The PAC SWI-CP2 Steering Wheel Control Adapter replaces these items:

Product Research

Features

Steering Wheel Control Interface: PAC's ControlPRO SWI-CP2 retains the built-in steering wheel controls in select vehicles when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket radio. It also allows the retention of rear seat controls (RSC) and retained accessory power (RAP) in select vehicles. The SWI-CP2 is compatible with many of today's most popular vehicles, even with more complex electronic systems including CAN bus, GMLAN, and Class II systems. The simple to use interface module can be configured in multiple ways - via dip switches, direct from a USB connected PC, or a button learning procedure. Wiring and vehicle configuration dip switch settings are provided through the ControlPRO Web-App, or the ControlPRO App for Apple iOS and Android OS.

Vehicle Compatibility: The PAC SWI-CP2 steering wheel control interface is compatible in vehicles equipped with CAN Bus, GMLAN, Class II, LIN Bus, I-Bus, and Analog or Serial Data SWC. Compatible vehicle makes include Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Harley Davidson, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes, Mercury, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Porsche, Ram, Saab, Saturn, Scion, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.

Note: The Click here for a complete list of compatible vehicles.

Programming & Configuration: The PAC SWI-CP2 steering wheel control interface offers 3 programming & configuration methods.

  • ControlPRO MobileApp: With this method, the SWI-CP2 uses a pre-determined dipswitch configuration to assign the vehicle and SWC button functionality. The dipswitches on the side of the interface must be manually set to the proper configuration by the user. These vehicle specific dipswitch settings can be found by downloading PAC's ControlPRO application (for Apple iOS 9.0+ and Android OS 4.0.3+).
  • ControlPRO Web App: With this method, the SWI-CP2 can be connected to your Windows PC in which PAC's ControlPRO Web App assigns the vehicle and SWC button functionality. The dipswitches on the side of the interface must all be set to down/on which is the default position. When using this method, it is not required to manually program the SWC buttons when programming via App mode.
  • Manual Programming: With this method the SWC values must be manually programmed into the SWI-CP2 by using the programming button. The vehicle dipswitches on the side of the interface must all be set to the up (off) position. The radio dipswitches must be set to the proper radio configuration (see Instructions). This mode is only compatible in vehicles with both analog SWC and a discrete 12v Accessory wire; vehicles with CAN-Bus buttons cannot be manually programmed.

Two-Function Assignment: The PAC ControlPRO SWI-CP2 allows you to program two radio functions to each SWC button on your steering wheel by using short press/long press dual command functionality.

Retained Accessory Power (RAP): In vehicles equipped with retained accessory power (RAP), the accessory output and the red LED will remain active & keep the radio on for 10 minutes unless the driver side door is opened. In vehicles that do not support RAP, the LED and accessory output will shut off when the key is switched or removed from the ignition.

Q
Will this work on a 2003 ford focus SVT? I was recommended to use part number 541SWIRC, but noticed it says it is unavailable or discontinued. Is this a new/updated part that will work in its place? Thanks
dukati  Dec 26, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Dukati. Thank you for your question. Yes this is the replacement from PAC, it is compatible with the 03 Focus, and most aftermarket stereos that we carry.

Q
Does this work on Sound Storm Laboratories SDML9ACP?
brian j  Apr 22, 2023
1 answer
A
We cannot guarantee any steering wheel control functionality with radios we do not sell, Brian. Sound Storm Laboratories is not specifically listed as supported, though this PAC SWI-CP2 does have a dipswitch setting for "other" radios (Advent, Boyo, Dual, Lightning Audio, Jensen, Rockford Fosgate & Visteon are listed specifically). Any items purchased can also be returned within 60-days for a refund, so no worries!

Q
I paid extra to have a Crutchfield tech prewire the PAC SWI-CP2 Steering Wheel Control Adapter and doesn't work. As a matter of fact I don't see how this adapter can work if we are not using the original steering wheel plug in. Shouldn't the set up for this device use the steering wheel plug in anywhere in the wiring?

Q
Will this work with my Pioneer AVH-W6500NEX head unit ?
brandi  Jul 22, 2020
1 answer
A
Not sure, I bought a Pioneer DEH-X8800BHS. I couldn't get it to work tho. Tried hooking it up to that head unit and it was a no go. It's possible my steering wheel controls could be bad, I didn't diagnose it or ultimately hook it up.

My radio doesn't have a microphone jack what do I do?
stalin  Nov 23, 2019

The blue/yellow wire is the SWC output in the harness. That is what you would use if you don't have a 3.5mm input. If you purchased the radio or harness from Crutchfield you can contact our tech support for troubleshooting. Their number will be at the bottom of your invoice or account login.

Q
will i need to buy the METRA 40-EU56? or only this product?
alejandro  Aug 04, 2019
1 answer
A
This PAC part is only a steering wheel radio control interface. If we list the Metra 40EU56 antenna adapter for your vehicle, you will need to get the Metra part to get the stock FM antenna working with the new radio along with this part to keep the steering wheel radio controls working with the new radio.

Q
Will this work to connect a wired marine remote to a automotive head unit?
jaycee  Aug 16, 2018
1 answer
A
It will not. Sadly, I've never found an interface for that and have had to recommend customers replace the remotes with the the new radio they get for their boat. We have advisors that can make sure you get a new radio that works with wired remotes so this can be done. You can call 1-800-324-9695 to get this personal recommendation. Q
Is it compatible with OEM premium audio amplifier on 2008 Ram?
chris  Sep 04, 2017
2 answers
A
The PAC SWI-CP2 is compatible with the factory steering wheel radio controls in your truck. As Steven mentioned; the adapter does not interface with the stock amplifier; just the factory steering wheel controls and the compatible aftermarket stereo. For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx
ryan  Sep 06, 2017 (Staff)
A
It shouldn't interfere with the stock amp. All this unit does is interface your stock steering wheel audio controls so they work with your aftermarket stereo head unit. If you are installing a new head unit, what's when you'll want to make sure you order the wiring harness adapter that will retain use of the stock amp.

Power Acoustik PD-625B Compatible?
riley  Jun 07, 2017

A
Thanks for your question. Crutchfield does not carry that brand of receiver. The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For more information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
