Features

Add-On Bluetooth Receiver: The Helios AS-BTR lets you add Bluetooth wireless audio streaming to your existing home entertainment system. Your system simply needs a free auxiliary or audio input. Now you'll be able to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled source device to your home audio system.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The Helios AS-BTR features Bluetooth A2DP technology, which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled device to your home entertainment system (up to 32.8'). You'll be able to stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content on your Bluetooth-enabled device to your home stereo system. Compatible Bluetooth-enabled devices include many smartphones, tablets, computers, and laptops. You will continue to control your music and view song/artist/album information from your Bluetooth-enabled source device.

Note: Only one Bluetooth source device can be paired and connected at a time to the Helios AS-BTR. See User Manual for setup instructions.

Analog Audio Output: The Helios AS-BTR add-on Bluetooth receiver is outfitted with a single stereo minijack (3.5mm) output which allows it to connect to your home AV receiver, integrated amp, or powered speaker's auxiliary or audio input. A 19" stereo minijack cable is included. A stereo minijack to RCA cable (sold separately) will be required if your AV receiver or integrated amplifier features a stereo RCA input.

AC Power Adapter: The Helios AS-BTR add-on Bluetooth receiver operates off of standard household current using the supplied external AC power adapter with 19" cable.

Q
If I install this in my car, will it reconnect to the phone automatically as I go in and out of the car or will I have to pair it every time?
robert  Jan 19, 2024
1 answer
A
The Ethereal AS-BTR has a 120-volt power plug and is designed for home use, Robert. For mobile use, you can consider the Scosche BTFreq adapter in the link below, this would require you to pair your device each time for use. If you would like a connection that automatically re-pairs with Bluetooth we may have radio replacement options for your specific vehicle, you can check those options in the second link below with our Online Vehicle Guide! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_142BTFM/Scosche-BTFreq.html https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Will this adapter be compatible with my Bose wave radio?
greg  Jan 31, 2023

Greetings Greg, and thank you for your question. If your Wave radio has an auxiliary input then the Ethereal AS-BTR will be compatible.

Q
How many speakers can be connected to this at once? 2, 3 or 4

The Helios is meant to be connected to a low level input. I use mine to feed the aux input of a Bose Wave Radio. It works great. If you want to use it as a source for powered speakers, It will work fine, but any additional speakers would have to be driven by the powered speaker's amplifier and not directly by the Helios.Enter
michael  Apr 20, 2022
A
It depends on how many speakers your stereo allows. The Helios connects to your stereo, not to speakers. I connected the Helios to the aux on the stereo and search for the Bluetooth connection on my phone.
daniel  Apr 20, 2022
A
I have mine hooked into a Technics receiver powering a Bose 7 speaker surround sound system. Not sure of individual speakers.

Q
Can this attach to a television as well?
bobby  Jan 05, 2022

A
This is for transferring audio only via Bluetooth. There is no video connection such as HDMI.

Will this device work in a car using the USB cable with a cigarette lighter adapter, or does it need more power than the car will supply?

connor  May 12, 2021
A
Yes, this will work in a car using a cigarette lighter to USB cable and Bluetooth to radio/receiver.

Q
Hi, I have an IPod Nano, with a lot of live music. Can this product help "transforming" the IPod?
eddie  Feb 25, 2021

A
The Helios uses a Bluetooth connection to receive a signal from a source, for instance, an iPhone. The Helios then sends that info, music or whatever, by a cable to an amplifier and speaker system or the aux input of a radio. In my case, the Helios connects my wife's iPad to a Bose Wave radio. Sounds great. If your iPod has Bluetooth, the Helios will work for you.
michael  Feb 25, 2021
A
The product needs to be connected to a receiver with speakers in order to listen. However, you connect to the product via bluetooth. Apple does not list it as a option to directly connect.

Yes. Set the receiver volume high and adjust down with phone.
scott  Dec 23, 2020

Q
I have an older Onkyo CD receiver (CR-325) which is wired to Bose speakers with a sub woofer and has a small headphone jack on the front: will the Metra Helios AS- BTR work with this system to receive a blue tooth signal from a tablet?
gene  May 21, 2020

A
Yes it will.
timothy  Feb 10, 2021
A
This Bluetooth unit comes with an adaptor that goes into the rear of your unit in the Dock In jacks of analog (Red & White) inputs and outputs from Metra Helios unit with a 3.5MM headphone jack. I feel this should work.
spencer  May 21, 2020
A
It will work with any receiver with aux inputs. I use video 3 on mine because the input jacks are on the front. You need a cable with 3.5 mm male on one end and RCA males on the other end to connect between the adapter and your receiver.
paul  May 21, 2020
A
Just contact Crutchfield and ask one of their techs. They will walk you through all of your questions. That's what I did and they were fantastic
john  May 21, 2020
A
Not through the headphone jack on the front, which is for output. However, you probably have an "Aux" input port on the back which would work. That's the way mine is setup.
paul  May 21, 2020
Q
Will this play to Bluetooth speakers?
colleen  Apr 19, 2020

You connect to spearkers via 3.5mm jack that is supplied. Why would you use this if you have bluetooth speakers that you could connect directly to?
timothy  Feb 10, 2021
A
I am not familiar with Bluetooth speakers or with using the Metra Helios unit as a transmitter. Sorry
spencer  May 21, 2020
A
Yes, if you have problems just call Crutchfield and they will walk you through it till it works.
