Easy to connect. I got an assist from the Crutchfield staff to include a set of these wires. Critical to include in the package since I can't 'run down to Radio Shack' anymore and I can't count on others to have what I need when I need it. The wires are high quality and ready to go -- no muss, no fuss, no prep to connect, just 'plug and play'.

This product is a must in my view, braided type covering over speaker wire you will have to have anyway if you're connecting speakers to your reciever. The covering keeps the dust off better than non covered wire and protects the wire from snags when moving things like furniture in your music room or living room. The banana plugs,clips, are kinda classy, and very easy to push in and out. I like the option of being able to remove the clips if necessary, for what ever reason. The red, black end Jack covers thread on and off, and then a screw holds the Jack on which is easy to remove if need be incase you just want bare wire the old school way, I think it's a great idea.

Not the best design!

These are well built cables but be sure to understand they are really two cables per speaker with small plastic sleeves holding them together. This makes them difficult to thread through any tight openings as the strands get caught. Why Crutchfield built them this way is a mystery. They should be a single cable per speaker like everyone else's. Also the connector shell over the plug comes loose very easily so be sure to tighten them after installation.

Very nicely designed speaker wire. The banana plug ends can be easily undone and replaced/reused in case of wire breakage or some other unfortunate problem and the cable is cloth covered for that elegant very flexible look and feel. Not disappointed. Would buy again if needed.

Converted skeptic

I was always skeptical of folks who said speaker wire could make a difference in the sound. However, I just upgraded my amp and speakers, and I found the sound to be overly bright and harsh...out of desperation, I tried replacing my old speaker wire (some pretty old and cheap 16 gauge wire)...lo and behold, I was proven wrong: the sound improved markedly, and now I am a happy camper!!

Well, I wanted to like these speaker wires but, I decided to return them. Why? These are actually 'separate' wires, not pairs that at split apart at the ends. So they don't hang as one line, but two from the back of the speaker unless you put some sort of wrap on them. The plug tips were not screwed on and I had to tighten them myself. And the connectors/plugs are screwed on, not soldered. This just seemed like too much stuff for $40 worth of cables. Upside? Customer Service was rad. They helped me out with the return in short order. And next time I will read the description more closely...

Not made of copper

ordered two sets of this wire. However, last night when I cut the wires into shorter pieces to re-arrange my two speaker sets (recently bought from Crutchfield, which are excellent), I found that the wires are apparently not made of copper, not to say oxygen-free copper as described (see pic). These wires are completely useless to me. Crutchfield should give me full refund for selling a wrong product.

Wow wow wow! I am back in the game! These banana cables are amazing. I never even knew of them and they are so easy to use. No more fussing with the stupid ratted cable and getting pinched or cut by them. Easy to use. I wasn't sure about the fabric like sheath, but it's fine and man you can't beat the price. Perfection! I don't believe cables really matter for sound. At least not to 99% of systems anyway. Okay, that's out of the way. These are well made and look very nice. I don't even feel like I have to hide them. The banana plugs are great. No more stripping cheap speaker wire. An easy 5 stars.

I really wanted to like these speaker wires. They're a good value compared to other wire. However, both set of wires became detached from the banana clip. I had to move my set up and repair both sets. I have bought more of these wires and found that some of the set screws were loose. If you buy these I recommend checking the set screw and make sure you have a strong connection before hooking up your gear.

When I got my B&W tower speakers in 2006, I assumed I needed the best speaker cable. I spent hundreds on top brand. Years later, when I upgraded by AV receiver to a premium brand, a friend pointed out that my cables were overkill. All most users need is 14-gauge wire with banana plugs. These are those cables. They are thin so your equipment can more easily slide into shelves or racks. But they are good looking enough to show off if you put your turntable or amplifier on top of a table or console. Either way, these are the best choice I've seen anywhere. The only cables that come close to this design are by Elac, but cost far more.

I bought 3 of these to go with my new speakers, as I wanted something that looked nice since it's fairly visible. The banana plugs fit snuggly into the jacks, and the fabric jacket looks good. They do what they're supposed to! One bit of advice - check the connectors. They're clamped down to the wire ends with a pair of set screws, which are covered by the colored cylinder. Several were fairly loose, so I had to tighten them a bit with a small screwdriver.

These are very nice cables at a really reasonable price point. These do, and did, exactly what I needed them to do, and having the banana plugs already on the ends just made them that much better for me. If your equipment can accept banana plugs then I suggest you give them a try. Just wish I had invented them!! Nothing negative at all concerning these cables.

They are speaker cables. I'm not running 20k worth of McIntosh gear so I have no want/need for $200 cables. They connect well and seem fairly ruggedly constructed. As far as the folks saying "the aluminum ends weren't tight so I'm rating these a '3' ", well, uhhhhh, OK

Cable terminals have too sloppy threading. The shroud I hold for and want to plug in speakers or in receiver gets so easily loose and the same time prevents to make a twist in to male plug in either components. ...yes that is frustrating.

What a tangled mess...otherwise all good

The wires themselves are fine. I plugged them in and the sound was perfect. The cable seem well made and look good as well. My issue with the wires is two fold. First while I tried to open the bag and unroll the wire it was a tangled mess and such a chore to get undone. Second the wires are both fixed to each other. Again this makes it very difficult to keep the wires straight and untangled. If it were not for these two issues I would give five stars. The price I also feel is very fair when compared to other wires of same quality. Wires can be cut apart I guess but I would prefer to have a different way of keeping the wires together.

They look nice and they are easier to connect than raw wire. But the shells on the plugs all arrived unscrewed, and the banana plugs themselves did not give a very confident connection, and I did not notice any improvement in audio quality.

Pretty much perfect for what I needed. The banana plugs are easy to install/remove from my speakers and AV receiver and I find the braided cable housing to have much more visual appeal than plain speaker wire. I suppose the banana plugs could also be removed from the wires if your sound system has different terminals or if you feel like shortening the cables yourself (but I haven't tried this so your milage may vary).
