About the Morel 38 Limited Edition
Enduring quality
Enduring quality
Morel was founded in 1975 with a singular mission to build speakers that can recreate the depth and detail of a live performance from a recording. And oh, how they've succeeded. Even in spite of the limitations that the automotive environment poses, Morel's car speakers soar. Every bit of that excellence is due to their passion for sound and their insistence that every Morel speaker be made by hand and tested to meet their premium standards.
Hexatech™ technology enables Morel to build mammoth voice coils for high power handling.
In celebration of the Morel sound
The 38th Anniversary Limited Edition 6-1/2" component system is the culmination of Morel's audio expertise. A carbon fibre woofer cone delivers the lows with assurance while a separate silk dome tweeter handles the higher frequencies. The woofer handles up to 140 watts RMS, thanks to a superbly engineered motor structure built around a 3" voice coil. The tweeter sports a machined aluminum face plate for a cool, powerful look, and Morel coats the silk dome with their one-of-a-kind Acuflex™ compound which enhances damping for more accurate highs.
High-quality crossover network
The innovation doesn't stop there — technologies like the woofer's Uniflow Air Chassis and EVC voice coil design keep efficiency high and heat build-up low for optimal performance play after play. And Morel built the high-quality crossover with select handmade components to ensure that you hear an incredibly lifelike reproduction of the performance in your vehicle.

Woofer Size Classification Note: Some manufacturers, including Morel, call this size woofer a 6-1/2". Because it requires a larger cutout than a standard 6-1/2" speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size woofer as a 6-3/4". Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.
Enclosure: If the woofer is mounted in an enclosure, Morel recommends a 0.14 ft³ sealed enclosure (0.11 ft³ to 0.35 ft³ is acceptable) or a 0.35 ft³ ported enclosure tuned to 65 Hz.
Tweeter Mounting: The tweeter is designed to be flush mounted; it is built on a flush mount frame. The dome is very delicate, so the mesh grille should always be used.
Tweeter Dimensions:
Flush Mount | |
---|---|
Mounting Height | 0.440" |
Mounting Depth | 0.545" |
Cutout Diameter | 1.715" |
Frame Diameter | 2.462" |
Crossover: The outboard crossovers' inputs and outputs are set screw terminals; they will accept bare wire up to 10-gauge. The woofers' low pass crossover is 12 dB/octave at 2 kHz. The tweeters' high pass crossover is 12 dB/octave at 3 kHz. A jumper inside each crossover allows you to adjust the tweeter output level; choose -2 dB, 0 dB, or +2 dB. Each crossover has bi-amp inputs, one input for the tweeter and one for the woofer. When bi-amping the speakers, the input jumper wires need to be removed. Using four amplifier channels to bi-amp speaker typically improves the dynamic range and presents an easier load for the amp(s) to drive.
Crossover Dimensions:
- Width: 6.885"
- Height: 1.875"
- Depth: 5.195"
