Excellent sound in mid and large sizes rooms, good bass and clear highs. I bought this to replace some Soundtouch units. Very happy with the performance, design and the app is easier than the sound touch app.

No access ti Apple Music Service

Speakers sounds great, although not having direct access to my entire music library from Apple Music is a very large pain. Now I have to use a separate device to stream my music from vs. a paid music service. Bose really needs to update their firmware to offer this feature for their customers.

I continue to have problems with it. It plays one song or a commercial and stops, I have to give it commands constantly, pain in the butt, for this kind of money I would expect much better. Any advice?

Better Alternative to Sonos

I bought this Bose Home Speaker 500 as a cheaper alternative to a Sonos Play5 and honestly think I came out ahead due to the Bose's features. We have our record player hooked up to the aux port on the Bose and have setup our Spotify and SiriusXM accounts on the Bose. Using the 6 presets, we can automatically start playing our favorite SiriusXM stations or Spotify playlists without needing a phone or device to AirPlay to it. And the sound has great range and can get loud, filling our home with music. After a few weeks it's already a staple in our home as we play music during dinner or in the kitchen. I can't recommend it enough!

The sound is great! You can even hear the fingering on the bass with some music. Have it in upstairs hallway and able to hear throughout the house. No distortion when loud. Very happy

I purchased three and spread them throughout my house. The product looks good and it is very simple to set up. Placing it within range of the wireless router or extenders was not a problem. Linking the speakers was easy to do as well. There are gremlins in the speaker network, but Crutchfield customer support got me through them. Cautionary note: the system does not cooperate with other wireless Bose products.

This is the best speaker of this type I have ever owned, the sound is phenomenal! The time display is kind of nice too but not totally necessary but you won't go wrong, this blows other Bluetooth/WiFi speakers out of the water.

Not For Everyone, even in United States Territories, GUAM and CNMI, where Alexa and Google is fully accessible using their OEM speakers. But with this Model (maybe with the rest) -Bose latest SW and" Smart Speaker" integration is Not Available, it Defeats the purpose of being a premium Bose "Smart Speaker", Until they hire a programers and personnels who is knowledgeable on our Great Diverse U.S. Regions and Territories -who don't discriminate activating their features and properly update to allow Alexa and Google integration on exact regions -Stay Away with this model and other Bose models, might as well get the Amazon Studio or Google Max.

Great sound/challenging Alexa setup

I purchased the Bose Home Speaker 500 to replace a very old Bose Sound Dock that I was using with an old iPod touch. I selected the Silver unit, and it is beautiful. A very pleasing esthetic design. The sound is wonderful and more importantly is in stereo. It hits the right balance for me - not too bass heavy and just the right level of brightness in the treble. The setup of the unit is fairly easy using the Bose Music app. A word of caution - you must have a smartphone and the Bose Music app to setup the unit. There is no way to setup the unit without a smartphone. Also, the initial setup did not complete successfully resulting in bluetooth and wi-fi connection problems. A complete reset of the unit to factory settings and a 2nd pass at the setup completed properly. The area I had the most difficulty with was the linking of my Amazon account for Alexa access with the Bose app account. The Bose app would not display the correct screen and would not link accounts. After 2 hours on the phone with Bose support and a transfer to a Supervisor, I gave up - only to find the solution on my own. I did finally get it to work, but it should not have been as difficult as it was. I ended up having to take the URL displayed in the Bose app and load it manually into a Chrome browser for the linking page to display correctly. Now that everything is working properly, I'm very happy with the unit. I deducted 1 star for the problems with Bose app and the setup process.

Limited Amazon Alexa Capabilities

I'm a huge fan of Bose and this speaker sounds great but has extremely limited Amazon Alexa capabilities. I contact Bose about Alexa's "drop in" feature and was given a huge list of things this speaker won't do including drop in. None of the new Bose Alexa speakers and soundbars support this feature. Will be returning.
