I consider myself electronically challenged, but installing this amplifier was a piece of cake. I am using two Sonos connects and two Sonos ports to distribute sound to six pairs of speakers. I also used the bus system in two of my zones. The quality of sound is great!

Multizone Amp
Crutchfield customer from Franklin, WI on 6/14/2021
We were looking for something that could control 5-6 zones. Crutchfield reps recommended this unit and it works amazingly. The best part about it is that when you buy from crutchfield they guarantee their products and help you with the questions when setting them up. Im very happy with the product and recommend it to anyone that is looking for setting up different zones in their hose house.

Just works
Crutchfield customer from Yarrow Point, WA on 2/1/2021
Easy setup with my 5 Sonos Connects as source and ceiling speakers in 5 different rooms of the house as outputs. Basically just plug everything in, turn up the gain knobs for each source, turn it on and everything works. One caveat - I tried the "auto" mode that automatically turns on the amp when a source turns on, but found that the Sonos Connects need to be at pretty high volume to trigger the amp to turn on and stay on, so instead went with just leaving it on all the time. I've read that power draw for this type of amp is very low in standby and that it might actually be better for life of the amp regardless, so keeping it on seems like the right way to go.

Awesome Audiosource AD 512
J from Austin, TX on 10/8/2018
Crutchfield staff recommended this amp (x2) to drive a pre wired whole house audio system(22 speakers). The assisted with a few set-up questions. Amp is powerful and drives Revel ceiling speakers with awesome sound. Paired with Sonos connect units (×6) for zoned streaming and listening. Overall great purchase and customer service.
Pros: Power, configuration of zones and BUS options. Sounds great and reasonably priced.
Cons: Rack mounting, unit is very heavy

Total Lack of Operating Instructions
Joseph from Novato, CA on 5/13/2018
I bought an AudioSource AD5012 to channel music from our family room AVR to existing Russound controlled ceiling speakers in 3 other rooms. This $999.99 unit comes with just a 4 page manual that explains almost nothing. I plugged the AVR into the new amp's "Sub 1" inputs with output to the existing 4 x 18 ga wiring to the house's 3 zones. The AD5012's 7 blue lights (master; 6 zones) all turned on, indicating no shorts. No sound came from the speakers. I went back & forth from amp to Russound controls, trying to understand the problem. The AD5012 user manual is useless, & the AudioSource website offers no tech support. I called Crutchfield. Their tech told me I needed to turn the "channel gain controls" on the AD5012 to max, to allow the Russound controls in the rooms to operate properly. I turned up the AD5012's gain controls on, & the ceiling speakers in the other rooms worked great. I thanked the Crutchfield tech for explaining what the manufacturer didn't describe. Everything fixed...until... The next day, 1 of the zones had high static & the AD5012's "Zone 1" blue light blinked red. I called Crutchfield. The tech told me to switch zone 1 & zone 2 wiring, to learn whether the short was the AD5012 or the Russound. I did this & powered up. The master switch on the AD5012 turned red. More calls to Crutchfield. The AD5012 went back to Crutchfield. A replacement AD5012 is on its way. Lots of hours spent so far. Crutchfield was great help.
Pros: Yet to find out if AD5012 works. Crutchfield tech support has been great.
Cons: Four page manual completely lacks instruction. AudioSource website doesn't provide tech support.

A great value for a solid amplifier.
Robb from Hopkins, MN on 4/23/2018
I purchased the AD5012 to power 4 in ceiling speakers in my kitchen and 2 patio speakers. I really liked the bridging option available on this amp. The unit is very versatile with 2 bus inputs and line inputs for each of the 12 channels. The remote allows the option of controlling the volume on each of the 2 bus inputs. I bought a Sonos connect to control the volume and input selection for the kitchen speakers and plan to do the same for the patio speakers to allow for more control over each of these zones. So far I am quite impressed. The unit has plenty of power and sounds good. It also seems to run pretty cool.
Pros: good control versatile good value
Cons: pretty heavy all controls are on the back of the unit

Amazing piece of equipment.
Crutchfield customer from Orlando, FL on 1/12/2018
This thing is AWESOME!! i wasnt sure if it was going to work with my stereo- but it does. It's powering my speakers throughout my house. It has an awesome feature that it really doesnt tell you in the initial specs online- It's able to sense a signal from your stereo- and it turns on and off by itself- so you never have to touch it again. Plenty of power- - awesome product!
