Features

Advanced High Current (AHC) Amplifier: Powered by the Denon Advanced High Current (AHC) single push-pull circuit power amplifier, the PMA-800NE provides exceptional sound quality that balances high power with delicate, musical details. The Denon PMA-800NE integrated amplifier is rated for 50 watts x 2 channel (@ 20-20kHz, into 8Ω, with 0.07% THD).

24-Bit/192kHz DAC: The Denon PMA-800NE utilizes a 24-bit/192kHz DAC for high-resolution audio playback; supporting 16- or 24-bit Linear PCM with a sampling frequency of 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, or 192 kHz.

Main Transformer w/ Individual Wiring: To eliminate interference and maintain exceptional sound quality, the main power transformer of the PMA-800NE has separate coiled wires for the audio and control circuits. An integrated micro-processor features Stop Mode for even greater sound quality while you listen.

Micro-Processor Stop-Mode: The micro-processor of the PMA-800NE features a Stop Mode that automatically ceases all operations of the micro-processor when its not needed for playback. By stopping the oscillation of the micro-processor clock during these listening moments, the audio signal is protected from external noise and enhances sound quality.

Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC): The Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC) chassis developed by Denon is used in the audio circuit to ensure that delicate musical signals are faithfully amplified and transmitted to the speakers. This design technology makes sure you can listen with exemplary quality, every time.

Vibration-Resistant Design: The PMA-800NE's vibration-resistant design with Direct Mechanical Ground Construction reduces the adverse audio effects of heavy components within amplifiers so sound quality meets Denon standards. The power transformer, which is the largest vibration source among amplifier components, is outfitted with a 1.6mm thick steel plate to the mount, suppressing vibration created by the transformer as well as external vibration toward the transformer. By directly supporting the transformer with a steel plate, the vibration surrounding the chassis is reduced resulting in pristine sound.

Analog Mode: Analog Mode allows the PMA-800NE to operate as a purely analog amp, disabling coaxial digital and optical digital inputs while you listen to an analog source. Turn on Analog Mode to close power to the dedicated digital power source and stop operation of the digital input circuitry, avoiding any high frequency influence on the analog section of the PMA-800NE. Now, you can enjoy your favorite analog sources with uninhibited clarity and detailed reproduction.

Phono Equalizer (MM or MC): The Denon PMA-800NE includes a phono input and equalizer that supports connection of a turntable with either MM or MC cartridges. This phono equalizer has high gain, and unlike loops in other circuit board patterns which cause adverse effects on sound quality, the simple, straightforward design of the PMA-800NE phono equalizer significantly improves sound. There is a button on the front-panel that allows you to switch between an MM or MC turntable cartridge.

  • Input Sensitivity/Impedance: 2.5mV / 47kΩ (MM), 200μV / 100Ω (MC)
  • Maximum Input: 70mV / 1kHz (MM), 6mV / 1kHz (MC)
  • RIAA Deviation: 20Hz to 20kHz (+/-5dB)

Line-Level RCA Inputs: The Denon integrated amplifier is outfitted with four line-level, stereo RCA inputs labeled "CD", "Network", "Aux", and "Recorder". Use these analog line-level inputs to connect legacy devices, such as a CD player or tape deck.

Optical & Coaxial Digital Inputs: The PMA-800NE features three Optical (Toslink) digital inputs and one Coaxial (RCA) digital input that support PCM signals up to 192kHz/24-bit. Linear PCM signals (16- or 24-bit) with a sampling frequency of 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, or 192 kHz can be input into this unit. These digital inputs help to improve sound and visual quality of your TV audio, Blu-Ray, media players and more.

Note: The optical & coaxial digital inputs do not support Dolby Digital, DTS, DSD, or AAC.

A & B Binding Post Speaker Terminals: The Denon integrated amplifier provides A & B speaker terminals for connection of up to two pair of loudspeakers or bi-wiring a single pair of loudspeakers. The A & B speaker terminals consist of binding-post connectors that support bare wire (up to 10AWG), pin connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual).

  • Speaker A or B: When connecting only one pair of speakers, you can use loudspeakers with a 4 to 16-ohm impedance.
  • Speaker A & B: When connecting two pair of speakers, you can use loudspeakers with an 8 to 16-ohm impedance. The same audio source signal will be output to both pair of speakers.
  • Speaker A/B Bi-Wire: When bi-wiring one set of speakers using both A & B speaker terminals, you can use loudspeakers with a 4 to 16-ohm impedance.

Headphone Output: The Denon PMA-800NE is equipped with a front-panel 1/4" headphone jack for connecting a set of headphone so you can enjoy your music privately. Connecting a set of headphones does not turn off the amplifier's speaker outputs automatically. You will need to manually turn off the speaker output when listening to headphones.

Line-Level Recorder Output: Audio signals input into this unit can be output to an external recording device, using the integrated amplifiers stereo line-level RCA outputs. When recording audio from a playback device connected to this unit, audio can be recorded with the playback device still connected to the integrated amp.

Remote Control: The included IR remote control can be used to operate not only PMA-800NE integrated amplifier, but Denon CD players and network audio players as well. The remote provides Power, Input, and Volume control for the integrated amplifier; as well as playback control for select Denon CD players and network audio players. In addition, there is a 3.5mm IR Control input and output for connecting Denon CD players and network audio players with an IR controller.

Tone Controls: The Denon PMA-800NE offers Bass, Treble, & Balance control. Bass (100Hz) and Treble (10kHz) can be adjusted from -8dB to +8dB. The Balance knob allows you to adjust the volume output from the left and right speakers. The Bass, Treble, and Balance control knobs are found on the unit's front-panel only (not on remote).

Source Direct: When Source Direct is activated, the audio signal does not pass through the tone adjustment circuitry (Bass/Treble/Balance), resulting in playback of higher sound quality.

Auto Standby: When there is no input signal and no operation for approximately 30 minutes, this unit automatically enters Standby mode to conserve power and energy.

Protection Circuitry: This is a function to prevent damage to devices within the power supply when an abnormality such as an overload, excess voltage, or over temperature occurs for any reason.

Q
How do I connect my PMA 800NE to my AVR X1300W both Denon?
edwin  Aug 13, 2020
1 answer
A
The only way this integrated amp could connect to your receiver is to the zone 2 preamp outputs. However, we do not recommend connecting an integrated amp like this one to a receiver because it does not have a way to disable all controls including the volume control so it can work like a power amp. I recommend contacting an advisor using 1-800-324-9695 to discuss your goals and get a personal recommendation on gear that can work together to meet your goals

Thanks for the good reply.. appreciated???? Plan to hooked up a SVS pb1000 subwoofer.
joy  Nov 22, 2018
A
Those outputs are not volume controlled and should not be used to connect a subwoofer. The only way to connect a powered subwoofer to this unit is using its speaker level outputs. Some subwoofers have speaker level inputs and outputs so they can be connected to a unit like this one. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul

Q
Is there any sub out? or sub management with this unit. Can use the recorder analog out to the sub?
paul  Oct 27, 2018
1 answer
A
No sub out. Don't know how using the recorder analog out would effectively power a sub woofer as the recorder is a channel unto itself.
