Product Research

Features

Overview: Simply plug in the Cambridge Audio BT100 Bluetooth Audio Receiver into the Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus or CX series component's rear-panel USB (type-A) port for wireless music streaming from many of today's most popular Bluetooth supporting devices; such as iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone, Android tablet, and Mac or Windows PC. The BT100 even supports the high-quality Bluetooth aptX CODEC, so you can stream audiophile quality music from your Bluetooth-enabled source device to the DacMagic Plus or CX series component.

DacMagic Plus Compatible: The Cambridge Audio BT100 Bluetooth Audio Receiver is specifically designed for Cambridge Audio's DacMagic Plus (779DACMPLB/S, sold separately) and CX series components. The BT100 can be plugged directly into the DacMagic Plus or CX series component's rear-panel USB (type-A) port, or you can use the included USB dock mount to connect the BT100.

Bluetooth A2DP: The Cambridge Audio BT100 supports Bluetooth A2DP wireless audio streaming. This means you can wirelessly stream music from your Bluetooth enabled iPhone, smartphone, iPad, tablet, or computer to your connected DacMagic Plus or CX series component.

Note: The Cambridge Audio BT100 does not support Bluetooth AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) or HFP (Hands Free Profile).

aptX Audio Enhancement: Bluetooth aptX, which is featured on a growing number of Android mobile devices as well as MacBooks and Apple desktop computers, allows audio to be broadcast wirelessly in significantly higher quality than over standard Bluetooth. You'll instantly notice more extensive dynamic range, deeper bass, and crystal-clear top end. Standard Bluetooth has an extremely variable performance and its weaknesses are very apparent to music lovers. Common complaints include a reduction in high-end clarity, muddiness or dullness in the midrange, and its reduced signal-to-noise ratio can cause listener fatigue. Conversely, Bluetooth aptX has a fixed performance standard to guarantee a consistently high-quality wireless music transfer. With almost CD-quality reproduction to offer, you'll instantly experience significantly greater dynamics and infinitely more detail from your favorite music.

Pairing: Your Bluetooth enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer must be paired with the BT100, initially.

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Cambridge Audio BT100.

Compatible Music Sources: The range of music available from today's smartphones, laptops, and computers is almost endless. In addition to music stored on your smartphone, tablet or computer; online music services like Pandora, iHeart Radio, Spotify, Rhapsody, SiriusXM, and of course other internet radio sources can be wirelessly transmitted to the BT100.

Q
I am trying to connect my DAC Magic Plus with connected BT100 to my Audio Technica LP60-XBT turntable but have been unable to do so. Both support Apt X so I am unsure what the issue is. Anyone have any advice?

To narrow the problem down, I'd try first pairing the turntable to your smartphone and make sure that when you play a record, you hear it on your phone. If that works, try pairing your phone to the BT-100 and make sure that when you play a song on your phone, you hear it through the DacMagic Plus. If that works and you're absolutely positive that you have the turntable and BT-100 paired, you may have to use something like an Audioengine B1 (that has TOSlink output that you would connect to the DacMagic Plus) instead of the BT-100. Compatibility between the turntable and each Bluetooth receiver would have to be verified case-by-case.

I'm not sure what the issue is, but I know I must press the button on the BT 100 and hold it until it blinks, then I get pairing. I occasionally have to "forget device", and re-pair the device. Good luck.

Does the BT100 work with the Stream Magic 6?

Yes. According to an article in 2014 on Whathifi : You can add further functionality by connecting the optional BT100 Bluetooth adapter. Costing £70, it will support aptX streaming direct from a tablet or smartphone.

That's a question for the seller. I don't know the specs off hand and don't have time to search the manual. I can say it works throughout my 650 sq ft apartment. BUT here's the big BUT: it's very shoddy. It's been cutting out recently. Day one was fine with mp3 files in QuickTime and in iTunes. Streaming YouTube in Safari no - very choppy (sound cuts in and out a lot) and then big .wav files also cut in and out constantly. This is all from my laptop in an adjacent room with open doors between. So I'm not impressed. I'm used to the Bluetooth connection on my UE Boom and my Sony wireless headphones which are both faultless and reliable. I'm afraid this Bluetooth device was a waste of money for me. If I learn how to fix it I'll update this answer. Thanks.

The Cambridge Audio BT100 Bluetooth Audio Receiver is specifically designed to work with Cambridge Audio's DacMagic Plus. A product like the Peachtree BT1 will work with nearly any receiver: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_731BT1/Peachtree-Audio-BT1.html
