PC speakers
Chris from PHOENIX, AZ on 7/18/2023
Never been a fan of Bose , think they are overrated. However these speakers seemed idea as where on sale, to replace my aging Yamaha PC ones. Sound reasonable, once you make adjustments in Windows11 , by adding more bass and if required changing the balance.
Pros: Reasonable sound, once you make adjustments.Buy on sale
Cons: No light to remind you they are on. Output could be stronger

Seriously ?
Chad from BISMARCK, ND on 4/7/2023
Decided to give them some time before sharing. Holy smokes. These do not have the sound of speakers at this price. They have the sound of $30.00 speakers! They really do sound like the cheap plastic Gateway 2000 PC speakers from the 90's. Decided to use bonus dollars to purchase otherwise I would return these.
Pros: They look good
Cons: They sound like garbage

Got me nostalgic for the sixties.
Wayne from Rochester, NY on 3/22/2023
Well they're Bose so the quality is there. However the sound that comes out of them definitely leaves something to be desired, namely extended bass. So because of that, the sound is something more like the sound that comes out of the transistor radios I used to walk around with and listen to when I was a kid. Just not the deep, rich sound that I'm used to hearing from Bose equipment.
Pros: Small and compact.
Cons: It might take a week or two to get the memory of these high toned abortions out of my mind.

Remarkably good small speaker.
Steven from Moorestown, NJ on 6/19/2022
These sound remarkably good for small speakers. And they are just really good overall. When playing classical music, these capture the timbres of the different sections and keep an excellent balance among them. The instruments all sound as they should. I believe that much bigger speakers would project more depth and power, but these do very well. And they sound really good--the sound is pleasing to hear. As the title says, they are quite remarkable. They set up easily and worked nicely.
Pros: Really nice sound faithful to the sounds of the instruments. Easy to set up.

The sound from these speakers is sharp but if you don't use a equalizer to fine tune the sound, they might sound average. I used iTunes to play some music and it was perfect. Log on to acuradio and the sound was just okay because I cannot control the sound. So be careful about how you listen to your music. These are very nice speakers and produce excellent sound.

I had to replace a previous model of bose speakers for computer, so I selected these. They are the easiest to hook up with only a plug and the speaker wire to connect. The sound is good, although not as clear sounding as the previous model. The up front controls make it easy to quickly turn down as needed. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Pros: Easy to set up, hook up, and control.
Cons: sound is a little more fuzzy than the previous model, but still good. These may also attract more dust due to the fabric cover.

I was in need of new speakers but didn't want nothing to bulky. This checked off all the marks because i already had two subs in my room and didn't want an extra one so i was searching for speakers that would still pack a punch. These fit the bill. Fast to set up and you can still get some bass out of them and clear audio, of course it can't replace a sub but for the price and size i am completely satisfied.
Pros: Size Amount of bass Sleek look Crystal clear sound
Cons: None that i can think of other than an auto on and off feature.

Review of Bose Companion 2 Series III Multimedia Speaker.
John from New Orleans, LA on 6/5/2021
These speaker have much more volume than the original speakers which came with the computer. For obvious reasons, I'll not name the computer brand. This is definitely a big up-grade. The Bose Companion were reasonably priced; have a smoothly operating potentiometer for volume control; and they occupy less space than many of their competitors. My only problem is what to do with the old speakers. They still work slightly, and I hate to throw things out.

Clear direct sound, surprisingly powerful considering the price point here-- I use an an Apple desktop device (I -MAC) and were very easy to set up, even without looking at the instruction guide. Do not see any reason to invest in anything greater unless you are doing professional sound editing These have been around for a while, so I wonder if their will be a new model coming in a week/ month?? That's typical Highly recommend
Pros: Easy set up Price Sound pretty good
Cons: Not suitable for professional sound editing Very bad design/color match for Apple products---not white at all---ALL BLACK

Great General Computer Speakers
Kyle from Okemos, MI on 9/20/2020
I purchased these for my office and am very pleased with them. There is not any humming or whinning noise even with several devices connected at the same time. I use a Auxilary splitter to connect my phone, work computer and a Chromebook all at the same time. I've had them for about 6 months and play them at all volumes. The sound does not distort. I recently started playing with the computers equalizer and have found these to sound even better. For an office, there is plenty of bass, especially when playing with the equalizer. I know there are plenty of Bose hatters out there and I own other brands, but it's amazing at how clear and full Bose can sound given their small size.
Pros: Sound, price, ease of setup, clarity. No need for a subwoofer.
Cons: Removable grills would be nice. Power converter built inside of the unit would have been more convenient than the bulky wall plug.

Good Value for the price
Crutchfield customer from San Francisco, CA on 8/31/2020
Easy to set up and good sound and fairly punchy bass response for a compact speaker. Unit is compact and stylish when space is a consideration. Only two minor drawbacks with the Bose Companion III . 1) In order to get loud needed to increase audio volume output on laptop leading to a small amount of distortion. Best quality sound with laptop audio output set to 80% volume output. 2) Bose Companion III does not have an LED light on the unit to alert you when it is turned on. Otherwise a good value at a reasonable price point. The next step up is around $200.00 more.
Pros: Unit is compact and stylish when space is a consideration. Easy to set up and good sound and fairly punchy bass response for a compact speaker.
Cons: No LED on and off light on unit. Needs a little boost on amplification when playing at higher volume due to slight distortion when laptop volume set above 80%.

Long story short, I went to Crutchfield and found these speakers on sale and felt as though it would be a great price for the brand name BOSE, so I made the purchase. Great sound, crystal clear, and the sound coming from the speakers is spectacular! I'm so happy I made the purchase and remain loyal to Crutchfield for so many reasons. Big sound, small package
Trevor from San Jose, CA on 3/13/2019
My wife wanted better computer speakers for her classroom. They had to be easy to use, easy to connect and as small as possible due to limited space. I thought about small bookshelf speakers with a small amp or powered speakers but they would have all been bigger and had more complex connections/controls. She is really happy with these; they often use the speakers to play things the entire class needs to hear and these do a great job of filling the room. One little student even commented "Those sound like real speakers". I'm sure they wouldn't replace a full stereo system for blasting you out of a room but for small computer speakers at a reasonable price they are excellent.
Pros: good sound, good quality, good price.

Night and day compared to what I used to have AND without a dedicated subwoofer. Sound is so crisp and encompasses the den where my desktop computer is. I use these for music as well as gaming. No highs, no lows, must be bose
Jason from Pittsburgh , PA on 8/8/2018
I had the companion 2, series II speakers that rendered sound so much better and louder than these. Compared to their predecessor, I am very unimpressed. These speakers don't really render the highs or lows the same. With that said, for the price of a set of small desk speakers without a subwoofer, they aren't terrible. I wish I would have shopped around more instead of assuming they would (and should) be better than their predecessor.
Pros: Small in size - won't clutter up your desk.

Good computer speakers
John from Bailey, MS on 8/6/2018
I purchased these to replace a 3 piece Boston Acoutics system for my desktop computer. The goal was to eliminate the more complex system with wires everywhere, particularly the subwoofer. The Bose speakers are unobtrusive and provide adequate sound for my personal needs. They're easy to set up. Good value for the money, but they don't compare with true audiophile speakers at far higher prices.
Pros: Easy setup Good but not great sound
Cons: Not much bass

Amazing Desktop Sound!
Cary from Merrick, NY on 7/8/2018
I have these Bose speakers connected to a Sound Blaster audio card in my desktop PC. The sound is spacious, clear, detailed, and impactful! The bass is clean, defined, and while it won't shake the pictures off your walls, is deeper than I had expected. I'm very satisfied with these speakers and would recommend them as an excellent value. They are compact, look great, and perform as expected from Bose!
Pros: Crisp, clear, spacious, detailed, full-range sound.

Brought these mainly for my Laptop for watching Youtube Videos. The overall quality of the Speakers are Average, but for Music these things really come Alive! For Music alone I would give them a 5 Star Rating I find myself having to turn the Volume down. Probably will look into the Logitech V-533 Speaker System with Subwoofer, My son has these and they really sound good for Videos and Music. Thanks to Crutchfield's 60 day return because that might be an Option.
Pros: For music and Music Video's these sound GREAT!!!

Simply fantastic
Jeffrey from Woodland Hills, CA on 2/2/2018
Fantastic. These produce huge sound, that is accurate, not overly bright or bassy, they play things as they are, though I use them for movies more than music. It's amazing, considering the smallest speakers offered and at sub-100, you're not going to get anything better. I do like that you can plug them in via headphone/3.5 port, with macbooks and even windows laptops pretty much switching over to usb-c and thunderbolt three, many usb 2.0 and 3 don't work and even with hubs or adapters, a lot of older software and hardware simply doesn't work because they only work with a direct usb connection to a computer etc. unless mac takes out's it's headphone port(which is unlikely) these will work on any computer which isn't true of many speakers now as the technology changes.
Pros: Small Big sound/soundstage and excellent seperation of instruments Accurate sound as well(but not clinical or flat sounding) Uses a headphone connection instead of USB(insures compability as USB 2.0 and 3.0 is going the way of the walkman)
Cons: None.

Ken from Emmaus, PA on 11/16/2016
I was looking for something to upgrade my 14 year old Harmon Kardon speakers that came with my first computer. After reading the rave reviews for these Bose Companion speakers I ordered them. The day after they arrived I hooked them up and was immediately disappointed. My computer has enough jacks to have them hooked up without unhooking the old Harmon Kardon so I repeatedly switched back and forth while listening to the same sound source. It didn't matter what the source was, the old Harmon Kardon's sounded noticeably better. I give Crutchfield 5 stars for the fast delivery now we'll see what they get for accepting returns.
Pros: They look good.
Cons: They sound half as good as they look.

Great price, pounding bass
Parviz from South Salem, NY on 10/2/2016
I purchase this pair as a low cost speakers for my office computer. I have Bose speakers for my home computer (a higher cost one) as well as a portable Bluetooth speaker which I like very much. I listen mainly to classic music and NewAge. I was deeply disappointed. The bass was just too much and even at a soft level, would rattle the speaker pronounceable. I played around with the equalizer, to no luck. And i have a few thousands of classical tracks and did not/cannot tune each one individually. So I decided to return the speaker and should decide on a higher price one. This speaker might be good if you listen mainly to Pop and "beat" music or play games, but not classical. I was very disappointed.
Pros: Cost, brand name
Cons: Too much bass and too little trebble

Bose PC Speakers
Larry C from Pittsburgh, PA on 7/27/2016
I needed speakers to improve the sound of my Toshiba laptop. I decided to spend the money and get Bose, my first Bose purchase. The sound is very balanced and full for such a small footprint speaker. Bass is somewhat weak but entirely acceptable. Only negatives are no light for speakers when they are off or on and short cord for connection between pc and speakers. I bought a ten foot cord to correct this. These speakers fill up a small room with full vibrant sound and are worthy of the Bose name. I have no complaints about these speakers. Most people will be entirely satisfied with them.
Pros: Smooth balanced sound and a tremendous improvement over small pc speakers.
Cons: No on off light and short cord between pc and speakers. These are very minor complaints.

Been looking for good set of computer speakers for a long time. I have always wanted a "nice" set but just couldn't bring myself to spend $250 on speakers again. Also my table doesn't allow me to have big speakers. I bought these to replace a set of Klipsch I bought online at a different retailer a year ago. The Klipsch where fine just old and abused. These Bose are a step above and beyond. Reset my EQ on my computer and I have the nice tight bass and all around good sound I've been wanting. They get louder than anything I've had in a long time. Perfect for my bedroom. Good little punchy speakers. Sure the money I spent is a bit of cash but wow these sound so good. Thinking of trying these on my TV to just see how it sounds. Just to clarify my computer is currently my home system. I listen to all my music off my computer.
Pros: small footprint, well built feel. Big presence

Unusual Application
RFox from Michiana on 12/13/2015
I purchased the Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers to fortify my Sony Bravia flat screen in my bedroom. I had been using a set of PC speakers, but my home is about a mile from an AM radio station and I was hearing the station coming through the old speakers. The Bose speakers arrived without drama and on time. I got them hooked up and thought I would need to send them back. The frequency response of these speakers is definitely nowhere near flat, with a huge peak in the lower midrange producing a boominess that makes me wish for some tone controls to address this. The high end is somewhat subdued and not as bright as the previous speakers I was using. I'm sticking with these for now, but I am looking for a reasonable self-amplified satellite / subwoofer speaker system to replace the Bose.
Pros: Compact size, two audio inputs, good volume levels, low noise floor, solid connections, no distracting power LED.
Cons: Booming lower midrange, high-end roll off, no tone controls

Nice little speakers
dubsteppin from South Carolina on 10/8/2015
I bought a set of these speakers after reading numerous positive reviews about them. After having them for a while I think I made a wise decision. Im not a Bose fanboy by any means, but these speakers sound pretty good for such a small footprint. The sound is warm and clear, and the midbass is pretty stout also. I have these setup in a small corner cubicle and I think this helps add to the overall sound and performance I am getting from the speakers. They are far from the best sounding speakers I have heard, but for the price point, I think they are the best deal out there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone!
Pros: Warm, clear sound, small footprint
Cons: No tone controls

Feel the music like never before!!
Manan from New York on 10/8/2015
There are not enough words to describe how incredible these speakers sound. There is so much depth to the music, you can hear all the instruments with such clarity and it brings the music alive. I have owned the Logitech Z2300, but the quality of music from the Bose far surpasses that of Logitech's. The vocals are crisp, with fine separation of highs and mids and adequate presence of lows. I don't want to repeats what hundreds of reviews on this product have already said, but I couldn't have asked for more from Bose in this price range.
Pros: - impressive sound stage - low price (considering its from Bose)
Cons: - often forget to turn the speaker off since there is no light indicator

Bose Quality as always
Robert from Texas on 9/28/2015
I bought these speakers for use with a laptop. I had some small laptop speakers but they lacked the necessary base. The Bose speakers, although they are small, feature that pleasant bass that my ears love. But these speakers don't match the quality of larger Bose speakers. The size and sound of the small Bose speakers you will like with a laptop. Easy to carry on a trip and not much packing room needed.
Pros: The small footprint of the speakers which have excellent sound. I also use the aux in for my small Grace Internet Radio.
Cons: None that I know.

Very pleased with the sound quality. Based upon some reviews, I was not expecting as much bass reproduction as I'm hearing from these, which is better than that produced by the older Companion 2 Series I that I'm using on another laptop. Either the Series III is that much improved in sound quality or the sound card settings are that much better on the laptop the Series III are connected to. Maybe a bit of both, but I'm glad I purchased these from Crutchfield.
Pros: Almost everything.
Cons: Almost none, except that I wish Bose would design a similar priced speaker system that connects and is powered via USB.

Pros: A compact set of speakers with great overall sound and an excellent bass. Love them.

Awesome Sound from Small Footprint!
BrianS from Illinois on 12/18/2014
If you are looking for a small set of speakers with big sound, and want to avoid buying a system that depends on a subwoofer the size of a small refrigerator, you will really like these speakers. I wanted to avoid a 2+1 system or a two-speaker system with bookshelf sized speakers without compromising on sound quality. These do the job. The speakers are about 3"x6"x8" each and put out enough volume to satisfy any listener within 10-15 feet without taking up all your desk space. Excellent bass and treble, balanced, and detailed sound of even the smallest of background sounds in a movie track. The on/off switch is built into the volume control. There is no power-on light, but I don't believe these speakers draw much, if any power without a line-in signal since they use the newer styled power adapter that doesn't draw phantom power. My only gripe is that the length of the line in cord between the speakers and PC is too short. It should be at least 6'. A really nice system at a great price.
Pros: Lots of Bass. Detailed and balanced sound. Good volume. Small Footprint.
Cons: Line in cord is too short.

Maggyb1 from Tampa, FL on 12/16/2014
I have been looking for some way to make music from my laptop louder and better quality. I didn't have a clue what I needed, but I got a little email saying "by the way, these speakers are on sale this week". I was totally confident that a Crutchfield/Bose combination would have to be great. I really depend on these guys to understand my needs and give me good advice. They have always been so friendly and helpful when I have called to ask questions or need suggestions. Trust is rare these days and these guys have earned mine. I knew that the speakers would be a great deal for the price. I wouldn't even know enough to appreciate the added features of something more expensive. I played an Anthony & The Johnson's song straight off of the internet; first without the speakers and then with them. He was as as amazed at the difference as I was. I didn't know what I was missing.
Pros: Excellent price (and on sale) for the quality of the speakers. I love the particular sound of Bose (I have the headphones) so the bass is perfect for me. Easy hook up and store easily when not connected. I find myself listening to a lot more music while I am doing other things since I get great quality sound with the flexibility of not being tied to headphones. This is an outstanding product and perfect for me. Getting the email saving me money was just the kicker!
Cons: I didn't know about them sooner.

Best sounding hundred dollar speakers I've ever owned, on sale. I'm 64, I've owned a few, great overall quality. Next price level for the audio quality is 3-4 hundred dollars, after that 6-8 hundred dollars. Perfect for listening to I-tunes through my lap-top. Thanx Also, I thought free second day delivery was a mistake. I live on Maui, speakers were shipped from Illinois, arrived second day UPS, couldn't believe it. No charge
Pros: Great price, great sound, compact, free shipping
Cons: None

Great Sound
Eric G from Arkansas on 11/23/2014
Great pair or computer speakers! Best I've owned and I've run through a few pair that just didn't meet my needs. These speakers are crisp and sound much larger than they are. Another great product from Bose.
Pros: Sound Quality Fills the room Size
Cons: Price

Definite + for Computer Speakers
Bill from Washington on 11/10/2014
Definitely Sound Fills the Room. I upgraded my speakers with a subwoofer to the Bose Companion III. Setup was quick & easy, computer recognized the device immediately. The lack of treble and bass knobs requires some getting use to but the sound generated is fantastic. I would highly recommend this speaker system as an upgrade to the standard speakers provided with the computer.
Pros: Compact and space saving. Superior sound quality. Economically priced.
Cons: Lacks treble and bass control knobs

Great product
ArronS from Colorado on 10/28/2014
I originally purchased the II of this model and was having some bad luck. Multiple sites and nothing but poor outcomes. I decided to go with the III that were $10 from a company that knows how to treat customers. The product arrived very quickly unlike S*!sC&%b. The product was immaculate, they sound and work perfect! I am very pleased with the product and Crutchfield, of course, handled the order perfectly. Not sure why I tried to find a better deal and found nothing but frustration. I paid $10 more and got a newer model. I am happy with the product and experience shopping with Crutchfield!
Pros: Install is very simple. The sound is great from 2 speakers that do not need a separate sub. The sound is very clear and with the true room, it sounds great any where in the room. Or my office which is where they are currently set up. The series II had the silver metal front, I very much like the look of the III and feel that they look better on my desk than the series II would have. I am very pleased with the sound from speakers of this size, what you would expect from Bose.
Cons: I was not looking for this option, but they are not wireless. If this is what you are looking for, you will need to look at another model. No other Cons thus far.

Bose Companion 2, Series III review
rbperreten from Bonners Ferry, ID on 10/2/2014
Great sound in a small package! These things have a definite "base" without an additional sub-woofer. Fir their cost, as well as their small size, the sound out put of these speakers is amazing. Like most things Bose, they are extremely durable and well made, out of quality materials. Now,don't get me wrong, these are no substitute for a full size system, but it's too inconvenient to lug a full size set of speakers around for a laptop computer, and the sound out put of these, especially for the cost, is absolutely amazing.
Pros: Durable construction, of quality materials. Sall, compact size, good sound quality and response.
Cons: No remote, no substitute for full size speakers, and some may not liker the perceived enhanced base response.

Teenager Approved...
Nysaab900 from Waterville,NY on 9/28/2014
Well, after doing his due diligence, the 13 year old boy who lives in our house & eats all the food decided to get new computer speakers. They met with his expectations and he's a teenager; he knows everything.
Pros: Inexpensive, terrific sound quality, great purchase.
Cons: If you have a teenager in the room above you listening to music all the time - do not buy these speakers for them. They will be banging their feet & sound like migratory elk landing on your ceiling.

Bose® Companion® 2
Barry from Nevada on 9/6/2014
They work well if you like a great deal of base. I have to reduce the TV base setting to 10% to make these tolerable.
Pros: they look good
Cons: expensive and to much base

Bose Companion 2 Computer Speakers
RodD from Nashville, TN on 6/14/2014
The delivery was fast and free. The instructions for set up were stupid easy. The hook up cables were thick and substantial. The sound is crisp, clear and full of that rich Bose base. Upon initially listening to them, I really regret not getting the higher end model.
Pros: decent bang for the buck easy set up nice crisp sound thick cables rich Bose base for size
Cons: short footage of connecting cables price

Guest from chicago on 5/12/2014
Not impressed. sound is muffled, no on-off indicator light so you can't see if they are on easily. no separate tone control. Look elsewhere for computer speakers. Maybe worth checking out if they are on sale but overall not impressed with these speakers.
Pros: nice and clean looking.
Cons: muffled sound, not impressed at all. no separate tone control.

Great Sound from Quality Small Speakers
JoeA from Clemmons, NC on 4/7/2014
The Bose Company makes consistent quality products and these small speakers give me the great sound that I was seeking. I could not believe how much clarity and bass they provide with music or just listening to a speech. I highly recommend this Bose product for your computer or other sound needs and at a great price too. I have been investing in Bose products since 1977. They still deliver what you pay for....
Pros: Great size to fit my space needs but super sound quality to enjoy in my everyday listening needs. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Cons: None

Well Done
NrthrnGrl from Denver, CO on 3/18/2014
I don't have a lot of money to spend, but at the same time I'm very picky about how my music sounds. I test every piece of music equipment I get against Queen's "March of the Black Queen" and these had me clapping my hands together in joy and shouting "yeah!!!" right off the bat. These speakers were definitely the right item at the right price. They replaced a set of travel speakers which were tinny (to say the least) so I was aware that nearly anything would sound better, but I couldn't believe I could get Bose at this price and I'm glad I sprung for them. The sound seems a bit bass-heavy to me but not enough to make me give a bad review. And I could have been influenced by the nearly complete lack of bass on the preceding speakers. All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I know others have complained about the length of the wiring, but it works fine for me. I like that I can crank these all the way up without experiencing any serious sound issues.

Great Speakers
Old Gnome from Riverview, FL on 3/3/2014
I am hard of hearing, but I love to listen to music when I am working in my home office. I was seeking speakers where I could push the volume and use a quite detailed and personalized equalizer in iTunes to give my ears a coherent sound. These speakers absolutely fit the bill. I can hear the music clearly and when I push them to provide a larger sound, they respond quite well. I am very pleased with these speakers and especially think they are well worth the reasonable price I paid.

Bose Companion 2 series 3 multimedia speakers
Michael James from Pinellas. Park ,FL. on 3/1/2014
I connected these speakers to a 40 inch flat screen TV to improve sound from behind my living room couch as a surround sound type effect and they added a nice clear sound . A really great way to inexpensively fill your living room with sound to make hearing any kind of TV program better .
Pros: Simple to hook up and after initial setting up volume I have not had to readjust the volume control settings on the speakers and control all sound through the TV volume .
Cons: I did have to run a wire from the back of the TV to the speakers but I think it gives a cleaner sound than wireless type speakers that I have tried before and don't get any static from other electrical devices like a ceiling fan motor.
