A stereo for smartphones

When your music collection fits into your pocket, you need a car stereo that fits the way you play your tunes. JVC's KD-X350BTS digital media receiver features built-in Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, and an aux input, plus you can use a compatible phone to control whatever the receiver's doing. You can even add a SiriusXM satellite radio tuner (sold separately) and expand your entertainment horizons even more.

Works with your Android™

Android® users can control Pandora®, Spotify®, and iHeartRadio® right from the stereo through the Bluetooth connection — no wires needed. JVC's remote control app lets you use your compatible Android phone's touchscreen to control the action using finger swipes and gestures. With your Android phone safely attached to a mount, you can reach down and skip a track without taking your eyes off the road. You can also control your Pandora, Spotify, and iHeartRadio stations using your voice, your phone, or the receiver itself.

Also awesome for Apple®

If you're an iPhone® user, this receiver gives you more than wireless control — you get voice control, too. Talk to Siri® Eyes Free technology to make calls, choose music, get directions, and more. Anything you can do with Siri can be done with this receiver.

Experience satellite radio

If you're a satellite radio fan, you can connect a SiriusXM® tuner (sold separately) to your KD-X350BTS and start enjoying the wide variety of music, sports, news, and entertainment available. If you haven't experienced satellite radio, you'll be blown away by the incredible selection of music and more that comes with your subscription. Plus, you can drive cross-country without losing your favourite channels.

Play your tunes your way

The KD-X350BTS plays MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, and even FLAC files, so you'll be able to enjoy all kinds of tunes when you travel. You'll find a wide array of sound-shaping tools, including Sound Response to boost frequencies in digital files, Space Enhancement to match the sound to the size of your car, and a 13-band graphic equalizer. The 24-bit DAC brings out the best in each song, while the Volume Link EQ boosts specific frequencies in the audio signal to compensate for increased road noise as you drive faster.

The beginning of a bigger, better system

It's always smart to invest in a receiver you can grow with. The KD-X350BTS gives you three sets of 4-volt preamp outputs, which really come in handy when you add amplifiers and a sub to your car audio system.

Built-in Bluetooth®

Automatic pairing makes it a lot easier to enjoy hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming, no matter what kind of phone you're using. You can also pair two phones at once, so you don't have to choose between the personal phone and the work phone when you're driving.

Rock out and charge up

With your smartphone connected to the KD-X350BTS, you can listen to your phone's internal memory as one source and access its microSD card as another. You'll also appreciate the USB port's powerful 1.5-amp charging capability.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth Technology: The JVC KD-X350BTS is equipped with built-in Bluetooth 3.0, allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile) & PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.2 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) & AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the JVC KD-X350BTS. Check here for the latest Bluetooth compatibility information.

SSP & USB Pairing: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the JVC KD-X350BTS without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings. You can even pair your Apple iPhone (iOS 5+) or Android smartphone (running JVC Music Play App) by simply connecting it to the JVC head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display.

    • Dual Phone Connection: Thanks to the Dual Phone Connection feature, two Bluetooth-enabled phones can remain connected to the JVC receiver. This means you can an answer an incoming call from either phone from the head unit. Also, both of your phone's contact lists are downloaded to the receiver. To make a call from one of the phones using the JVC receiver, you simply have to select Phone 1 or Phone 2 on the head unit's front-panel.
    • Streaming DJ: The new Streaming DJ feature allows five Bluetooth audio source devices to be connected to the JVC receiver at one time, so you can switch between Bluetooth playback sources a lot easier and quicker. While "BT Audio" source is selected on the head unit, you can simply press the music playback button on your connected Bluetooth source devices to switch between devices and begin music playback. However, you cannot stream audio from two different Bluetooth audio source devices at the same time or combine music libraries or playlists from two different connected devices.
Note: You can pair up to five Bluetooth-enabled devices to the JVC head unit. When an already paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. And thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the KD-X350BTS provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The controls of the KD-X350BTS can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone (with mounting bracket) featuring adjustable gain, so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode.

    • Answering A Call: When a call comes in, a ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker and the caller's name or phone number will be displayed. You can answer the call from the head unit's front-panel controls, or setup the head unit to automatically answer the incoming call immediately or after 1-30 seconds. The KD-X350BTS also supports the Call Waiting function, so you can answer another incoming call while suspending the current call you are on. Your compatible cell-phone must also support this feature.
    • Dialing A Number: Using the KD-X350BTS, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:
      • Enter Phone #: Allows you to directly dial a phone number up to 32 digits from the head unit's front-panel rotary dial.
      • Preset Dialing: You can store up to 6 contacts in the memory of this unit for speed dialing.
      • Phone Book: You can download phone book data from your mobile phone to the digital media receiver. You can then dial a contact within the phonebook from the head unit's front-panel controls. Your phonebook can be searched alphabetically or numerically.
      • Call History: The Call History is a list of calls that have originated from and were received by this unit that you can dial. You can select Outgoing, Incoming, or Missed calls.
      • Voice Dialing: If your mobile phone supports voice recognition, then you can dial out by voice command. Simply speak into the included microphone once you have activated the voice dialing function from the head unit's front-panel.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The JVC KD-X350BTS supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or audio player, plus song/artist information display. You are able to stream your stored music library on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, as well as music apps downloaded on your smartphone to the JVC KD-X350BTS for playback.

    • SBC + AAC Codecs: In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the KD-X350BTS offers support of AAC. By supporting AAC, the KD-X350BTS offers better audio performance of the music streamed from your Apple iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
    • Advanced Music Browsing: In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the KD-X350BTS lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. (AVRCP 1.4 phones only; which includes Android 4.0+ and iPhone 5.0+).
    • Song/Artist Information: The head unit will also display your stored music and music app's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (not compatible with all apps).
Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Eyes Free Control: When paired to an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth, the JVC KD-X350BTS has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel control and external microphone. Simply press the "phone command" button on the KD-X350BTS to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the head unit and its microphone. You can even ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Bluetooth; the head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the KD-X350BTS; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).
    iPhone & Android Integration

Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0) Connectivity: The JVC KD-X350BTS's front-panel USB port lets you connect your AOA 2.0 compatible Android (OS 4.1+) smartphone for music playback. JVC does not guarantee operation with all Android devices, regardless of operating system. There are two Android AOA 2.0 modes to choose from based on what content you want to listen to and how you want to control it.

    • Auto Mode: The JVC KD-X350BTS supports Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets you connect your Android (OS 4.1+) smartphone to the KD-X350BTS's front-panel USB port and listen to stored music and music apps from your Android device through the JVC head unit. You'll be able to control basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Other advanced music navigation will still be done from your Android smartphone's touchscreen. In this mode, the head unit will not display song/artist information; only "Audio Mode" will show up on display. You'll continue to view song/artist information from the Android device's touchscreen. You'll also still be able to access other functions and applications from your Android smartphone's touchscreen, while listening to music through the head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
    • JVC Music Play App: Downloading the JVC Music Play app onto your Android (OS 4.1+) smartphone not only allows you to listen to stored music from your Android device through the JVC digital media receiver connected via USB, but it also lets you browse your Android smartphone's music library from the head unit's front-panel controls. You can browse your store music library by Playlist, Artist, Song, Album, or Genre. The contents of a Playlist or Category can be searched alphabetically or numerically. You can also control Play/Pause and Previous/Next track from the head unit. In addition, the head unit will display song/artist information. You can exit the JVC Music Play app to access other functions and applications of your Android smartphone, while your stored music library is still playing through your head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
Note: JVC does not guarantee operation with all Android devices.

iPhone Direct Connection: The JVC KD-X350BTS's front-panel USB port can be used to connect a Lightning-connector or 30-pin dock connector iPod/iPhone to the head unit (see chart below for compatibility). The KD-X350BTS supports audio playback, music navigation, information display, and charging of your compatible Apple device. If you have a newer iPod/iPhone with the Lightning-connector, you can use JVC's Lightning connector-to-USB cable (105KSU62, sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device to connect your iPod/iPhone to the KD-X350BTS. If you have an older iPod/iPhone with a 30-pin dock connector, you can will need to use the dock connector-to-USB cable that comes with your Apple device or a "Made For iPod/iPhone" 30-pin-to-USB cable (sold separately) to connect your iPod/iPhone to the KD-X350BTS.

    • Head Unit Control: From the head unit's front-panel controls you can search for stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, Podcast, Genre, and Composer. The contents of a Playlist or Category can be searched alphabetically or numerically. The KD-X350BTS also supports Repeat (file/all) and Random (album/all) playback functions of stored music on your iPod/iPhone. In addition, you'll be able to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track) from stored music and select music apps streamed to your Apple iPod/iPhone. You can also choose to control your Apple device from its own touchscreen, instead of the head unit.
    • Song/Artist Info: The KD-X350BTS will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information such as Track number, Elapsed playing time, Artist name, Song title, and Album title.
Note: See chart below for compatible Apple iPod, iPhone, & iPad models.

USB Charging: The head unit's USB connection provides 1.5A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone or Android smartphone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position (if your iPod/iPhone or Android smartphone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it).

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KD-X350BTS utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The JVC KD-X350BTS is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KD-X350BTS are as follows:

    • Full Bandwidth Power: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Maximum Output Power: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

Amp Gain: When you are using the KD-X350BTS with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 25 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 35.

4V/6CH Preamp Outputs + Sub Control: The KD-X350BTS is equipped with three pair of 4V preamp outputs (Front, Rear, & Sub). The Front & Rear preamp outputs offer fade control, while the Sub outputs are non-fading. The Sub preamp outputs also offer independent level control (-50 to +10).

Subwoofer Speaker Connection: You can connect a subwoofer to this head unit without the need of a separate power amplifier. Simply connect a single subwoofer (4-8 ohm) directly to head unit's left rear speaker leads (the right rear speaker output will be muted). The rated power output for the subwoofer speaker channel remains 22 watts. Same subwoofer controls apply, except the, subwoofer level adjustment is from -6 to+3.

Vehicle Setup: In order to optimize the sound quality in your vehicle, you can indentify the type of vehicle you have and the rear speaker location, as well as configure listening distances.

    • Car Type: Select your car type to automatically set the delay time of each speaker for timing adjustment of sound output of each channel to have the highest surround effect. Choose from Compact, Full Size Car, Wagon, Mini Van, SUV, or Off
    • Rear Speaker Location: You can indicate the location of your vehicle's Rear speakers. Choose from Door, Rear Deck, 2nd Row, or 3rd Row.
    • DTA (Digital Time Alignment): For a better sound-stage you can select your optimal listening position. You can choose from All, Front Left, Front Right or Front. You can also select to manually fine tune the sound stage, using Digital Time Alignment (DTA) by selecting the distance (0-20') for each individual speaker in the vehicle compared to your listening position.

Crossover Network: The JVC KD-X350BTS lets you choose between a 2-way or 3-way crossover network for your car audio application.

I believe it is dimmable. At the very least, you can change it to any color and the darker colors aren't as bright.

Is the display hard to see in the sun? I have a similar jvc model and I can't see anything on the display in the daytime because of the glare. I know it depends on the car and location. I just don't want to buy this one and have the same issue.

Yeah it can be pretty difficult to see the display when the sun is directly on it even with the display on full brightness, but otherwise it's not much of an issue that I've noticed. I also just use the Bluetooth connection on my phone so I don't really rely on the display.

I installed this unit in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler and have zero issues seeing the display on sunny days, even with the top off.
    jeremy  Jun 02, 2018
    A
It's not that I can't see it in the sun, i can see it just fine. But if a passenger has a white shirt on and it's a sunny day, the black screen and the glare of the white shirt don't mix very well. I have a feeling any stereo you get with a shiny black face will have a similar issue.

It depends on where your installer places the phone mike. Obviously wind noise will be a factor. I know you can adjust the sensitivity. It's a great radio overall.

I have a 1998 Toyota T-100 with a two part radio. Would I be able to install a shelf below the new radio to cover the place of the old CD reader? What are the best speakers that are relatively cheap that also put out good sound? Will this radio need a new sub woofer or will the current stock one in the truck be compatible?

If you do not have the factory storage pocket, we have an aftermarket pocket you can use to mount the single DIN stereo in the stock cavity and fill the space: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_003UPT900/item.html The factory sub and the amp that powers it (when equipped) will not be retained when an aftermarket stereo is installed. The color is completely customizable. In the color settings you can adjust the RGB (red, green, blue) levels independantly to replicate virtually any color. I used these settings to match the factory white/amber color of my other dash buttons and the receiver blends in perfectly with the stock trim in my Sierra.

Is this head unit compatible with a Sirius SIR-JVC1 receiver? I have a lifetime subscription and my old J Bus JVC radio isn't working.

It is not, no. The SXV300V1 is the compatible tuner package for this stereo: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_220SXV300/item.html SiriusXM should allow you to transfer your lifetime subscription over to a new tuner for a fee.
