Q
For small ceiling speakers is there any harm is using regular wire behind drywall? Itâ??s already there and I do t want to pull down drywall to replaceâ?¦ For subwoofer and phono cables do you suggest something for behind wall, since I have not ran those yet. They will be behind baseboard Thanks.

Greetings Peter, and thank you for your question. In wall rated wire has shielding that suppresses fire. Hopefully we don't have to have that issue, but regular speaker wire has a shielding that's more susceptible to spread any in wall fires. Technically, I have to say use in wall rated speaker wire. To be up to builders code, you must have in wall rated wire. RCA cables and subwoofer cables are not usually in wall rated, but most run them in the wall if they have to .There are wireless subwoofer kits that work as well as wire, and would cost about the same as a very long subwoofer cable. Something to think about. You are more than welcome to contact one of our advisors at 800-324-9695 to discuss whats best for you.

Q
what is the max distance 16/2 wire can be ran from amp to speaker?

If you are using an 8-ohm speaker you can run around 48 feet, and with a 4-ohm speaker you are best staying under 24 feet Jeff. For higher power over a longer distance 14/2 is the choice! I've linked a cool little FAQ page with a handy basic length chart where max lengths represent around 5% power loss or less. I hope this helps! https://soundcertified.com/what-size-speaker-wire-guide/

If the wires are going to be outside experiencing weather, you should use conduit
