Q
Will the kit fit in the spot as original radio? Instead of putting the old one back.

A
No, the original radio must stay in place. This kit is the way to go. It puts your new radio in the pocket in front of the shifter. I prefer this kit over the Metra one.

A
No. The old one will just be a blank screen with the new one down below where the storage pocket is.

Q
How do the hvac controls still work with this kit? Does the factory faceplate fit over the radio trim?

Hello, the CD player (Where the CD goes in is removed) and this goes in its place. The area where the AC controls are still there and they still work normally. I am assuming you will be replacing the radio using a converter kit. This makes all of the top controls as well as the display completely inoperable so I recommend you make ALL adjustments that require the screen before you put in the new radio as you will not be able to after. I have some pics and videos of my install but I can't put in any links here :( I also had to do some modifications as I used a double-din as well as a half/din EQ.

Your old radio controls and hvac will still be there, and the new one is below it. It's not ideal. And you lose functionality with menu, that screen is disabled.

This actually fits below the HVAC controls in the storage area below where the lighter/outlet is. Everything else works the same except I couldn't get the panel or display to light up after replacing the factory radio.

It will not interfere at all with HVAC controls the radio and HVAC are two separate components only the radio comes out
robert  Dec 29, 2018

You will still control the hvac with normal controls. The currently radio controls will also stay, but will no longer function. I swapped mine out about 12 months ago and love it. It comes with new trim/faceplate that covers radio.

Q
will a 7inx7inx4in pioneer double din fit in this dash kit?
chelus  Mar 18, 2017
3 answers
A
Any standard brand name double din radio will fit just fine. The off brands dont fit any kits properly because they can be slightly oversized. Stay away from any of the floating display radios as they will likely not physically fit in this location.
patrick t  Mar 29, 2022
A
I don't think it will. I installed a 7x3/78x61/2 Pioneer double din and it fits perfectly. Sounds like yours would be too large for the kit.

My screen is a 6.2 and it was a pretty snug fir
