About the Rockford Fosgate DSR1

Buck Pomerantz

Upgrade your system

Your car computer controls its audio system, so upgrading the sound has to include integrating with your car's digital network. Rockford Fosgate's DSR1 combines an integration module with a full-featured digital signal processor so you can add an aftermarket amplifier without losing any of your factory controls or audio notifications, and achieve the high-fidelity sound the system lacked.

A simpler way

In the past, in order to upgrade a factory system you'd have to first sum all the outputs, reduce the signal strength to line-level, remove the factory EQ and crossover settings, and then apply your custom audio processing and amplification. The DSR-1 simplifies this process by using the unprocessed line-level signals from the factory receiver, so you can tune the sound without fighting the factory settings. Your factory radio still works like it always has, and you retain all your vehicle's features.

Rockford Fosgate + iDatalink Maestro = good times

The DSR1 includes an iDatalink Maestro AR amplifier replacement module, which can use a vehicle-specific T-harness (sold separately) to supply a clean audio signal plus digital control data to the processor. Using a Windows PC, you go to iDatalink's website and download the firmware for your specific vehicle to your DSR1. It will then be able to translate your vehicle's digital instructions, like turning down the music and making only one speaker active during Bluetooth calls, for example.

Fine-tune your sound via your mobile device

The DSR1 uses Rockford Fosgate's latest digital signal processor technology to help you obtain and enjoy amazing sound quality from your vehicle's sound system. After connecting — via Bluetooth to an iOS or Android device — and loading the PerfectTune app, the main user interface screen displays your speaker configuration, an EQ graph, the EQ controls, and more.

8 channels handles almost any system

Each channel has its own crossover network, level adjustment, time alignment setting, polarity switch, and 31 bands of equalization, so there's no excuse for anything but perfect sound. The DSR1 offers eight output channels of processed signal for your amplifiers to send on to your tweeters, speakers, and subs.

Note: The DSR1 bypasses all factory amplification — compatible aftermarket amplifiers required.

Important Note: This Rockford Fosgate processor can either be used with an iDatalink harness in "Vehicle-specific" mode, or it can operate without needing a vehicle-specific harness in "Universal" mode, when upgrading a standard, non-premium factory or aftermarket system. See "Configuration Menu" under the Details tab for more information.

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate DSR1 is an interactive signal processor designed to allow you install an aftermarket amplifier and still keep the factory radio along with all its controls and features. Co-developed with ADS (Automotive Data Solutions), the DSR1 combines key features of Rockford's 3Sixty digital processor with a flashable iDatalink Maestro module, and is capable of being used out of the box with either high or low level outputs from a factory or aftermarket radio. It has 4 input channels, a coax digital input (S/PDIF), and a stereo RCA AUX input, all of which can be assigned to the 8 output channels. The DSR1 module can also be flashed with vehicle specific firmware for select Ford and Chrysler vehicles and, along with an optional T-harness (sold separately), allows an aftermarket amp to be installed while bypassing the factory amplifier. After initial flashing, Rockford's PerfectTune app, available for Android and iOS devices at the Apple App and Google Play Stores, will allow setup and configuration of the DSR1 to be done from a Bluetooth enabled smartphone or tablet.

Notes:
  • The DSR1 module must be updated to the latest firmware, regardless of the installation type. Flashing/updating can be done on a Windows or Macintosh computer using the iDatalink Maestro WebLink Updater, found here.
  • An aftermarket amplifier with sufficient channels to power all speakers will be required. No factory amplified outputs (OEM radio or amp) can be used to power speakers after installing the DSR1.

Configuration Menu: The initial module flashing is where the DSR1 will get configured for either Vehicle Specific or Universal modes.

  • Universal Mode: In Universal mode the processor does not compensate for any factory EQ curves, only in Vehicle Specific mode, and there's no input signal summing with the DSR1. Six pairs of RCA input plugs along with a coax digital (S/PDIF) are provided on the Input Harness.
    • Aftermarket Headunit: If installing the DSR1 with an aftermarket headunit, the RCA connectors will get attached directly to the radio's pre-outs.
    • Non-Amplified (T-Harness): For installations into factory non-amplified vehicles, T-harnesses are available for select model vehicles, making installation much faster and easier. Please check our Vehicle Guide to see what T-harnesses may be available for your vehicle.
    • Non-Amplified (Hardwire): If installing the DSR1 along with a factory radio without a vehicle specific harness, or an aftermarket radio with no pre-outs, speaker wire to RCA adapters such as the XD-CLRAIC2-SW or the KISL (both sold separately) will be required.
  • Vehicle Specific: In Vehicle Specific mode, using a T-harness, the processor will read the factory data signals allowing use of the factory radio's controls such as volume, balance, and fade. In either mode, the DSR1's 4 input channels (front/rear) are combined to provide the subwoofer output signal. After the initial flashing is complete, Rockford's PerfectTune app will then be used for the setup and configuration of the DSR1. The PerfectTune Home screen includes two main controls, Sub Level and Punch EQ (bass boost), as well as soft-keys for Setup, Tune, and Bluetooth connectivity. From this screen, the user can also pick either Main or Aux, which allows all of the tuning options to be applied to both the Main inputs as well as the Aux input, if being used. This gives a combined total of over 248 bands of channel EQ. The Basic Tune section includes a Master EQ with 7 bands of equalization that affect the entire output. The following options are available from the PerfectTune Home screen:
  • Preferences: The Preferences menu allows you to assign the two Home-screen "sliders" (Default is Sub Level and Punch EQ), as well as options for Auto Close and Crossover Plot Overlay with the choices being On or Off.
  • Device Setup: This screen allows you to quickly view the main settings after running the Setup Wizard. This will display the Device Mode (Stand-alone or Vehicle Specific), overall System Gain, PLC knob function if used, and the Input/Output configuration.
  • Setup Wizard: This menu is used for initial configuration of both the Main inputs as well as the Aux input.
    • Device Mode: This determines how the DSR1 will be used, either Stand alone or Maestro T-harness (Vehicle Specific).
    • Input Source: This setting determines the type of input signal: Low Level (RCA), High Level (Speaker), and S/PDIF (Digital).
    • Input Level Switch Position: After selecting either RCA or Speaker level, this option is a reminder to move the physical switch on the DSR1 to either High Level or Low Level.
    • Headunit Sensitivity: This sets the input sensitivity range based off of the headunit's pre-out voltage. Choices are from 0.5 Vrms to 4+ Vrms.
    • Input Channel Configuration: Determines what input types will be connected. Choices are: Fronts (2-ch), Fronts + Rears (4-ch), and Fronts + Sub (4-ch). A convenient pictogram shows which plugs on the DSR1 will be used.
    • PLC2: The DSR1 includes an RJ-45 jack for the optional PLC2 Remote Level Control. This is a rotary control that can be mounted under the dash for quick, on-the-fly adjustment of one of three options: Subwoofer Level, Punch Bass, or Master Level. This menu option determines if the PLC2 will be used and what function it will control.
  • Tune: This setting will give 2 options: Basic Tuning, and Advanced Tuning.
    • Basic Tuning: This is a 7 Band equalizer that affects the entire output of the DSR1 signal. The Bands can range from 63 Hz to 15.9 kHz with Q factor and Gain settings for each. The Gain can vary each Band's level from + 6 dB to - 17 dB.
    • Advance Tuning: This option allows more detailed settings to be edited for each of the 4 sets of output channels (Front, Spare, Rear, and Subwoofer).
      • Trim Level: Dual level controls allow volume offset for each of the 4 sets of outputs. Left and Right channels for each can be varied independently or can be linked together. Each speaker can be muted from this page as well.
      • Time Alignment: Each output channel can individually be delayed from 0 - 10 msec. Delay can be set in either milliseconds, inches, or centimeters and also include a phase-reversal option for each channel.
      • Crossover: All 4 pairs of outputs can be filtered if needed. Crossover options include:
        • Filter Type: All-pass, Band-pass, Low-pass, and High-pass
        • Filter Slope: This determines how steep the cutoff slope will be. Choices are: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, and 48 dB/octave slopes.
        • Frequency: This allows you to pick the frequency of the cutoff point. The Band-pass setting gives 2 frequency options; High-pass and Low-pass. A wide range of frequencies are provided and will vary depending on the Filter Type selected.
      • Equalizer: The Advanced Tuning EQ offers up to 31 bands of equalization for each of the 4 sets of outputs.
        • Band: Selects which frequency band will be adjusted. Range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
        • Q: Determines how many frequencies around the cutoff point will be affected by the boost or attenuation. Range is from 0.1 to 10.0.
        • Gain: This controls the amount of boost or attenuation at the Cutoff point. Range is from -24.0 dB to +6.0 dB divided into 0.5 dB increments.
  • Preset Management: The DSR1 allows you to save all of the settings as a Preset in one of 4 memory locations, which can be saved and retrieved via the PerfectTune app.
  • Bluetooth: Pairing of a Bluetooth enabled device for setup and configuration is done with this setting.

Module: All of the inputs and outputs of the DSR1 are as follows:

  • Input Side:
    • 18-pin input harness: Includes Front, Rear, and Aux In RCA connectors, S/PDIF coax digital input, and 18 AWG wires for power, ground, remote in and remote out.

Q
I have a gmc Acadia with a alpine headunit along with the rr module. I want to add aftermarket ampilfers will the dsr1 bypass the factorcty ampifer?
santos  Mar 25, 2024
1 answer
A
The Rockford Fosgate DSR-1 cannot be used with aftermarket radios, Santos. All DSP options that we offer will bypass the factory amplifier and will require aftermarket amplifiers for all channels. For a DSP unit designed to work with the RCA outputs of aftermarket radios, the JL Audio TwK 88 in the link below is an excellent call. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13698101/JL-Audio-TwK-88-System-Tuning-Processor.html

Q
Will this work in a 2021 4runner with the JBL system? My jbl factory amp blew and I would like to keep factory head unit, speakers and 8 inch factory sub but install a better aftermarket amp.
jacob  Feb 23, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Jacob. Thank you for your question. Yes this is compatible with your 4Runner. It will need a wire harness from Idatalink as well. Factory speakers are not designed to take a lot of power, so when choosing an amp, you don't want anything with a ton of power, or you will be replacing the speakers soon after.
hogan  Feb 23, 2024 (Staff)
Q
I have a 2020 Rebel with the basic non-nav 8.4 and 6 speaker sound system. On top of garbage sound quality, when using Apple CarPlay, I have random popping and skipping right after a song starts. Almost like a skipping cd. Thereâ??s almost no info on this condition, or any available fixes. Iâ??ve tried three different phones, replaced the ANC unit and head unit under warranty, and installed an ANC cancellation harness. Still does that. Would a digital processor like this possibly fix this problem?
shannon  Jan 24, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Shannon. Thank you for your question. Chrysler vehicles starting in 2015 have radios that need to see a resistance load. By removing the speakers from the radio causes problems with the radio, like when you add amplifiers but keep the factory radio in. If you are not using load generating devices, that could be your problem. You cant just cut radio wires and run them to amps any more. Not with Chrysler vehicles anyway. The DSR1 technically does not work on vehicles that have ANC though. There is a chance if you have that already defeated it may work. There are other amplifier integration options for your Rebel other than the DSR1. Contact one of our advisors at 800-324-9695 to discuss your options.

Q
Is the dsr1 output harness available as a replacement, my has been damaged?
lee s  Jan 16, 2024
1 answer
A
We do not offer the 16-pin output harness for the Rockford Fosgate DSR-1 available separately for purchase, Lee. It is possible just that harness may be able to be sourced from contacting Rockford Fosgate directly. I hope this helps!
bo  Jan 16, 2024 (Staff)
Q
I am using two aftermarket 4 channel amplifiers and an aftermarket head unit. How would I go about connecting the rca outputs to the amplifiers?
tanner  Dec 26, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Tanner. Thank you for your question. If you already purchased the DRS1, contact tech support for wiring assistance. If this is something you have not purchased yet, call one of our advisors at 800-324-9695 with a list of gear including model numbers of your amps.
hogan  Dec 27, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Will this work with Rockford punch 600.4?
richard  Jul 30, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Richy, and thank you for your question. This DSR1 works with any aftermarket amplifier that uses RCA inputs. Of course you would need a vehicle specific T harness as well.
hogan  Jul 31, 2023 (Staff)
Q
I have a 2015 Tundra and want to upgrade speakers with an amp. There is not a T Harness for my Toyota, do I need it for the DSR1 to work? What is the benefit to the T Harness?
chris  Jun 15, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Chris, and thank you for your question. The benefit is no cutting or very little of the factory radio wiring with a T harness.
hogan  Jun 16, 2023 (Staff)
Q
How do I tune and time the DSR1 if my front door speakers and dash speakers are wired in series and will be on the same channel? Does the maestro t harness correct that? Do I set the dsr1 to full range? Am I overthinking it? This has to be pretty common. I have a 2014 Silverado, non Bose, with 8" screen.
kyle  Apr 28, 2023
1 answer
A
I would be happy to help, K. W. If you are using the same amplifier channel to drive your front door and dash speakers (or using components with tweeters in the dash) you will either want to use full-range or apply a slight high-pass crossover. Timing of course is going to have to be the same on that channel as the dash and door speakers are connected. To go full active you would need to use the DSR-1 with an independent amp channel (and wiring directly to the dash speakers from those extra channels) for each driver in the vehicle. I hope this helps! DSR-1 is always a great choice if you are keeping your OEM radio!

Q
Did Rockford and or Maestro stop providing firmware updates for this set up? I want to make sure I don't purchase a product that is obsolete. Thank you!
jerry  Apr 15, 2023
1 answer
A
Firmware is still being developed or this system. It does take some time for firmware for newer vehicles to be produced, so it is possible that a newer vehicle may not yet be supported. Our advisors can help you review compatibility via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.
zachary  Apr 16, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Can I leave the factory speakers and wiring alone? All I want to do is add a subwoofer to 2018 Chevy Silverado non Bose and not ready to do the entire system. Wanting to know if it disables all speakers connected to factory head unit.
matthew  Dec 08, 2022
1 answer
A
That is a fantastic question, Matthew. The Rockford Fosgate DSR1 will disable all speaker output from your factory radio, it's not a good choice here if you are not adding a 4-channel amp for the full range speakers. The PAC LPA-E.4 LocPro advanced 4-channel line out converter in the first link below paired with the PAC LPHGM51 matching harness is a good call for you here. This allows you to easily add the LOC now just for subwoofers and add the amp later on for full range. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_541LPAE4/PAC-LPA-E-4-LocPro-Advanced.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_541LPHGM51/PAC-LPHGM51-LocPro-Advanced-T-Harness.html

Q
Does the dsr1 have built in Bluetooth?
zundele  Nov 16, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Zundele, and thank you for your question. Bluetooth is built in strictly for running the Perfect Tune app for set up and configuration.
hogan  Nov 16, 2022 (Staff)
Q
I have a 2016 Ford Fusion hybrid, I replaced factory head unit and afterwards sound was super distorted. Supposedly this is due to the factory amp. My options were to either use factory radio, or run wire individually to every speaker. Would this product be able to replace the factory amp and send correct signals to rca?
mikey  Sep 21, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Mikey, and thank you for your question. The Rockford DSR1 is to bypass a factory amplifier when still keeping the factory radio in. If you are going back factory, this will work with another T harness from Idatalink, part 794DSPFO2. If you want to use the aftermarket stereo you purchased with your factory amplifier, there are other wire interfaces that will allow you to do that, just call and speaker to one of our advisors at 800-324-9695.
hogan  Sep 21, 2022 (Staff)
Q
I have a Lexus 2015 Rx450h, and this is the only amp recommended, I wonder if I am missing any others. It is a hybrid vehicle, and I got this alert. What is the current draw of this amp? If you own the hybrid version of this vehicle, we don't recommend installing an audio system that exceeds a total 30-amp current draw.
umber  Sep 09, 2022
1 answer
A
This is not an amplifier. This is a digital signal processor that would be used with a vehicle specific T-harness to allow for the installation of an aftermarket amplifier. Please give our advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695 for detailed help with your project.
zachary  Sep 09, 2022 (Staff)
Q
I have a 2019 lexus is 300. It says that it will fit my car. I don't have the upgraded system. But I do have the factory navigation. How come I cannot use it?
matthew  Jun 14, 2022
1 answer
A
This Rockford Fosgate DSR-1 will not be able to connect to the IS300 with the Navigation radio, sadly. You will need to go with a universal option to add amps like this Audiocontrol LC7i I've linked below, or the JL Audio Fix 86 also below. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_161LC7IB/AudioControl-LC7i-Black.html?tp=70736 https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13698103/JL-Audio-FiX-86.html?tp=70736

Q
Can you split the signal coming from 2 outputs on a dsr1 to input into amp?
starbusa  Apr 04, 2022
5 answers
A
Why do you want to do that? The DSR1 is programmable, so why not use 1 output and program it to do what you want it to do.
william  Apr 07, 2022
A
Yes. I actually have it done for my rears (rear L & R RCA's split to do rear 6x9 and 3.5") on a 4ch amp
john  Apr 07, 2022
A
Yes
darnell  Apr 06, 2022
A
I'm sure you can. Although what you set your crossover at , that will be your signal to all your inputs on your amp. What are you trying to Accomplish?
david  Apr 06, 2022
A
I think you need to be more specific with your question. The DSR1 is an inline DSP and low-level converter. It is paired with a t-harness specific to your vehicle. The t-harness is in-line, which grabs all audio signals and converts those signals to be available on traditional RCA jacks.
ryan  Apr 06, 2022
Q
After installing aftermarket amp with maestro DSR1. Will I be running new line to the speakers?
erick  Mar 28, 2022
4 answers
A
You would have to run speaker wires from what ever amp you use to what ever speakers it powers. Hope that helps this is to retain factory functions but can also be used for the function of the rockford dsp that's on board. To be honest this thing does everything. I encourage you to YouTube the DSR1 alot of good information but works with any situation
jody  Mar 29, 2022
A
The DSR1 has a connector to take the amplifier outputs and route them to each speaker through existing wiring. If you do not want to use that connector then yes you will have to run new cables to all speaker locations
steven  Mar 29, 2022
A
You don't need to. Factory wiring can handle around 125w rms.
john  Mar 28, 2022
A
Depends on your installation -- with an aftermarket amp, the speakers connect to the amp, not the DSR1. You would run low-level output from the HU to the low-level input on the DSR1. You then connect output to input on your aftermarket amp.
harry  Mar 28, 2022
Q
What would be the advantage of running this with a T harness without an aftermarket amp? Isn't the purpose of this so you can run an aftermarket amp?
tammy  Jul 31, 2021
2 answers
A
Yes that's the purpose of this for installing an after market amp. It converts the signal from the radio to the amount without having to slice into the wires.
melody  Aug 02, 2021
A
This is for adding an aftermarket amp. Not needed if not adding an amp.
john  Aug 02, 2021
Q
Could this be used to run front 3 way active speakers by taking 1 set of full range front LR signal and splitting it into 3 sets of preouts with crossovers set digitally?
jacob  May 28, 2021
1 answer
A
This sure can be used as an active crossover to run a front 3-way component speaker setup where each driver has its own channel on an amp. It allows you to set a high-pass filter for the tweeter, band-pass filter for the midrange, and low-pass filter for the woofer. We have advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can discuss all your goals and give you a personal recommendation on a complete setup that will work

It depends if your truck has a digital signal going to your factory amp or not. If it has a digital signal than more than likely you would need a digital sound processor. But you will need to do more research on that. But this will definitely help the sound a lot either way.

I don't understand why you would install this w/o an amp? What are you looking to do?
jeffrey l  Jan 04, 2021
A
Technically, yes, (I THINK) you could install without adding an amp(s) BUT...you would have to wire back into the factory amp... NOT easy since your amp is under the shift lever in the center console so for one.... this defeats one of the most significant benefits of the DSR1 (adding amps) and so then the only benefit would be for you to use the DSP which would also be quite cumbersome to make it work. Summary? Dont do it like that. :-)

For a 2016 Silverado non-bose 8 inch does the dsr1 use high level or low level with the available t harness dsp-hrn-gm3? I can't find pics or other specific info about the harness and I know the dsr1 takes both high and low level.

I installed the DSR1 on my 14 Silverado. 5 inch screen. I used the high level outputs front and rear from the factory amp. So clean and superb clean sound

Mike, The "T" harness ties into your factory vehicle Can bus network and will supply all the audio and database signals to the DSR1 unit. No other input wiring is required. This will allow for your fader/balance controls and tones/chimes to still work. The DSR1 then has output wiring for your speakers and/or amps in the form of both high and low level outputs. Hope that helped. The DSR1 is an awesome piece of equipment and allows for a lot of tuning.

CAN THIS CONTROL FRONT SEPERATES , REAR SEPERATES, PAIR OF 10" MIDS AND PAIR OF 12" SUBS?
michael  Jul 01, 2020
3 answers
A
The DSR1 has a total of 8 outputs, typically you could run Front L-R Full Range (mid w/tweeter crossover), Front L-R Mid Range, Rear L-R Full Range (ie. Coaxial or Mid Range w/tweeter crossover), and lastly (2) L-R Subs. If your seperates are bi-ampable you could split your 2-ways with a 4 channel amp. Pretty extensive setup to tune though. The DSR can be manipulated to do many things but definitely take a look at the downloadable User Manual to view a typical setup diagram then use you imagination. Just remember you ONLY have 8 outputs. Good luck.

Absolutely! Takes some skill and knowledge of stereo equipment as well as wiring to properly install effectively. But once connected, you'll love it! No. Stick with the DSR1. I had some problems with this unit to begin with but when they provided a firmware update all worked well. Be sure to go the their website and down load the latest firmware for the unit and also the program for you Jeep Renegade. Also the factory radio gave me some problems with noise. I had to turn the bass and treble down on the radio and increase the gains on the DSR1 to compensate. It all worked fairly well in the end. Also make sure the get the proper wiring harness for you Jeep Renegade.

The DSR-1 is a good fit for that Jeep but the RCA outputs are intended to interface with an aftermarket amp. It would be difficult to use it with the factory HK amp since it doesn't use RCA inputs. I have a 2016 Ford Explorer Sport and based upon my research, it looks like it doesn't have an amp (only the Platinum model does). Will this amp work with my Sony audio in my Sport? I also plan to change the speakers in all 4 doors.

It sounds like you are saying that your 2016 Explorer has the factory Sony sound system in it. If that is correct, then this Rockford Fosgate DSR1 digital signal processor can work with the stock radio once you get the vehicle specific wiring interface for it. Here it is: www.crutchfield.com/p_794HARFO2/item.html This setup allows you to add any amp with RCA audio inputs to the system. I have a 18 ram 1500 with the 8.4 inch touchscreen. I was considering going with a audiocontrol D-6.1200. I talked to an installer and they recommend the DSR-1. What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of each?
justin121881  Jun 21, 2018

A
I have a 2013 Ford edge sport and I was originally going to use an LC7I also by audio control. both my installers to Best Buy and Crutchfield salesman recommend using the Rockford Fosgate DSR-1. I am running a kicker CompRT Radiant 12 along With a five channel pioneer 9605 amp. Some of the advantages I know what it was that I was able to replace the factory amplifier in and use the DSR one to keep all of my features such as navigation steering wheel controls and Bluetooth capabilities. In addition with Van Ness is that you're able to tune your audio system with the DSR-1's Cell phone app. Some of the disadvantages that I have noted was that initially I did not have any issues with the system until I try to use my vehicles factory navigational System and I was unable to hear any voice commands. This is been a common occurrence and each time that I have taken it back to the installer which is four times , The installers have re-flashed with the DSR-1 and the issue keeps occurring. I've also had issues concerning the deer DS or one not turning off when the vehicle is off and this is killed my vehicles battery on four separate occasions. The last time that I had the DSR-1 flashed I did not download the app for the Bluetooth connectivity although this seem to work best in my system I now have lost the ability to actively control the sub, so I had the DSR-1 re-flashed, but I did not download the app for the Bluetooth connectivity although this seem to work best in my system I now have lost the ability to actively control the sub, so I will have to Install the base knob that came with my pioneer amplifier. One good thing is that when I spoke with a Crutchfield sales reps they will be replacing the DSR-1 free of charge, possibly because it is a defective item. I don't know if any other people have these similar issues but for me this piece of equipment has been a huge pain and I wish I could have used the LC7I,
rodrica d  Jun 27, 2018

Not sure how it will work with you set up. I am using the DSR1 in my motorcycle. But I can say if you are some what knowledgeable with audio and how to tune you set up. The DSR_1 is very user friendly and you can break down your whole by each speaker. there are a few helpful links out there but not many. American hard bag has some good info.
kerri  Jun 22, 2018
A
Advantages I would say the size and install. You can put it anywhere. Disadvantage would be the chimes and sounds from your dash or door being open and startup change. Not in a bad way just different. And may only come from the from driver speaker. The DSR1 has lots of toning with the app via Bluetooth is really cool. Seeing the changes you make in real time is great plus toning by ear is easier with the visuals
jonathan  Jun 22, 2018

The DsR1 is super customizable. Extemely easy as well. I would definitely recommend that over the audiocontrol. However, i would actually get the alpine pxe-0850s over both of them. It just came out. But it will be the new king.

I bought the Dsr1 and I have some questions before install it. My 5 channel amp just have 1 rca input for subwoofer and the Dsr1 has 2 sub outputs. I dont know if I just connect one of them to the amp or use a Y cable to connect both outputs to the amp. Other question: the Dsr1 will be installed after a fuse block, what number of fuse should I use to protect it? Thanks.
marcelo  May 02, 2018
4 answers
A
Use a y connector and you will be fine, the fuse should be rated for the same value as the amp, the DSR1 has no direct power supply
brian  May 14, 2018
A
I would use the Y cable. I'm not sure if it sends a mono sub out or if thats a option. For the fuse I'm not sure I have a metro wiring harness on my set up.
jonathan  May 14, 2018
A
Most sub amps are mono so I suppose 1 will do. Also I used a 5 amp on my dsr1 All of the power leads have a separate fuse on mine I know its overkill but I wanted to make sure i protected my investment. Also the app is pretty good I haven't had any issues so far and I have had it almost 10 months.. Good luck with your install
daniel  May 14, 2018
A
First you only need to connect one of the rcas to the amp. Just set the sub output to mono, and leave the other disconnected. Second you can use a 10 or 15 amp fuse.

Tyler, I have had the DSR 1 installed for about 3 weeks in my 2013 Ford Edge Sport along with. Pioneer 9605 amp and 1 (12) inch Kicker radiant subwoofer and 4 Infinity6x8s and it is amazing. I was skeptical at first but after playing with the app and tuning my system, I would highly recommend using this device. The software is very straight forward and you can use the tutorials on the app if you need clarification on any questions you may have. I don't know if the people having issues did self installs, but I purchased this item on the recommendation of my Best Buy tech, who also did my install. I would highly recommend using this device.
