Very pleased with the Denon AVR-X2700H. Relatively easy to hook up and set up. Results are as expected as this replaced a older Denon AVR.

Pros: Set up was easy and worked well.

Cons: A little too much bass, but was easily corrected.

Arrived in perfect condition with the box shrink wrapped in thick plastic. Included labels for speaker and other wiring was very helpful; labeled as I unplugged from the older unit to make it easy when I plugged in this unit. Connected it to my wifi and ran the firmware updater twice to get it to current version. Having read online reviews and tips, I had already purchased and downloaded the Audyssey MultiEQ app and after running the setup used the app to tweak the settings a little. Great sense of space and positioning when watching content with surround sound, and dialogue has a wider soundstage than before.

My first AVR. It works well with my Polk Reserve speakers with potential to add additional speakers. The HEOS music app could use updates. The remote and the Denon app work really well. Something as simple as increasing volume is a pleasure with the remote so is changing source of audio. It has a physical button on the remote and on the device for various sources of audio. Connect all of them and easily switch.

Verified employee review (What's this?)

The sound from this unit is very good. The hook up and compatibility with older components is questionable. I've had. problems with a Samsung BluRay player and an older Pioneer Laser disk player. The 283 page owners manual is also a little overwhelming for a senior that hasn't bought a new receiver in 35 years. If you have newer HDMI connectivity equipment then this could be great. It works well with my DIRECTV. I still need to use multiple remote control devices which l had hoped only to need one or two.

Pros: Sound quality

Cons: Connectivity problems

Upgrade

Mike from Lake Mary, FL on 6/19/2023

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

This receiver replaced an old Onkyo TX-SR608. The main reason to for this change was for 4k programming ability . Also, Zone 2 covers our pool patio area and I have 4 speakers out there covering about 1800 square feet, about 1000 of it under cover. I needed to set up my homespot longe range receiver through the AUX input in order to get the tv sound to play through those speakers and after a little trial and error, it works like a charm and the Denon X2700H has those speakers sounding so much better than the old Onkyo. I've become a big Denon fan as my first one, the Denon AVR-X1300W, handles the man-cave flawlessly. Lastly, my first ever order from Crutchfield was in 1989 I believe, a pair of Bose bookshelf speakers still in use today in my garage. Kudos to the best audio/video company in the game!

Pros: Huge upgrade in sound compared to the old Onkyo it replaced. Denon makes set-up so easy.

Replaced an older Yamaha aventage a2010. Does have things that I find annoying; Audyssey has some funny curve they use by default which lowers bass, drops the mid at 2k and highs. So annoying! Then you gotta buy the $20 app to fix something that shouldn't need to be "fixed" in the first place. My old Yammy was stupid easy in its setup. Audyssey...not so much. I can't necessarily fault Denon for this, however. That said, the sound quality is great once you get Audyssey tuned. One thing I can ding Denon for is the remote.. why can I not control the power of my TV via the receiver remote? You can control the receiver with the TV remote via the HDMI cec, but not the other way around? Seriously? Haven't found a solution to this yet, and luckily I still have my tv remote..but still... Features are great. Enough HDMI inputs for the average user, and power is enough my Deftechs still rock my man cave.

Excellent at this Price Point

Verified employee review (What's this?)

So I purchased this to replace an older Denon, the AVR-1611, which still works fine but doesn't have 4K or network capabilities. Actually, I was using the 1611 with just ARC but got the X2700H because I ran out of HDMI ports on my TV (Sony X90K)! The sound is almost exactly the same between the two, but the X2700H sounds much better at higher volumes. I'm running this right now in 5.1 with 2 Polk towers, a Klipsch center, and Monitor Audio surrounds. I'd love to add Atmos speakers but feel like this AVR might struggle pushing 7 speakers; Denon should have included pre-outs for the front mains on this model, IMHO. I can't comment on the video processing, as I have all the HDMI ports set for pass-thru, but I can say that it doesn't degrade the image at all, and there are no A/V sync issues present. I also can't get my Xbox Series X to turn everything on via HDMI CeC where my Apple TV 4K and Sony 4K Blu-ray player do so without issue. Despite the minor quibbles I have, this unit is great for most people's needs, especially on sale. It's a shame that this one is basically phased out and the new one is way more expensive...

Pros: +Great value on sale +Excellent theatrical dynamics for most use cases +Ease of use

Cons: -HDMI CeC doesn't work with Xbox Series X -Air Play 2 sounds thin -No pre-out for at least front mains

Pros: Great sound. Lots of programming options.

Cons: No paper manual and an online manual from Denon is hard to find. Downloaded a manual from the Crutchfield website.

I use Zone 2 for the workout area. Selecting a source for this is stupid difficult to do from the receiver. It is a multi-step process that is not intuitive. Owned a previous Onkyo and it was a 1 step process, Denon can learn from them. Admittedly the app is simple to use, but not everyone, including myself, want to use their phone for every aspect of their life.

Verified employee review (What's this?)

First one wouldn't output out of center channel. Second one arrived in a box that was badly damaged before it left the warehouse. Third one finally arrived in perfect condition and worked properly. One odd thing was after performing the Audyssey setup the results listed my front and center speakers as large and the crossover to the sub at full range, meaning none of the low frequencies should be going to the sub. I called Denon and got no help. I called Crutchfield and was told I could override this portion of the setup in the manual setup screen. (Thanks John) I had already done so so I tested it using some 90's rap and the bass is going to my sub and not the bookshelf speakers Audyssey called large. Now that it's set up right it sounds great. Atmos is another world from the 5.1 system I was running.

Pros: Good sound. Dolby Atmos.

Cons: Audyssey gave me conflicting information. I might have enjoyed the extra watts from a Denon 4700h

When my 30year old Kenwood AVR receiver let the smoke out. I was looking to get something with similar output plus all the modern upgrades/conveniences. The Denon AVR-X2700H was it and and for less than twice the price I paid for the Kenwood back in 1988! While sound and features are exceptional for the price. The controls are far less than intuitive. Sure I'm an old geezer but I get along just fine with laptop, mobile phone apps, and such. I take video into an old projector via HDMI cable to VGA converter then into projector. The Denon does not like that for the setup menus and requires me to drag out a HDMI monitor to go through set up. Not all the features are available on the Denon app. In the end the driving experience is clunky, but I'm getting better at doing what I want. Family loves the surround sound.

Pros: Lots of features for price

Cons: Unintuitive controls.

This is more on Crutchfield than the unit. The price was great and it was planned to be a first house present for my son and wife. I had speakers left over from my old system and was going to give them a good start to a theater. When I shared this with them, both had a somewhat cringed smile. Ends up they dont' want lots of boxes all over the living room. They said thank you but no. So now am looking at soundbars for them. Seems she heard one at a friends house and loved how it blended in and sounded. Called Crutchfield right away, order had already shipped but they immediately sent an RA and label so the day after it was delivered I could return it. It arrived to them this morning, and with in an hour the order was processed and the refund will be sent. Everytime I deal with them, continue to be impressed as their customer service is second to none. Never took this unit out of the box, but can't say enough about how they treat their customers.

Glorified Stereo

Verified employee review (What's this?)

This is my third receiver in this price range over the last 10 years. I thought I would try Denon, because of recommendations from various retailers. This is easily the worst purchase of them all. The sound quality is about what you would expect in the sub $1000 range, nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about either. Video capabilities and basic features are where this receiver really stinks. Forget about video upscaling or basic video switching, unless MAYBE you are trying to go from 1080P to 4k (I didn't really try this, but the picture book they call a manual had all kinds of restrictions). I bought this model because it has component in, and I assumed it upscaled, or at least sent it, to the HDMI out, like everything else since 2005? Nope! If you use component in you have to hook up a component out monitor. This defeats the idea of video switching, not to mention upscaling all together. I might as well hook the grand kids WII straight to the TV, it would be easier to get to. The remote is next to useless, the software download "Denon AVR Remote" is even worse. And seriously, go look at their online manuals before buying this piece of ... uh .. equipment. I feel like I have stepped back to the 90's when we ran everything through the stereo. I gave it 2 stars because the sound is adequate, but I think that may be too generous.

Pros: Decent sound Nice black color.

Cons: Poor / no handling of component video Poor / no handling of composite video Poor video switching Useless remote and software Useless manuals and hidden restrictions Setup / configuration is obtuse and virtually undocumented. Brain dead setup "wizard"

Nice upgrade from a 16 year old Harman Kardon AVR that is still functioning. Easy to setup following the on screen menu and the included quick guide. I have downloaded the app and played around with it a little. Appears most if not all functions can be accessed using the remote. Do not use eArc, HEOS or bluetooth so I cannot talk about those features. Using it to run a Polk Audio 5.1 system which finally woke up. One thing I did notice; After performing the Audyssey speaker calibration, the frequencies needed to be adjusted according to the specs of my current speakers. So far, have not had any overheating issues running the AVR in Eco Auto mode and in an enclosed entertainment center with the door opened any time the AVR is powered up. All in all I am very satisfied with the x2700H.

Unfortunately, this has turned out to be the single worst piece of home theater equipment that I ever purchased. It constantly changes inputs on its own. If I'm watching the CBL/SAT input, after a few minutes, it'll switch the input to PHONO (nothing is even connected to the PHONO input). If I'm watching the BLU RAY input, after a few minutes, it'll switch the input to DVD (nothing is even connected to the DVD input). If I'm listening to the CD input, after a few minutes, it'll switch the input to MPLAY (nothing is even connected to the MPLAY input). This phantom input switching happens every single time that I use the receiver. Every. Single. Time. The receiver ruins the watching and listening experience. I've updated the firmware to no avail. I've swapped cables to no avail. Avoid this receiver at all costs. I will avoid all Denon products moving forward.

Pros: Lots of inputs.

Cons: Phantom input switching.

Unexpectently Great!

This X2700H replaced a Marantz NR-1605 to gain the up-conversion to 8K and eARC features. I was afraid that it would not deliver the same sonic quality. Well, I was wrong to be afraid. This Denon not only delivered the superior video feature I was hoping for, but it also delivers incredible sonic quality and imagery! I hope it will continue doing so for a long time. Another great feature is that its depth is smaller than that of the Marantz, that makes cable management much easier in limited depth cabinets! Recommend it without any reservation!

Pros: 8k inputs, 8k upconversion, eARC, outstanding audio performance and connector support, smaller depth than other models

Cons: Have not found one yet

Great Receiver; Great Buying Experience

Brian from RAYMOND, ME on 2/5/2023

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I found the setup to be easy, well guided by the Denon "Get Started" pamphlet. Balancing of my surround sound speakers was managed beautifully by the receiver and the software/microphone interface (provided). I know some people gave the unit lower ratings based on what they saw as complexity, but the reality is that A/V receivers ARE more complex than audio receivers of 20 years ago, given the number of inputs from sources other than directly connected sources via bluetooth, wi-fi, and directly from servers. Additionally, the output is going into seven speakers (and possibly more). Denon has done a nice job making it all work! I also have to say that buying from Crutchfield has been a true pleasure - loads of online information, delivered on time and in perfect condition, and at a price that makes it a great value!

Pros: Setup Support Ease of use Sound quality - CODEC is good quality

Cons: It does run a bit warm

Excellent receiver. Great standard bearer; High Quality yet reasonably affordable, especially with the discount. I updated my 20+ year old Denon AVR 1804 (which still works fine) to take advantage of the new technologies. It was easy to set up and did a nice job balancing my in-ceiling and in-wall JAMO speakers via Audyssey. HEOS works well making it easy to sync with apps and convenient to control remotely. It has more than sufficient power for a large room. Switching sound modes is simple; movies and music both sound great.

Loving this receiver so far. A huge improvement over my previous receiver as far as ease of setup and then ability to make tweaks to the sound. I like that I can set up two speaker setups and assign them to Quick Select. I use one setup for my stereo sources (pure direct for turntable) and another for my surround sound sources. This receiver makes it easy to adjust and access your different setups. HDMI CEC has also worked perfectly (something that was very fickle with my old Onkyo receiver). So far, so good!

Purchased the Denon AVR-X2700H to replace my 2010 Pioneer SC-57 that finally failed UE-22 error. Decided that i didn't need the 11.2 3-ZONE receiver and could get by with 2'zone as i was running 5.1. Seems to do the job. I'm hearing impaired and wear hearing aids so sound quality is completely subjective. I'm also old school. My 30 year old Adcom 5-channel power amp (still functional) weighs 3 times what this unit weighs.even my new Panasonic UB 9000 Blu-ray weighs more. In my mind heavy means solid and long lasting. Sure I could pay thousands more for a piece of equipment built like a tank, but my ears would not know the difference. Hope I can get a few years out of this unit.

I upgraded to this system from a Yamaha (7.2 dual zone RX-V867) and with the same speakers noticeably better sound quality. The mobile app is much better, too. Little things like web control and onscreen programming (that doesn't require IR access) make this a much more enjoyable ownership experience. I use the dual zone feature a lot and it works well on this unit - I have a main media room and a patio, so nice to be able to turn patio on/off and have dual volume control. Overall, I'm very happy.

For some reason I decided to upgrade my sound system. Started with a pair of Wharfedale EVO4.3 stand speakers and a EVO4 center speaker from Crutchfield. The old Sheffield receiver didn't have enough power to really drive the new speakers and the Wharfedales had no problem reproducing a steady buzz from the receiver. Tried to talk myself into a few different (less expensive) receivers but kept coming back to the Denon based on the specs and reviews. Made all the connections then turned on the Denon. Setup was straight forwards following along on the TV screen. Up scaling of the cable signal gives a much better image than prior. Drives the speakers with ease. Find myself listing at a louder volume as both TV/movie audio and music is so crisp and distortion free at all volumes. Probably overkill for my current setup but it is nice to finally to move on from just ok to something that makes you notice what you've been missing. I think I keep the volume turned up.

Steve from Owings Mills, MD on 11/13/2022

Verified employee review (What's this?)

The AVR-X2700H is a decent (but not great) AV receiver. You really have to push it hard to get reasonable volume levels and it gets very hot, very quickly. Plan on spending a full day to fully dial-in the settings and learn the myriad "quirks" associated with this product. Helpful Tips: - If you purchase this unit the first thing you should do is check for a firmware update and install it if is available. I spent hours configuring this device only to lose my Audyssey calibration and optimization settings after updating the firmware. In hindsight saving the configuration before doing the update would have been a great idea. - Format a thumb drive as FAT32 and save your configuration to it. - If you use eARC to connect your TV to the receiver and you have an older Blu-Ray player and get no audio from it turn off "Deep Color" on the TV's HDMI input port that connects your TV to the receiver. Changing the setting in the Blu-Ray player won't fix the problem. You have to change it on the TV. - Keep in mind, you'll need at least one video device plugged into the receiver to be able to utilize the on-screen configuration tool. If you have all of your devices plugged into your smart TV and nothing plugged into the receiver you are in for a frustrating configuration process. - Get yourself a cooling fan unit. I put a thermometer on top of this receiver and in an open cabinet it easily hits 94 degrees (F) when watching movies at an absolut

Pros: - On-screen configuration is nice (once you get it to work) - Speaker Virtualization for Atmos works very well.

Cons: - Runs Hot! - At least one video device has to be connected to the receiver in order to use the on-screen configuration tool. - Deep color must be disabled on the TV to support audio on older Blu-Ray players. - Smartphone app is needed to fully optimize audio and video settings while viewing broadcast TV, any apps on your Smart TV, or any source connected directly to your TV.

Great little receiver and a good value. Easy setup and with the help of Crutchfield techs. Audessey did not help me much as it put a lot of the sound at the rear speakers, so I manually adjusted the surround to my liking. Can't go wrong with the model. I had first purchased a Yamaha receiver, that stopped working after a firmware update... 1 day.I was very pleased with the sound quality of the Yamaha, but during the return process, found there were none available, which brings me to the Denon 2700H... To be honest, I've always been a Sony person, which is what this is replacing. That said, I am less than impressed with the sound quality of this unit. Even after running the sound adjustment , I found it worse.. I ended up taking it back to factory settings. What I do like, is the Heos, software, I was pleased I could sign into Sirius, and other web based stations, All in all, set up was easy and straight forward. Other reviews mention the fact that the unit runs hot, and after running it several minutes at higher volumes, the unit will stop working. So, after running a cd player, the phono and in home theater setting, I am left scratching my head at this one. I'll most likely find a shop to go over my older Sony unit, and bring it up to par... set this one on a shelf as a back up perhaps.

Pros: Easy set up Heos Software

Cons: overall sound quality

PROS: Great sound experience. Lots of input options. Fairly simple initial setup will get you up and running. NEUTRAL: HEOS is nice, but it lacks the ability to integrate with other platforms, so if you want to go all HEOS, you will be fine, but if you already have SONOS, JBL, or other sound sharing platforms, this won't integrate. Audyssey setup takes time, and is a little clumsy. CONS: The web control interface is terrible. You can't actually control the multimedia experience, just some of the settings. The onscreen menu is clumsy and in need of serious updating. Runs hot. I had to install extra fans in my AV Cabinet to keep it cool.

Pros: Sound is great. easy basic setup.

Cons: Web interface is terrible. Clumsy on-screen menus. Runs hot.

After 15 months of ownership I finally got this thing to perform how I want it. I use the HEOS on it quite frequently to stream Pandora. Usually have it in all channel music setting when doing so. If i pushed it to 65 for about 10 minutes it would thermal protection. My own fault as i'm running 7 greedy but efficient speakers plus the 2 subs. I recently purchased an Aircom T9 to place on top the receiver and found that even on the lowest fan setting it was able to keep the receiver cool and running. I went up to 75 for 15 minutes today and the cooler's temp readout never went over 72°. I got curious about the temp actually being functional so i turned off fans and lowered volume to 40. After 10 minutes it was in the 90s. So if you want to abuse this thing for music, get a simple cooler on it. No problems in movie atmos mode.

Pros: Great options Easy to connect Everything I need

Cons: Runs hot under normal use, easily fixed with an external cooler No rca preout if you want to add an amplifier to the mix

Nice receiver, it had been a while since I purchased my last one and the tech upgrades with this one were a pleasant surprise. I listen to music in stereo almost all the time vs watching movies thus I have my front speakers Bi-amped and the sound is impressive. Still exploring features, will get more into to them this winter.

Pros: It works

Incredible sound experience... Love this Denon receiver with all the wonderful features and Heos is so convenient to use with Pandora, Amazon music, Sirius/XM, etc. I'm using this receiver mainly for music as it's in my new workshop attached to a monitor so I don't use many of the theater features except for settings, Audyssey, and display for music tracks. 4-Polks (S15) with a Sub coupled to this receiver.......sounds great! Third Denon Receiver, and the Best Yet

Crutchfield customer from Gainesville, VA on 7/27/2021

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

This is my third Denon receiver, and they've all been great, but this one is by far the best. But first of all, I'm not what you would call you'd call a home-theater enthusiast. I like to watch movies, and I've learned that audio quality is perhaps even more important than video. I have a 7.1 installation, all Polk speakers, with professionally-installed rear ceiling speakers. I'm not set up for Atmos, which this receiver can handle if you're willing to sacrifice two of the rear speakers, and I'm not doing that. This upgrade was actually motivated by the desire for a new projector that could fill the wall-mounted screen I've installed; the previous model could not do this and the new one is 4K, even though I really don't notice much difference between 4K and 1080p (remember, we watch the content, not the image). Regardless, a 4K receiver seemed like a good idea, so here we are. Audio (and video) quality are excellent and the Audyssey implementation in this receiver is excellent, judging from the results. As you might guess from the above, I'm not a tweaker, although there's a lot to tweak here if you so desire. In the past I've had to adjust the post-Audyssey settings, but not this time - apart from renaming inputs, I've made not other changes. Anyway, lots of flexibility if you need it, but I'm very happy with the basics. My only complaint is that the remote should be back-lit. Otherwise - you really can't go wrong here.

Pros: Easy set-up, excellent audio and video quality.

Cons: Remote is not back-lit.

I have had a significant number of problems with this receiver. One of the more annoying ones is I had to disable all of the HDMI power management features because sometimes (seemingly at random) when I power on one device (say my Apple TV) it will turn on my blu-ray player as well and switch to it as the input source. The latest problem that I can't find a work around for is I get no audio from my connected (Sony) blu-ray player when trying to display to my (LG) TV. From what I have found via google it appears to be some sort of between TV and the blu-ray player that is causing confusion in the receiver. If I turn on my projector (which is connected to the second display port) I get sound (even if the TV is on too).

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I just received my receiver today and it doesn't come with a full manual on how to hook up the wires, connect to your wi-fi or anything. That's just crap! I have to get online download the manual, look for this, look for that, and hope I get it all. I thought Denon was a class act. This receiver is replacing an older Denon that I had and it had a full manual. That's so cheap of the company not to include the manual with a product that you bought from them so you know how to use it. I get it, everybody has wi-fi, look it up, yada yada yada. But what if I bought this for my cabin and there is no wi-fi there, then what do I do? Thumbs down to Denon and their cheap ways. Splurge for the extra 25 cents to print a manual. I am on the fence on returning it.

Pros: I can't list any because I do not have a manual to know how to use it

Cons: No frickin manual

So far so good. I was replacing an old pioneer system that died after 10 years. Setup was easy & sound is great. I was a bit disappointed that at this level a component video source does not get translated to HDMI and a separate component video cable is required to be run to the TV ( I knew this before purchase based on the description but my 10 year old pioneer did this). Still need to set up my outdoor zone 2 once I build my deck this spring.

New equipment is always nice especially if your replacing a 20 year old receiver. (the old receiver had S-Video hookups, anyone remember them?). The hook up was pretty painless, especially with the HDMI cable going from the receiver to ARC input of the TV. In the old days I would have had to run an audio cable, a video cable and another cable to connect the two components. Much easier this way. The rest of the setup was just as easy with On-Screen Setup Assistant. Especially liked the sound calibration microphone which makes speaker adjustment setup quick and easy. Now I can connect Bluetooth devices and using HEOS I have access to my music apps. I'm set for the nest 20 years fingers crossed.

The sound is usually great, although some sources are not. It takes a bit of learning to get to the best sound for each input. So, there is some trial and error to get the most out of it. Didn't realize that this receiver does not upgrade the input, so a composite in requires a composite out. It doesn't change the composite in to HDMI out. Also didn't realize that to use zone 2 you sacrifice the 2 back speakers. Otherwise, I really like the performance and the more I learn about the receiver the more I like it.

This receiver is glitchy at times. Every couple days it will suddenly turn off in the middle of listening to a record, or randomly turn itself on when nobody is near the remote. For the first week when I got my xbox series x I had to bypass the receiver to play in 4k. I'd try going through the receiver again every few days, and eventually it worked fine even though I never changed anything. I'm on the latest firmware for all my devices. Denon support hasn't picked up the phone during their posted office hours or replied to my email. That being said, when it's working I really like it. Audio quality is good to my ears, as is the 4k video quality.

Great home theater receiver at a mid-range price point

Crutchfield customer from Golden, CO on 11/10/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

I purchased this receiver after researching options off and on for a couple months. I've had it set up for a couple weeks now and I'm very happy with it so far. I have a relatively small family area and didn't need a super powerful receiver, and I'm not an extreme audiophile so didn't crave a really high end system. I did want a receiver that would support building out a surround sound system, and one that would integrate with my home media server as well as the various music services I use. So far things are working great. Setup was super easy. I took my time working through the process and had everything set up over the course of a couple hours. The calibration device is pretty cool and seems to have done a good job. I can now play music from my media server, through Apple Airplay, and through Amazon Music and Pandora. I've mostly used the receiver for music and football so far, using two Polk Audio RTi A7 speakers. The sound is great. I have a sub-woofer on the way and will test out the first step toward a better home theater setup this weekend. There is only one thing I've encountered so far that I would change. I most frequently have the cable TV set top box set as the input to the receiver, with the picture passed through to the TV. When I turn on the Apple TV device to watch shows there it would be nice if the receiver auto-switched the device to the just activated device. Not a big deal, and maybe it can be dealt with. Bottom line, thumbs up to this re

The Engine That Powers It All

John from Riverside, CA on 9/28/2020

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I bought this receiver because it has features that will keep it up to date for years to come (8K, 2.1 HDMI, 7.2). It also has plenty of outputs to expand your system later if you only have a 5.1 setup like myself. I plan on utilizing the the dual zone capabilities with the other 2 channels and second video output in the near future. Out of the box, I wasn't that impressed with how everything sounded but that all changed after I used the included Audyssey speaker calibration. The sound blew me away. Currently I am running 5 Polk RC80i's and a Cambridge Minx X301 subwoofer. Movies and music sound amazing! Stream an Atmos demo after you have it all dialed in and get the full effect. The eARC has also worked great for me. I have it paired with an LG GX TV. I only ran one HDMI cable to the TV as I planned on using the receiver for switching sources. The receiver flawlessly switches between PS4, satellite TV, and streaming apps without using the Denon remote. I'm able to use volume and on/off controls for the receiver just using the LG remote. It may not work as well as a high end remote but I'm quite happy with eARC functionality so far. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I highly recommend this receiver, especially if you're looking for something that supports 8K or 4K/120Hz for the next round of gaming consoles.

Spoke with Sam on Sept 19 as my 10 year old Onkyo was giving me problems and so wanted some feedback on the Denon AVR-X2700H. Sam was knowledgable and thorough, being familiar with my old unit and very familiar with the Denon being able to explain both similarities and differences between the two. No sales pitch whatsoever. As a result of his patience and knowledge I pulled the trigger on the Denon. It was delivered yesterday 9/23. Set up was easy (with a little help from Jase at Tech support) and I could not be happier with the sound and performance. Compared to my old unit, great sound for movies and tv, and even better sound for music, both streaming and my vinyl collection. Was surprised at how easy set up was with setup assistant even the Audyssey part which I initially was a little tentative about. Both my wife and I could not be happier with the purchase and the excellent customer service Crutchfield provides.

Very good receiver with additions on it to keep your receiver up to date in the years to come with 8k. I upgraded to this receiver from a Harmon Kardon avr 254 that didn't go well with my new 4K tv but oh does the Denon do it and with ease too on the setup and the Audyssey speaker calibration that made the sound amazing in my living room for my music, games and movies......I highly recommend this receiver, even though I came looking for a Yamaha, this one is perfect and happy I decided on this instead.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY

Stephen from Austin, TX on 8/17/2020

THE GOOD: All inputs work great without handshake problems. Xbox One, Sony UBP-X700 4K blu ray player, Sony X900H TV, Wi U, Wi Switch. No distortion of video and fantastic surround sound. The HDMI passthrough switching works great with the unit in standby mode. The internet radio picks up local stations that I normally have trouble receiving with an antenna. I have the X2700H set up with some Sony SS-SCE dolby atmos speakers pointing to the ceiling. The atmos height sound is subtle but there. I tried the system without the atmos speakers using only the dolby virtual height function and got pretty close to the same immersive sound. Close enough to ponder returning the Sony speakers. THE BAD: The remote is feather weight and flimsy. The manual reports function within 30 degrees radius from center on each side. It is more like 15 degrees. My biggest disappointment is this X series Denon receiver does not come with a blue tooth remote. Denon includes a paper rocket ship for the microphone to set up Audessy. The cost of that large packaging and the fact Denon has online manuals now could have been used help put blue tooth in the remote. THE UGLY: I also expected a lot more concerning the GUI with the X series. I was disappointed with the onscreen interface. It looks archaic for year 2020 and not user friendly. Most settings take a double click to get into and change and a double click to get out after the change. Yuck! UPDATED 5/19/21: I thought this may help. In case anyone has an issue with 4K/120Hz & 8K Denon has a solution...HDMI Adapter kit to solve 4K/120Hz & 8K incompatibility issue. It is free from Denon.

Pros: Great sound with lots of HDMI inputs and no handshake problems.

Cons: GUI needs updating. NO blue tooth remote
