Big woofer = big sound

The tough polypropylene woofer with its durable hi-roll rubber surround delivers surprisingly strong performance. Each Plus One+ woofer sports a significantly larger cone than speakers of similar size, adding plenty of punch to the speaker's smooth and accurate highs.

Perfect for any power supply

You can power these speakers with up to 90 watts of RMS power — they'll work well with an external amplifier, but they're also a good match for a factory radio or aftermarket stereo. Plus, these 3-ohm speakers combine with the speaker wire in your vehicle so your car stereo sees actual 4-ohm impedance, so you get a little more volume out of your system.

Woofers

Plus One+ Woofer Cones: Each speaker uses a larger cone than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a unique basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One+ design offers greater bass output and an increase in efficiency.

Hi-roll Rubber Surrounds: The hi-roll rubber surrounds allow the woofers a greater range of movement, resulting in longer X-max and more bass output.

Mounting: Without an adapter, the 6520cx woofers fit standard 6-3/4" applications. Given their required cutout, they will also fit 6-1/2" applications without an adapter, but new screw holes must be drilled. Using the included adapter brackets they can be mounted in a wide variety of 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications, without any modification.

Tweeters

Material: Each tweeter features a 3/4" edge-driven textile dome for smooth, accurate highs.

Mounting: The I-Mount tweeter mounting system and Starfish mounting brackets give you several different ways to mount the tweeters:

  • I-Mount: The tweeters can be surface- or flush-mounted with Infinity's innovative I-Mount system:
    • Surface Mount: Surface mounting the tweeters involves screwing the surface-mount cup to the mounting location, then inserting and locking the tweeter into the cup.
    • Flush Mount: Flush mounting is made easy through the use of the threaded flush-mount housing and plastic locking nut. Once a cutout is made, the tweeter is installed in the flush-mount adapter, then into the flush mount housing and inserted into the hole. The large plastic locking nut is threaded onto the adapter (from behind the mounting surface) to hold the complete assembly securely in place. When flush mounted, the tweeters may be angled for optimum response and imaging.
  • Starfish Mounting Brackets: The Starfish mounting brackets allow the tweeters to be installed in factory locations behind the grilles:
    • Bottom Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is secured to the underside of the grille panel. The tweeter must be inserted into the bracket and locked into place before the bracket is mounted.
    • Surface Mount: Once the Starfish bracket is trimmed, it is screwed to the top of the mounting surface behind the grille panel. Then, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.
    • Flush Mount: There are two sets of tabs to flush mount the tweeter in the Starfish bracket, yielding different mounting dimensions. The upper tabs mount the tweeter completely below the opening and are glued in place. The lower mounting tabs are screwed in place and result in a mounting height just under a half inch. Once the bracket is mounted, the tweeter is inserted into the bracket and locked into place.

Crossovers

Selectable Tweeter Output Level: Each 2-way crossover allows you to select the tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference; the tweeter level can be set to +3 dB or 0 dB.

Connections: The crossover inputs and outputs are screw terminals; they will accommodate bare wire or spade connectors up to 0.31" wide. There are four mounting holes in each crossover.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 4"
  • Height: 1-1/8"
  • Depth: 3-1/4" (plus wire)
Specifications

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.

Customer Q&A

Q
This set says that it is a 3ohm load. But its not very clear, are the mids 3ohms and the tweeters also 3ohms? If you use the crossover, then that would set up in parallel yielding only a 1.5 ohm load. Most 4channel amps are only 2ohms maximum stabilized. Or when it says its 3ohms, does it mean that the mids are 6ohms and the tweeters are 6ohms? I need to know because I want to wire these using the active crossover from my DSP & amplifier.

The tweeters measure 3.4ohm and the Mid measures 2.4ohm. That means the Tweeter is 4ohm and the Mid is 3ohm and will measure 2.4ohm with the crossover installed

Buddy that's quite a complicated question! My amp's output is 75rmsx4 at 4ohm +220rms at 4ohm (5th channel for sub). I am using these components since last 6months and they are working very well, very nice sound stage at front.

Q
Is the rms rating of 90w per speaker or per pair?
chad  Jul 02, 2017

A
I'm pushing 90w RMS to the Mid and 70w RMS to the tweeter with a 80hz-4Khz Bandpass filter on the mid and 4khz HPF on the tweeter both 24db slopes for an active front setup. The crossover filters simulate the passive crossover supplied. The mid has no filter in the passive speaker and it rolls off naturally at about 6-8khz.
edwin  Jul 24, 2018
A
no, per speaker. i am pushing about 100rms into mine with a 160hz hpf on a 24db slope

do i need an amplifier for these infinity speakers?

Works fine with my GMC pick-up, but based on the junk that i pulled out of my front doors, an upgrade would be wise. you could do it in stages if you want.

I wondered the same thing but after reading various Crutchfield guides I found that the sensitivity of 93 dB makes these speakers work well for factory units and you can also upgrade later with an amp if you like. My setup sounds great with just a factory deck! Very crisp sounds and some bass but not ear drum shattering like you could get with an amp. Overall very happy.

While not absolutely necessary, in order to really take advantage of the great sound these are capable of providing, it is highly recommended. A stock receiver probably would not handle it well; an aftermarket receiver with a higher output might provide decent sound and could be hooked up in the short term while you shop/save up for an amp; but for the long term/permanent solution, an amp would really bring these speakers to life. Best of luck.

I would use and amp to run these speakers.

Q
what gage wire should I run from the speakers to the amp?

Anywhere 16-18 gage will do the trick.
austin  Sep 17, 2016
A
You can use a range of 12-14 gage to the Amp.
don  Sep 15, 2016
A
I used 14awg wire for my set up. I'm using a 45w RMS x4 amp
eric  Sep 13, 2016

It depends on how big of an amp, quality 16 gauge is usually fine but some people like 14 for higher power handling.
promit  Sep 13, 2016

I didn't end up installing the Infinitys, exchanging them instead for Focals that worked with the factory wiring for my 2000 Jetta. My general response though would be to use quality wiring sized to fit your connectors properly both at your source unit and the speakers and that you will be able to successfully dress in the space available in the car. I don't think gauge or quality needs to be excessive in the car because it is a high background noise environment with limited space to dress cable properly and subtleties of high end cables will probably be lost.

Chris, It really depends on how much wattage you planning on sending to each speaker but I wouldn't use anything smaller than 14 gauge. If you are planning on any later upgrades or adding a subwoofer I would recommend a minimum of 16 gauge to minimize resistance. Hope this helps you!

Depends on the length of your run. Google it!
