiver packs a lot of performance into an easy-to-install package. If you're tired of settling for sub-par sound in your small boat or powersports vehicle, this gauge-mount receiver is a great solution.

Kicker KMC2

Perfect for boats and powersports vehicles

Ideal for ATVs, boats, golf carts, and more

This receiver fits into a standard gauge opening, so it's a great pick when you want a lot of sound, but don't have a lot of space to work with. It's tough, versatile, and IPX6 weather-resistant, so go ahead and jump that wave or splash through that mudhole – your receiver is built take it.

All sorts of entertainment options

You can use the built-in Bluetooth® to stream music from your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device. If you want to enjoy your own weekend playlist, you can plug a music player into the rear aux input or pop a thumb drive into the rear USB port.

You can also tune into your favourite local radio stations using the AM/FM tuner. And if you're planning to add an amp to your system, you'll appreciate the two sets of rear-mounted preamp outputs.

Made for the great outdoors

The big, clearly marked buttons are easy to see and easy to operate, especially when you're wearing gloves. The big LED display gives you the info you need, while the watertight, UV-resistant face and durable controls will stand up to the rigors of marine and outdoor use.

This marine digital media receiver will not play CDs.

Features

IPX6 Certified: The Kicker KMC2 multimedia gauge-style receiver features IPX6 waterproof certification, so it can hold up in the marine environment and withstand powerful splashes of water out on the ocean or lake. During testing, water is projected at all angles through a 12.5mm nozzle at a flow rate of 100 liters/min at a pressure of 100 kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: Thanks to built-in Bluetooth, you can wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, or other Bluetooth source device to the KMC2 multimedia gauge-style receiver. The unit offers Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track control (there is no song/artist info display).

Note: This unit does not offer support for Bluetooth hands-free phone communication.

USB-A Port: The Kicker KMC2 multimedia gauge-style receiver is fitted with a rear-panel USB-A port attached to the rear-chassis via a 6" cable and comes with a 40" USB extension cable. The USB-A port allows you to plug in your USB mass storage class device (like a USB thumbdrive or portable digital audio player) for playback of MP3 (up to 320kbps) music files. You USB MSC device must be formatted in FAT32. The unit offers Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track control (there is no song/artist info display). If your USB MSC device can be charged via USB, the unit's USB (5V/1A) port will charge your device while connected.

Note: The unit's USB port does not support Apple iPod/iPod/iPad, Android smartphones/tablets, HDDs, or USB hubs.

Aux Input: The Kicker KMC2 is equipped with a rear-panel stereo RCA Aux input attached to rear-chassis via a 6" cable. The stereo RCA aux input allows you to connect an external audio device with a stereo RCA output. If you have a source device that has a 3.5mm output, then you will need a stereo RCA-to-minijack adapter (sold separately).

Optional Panel Mount Input Port: The Rockford Fosgate Punch PAUX (sold separately) is a panel-mounted input port that allows you to have easy access to the KMC2's USB and Auxiliary audio connections. This port is designed to extend these types of connections from the back of the digital media receiver to an easily accessible spot on your boat. This helps eliminate unsightly cables and provides a more secure connection for your mobile devices.

AM/FM Radio: The Kicker KMC2 multimedia gauge-style receiver features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, & preset tuning. You can store up to 18 FM and 12 AM station presets. Stations can be stored automatically using the APS (Auto Preset Store) button. You can also select between US and European tuning.

Audio Section: The KMC2 is equipped with a built-in 25W (RMS) x 4-channel amplifier. It is also outfitted with front & rear preouts to connect an external marine amplifier. The unit offers Bass& Treble control, as well as Balance & Fader. In addition, you select between 5 EQ presets - Flat, Classical, Pop, Rock, and Off. A Loudness features boosts bass frequencies at low volumes. You can even program the receiver's turn-on volume. Every time a button is pressed the unit outputs a beep tone (this can be turned off).

LCD Screen: The KMC2 features a front-panel LCD screen with black text and white background that is highly visible. The LCD screen indicates source input, AM/FM station number, and menu settings. This unit does not provide song/artist information.

Mounting Options: The Kicker KMC2 can fit in a boat's 3.625" gauge-style opening. If your boat does not already have a gauge-style opening, the marine digital media receiver requires a round 3.625" cutout in the bulkhead for inserting the chassis. The integrated protective gasket, supplied U-bracket, and included hardware secure the unit in place against the mounting surface. Receiver dimensions are as follows -

  • Chassis: 3.4375" (diameter) x 2.875" (depth)
  • Face-Plate: 4.437" (diameter) x 1.125" (depth)
  • Cutout: 3.625" (diameter) x 4.0625" (depth)
Note: The receiver is round and does not include a mounting sleeve or ISO-mount screw holes to accommodate standard automotive installation.

Optional Wired Remote: The Kicker KMC2 is compatible with Kicker's PXiRCX wired remote control (sold separately).

the KMC2 is just for 4 speakers, I will recommend to just add a small amplifier for the extra 2 speakers

I've got 2 Kicker 6x9's and the Kicker powered sub, works fine.

I have poor hearing. I added (4) 6x9 marine grade inexpensive speakers to my boat, but I also installed them flush to the inside of my boat. My boat has a semi-hard top. The Kicker/speaker combination sounds incredible. I actually have to turn down volume, because they are so loud and clear. I installed inexpensive 4 omh speakers (but marine) because I suspected that I would have to replace them soon, since they are in a marine saltwater environment. The Kicker is powerful and has a protected UBS port, instead of a CD drive that will get the H beat out of it on a boat. Caution: Some of the Kicker's controls are not intuitive.

Q
Is there a weather cover available for this unit?
john b  Jul 05, 2019
1 answer
A
Hi John, thanks for your question. We do not carry any weather covers or face-plates that would work with the Kicker KMC2 receiver. However, this unit does have IPX6-rated certification. It can hold up in the marine environment and withstand powerful splashes of water out on the ocean or lake. During testing, water is projected at all angles through a 12.5mm nozzle at a flow rate of 100 liters/min at a pressure of 100 kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters. hi, sorry for the late response I have been travelling for work. I honestly do not know but I don't see why it would not work. I have used it with other Bluetooth devices like my phone so the signal from Bluetooth to Bluetooth would be the same. I might also try one.

I can't answer that for you, I always just paired mine with my phone and listen to apple music or pandora but I would think it would work if your CD player is a Bluetooth device and if not I'm pretty sure there's an auxiliary plug where you could wire it to it.

I'm not entirely sure, as I use it on a 20 ft. boat..So I don't have any issues. From what I understand, Bluetooth is generally reliable up to 33 ft. or so.

Q
Can you hook up a Sirius Satellite Radio receiver to the aux inputs?
tom  Mar 12, 2018
1 answer
A
The Dock-and-Play style satellite radio tuners are able to send audio to the aux input on a receiver like this one. I don't have any marine grade dock-and-play tuners and strongly suggest installing these so they are not in danger of getting wet. Here are our dock-and-play tuners: https://www.crutchfield.com/g_250150/Dock-and-Play-Satellite-Radios.html?tp=85 My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
Is this unit 2 ohm compatible? I love this unit but already have 4 2-ohm speakers installed
joseph  Sep 08, 2017
1 answer
A
It will be able to support it up to a certain volume level. Due to various differences in the recorded volume levels and/or an EQ adjustments that have been made, there is no good answer as to what that level will be for a 2 ohm speaker. You may want to call an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 for a personal recommendation on a system that will meet all your goals. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
Can you bridge the speaker output left and right to increase wattage ? I am only going to use 2 speakers
stephen  Jun 05, 2017
1 answer
A
I'm afraid the built-in 4 channel amplifier cannot be bridged to increase the output for a single pair of speakers. It would still produce 25 watts RMS x 4 (@ 4-ohm) with either 2 or 4 speakers connected. If you would like to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

The installation diagram shows to install a fuse inline with constant 12v hot. What size fuse does this require?
kraziewhitegui  Dec 10, 2016

A
The constant 12volt is just to retain the memory settings (clock, presets, audio adjustments) so a simple 5-10amp fuse will be plenty for this lead. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5
