Product Research

Features

Bluetooth Hands-free & Audio Kit: The Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo (BTAX2SR) is a Bluetooth (v2.1+EDR) hands-free phone & wireless audio kit for your vehicle. Its a quick and easy way to add hands-free calling and wireless music streaming to your factory radio or aftermarket head unit. The MotorMouth III Stereo (BTAX2SR) allows you to make & receive hands-free calls, as well as play music from your phone to your car speakers, simply by using your vehicles factory Aux input or your aftermarket head unit's Aux input.

Single Device Pairing: Your Bluetooth-enabled device must be initially paired with the Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo. You may or may not need to enter a pass-code (varies by phone). Once paired, the Bluetooth Hands-free & Audio Kit will automatically connect with your device when you power on the Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo. It can only be paired with one device at a time (does not support multi-device pairing or connection).

Hands-Free Phone: The Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo (BTAX2SR) supports hands-free communication (HFP/HSP) from your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone or smartphone (such as your Apple iPhone, Android smartphone, Windows Phone, or Blackberry). You can answer and end a call from the hands-free phone & wireless audio kit; all other phone functions will still be done from your device. The Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo's built-in mic carries on your side of the conversation, while the other party is heard through your vehicles speakers.

Wireless Music Streaming: The Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo (BTAX2SR) supports wireless audio streaming (A2DP/AVRCP) of stored music and music apps on your Bluetooth-enabled device. Audio will be wirelessly transmitted from your Bluetooth-enabled device to the Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo, then sent to your car stereo through its Aux input, and played back through your vehicle's speakers. You can control Play & Pause functions from the hands-free phone & wireless audio kit; all other playback & search functions will be done from your device.

Rechargeable Battery: The Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo features a built-in rechargeable battery that provides up to 6 hours of talk & music, or 84 hours of standby time. The battery can be recharged using the included 12-volt charger, which plugs into your vehicle's 12-volt power port or cigarette lighter adapter port. A full charge takes approximately 1.5 hours.

Note: When the battery becomes low, a Red LED flashes once every 30 seconds along with three "beeps" every 30 seconds.

Device Charging: The included 12-volt power adapter features a USB (type-A) charging port that can be used to charge your mobile phone or smartphone device. The USB charging port is rated at 5V/1A.

Auto Standby: The Scosche MotorMouth III Stereo (BTAX2SR)  will automatically turn off in order to save power, if no device is connected for approximately 5 minutes.

As you can see from the picture, you would need to plug this in to an aux input, this WILL NOT work with your car,you need to get the bluetooth adaptor that connects to the antenna input on you car radio, you tune to a certain station on fm,the bluetooth, signal connects to the box on the antenna input, presto!you get your music!
tim  Mar 18, 2019

You will definitely need an aux in jack, same type of plug as a headphone. That's how this bluetooth adapter gets the signal to your stereo.

How do i fix the wires?
abigail  Feb 19, 2019
2 answers
A
Hi! The only "wire" you need is the charging cable. Make sure that the unit is powered up ( there should be red and blue lights) and turn your stereo to 'aux'. Set your Bluetooth to match the unit ( can't recall exactly which it is) but you should find the first one on the list, then wait for it to connect and you are ready to go!

You would use SIRI or another voice command program within your cellphone for outgoing calls . It has really good sound and works very well in my 2014 F150. The Bluetooth also lets me listen to the music that is accessible from my phone.

Q
My vehicle already has bluetooth for phone calls. Can this device be used to stream only while keeping the OEM bluetooth for handsfree calls?
james  Sep 25, 2016
1 answer
A
Most phones can only be synced with one Bluetooth device at a time, so, if your phone is paired with the Scosche BTAXS2R, you will not be able to use the factory Bluetooth for hands-free calling at the same time. The Scosche supports both hands-free calling and stereo audio streaming so, you can use it for both features. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
How do you re-pair Bluetooth to a new phone?
coniesha  Sep 23, 2016
2 answers
A
If you go to settings then to Bluetooth turn it off, then activate your Scosche device, turn your phone's Bluetooth on and you will see the BATAXS2R it will connect automatically. One of the great features of this devis is that it talked to you and tells you when it's powered up and connected.
phil  Sep 24, 2016
A
go to Bluetooth on your phone. Plug the Motormouth 3 into the Aux jack and the power end inserted into the cigarette lighter receptacle. Under Bluetooth on your phone, click on search device, or search for device. The screen on your phone will indicate that the phone's Bluetooth is searching for your device. When it is paired, the name BTAXS2R should appear on the phone's screen. It might ask you to pair. If it does, click on OK and wait for the word " Paired" to appear on your phone's screen . You are then paired. Close the phone and make a call. Clint Rogers

phil  Aug 10, 2016

Hi Ruth, I love the hands free. To receive a call, you have to press the button once and be on auxillary. Nothing has to be done to complete a call.

Q
Do you need to speak extra loud for the other party to hear you well? Is the sound quality generally pretty good?
tara  Jun 05, 2016
5 answers
A
No. Normal speaking is generally adequate for the other party to hear you well. Overall fairly good device. Have not experienced any issues or problems. Music streaming is also very clear and crisp with excellent stereo separation.
andy  Jun 09, 2016
A
With the sunroof and windows open its a challenge but without that I talk in a normal voice with no complaints!
lauri  Jun 08, 2016
A
I just talk normal like I was standing next to the person talking. I am very happy with this device
brad  Jun 06, 2016
A
My experience has been that I don't need to talk especially loud (but I'm used to public speaking, so my idea of not "especially loud" may not match yours). Sound quality is fine (and I spend a lot of time saying "excuse me?" in normal conversation, but things like the Google Maps voice come through loud and clear for me).
joseph  Jun 06, 2016
A
Not at all. I actually use it with my convertible top down without yelling.

Q
My Silverado radio does not have an AUX setting. Will this work anyway?
bruce  May 07, 2016
4 answers
A
The device plugs in to a 3.5 mm jack, which looks like a headphone jack. If you don't have that, there's no way the device will interact with the radio.
nikola  May 08, 2016
A
NO
steven f  May 07, 2016
A
No, it transmits to your car system through the Aux input.
jorge  May 07, 2016
A
Will not work. Need an aux input.
william  May 07, 2016
Q
what extension cord will work for the blue tooth? My aux is in the center console of the car, and I want the mic to be closer to me.
trisha  Apr 14, 2016

A
Any 3.5mm ext should work but mine is located in the center as well and it works great. I've had no issues of people hearing me at all yet and I use mine often. Hope this helps
brad  Apr 15, 2016
A
I'd expect a standard 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo extension cable to work. Crutchfield sells one that looks likely under the name "Hosa Mini Headphone Extension Cable"
joseph  Apr 15, 2016
A
I have it installed in a Mini Cooper where it cannot plug directly into the jack due to space issues so I used a male to female 4" mini headphone jack extension cable. Works like a charm.
lauri  Apr 15, 2016
Q
what is the battery life on the unit when it is not charging?
andre  Apr 05, 2016
1 answer
A
Per Scosche's website, the BTAXS2R motorMOUTH III has a built-in battery that offers up to 6 hours of phone calls/music listening or up to 84 hours in standby (off). The built-in battery also takes 1.5 hours to fully charge. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

No wires connected to the phone. The unit simply plugs into an aux port and creates a Bluetooth connection for your phone. There is a port on the bottom of the unit for charging.

No it does not.
