SoundTouch Wireless Link: The Bose SoundTouch Wireless Link transforms your existing home audio system into a wireless music system. The SoundTouch Wireless Link gives you access to wireless music through your existing speakers - such as a stereo system, home theater system or powered speakers. It uses your home's Wi-Fi network or your Bluetooth source devices for access to select online music services and saved music libraries. The Wireless Link easily expands & syncs with other SoundTouch speakers to stream music throughout your home. Best of all, its easily controlled from the palm of your hand using the SoundTouch app for Apple iOS, Android, Windows, or Mac.

SoundTouch Wireless Audio: The SoundTouch Wireless Link is part of the Bose SoundTouch wireless music ecosystem which allows you to play music throughout your home. The SoundTouch ecosystem is able to stream music wirelessly throughout your house over your home's WiFi network; it even works with your Bluetooth devices. With SoundTouch, you can stream Internet radio, select music services, and your music library throughout your home. A free Bose app transforms your Apple iOS or Android mobile device into the system's remote control.

Multiroom Audio: For most home networks, you can link up to four SoundTouch music systems together for a multi-room/multi-source audio experience. For more than four rooms, Bose recommends using Ethernet wired connections to some of the SoundTouch systems. You are able to play the same music source or different music source on each SoundTouch system, using the SoundTouch app on your Apple iOS/Android device or Windows/Mac computer. Compatible sources include -

  • Internet radio & online music services
  • Bluetooth & computer audio
  • Aux input

Built-in WiFi: The Bose SoundTouch Wireless Link offers built-in WiFi (802.11 b/g/n; 2.4/5.0GHz) to wirelessly connect to your home network. The SoundTouch Wireless Link's WiFi network connection can be setup initially from the SoundTouch Controller App on your Apple iOS (7.0+) device or Android (4.1+) smartphone/tablet.

Once initial setup is complete, you can use this app to explore Internet radio, select online music services, or browse your music library from your home network and computer for playback through the Bose SoundTouch Wireless Link.

  • For Apple iOS or Android: You can download the free SoundTouch Controller app (from Apple's App Store or Google Play Store) onto your Apple iOS (iOS 7.0+) or Android (4.1+) device so you can setup and control the Bose SoundTouch Wireless Link from your mobile device.

Will this allow me to stream Apple Music music through my receiver via wi-fi as opposed to bluetooth? I have an older Bose Bluetooth but I lose connectivity after a few feet. With wi-fi I would have a stronger connection.

This device cannot stream Apple Music over WiFi. We have devices that can and I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to get a personal recommendation on a streamer that meets all your needs

Yes, they updated it so you can play music through airplay which uses your WiFi. I just did a quick test and turned Bluetooth off and I was able to play through the Bose receiver. Hope this helps.

Q
Can I hook this up to my 20 year old Yamaha receiver to work with all my other Bose wireless speakers also?
richard  Jul 14, 2020

A
Yes this device will connect to your Yamaha (use an aux input). This device will play your SoundTouch media thru your Yamaha system. Your Yamaha will display on the SoundTouch app like any other SoundTouch devise. This devise will not work with the output of your Yamaha. Hope this helps.
richard  Jul 15, 2020
A
That's basically what I did. I have an old Denon system that works perfectly fine and I just plugged this into some RCA jacks (I picked "CD/SACD Player"). I did have some trouble getting this set up via the Bose app but that is unrelated to your question.
james  Jul 14, 2020
A
It works with my 20+ year old receiver. Have it plugged in to the unused Laser Disk input. With the Sound Touch app on an iPad can play through only the Link Adapter or set up to "Play All" to play through other selected Bose Sound Touch devices.
james  Jul 14, 2020
A
I was asked to reply to your question, but sure, cannot for sure. I think so, but you'd best check with Bose direct. It with great with my 40 year old Staten and wired speakers, but I haven't tried a wireless speaker system. But I think most all Bose is set up for wireless. Just not sure if dual (wired and wireless) mode. Sorry I can't help more.

Q
Will this make Bose Wave IV Radio bluetooth compliant?
marlene  Dec 10, 2019

A
I'm sorry but I do not know the answer to your question. I don't have a Bose stereo system, I purchased this as Bose should be top quality components and I wanted Blue Tooth capability for my non Bose stereo system. It was hard to get it to work properly and compared to a much lower priced Bluetooth device I purchased for my garage stereo system it does not sync up easily either.

Yes!

This device plugs in to your existing unit. Thru the sour touch app you can blue to it or use wifi I have it hooked to my living room sound bar(non bose) and I can connect blue tooth it using the bose app.

Q
Will this work with the Bose Home speaker 500?
fred  Oct 27, 2018
1 answer
A
You don't connect this to a speaker you connect it to whatever is powering the speaker. In my case I connected this Soundlink to my Onkyo 8050 receiver. I connected it to the "game" input in the back of receiver (as suggested). Then you use your phone to connect it to your house Wi-Fi. The Bose 500 is already wi-fi ready so you don't need this soundlink adapter would be my educated guess. This adapter is to make non wi-fi gear wi-fi ready.

Q
Is connection to this device from my phone or tablet only through Bluetooth? or can I stream music from my device wirelessly through my wifi???
kfabel  Aug 24, 2018

A
Works on WiFi just like other SoundTouch devices. It's purpose is to adapt non SoundTouch equipment to work with SoundTouch.
robert  Aug 30, 2018
A
I'm not sure about that I got it because I have a lot of music on my iPhone and I have a bose system but it's an old system so I need something to transfer my music to the system so I wouldn't have to buy a new system. Doing that could be pricey. So I got this device and with Bluetooth it was the best and cheapest move I ever made . I listen to all my songs through this and Bluetooth. I know Bose might not like but too bad make your system a little bit more affordable and will buy it , but until then I'm happy ...
lyle  Aug 30, 2018
A
I stream Spotify on my device and the music streams directly from the WiFi. Your mobile phone/device just controls what streams thru the WiFi. WiFi music streaming is higher resolution than Bluetooth so the music quality is much better quality.

Does this work with Sonos speakers?

I'm afraid this Bose SoundTouch Wireless Link adapter is designed only to work with other Bose SoundTouch wireless speakers and components; it would not offer compatibility with Sonos speakers. Hi. I believe so. The Sound Touch can be connected via rca, optic, and Bluetooth. If it does work, you'll love it. The Bose app allows for seamless streaming of SiriusXM, prime music and many others. I'm a huge fan.

Q
Wireless range says "30 feet" - from what? Is this just referring to the Bluetooth range? My Wifi is further than 30 feet for streaming through my router, but I have plenty of signal. I do not plan to use Bluetooth. Will this work standalone, Wifi only (unlike Sonos Connect).
steve  May 12, 2017
2 answers
A
Wifi connection depends on your system. I constantly use mine with phone in my pocket, and walk around the house without streaming interruption. If not connected to Wifi signal, w/ BT, you get about 30-40 ft of clear music. This is mostly use when someone else wants to connect to your system without giving up your Wifi password. Hope this helps.
gustavo  May 12, 2017
A
Definetly will work! I bougth 2 of them and have them over 40 ft placed working no problem! even from different floors! Bose is the best!
