Certified performance

Despite what you may have read elsewhere, all HDMI cables are not the same. Crutchfield's Premium High Speed HDMI cables are certified to handle the highest-quality signals currently available, including 4K Ultra HD video and HDR (High Dynamic Range). These cables offer premium performance without the premium price.

To help A/V enthusiasts get the most from their 4K gear, the creators of HDMI technology have developed a rigorous cable testing and authentication process: The Premium HDMI Cable Certification Program. Cables are tested to make sure they support the full 18 Gbps bandwidth provided by the HDMI 2.0 specification. Plus, an EMI test ensures that cables minimize interference with wireless signals. Finally, every length of every model line must pass the tests to receive certification.

The certification program also includes a special authentication label placed on every certified product. It's a response to all the counterfeit and no-name cables on the market that claim performance that they don't actually deliver.

Should you get a Premium HDMI cable?

At lengths of a few meters or less, any well-made "high-speed" HDMI cable should work fine in most 4K applications. But if you're connecting an Ultra HD Blu-ray player to a 4K TV — especially a longer run — a Crutchfield Premium HDMI cable will guarantee flawless performance.

Q
Need to make a sharp right bend at cable plug from back side of devices. Will this cable be able to do it without loosing signal?
gregg  Jul 28, 2021
1 answer
A
Cable plug is strong, you won't be able to bend it without breaking it. I recommend using a HDMI folding connector like the Philips SWV3475H/17 HDMI Foldable Adapter so you can turn 90 degrees up or down and connect the cable to it.
german  Jul 29, 2021
Q

Q
I'm hoping somebody can give me a 100% honest answer! If I bought this Crutchfield HDMI cable and hooked everything up, would I really find a noticable difference in picture or audio quality if I were to switch to a $200.00+ AudioQuest Carbon cable or something similar to that? I'm sure there would be a difference between some super cheap, no name HDMI cable and a quality made, brand name cable, but is there really that much of a difference between a quality made cable and an extra quality made cable?!
lawrence s  Sep 25, 2019
10 answers
A
my 2 cents would be probably not. high quality power cords? yes. high quality balanced or unbalanced interconnect analog cables? yes $25 HDMI vs $100+ HDMI? No
thomas  Oct 13, 2019
A
Hi Lawrence, thank you for your question. Depending on the length of cable you need, as well as if you will need a bend in your cable, that could create a need for you to check out some higher end cables that are built for those applications. The Crutchfield HDMI cable meets industry standards, offers exceptional picture quality, 4k and HDR compatible, and offers bi-directional Ethernet communication with other compatible components, as well as a CL2 rating which is safe for in-wall use. Feel free to chat with an Advisor online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695, if you would like to discuss your needs, to see if our HDMI cable will be best for your needs.

A
I don't believe the difference is worth the extra money. Completely satisfied with my purchase
daniel  Oct 13, 2019
A
previously , I bought the $149. cable. Super thick ,it had almost no flexibility and so heavy it stressed the HDMI socket every time I inserted it.Then I got this one .Happy ending with No noticeable difference although it may not last as long.
brandon  Oct 12, 2019
A
I am happy with my crutchfield cable. However, I've never purchased an audioquest cable so i am unable to make that direct comparison. But honestly, as long as the cable is of good quality, and has a the highest data rate i don't think there will be much noticeable differences, but that is just my opinion.
wesley  Oct 11, 2019
A
Generally speaking, you'd be wasting your money. Crutchfield's cables are tested and certified, and their build quality is great. The only difference between a $200+ AudioQuest Carbon cable and the Crutchfield cable is that if you buy the former you're making some AudioQuest executive's car payment for them.
beryl  Oct 11, 2019
A
Deferent. Picture some, Audio a lot better if you have Hi end sound system.
wahib  Oct 11, 2019
A
I haven't tried a high end high priced cable but I think the source of content would make the biggest impact first. As an example I have a high end TV. Picture quality from cable company using HDMI was good to crappy. WiFi Netflix was better. Over the air antenna with coaxial cable can be really good. If you have a really high end system with an exellent 4K player and you're not happy maybe you could eek out a little more resolution with the best cable but I'm not sure until you do a side by side
john  Oct 11, 2019
A
I don't think so those Crutchfield cables are premium cables and can handle 4K transmissions. I have more expansive HDMI cables and could not tell one from the other, my advice save some money and go wild with those cables, they are more than adequate.
jean-claude  Oct 11, 2019
A
I assume there isn't much difference. Enjoy your system and don't worry too much.

The HDMI cable is for connecting HD & 4K video sources to compatible receivers & displays (TVs). It does not provide any GPS capabilities in a vehicle. Q
The cable install man suggested component cables instead of HDMI from cable box to 65 in. Sony> Is this correct ?
jason  Mar 06, 2018
4 answers
A
There are purists that insist that component RGB is the way to go but I have never seen a visible difference. Also this is an all in one cable. You do not have to use a completely separate audio solution, it all travels on the same cable. Also HD and above will require an HDMI 2.0 or above to not throttle the video back to 1024. With that said, I have always found the delay between the source and the display while the handshake is going on between them annoying. If you have the component cables already I would hook them up and see for yourself. If not then I suggest that a high quality HDMI will probably suit your needs better. (Full Disclosure: I have a receiver with 7 HDMI inputs and an HDMI output to my 65" 4k TV in my home theatre/computer/gaming setup and I use this exact cable for all 8 connections so I am biased toward them)
paul  Mar 06, 2018
A
I would say no.The HDMI cable is for HD.Good luck.
david  Mar 06, 2018
A
No. A Single HDMI cable will give you multi channel audio and the best video, it is the simplest and best, so anything else doesn't make sense
thomas  Mar 06, 2018
A
HDMI carries both picture and sound, component cables only the picture. So if you use component cables you will also have to run an audio cable, digital or analog, for sound to your tv or receiver. It would be helpful to know why he'd suggest this. Is your tv an older model?
james  Mar 06, 2018
Q
How is the bi-directional Ethernet communication this HDMI cable has, used between components? If device 1 has Ethernet, and I connect device 2 with this cable, does device 2 also now have Ethernet connectivity? I'm not clear on how this feature is used.
sam  Nov 28, 2017
1 answer
A
If you could find gear that could send Ethernet signal via HDMI cable, then I'd expect this device to have a menu to tell it to get its signal this way. However, we have yet to have a device that could use this ability. Right now, its part of the HDMI standards and I'd say will always be part of it because that Ethernet ability was added with an earlier version of HDMI. Maybe one day we will see gear use it! Yes. It also works for less demanding HDMI applications. Here the term "Premium HDMI" isn't simply marketing/branding, it denotes certified performance in accordance with the Premium HDMI Cable Certification Program from the creators of HDMI. Click on "Overview" and you'll get more information.
