Features

Crutchfield Speaker Wire w/ Banana Plug Connectors: The Crutchfield speaker wire w/ banana plug connectors provide an easy & secure connection between your loudspeakers and receiver or amplifier. The speaker wire utilizes OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) that has been tinned and a flexible nylon black/silver jacket. The positive and negative speaker wire leads are independent from one another and are held together by multiple plastic sheaths that can be removed. The speaker wire is terminated by banana plug connectors on each end via set-screw (not soldered). Each banana plug connector features a gold-plated single-banana jack which easily plugs into the binding-post or spring-post terminals of your loudspeakers, receiver, or amplifier. The barrel of each connector is "Red" or "Black", so you can easily identify positive & negative.

  • Banana Connector Diameter: 0.215"
  • Barrel Diameter: 0.425"
  • Wire Diameter: 0.165" (per positive/negative wire lead)
  • Overall Length: Available in 6, 10, 15, and 20' lengths

Notes:

  • This package includes a single speaker cable to connect a single loudspeaker (not a pair). You will need to purchase two of these speaker cables to connect a pair of speakers.
  • To ensure long-term performance, the oxygen-free copper wire has been tinned for enhanced corrosion resistance.

Q
Can I shorten speaker wire with banana plug?
kristin  Dec 29, 2023
1 answer
A
You have a few options here, Kristin. We offer a 6-foot version of the Crutchfield premium speaker wire in the link below. If you need a custom length in between 6 and 10-feet, you can create your own custom lengths by using the Crutchfield 14-gauge speaker wire by-the-foot in the second link below and adding your own banana plugs in the third link. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CBB6/Crutchfield-Speaker-Wire-6-feet.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CSW14/Crutchfield-Speaker-Wire-14-gauge.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007B10PK/Crutchfield-Banana-Connectors-10-pk.html

Q
If i have 15' of 14 gauge speaker wires to two speakers, does speaker wire from same receiver to a subwoofer have to be the same length or can it be shorter (say 6')?
joanm  Nov 30, 2022
1 answer
A
The length going to the subwoofer would not matter in this case. However, depending on the type of subwoofer and receiver, it may be an RCA cable instead of a speaker cable. For detailed help with this project, please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Will these work with the Denon S-960H Receiver and Klipsch Reference R-620F?
arnold  Jan 18, 2021
5 answers
A
Yes, it will work. If you are a fan of klipsch sound. They sound much different than other speakers.....They are "bright"' speakers. Very clear crisp sound. I used this same type of connection for the convenience of the plug and play connection.
johnny  Jan 18, 2021
A
It will have enough power (sound) for about a 16 foot square stage. But I find myself wanting more sound. Yes it'll work. Speaker wires are a bit over kill.
son  Jan 18, 2021
A
Hi, yes it will.. I have Monitor Audio Bronze 6 towers connected to Yamaha A-S1100 integrated amp to them with these wires.
ivan  Jan 18, 2021
A
Yes that Crutchfield speaker wire should work perfect with both that Denon Receiver and Klipsch Speaker Combo. I have been enjoying the same speakers hooked up with similar wire and an older S930H Denon receiver for 2+ years now.
daniel  Jan 18, 2021
A
I don't see why not

Q
Are the terminations soldered on? Or do they just use a screw type fastener?
jared  Apr 29, 2020
2 answers
A
Mine are screw type.
gerhardus  May 07, 2022
A
I think the simple answer is NO they are not soldered. At least I can't tell for sure. The red and black Crutchfield cylinders ends are screwed on covering the banana plugs. If you screw these off so you can see the banana plug the cable case (black and silver) is pushed all the way up in there so I can't see if they are actually soldered. However on the sides of the banana plugs under these cylinders where the cable is pushed up inside there is a screw on each side. I assume these screws are how the actual wire(s) are attached to the plug. Being someone that wants to solder all my connections, I do like these. They have worked well. About the only complaint I have is minor. It is that the banana plugs sometimes are tight and hard to push into the speaker(s). Other than that I like these and have had good luck with them in my home AV system.

What is the country of manufacture? I don't want to support China due to the CCP lack of transparency amid COVID-19.

They look like rebranded monoprice cables with different plugs. They are very good quality but probably made in china.
andrew  Aug 31, 2021
A
Not sure. I threw away the packaging after I opened it and never looked, though I try to buy American whenever possible. I also looked on the product and nothing is reflected on the cables themselves. However, it's a good product for the price.

How many strand wire is in each conductor?

Don't know
john  Jun 15, 2018

I have no idea. I bought four of them so I could bi-amp my Definitive Techology STL towers and my Denon H6400X AVR. They do a good job. GoodHeavy cable for my stereo listening....,,,,,
gary  Jun 15, 2018
A
Not sure as my speaker wire has banana plugs. Strands vary from 71 to 295 in 14 ga wire. This would probably be a question for a Crutchfield specialist. I can tell you that this wire and the banana plugs are very good.

Q
can these speaker wires be use for outdoor speakers?
efrem  Jun 02, 2020
2 answers
A
Yes, but don't leave them exposed for moisture/foot traffic etc.
wesley  Jun 02, 2020
A
These speaker cables are very well built, with a jacket shielding the actual wires. I believe they could work for outdoor speakers. I would be more worried about the terminals on the speakers themselves than the cables.
donald  Jun 02, 2020
Q
outdoor?
bob77375  Apr 09, 2022

I wouldn't if exposed to the element's. You may just want to use standard roll of speaker wire and use bare wire to hook up instead of banana plugs
donnie eugen  Apr 09, 2022
A
I don't know I got mine hook up to my Home theater speaker
harold  Apr 09, 2022
A
I only have them on my inside stereo speakers. My outdoor speakers on my deck are run with plain copper speaker wire.

Q
I would like to know if this cables can go inside a wall??
abel  Jan 16, 2022
3 answers
A
I don't believed that they are inside wall certified, I've have used them for my front Dolby Atmos high speakers inside wall and I haven't had any problems with them, excellent wires. Hope this helps you.
maximo  Jan 17, 2022
A
Well as a fellow consumer I'd have to say these cables have a sturdy outer casing that would stand up to being run thru a wall well so I'd feel confident using them in that way
eric edward  Jan 16, 2022
A
Not sure. I used a 'Romex' (multi wire electric cable) style speaker wire for my inside wall install and made my own connections. No worries of cutting shield jacket on speaker wire. Good luck...
robb  Jan 16, 2022
Q
I'm worried about the braided outer sheath. I purchased a cable with a braided outer insulation, and it felt like glass. The cable tore up all my furniture like a giant rat-tail file, as I pulled it to my speakers. I had to return them. Is it smooth, not coarse?
peter  Mar 26, 2019
3 answers
A
I have not experienced any problems.
roger  Apr 02, 2019
A
Yes it is smooth. No worries
kalvin  Apr 01, 2019
A
I did not experience any negative effects of running this speaker cable. I find it ribbed but not coarse. Feed it around furniture slowly and carefully and you shouldn't have any problems. These cables produce sound as good as speaker cable costing a lot more.
laurence  Apr 01, 2019
Q
can this speaker wire be ordered in longer lengths?
carlos  Mar 18, 2018

A
20ft is the longest available in the Crutchfield brand wire with the pre-attached banana connectors.

Q
I've been using 4mm banana plug sizes. What size are these? Thanks
steve  Dec 07, 2023
1 answer
A
At their widest, the banana plugs are 5.461mm. These fit any standard banana plug opening, such as those found on 5-way binding post on speakers, amplifiers, and receivers.

Q
Hello there, My question is : Is there any deterioration in sound quality in one of the speakers (both Spica TC-50-s) if I connect one with a 6 feet long and the other one with a 15 Ft long 14 AWG speaker wire? If yes, will the difference be obvious? Are the banana connections of your wires will work with the Spica speakers and a Rotel RX950Ax receiver? Thank you for your assistance. Gabor Meray
gabor  Dec 27, 2022
1 answer
A
That is a great question, Gabor. I cannot confirm for certain, but it does look like many models of the vintage Spica TC-50's have a banana connection port on the rear. Banana plugs are confirmed go on the rear of the Rotel RX950Ax, a highly favored unit for sure! For best imaging use the 15-footer in the link below for both connections, even the short one. The symmetrical cable lengths will assure the sound reaches the speakers as the exact same time. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CBB15/Crutchfield-Speaker-Wire-15-feet.html

I am currently using a bare wire connection at both the amp and the speakers. I believe it is 12 gauge wire. Is a banana plug a better connection?

yes
william  Nov 10, 2020
A
A banana plug allows for more contact area than bare wire and also ensures that the speaker wires do not accidentally pull out or short against the other wire.

You will need two cables to connect two speakers. Each cable has a positive and negative for one speaker.

Q
Can these connectors be replaced with pin connectors?
than  Aug 12, 2018
3 answers
A
The banana plugs are removable with a small flat head screwdriver. about an inch or so of wire is exposed underneath of the plugs.
john franklin  Aug 13, 2018
A
That would depend on the posts or receptors on the back of your speakers and the speaker contacts on the back of your amplifier/receiver. I selected these with banana plugs because the posts on my speakers were designed to accept banana plugs as well as the speaker contacts on the back of my amplifier. I prefer banana plugs or wire with no pins or plugs because I feel that makes a better contact. Not all speakers and amplifiers will take banana plugs. Pins or exposed wire will work in many cases.
eric  Aug 12, 2018
A
I sure hope so both sides need smaller pins , HELP !
