This is a quality turntable. I could not be happier. After hooking it up to my Kanto speakers the sound is back to my 70s stereo sound system. It is automatic, so you push a button to start and then it stops automatically. It was pretty easy to assemble, but if you need help Crutchfield is there to help. Fantastic customer service.

Solid, but needs an upgraded cartridge
Daniel from Lincoln, CA on 4/8/2023
I've had this unit for 4-5 years now. I don't use it too too often but once every 2-3 weeks I'll feel vinyl-y and want to spin something. I love the auto start/stop automatic action and I feel like the form factor is good enough. Certainly not sleek, but between dust and my cat jumping on it, I'm glad for the clamshell dust cover. Things I don't like: RCA cable buried inside the unit. Why? What if I'd like to upgrade this cable? What if something goes wrong with it? I'm going to have to open it up? Bizarre design choice there. Especially because we know they're not giving us a good quality cable. Second thing is the cartridge is straight up terrible. Everything is muddy and thin through it. Makes you wonder why you're listening to vinyl instead of streaming. I replaced this with an Ortofon 2M Blue and it's night and day. No exaggeration. The internal pre-amp is better than the phono stage on my Yamaha TSR-7810,but I'm planning to replace that soon with a standalone stage. Anyway what I'd say it's that the MSRP of this unit is not the true cost because you need to upgrade the cartridge at minimum and the stage to really make a difference. You can basically double the cost. And then you'll have your sound. So I'll leave you with that thought.
Pros: Decent form factor, nice automatic functionality, usable pre-amp
Cons: Horrifically bad cartridge, RCAs non-replaceable

Looks and Sounds Good
Darrel from Concord, CA on 1/27/2023
I looked at this turntable for quite a while before purchasing it about 3 ½ years ago. If you want a fully automatic turntable your choices are limited, but I see that is improving since I purchased this turntable. The Denon DP-300F turntable didn't have everything I wanted, but it turned out to be a good one. I like the low profile design; it works flawlessly and sounds great. I recently upgraded the cartridge to an AT VM540ML. It was a good improvement but I didn't have any complaints with the original one. As others have stated, I don't like the fixed audio cables, the lack of a ground wire, though it must be grounded some way otherwise it would make a humming noise. There is no noise. Some have said it's grounded in the audio cable, others said in the power cord. I don't know but the lack of a ground wire has not been an issue at all. Also the lack of a tonearm latch, but I found a work around. What I did to solve this problem is I went to Michael's and bought a package of pipe cleaners, twisted the pipe cleaner at the base of the tonearm rest, then again to the tonearm and cut of the excess leaving enough to reuse it when needed. I'm giving this turntable 5 stars because the cons are not a deal breaker for me. I can't comment on the built in preamp, didn't try it as my receivers have a phono input. As always Crutchfield has the best customer service with a very knowledgeable staff.
Pros: Looks and Sounds Good, Fully Automatic
Cons: Fixed Audio Cables

Love this turntable and have had it for several years, just upgraded the cartridge to a ortofon red and as I went to separates ( pre-amp and amp) added a NAD turntable pre-amp and could not be happier( now I am really interested in the ortofon blue, but hey I am enjoying everything now) I was content with the turntable before, my bowers and wilkins cm-10's, Marantz pre and Emotiva xpa amplifier along with turntable setup, color me done ( at least for now lol )
Pros: Ease of use, sound, price( caught it on sale)

This turntable was recommended to me via chat by Bethany as a replacement for the One-Jet I ordered from Sonos to use with my Sonos amp. Setup was easy with the included instructions, seamless integration to the Sonos system. Works and sounds great with the pre amp that's part of the turntable. Perfect solution for what I needed and has me back listening to my old albums again.

Much better options out there!
Ron from Garfield, NJ on 6/4/2022
I cannnot suggest this to anyone serious about vinyl. While it is a good player, there are too many problems and design issues. 1 - Horrible, horrible, horrible, low quality fixed rca cable with nowhere to hook up your ground. 2 - Internal phono preamp is cheap as well and the soundstage/phasing is like a childs toy. 3 - trying to get the speed varitations set is a nightmare!!! There are 2 ridiculously small holes on the bottom of the plynth, which you cannot see into, and there are rubber gaskets to try and poke the smallest flat head screwedriver into. 4 - If you live in the USA like most of us do, guess what? The voltage is different in Asia, so everything will spin faster than 33.3 or 45 here in the United States according to electricity and science!!! Good luck setting the speed properly when your turntable arrives!!!!! 5 - The plynth and design feels cheap and hollow, this causes problems when you can't ground the thing. You'll pick up all sorts of noises especially if you tap the plynth by mistake. Everything feels like plastic garbage on this turntable. 6 - The headshell is curved!!! You will NEVER be able to change to another headshell. So your stuck with the bent headshell design... which I think is not a good idea at all aesthetically speaking. 7 - Denon offers no upgrade to a better platter. Shall I go on?
Pros: Aumatically controlled, that's about it.
Cons: Too many to overcome once you start breaking the turntable in... see my review! Everything I wrote is from personal experience and 100% accurate.

I would give this changer a 5 star rating but I wanted to answer a question here. Why does this unit not have a tone arm lock? This is a fully automatic tone arm unlike many semi auto tonearms (auto return) or fully manual. I have had several older fully auto turntables with tone arm locks, and I just wondered if you all know what happens when you press start and forget to unlock the tone arm? I know.....

It performs as advertised. I have only two complaints, which have been noted by other reviewers. One, it has a built in RCA cable that appears not to be top quality, and is scarcely long enough. The other is, there is no grounding wire. It was very easy to set up. I like Crutchfield's customer support. I may take advantage of it in the future.

Great mid-line turntable for the price point
Crutchfield customer from Brooklyn, NY on 9/13/2021
This is a great turntable for its price point. It's actually been life-changing, as I've long been in need of an upgrade. It makes my old 1970s & '90s vinyl sound good, and the newer, higher quality pressings sound amazing. I would describe myself as a step below audiophile. I have a great vintage JVC receiver and compact Bose speakers, both from the '90s. The system wouldn't do justice to a real, high-end system, but good enough to bring out the flaws in an entry level, so the DP-300F hit the sweet spot. It was easy to set up, which was important. It's been 20 years since I set up a new turntable, and was a little nervous. Has a detachable headshell, should I ever want to swap out cartridges. As for the Dennon cartridge it comes with, I could see myself upgrading at some point, but it holds its own, and I'm happy with it for now. There are a few cons: The most notable is that feet are not adjustable, so it really needs a level surface. The others are head scratchees, because they wouldn't add significantly to the manufacturing cost: There's no clasp to hold the tone arm in place when moving it. There's nothing to hold the 7in adapter in place, so it slides if you have to move the turntable and forget to grab it first. Finally, the manual mistakenly refers to inches as "ft." Yeah. Denon could hire a proof reader. But none of these are deal breakers in the least. As a side note, Crutchfield support was great as I was setting it up.

Cons: Weak built in preamp limits use on receivers without a dedicated phono input

Well Performing Budget Turntable
Dan from Charleston, SC on 11/22/2020
I needed to replace my old Rega turntable and was looking for something inexpensive. I had read some good reviews of the DP 300F and decided to give it a try. I have to say that I'm quite pleased with this purchase. Set-up was easy, though the first thing I did was to replace the stock cartridge with the "low-mileage" Shure (can't find the model #) from the Rega. As others have mentioned, I'm giving it four stars instead of five for 1) the lack of a tonearm latch, and 2) cheap-looking, hard-wired interconnects where I would rather just have female RCA jacks. Overall though, I am quite pleased with this purchase.
Pros: Very good performance for the price with cartridge upgrade.
Cons: -Hard-wired interconnect cables. -No tonearm latch.

Decent turntable
Crutchfield customer from East Moline, IL on 11/6/2020
My 6-record changer's automatic features stopped working; it was like using a manual turntable, but I wanted the automatic start and stop that I had been used to. The Denon DP-300F had a great description, was on sale, and was recommended. It is nice-looking and was easy to set up but I could not get any decent sound using the included cartridge and stylus. I replaced it with the cartridge from my old turntable and the sound is great. I hope I didn't void the warranty. I like the automatic start and stop of the turntable. I wish I could update the RCA cables to something better. I give this turntable 4 stars.
Pros: good looks; fully automatic start and stop; built-in pre-amp if needed
Cons: worthless cartridge; RCA cables cannot be changed

I gave this a 2 star rating 3 years ago; I had many problems with it. I should have sent it back but I didn't buy it here and it would have been a hassle. I found it on sale here so I bought it again. None of the problems I had before, and it is a great automatic turntable. None of the speed problems reported by others. If it had RCA output jacks, a tonearm latch, and a 10" record setting I would give it 5 stars.
Pros: Good build quality, excellent sound.
Cons: Hardwired output cable, no tonearm latch. Wish it had 10" record setting, but no automatic these days has that.

I got this to replace my Denon DP-DJ151 which finally gave up the ghost. Nice table for the money. Very quiet. The included cartridge is surprisingly good! The build components do however feel rather cheap. One thing that did bother me was that the table speed was a little fast causing the playback to not sound quite right. I looked on a few forums and found that you can adjust the motor speed. Do not do this if you want to preserve your warranty! I was able to finally make the adjustment with the help of a turn table RPM app on my phone, however making the adjustment does take patience and a light touch.
Pros: Nice and quiet. Good overall table.
Cons: Motor speed was fast right out of the box. Materials were a little cheap.

I'd been looking for a turntable in the $3-400 range for a few months. With about 600 titles on vinyl not being played for over 15 years, it seemed time. The DP-300F fit the bill. Built-in phono pre-amp and automatic operation were big on my list of features.
Pros: Easy setup and price point
Cons: Not enough time to listen!

Nice easy turntable but I'm a musician and it plays everything about 20 cents sharp. Can't tune to music one records. Drag. Its a nice product other than that. May have to return it.
Pros: Nice machine especially for the price.
Cons: Plays everything sharper than A-440

Very happy with my purchase of this turntable. Was exactly what I was looking for. Paul's expertise in helping me decide on which turntable to choose was spot on. A little confusing when setting up but a call to Tech Support resulted in an instructional video as to how to balance the tone arm and all is good. Great sound and very happy. Sale price made it even better. Only criticism is lack of a clip to lock tone arm in place.

This is a work of art. A fantastic machine and absolutely stunning. I love love love the automatic feature and you can make it manual if you want but I just hit a button and let it go. So wonderful. It also has technology to allow the needle to lower slowly and softly on the record. I'd recommend this to anyone.

I got this tt 6 months ago as a birthday present and I have been playing about 10 hours a week since then. Of course I picked it for myself, after after researching other turntables, like the marantz tt42 As far as I can tell, they are probably made in the same factory, with slight differences. The Signal to Noise Ratio is acceptable and the weight is great for average vibration elimination. At the end of the day, I preferred the classic looks of the Denon, compared to others in the same category. I'm very happy with the tt and don\t see myself wanting to upgrade anytime soon. The preamp and motor is very quiet compared to the cheaper units I have tried. The denon stock needle is a little weak and you should probably consider upgrading to a better needle. LP Gear has a decent needle for about $35. Crutchfield's service was perfect.

i had an old kenwood table that was functional and i used it for years. now, with my new denon DP-300F it`s so much better! this turntable is so smooth and with the sumiko black pearl cartridge, the audio is so much better! i like the automatic feature of this table, also. this denon is perfect for me whether listening or recording. i like it. as i`ve come to find out, the customer service is non-pareil. marshall is as good as(maybe better) than they come. great personality, very cordial and remarkably knowledgeable of the products and techniques. it`s a distinct pleasure to deal with this man. he makes the process quite pleasureable. great experience! bill g.

Philip from Jay, NY on 12/30/2017
Bought because it was a great deal (actually bought 2 - one as a gift and one for me). Seems to work just fine. Needs a clip to lock the tonearm in place, and the cartridge is good, not great, but overall a huge bang for the buck. The receiver I hooked it up to has a dedicated phono input, so I don't know or care how good/bad the built in preamp is. As usual, Crutchfield is great to deal with.
Pros: Good value - gets the job done. The auto return is a nice feature.
Cons: no locking clip for the tonearm, so you have to be careful if you move it.

Good value and very upgradeable
Michael from Cookeville, TN on 12/24/2017
I good looking turntable and good value. The sound out of the box was fine but not spectacular. When I turned off the built-in preamp and connected my old Denon PRA-1500 preamp just to use it as a phono stage the sound immediately improved significantly. Using a full size preamp just for its built-in phono stage was a bit of overkill so I started shopping around for a dedicated phono preamp and settled on the Cambridge Audio CP2. The Denon PRA-1500 has a great MM/MC phono stage and so I didn't notice any obvious improvement but it still sounded very good. So unless you already have a great phono preamp then you will get much better sound with an upgrade. Listening to my old LPs again was fantastic after years of the two dimensional digital sound that I had settled for when I shelved my old Denon separates in favor of a home theater setup. That made me want to tweak the Denon DP-300F even more to see what it was really capable of with a decent phono cartridge. So I struggled with a decision between the Denon DL-110 High-Output moving coil vs the Denon DL-103R. I finally chose the DL-110 and I was a nervous wreck having never replaced a phono cartridge and aligned it before. I purchased another head shell to mount it on in case I screwed up the new one. After mounting & aligning the cartridge I played an old record and the sound was incredible! Wow, what an improvement! This turntable leaves you room to upgrade as finances allow without breaking the bank up front.
Pros: Reasonable up front costs and can be tweaked for great sound.
Cons: No tone arm lock.

Worth the cost, great bargain
Festus from Point Pleasant, NJ on 11/24/2017
To be completely fair, I want to revise my review on this turntable. It does have all the faults I mentioned, but I easily replaced the poor output cable, and replaced the cartridge with a different brand. I can only use it as a semiauto because the tonearm drops too hard, and does not land in the right spot. But it is better than having the thing keep running at the end of the record, until you get there to turn it off. It has no separate grounding wire, but it is grounded through the RCA cables and there is no hum. Also, this turntable sounds fabulous with the new cartridge in place, internal preamp turned off, into a Marantz PM 5005 Integrated amp (with phono input), into B&W DM601S3 speakers (bi-wired). It is worth the cost, and a great bargain for the sale price. Snatch this thing up now while it is on sale. You won't regret it.
Pros: Sound is great, if you upgrade the cartridge and use an external phono preamp. Excellent tonearm, smooth speed, inaudible wow and flutter. Worth the cost.
Cons: Hardwired output cable, cartridge not good enough for this unit, substandard internal phono preamp.

Not good enough. Expected better from Denon.
Festus from Jersey coast on 11/17/2017
I am not fond of any turntable with hardwired output cable, which this has, and it is a crappy cable. And, there is no grounding terminal. Included cartridge is junk, and must be replaced. I put on a different brand of cartridge, and now this turntable sounds great. But on fully automatic play, the tonearm lands too far in. I also wish it could be fully. Auto on 10" records.
Pros: Inaudible wow and flutter; fully automatic.
Cons: Crappy cartidge and output cablecable; hard wired output cable; no ground terminal; can only use as semiato. Wilt ship land on 10" records.

Surprisingly excellent sound. easy operation, more like plug and play. automatic functions makes it so easy to use Cons: cant use external pre amp. no ground wires. RCA cables wired into TT. All in all great value, when on special. as always Crutchfield service was second to none.
Pros: Ease of use Easy set up Good sound with included cartridge Can change/upgrade cartridge if desired. Fully automatic. Great for novices.
Cons: RCA wires attached to TT Can't use a separate preamp. it has a built in preamp. Buttons on front feel cheap, and has some lag to respond after pushing the buttons.

Checked my boxes for a low-maintenance cheap Auto TT!
Carter from Berkeley, CA on 8/6/2017
I bought this turntable "Scratch and dent." Aside from it missing one of the pads on the front corners of the lid, and not being cosmetically perfect, I have to admit, for $170, this turntable is pretty darn good. I have heard a lot of great turntables and have to say, I don't see the novice listener noticing a drastic difference in sound quality. That being said, I have to say, I don't think I'd be 100% satisfied if I had paid $300 or more as was the original MSRP. I think you can get some pretty great (not so old) Automatic TT's for the $300 range, but there's always the risk that something fails, and good luck finding a cheap way of fixing it. It is very lightweight, resonance is an issue, but if you can find a way to keep this turntable isolated from vibrations and not move the lid too much while playing records, you'll be pleased. I looked into a LOT of Automatic TT's and have to say, this one looks and works exactly how I'd hoped and it's one of the few Auto TT's that comes with adjustable tracking force and Anti-skate. It fits the bill for not being too automatic either (no cueing button) which means one less thing to disturb the tonearm. I'd definitely recommend this TT for the novice record fiend. I'm curious as to how it would sound with a good phono stage and a better cartridge, but I'm not planning on turning this TT into a rabbit hole for upgrades. It will mostly serve as a novelty item for our
Pros: Cheap Automatic without cueing Aesthetically good looking (IMHO) Pretty good Sound
Cons: Automatic feature is pretty slow and loud best to not move the lid while playing, as it's movement causes audible disturbance in playback.

Unbeatable at the new sale price
Daniel from CO - Colorado on 7/23/2017
This is an initial review. I am immediately pleased with this purchase. I got it at the new sale price which makes it unbeatable in this price range. I previously owned a project debut with an upgraded cartridge (sumiko pearl). Total cost there was about twice as much. I could NEVER get the inner groove distortion to an acceptable level on the project. I had it professionally adjusted twice. No luck. It also tracked poorly on some records. This Denon already sounds better in the center of the record right out of the box. Also, I like the automatic feature. Some may scoff.. but that first time you leave the house with a manual table running all day long is a real bummer. And it WILL happen. Unless you are going to jump up to the $500+ range, this is a great table. Maybe my project was a dud. I know others like it.
Pros: Great tracking. Automatic feature is nice. Looks classy. Inner grooves don't exhibit much distortion compared to others I've tried. PRICE!!

I have always been a fan of vintage turntables. I started having trouble with one of mine and at about the same time this one went on sale so I pounced on it. I haven't regretted it for one second. I'm really pleased at how simple it is, the stability, the auto return, and it sounds great. Looks much better in person than I thought it would, too
Pros: Simple, great sound, stable, does not need ground wire connection, automatic
Cons: None so far. I did change the cartridge but that's because I had a high-quality one available. I never gave the stock cartridge much of a try so I don't have an opinion on it

This is an example of how good design and engineering can produce an outstanding product. It has excellent fit and finish and an eligent sleek look. Has superior sound. Was impressed with the thick rubber mat unlike the cheap thin felt mats typically sold on more expensive tables. It looks and works as advertised. The automatic features for the price are also great. I am going to swap out the OEM cartridge with the Shure cartridge that was in the old turntable -- there is a noticeable difference when listening to my old vinyl collection using the same amplifier -- the cartridge being the only difference. Denon DP-300F, first thoughts
John M from Northfield, NJ on 1/11/2017
This turntable replaced an old direct drive Sansui p-m55 that just gave up on me after 35+ years.I am still getting used to the nuances of this model but the basic operation is straight forward and the sound reproduction is good. I am using the oem cartridge that was included with the unit. It's nothing fancy but gets the job done for now. Out of the box I had a minor issue with the belt drive "riding up" on the drive spindle that caused the platter to turn at the wrong speeds. Once that was discovered and corrected (thanks to support call) by re positioning the belt, all was well. The TT us fairly heavy, provides a solid base for the platter. Tracking is set to 2 gm which is much lighter than my old TT, making walking near the stereo a challenge when it plays. The speed and platter size selection buttons are mechanical in nature and are a little noisy when pushed. Automatic operation is flawless and the stylus cue lever worked well out of the box. This is being used with a Yamaha RX-A760bk home theater receiver. I hope this last me another 35+ years!
Pros: solid build, decent performance for the price,
Cons: not used to belt drive, only hope replacement belts will not be an issue later May have to purchase more vinyl now.

Broken pieces
Jaime from Nanuet, NY on 12/27/2016
I can't review the actual turntable yet but I can review how it was packaged. The box for the turntable was sealed within another box that was packed with peanuts so it is doubtful my issues are from shipping. We opened the box and the turntable was preassembled. One of the hinges from the dust cover was completely snapped off. I wrote to Crutchfield and as usual their customer service was responsive and great. I had to wait to try the turntable because we did not have speakers, they arrived today and we went to play a record and the needle on the cartridge is completely snapped off. I don't believe this is an error on Crutchfield but on Denon. To have two separate items broken in one order is really unacceptable especially when you think you're receiving a high quality product. We had to order a replacement cartridge so I really hope that when we are actually able to use the turntable it will sound worth this hassle.
Pros: Looks beautiful
Cons: Came with two pieces broken

Ted from Denver, CO on 12/18/2016
This is a poor quality deck. The first one I ordered lasted about two weeks before it became unlistenable due to dramatic speed variation. Crutchfield quickly and courteously replaced it, but the second one did the same thing six months later. No replacement offered from Crutchfield this time, although I wouldn't really want another of these anyway. I guess I was naive to think I could expect a reasonable level of quality at this price point. That is too bad because I used to trust Denon.
Pros: Automatic function, price
Cons: Unacceptable quality.

Great Turntable!
Crutchfield customer from Napa, CA on 12/14/2016
We've had the Denon DP-300F turntable for about 2 weeks now, just in time to listen to all our OLD Christmas records. We were looking for a turntable that would replace our 30+ year old Reference turntable that was no longer working, but still wanted to keep our old Reference Stereo Receiver- This turntable works great with it. Easy set-up but did have to spend a little time getting the balance just right for the tone arm to work correctly. We like the push button in front that works the automatic mechanism to raise and lower the stylus, especially since the turntable is in a book case on the bottom shelf at floor level. Can't say anything about the sound quality, since we just play 40+ year old records and are still using our old speakers, but hey, it works great for us. We like that when the record is finished, the arm automatically picks up and returns like our old player. Couldn't beat the price! The only "CON" we have at the moment is that our old turntable had a dustcover that was hinged in such a way that it would stay open at a partial level (again, under a shelf in our bookcase); this dust cover has to be up all the way to stay open, so we have to prop it up with something to keep it open while changing the record.
Pros: Fully automatic turntable. Easy to set up. Great price.
Cons: Dust cover is either opened all the way or closed. Makes it a bit difficult to add/remove a record when on a shelf with another shelf above it that prevents you from opening it all the way.

The sound of the Denon is plenty good for a semi-audiophile like me; assembly and setup was simple enough; the ability to switch off the preamp is a critical feature; the sale price was attractive. So far, I'm pleased.

Denon DP-300F
Edgar from New York, NY on 12/8/2016
It's getting increasingly difficult to replace automatic turntables; even more difficult to replace quality automatic turntables. After an unpleasant recent experience with another foreign made product, I decided to replace my ailing Yamaha automatic with this Denon. The look and feel is definitely different. The good: very low rumble, nearly undetectable; good cueing control (rare nowadays), anti skating, easy tonearm setup. The bad: the equipped cartridge, a cheap Audio Technica design; no clamp for the tone arm at rest, permanent phono cables which could be improved with better gold plated designs, and no mention whatever in the manual to adjust stylus height, lead in to first track, and other adjustments for smoother operation. I have replaced the cartridge with my original Audio Technica 440MLa, and the sound is superb. I do like the push button operation up front, and now I play records with the cover in place, something I never did before. In sum, it's an excellent turntable for those with a big vinyl collection, but it would be better with a few improvements.

Great Turntable for the money
Steve from Moreland, GA on 12/6/2016
I purchased the Denon Dp-300F a couple of weeks ago and so far so good. I really enjoy it. Setup was smooth and easy. I was also pleasantly surprised how clean the sound was. So far the automatic feature is working great. My one comment, and I think other have said the same thing, with the provided cartridge it lacks some sound dynamics. I am seriously thinking of upgrading to a Sumiko Pearl cartridge.
Pros: Easy setup fairly smooth automatic functionality Good sound and features for the money
Cons: The provided cartridge lacks some on the dynamics side

Excellent turntable for the money
John from Raleigh, NC on 8/10/2016
I have owned many turntables over the past 60 years. This turntable is better than more expensive turntables I have owned. It is easily adjusted and plays flawlessly. The automatic mechanism to raise and lower the stylus is just about perfect in that it does so smoothly and without any sudden movement.
Pros: solid as a rock
Cons: none so far

I'm glad I made this choice. Great Value !
Pros: Easy to set-up and use! Will sound great with any sound system'
Cons: Rather involved when you change the cartridge which was a little to bright. I like my Grado cartridge better. A little too much noise when using the auto function, but hey that's nit-picking!

Super Turntable
Johnny L from Port Saint Lucie, FL on 4/24/2016
After an extensive search I found this turntable with all the features I was looking for. I'm not a big audio enthusiast, just someone who wanted a quality turntable at a good price that I got with this DP-300F. I'm kind of "old school" and I don't need to transfer my albums to my computer, the whole reason I got a turntable is the quality of the sound, which you loose when transferring to digital. I couldn't be more satisfied!
Pros: The auto and manual features; Set-up was a snap, 30 minutes and I was turning albums; Great looking with clean simple lines; Goes perfect with my Denon receiver; Smooth and silent movements; Start - Stop buttons on outside of dust cover; Can't get a better turntable at this price in my opinion.
Cons: Absolutely NONE!

Good Turntable
JC from Waldorf, MD on 4/14/2016
I looked long and hard for good fully automatic turntable. Only two stood out for me. This Denon DP300f model and another one that Crutchfield doesn't carry. The other one was my first choice. A different online retailer offered it through they third party vendors that proclaimed they had it, but didn't. That left the Denon that this other online retailer also had but I went with Crutchfield because I really like Crutchfield. I had to wait for a new shipment to arrive and it was even a few days late from projected arrival but they keep you abreast and had notified me of that fact. This Denon turntable actually better suited me than the other one as it has two features I found more appealing. The Denon has a switchable phono amp option and the other brand doesn't and I like the fact the play and stop buttons are just outside the clear cover on the front. What is lacking is a feature I have in my vintage 80's Pioneer PL-7. Namely a "Repeat"option. Although it still works great it's color (silver with a light gold cast doesn't go with my all black components. The old Pioneer also has quiet push buttons and the Denon doesn't, especially the play button. I also found it strange the Denon lacks a place to put the adapter So I added a little round rubber self adhesive dot to the deck surface that holds it somewhat. I also upgraded the cartridge to a brand not carried by Crutchfield. The Denon cartridge has a conical stylus and those are not as kind to your records as are elliptical.
Pros: Nice finish, great quiet sound. No separate ground needed as it grounds through it's RCA lines.
Cons: Clunky play button. No repeat selection. Lacks ability to set where stylus begins play at beginning of the record even though it seems fine.

Best In Class
Jim E from raleigh, NC on 2/3/2016
This TT fits the bill. It is well constructed and the tone arm assembly is a very nice. The auto start does a nice job of setting the stylus down softly and at the right spot. I like the fact you can change out the head shell and adjust the counterweight and anti-skate. The head shell locks in tight and the tonearm is decent. I have a bunch of older albums from the 70s and they sound really good. I was surprised by the lack of surface noise and clicks. The sound quality is an improvement over my original Technics SLBD22 TT. I have seen a lot of reviews criticizing this stock cartridge, but it looks like a quality cartridge and I think an elliptical stylus would be a smart upgrade once this one gets played out. I have not tried the built in phono amp but that is a nice feature if your receiver doesn't have a phono input. Also, I have seen a lot of reviews criticizing this turntable because it doesn't have a USB for recording onto computers. I have been recording from my non-USB turntable onto my computer for over 10 years so don't let the lack of a USB plug sway you from buying this TT. I think it is the best in class for an automatic TT.
Pros: Well built, Auto start and stop, Sounds great, Built in phono amp
Cons: No strobe with pitch adjustment, Hard wired pin plug cables

Great so far!
Hillery from Georgia on 1/4/2016
Great turntable that I got to replace a 29-year old Kenwood turntable. I wanted a belt-drive turntable and one with automatic return and shutoff. The Denon was the highest reviewed of the tables that offered that. I am happy so far with the sound and the performance. It looks great and plays great. The only thing that I am less than 100% pleased with are the buttons for changing the speed and size of record. The button to push to change the size of the record being played is very tight and feels somewhat 'mechanical' for lack of a better word. I am sure it's because it is throwing some lever underneath so the tone arm will land on either a 33 or 45 sized record. However, with the nice feel of all the other controls, it is a little disappointing.
Pros: Sounds great. Highest rated fully automatic turntable available. Easy to set up.
Cons: Button to push to change record size.

Matt W from Ohio on 12/27/2015
Love the turntable. Like the auto features, I fall asleep sometimes and it comes in handy. Received product with a broken dust cover. Crutchfield sent me a new one immediately. The sound of the turntable is good, I feel that it would benefit from a cartridge upgrade. All in all, I am very pleased with it. Great turntable for the money. Crutchfield service rocks. I will continue to buy products from them.
Pros: Auto features, sleek design, price
Cons: Not really any. Could use better cartridge.

Best Auto/semi-auto TT you can buy
PNS from Georgia on 10/2/2015
First let me say I have two systems, and this one is with a Marantz stereo receiver, Monitor Audio Pedestal Speakers, Vincent cartridge preamp, Klipsch subwoofer, Grado Prestige Green Cartridge, 16 gauge micro strand cables (about $3000 system). This turntable is simply outstanding with the luxury of auto return. No one in their right mind will eject to the record because there was never an industry standard for lead in grooves. With my other system, I have a manual Rega, which requires me to jump up to lift it off the record. You can imagine which system I play when I'm working, but with either one I feel the sound is quite excellent. The Marantz auto TT is really its only competition and it doesn't come close (rebadged Dual TT with a Dual cartridge. Yes they still make TTs in Germany, but mostly for other companies). I will say that if you use the internal preamp with that throw away cartridge, you don't get the real value out of the turntable.
Pros: Auto/semi-auto, excellent construction, top notch arm which is sold on some sites with a $600 cartridge, quiet motor, new belts are easy to buy from places like LPGear and others
Cons: Sorry cartridge from manufacturer and the preamp is cheap at best. You need a good cartridge and preamp (no more than $200) to maximize your music

Scott from Delaware on 8/31/2015
The DP 300F was very easy to set up. Please ensure that the resting surface for the turntable is level in all directions. The overall sound is great and the silence in between tracks far surpasses my old Garrard. The automatic features on this device move the tone arm very smoothly. I'd recommend this to anyone.
Pros: see above
Cons: The Start button makes a relatively loud click (yet the Stop button makes no noise). What's up with that?

good product has room for improvement
Andrew L from New York on 8/11/2015
Great for price point. Needs a place for the 45 adapter. Loud clunk sound when pushing buttons for speed. Wanted an automatic for times when I'm unable to get to it when the record ends. The sound is ok, no need to change the cartridge unless you have the other components to make it worth your while. I have upgraded the rubber mat to a cork and will upgrade to an Ortofon 2M Blue as soon as the headshell comes in. I want both cartridges so I can swap back and forth for some records that are in less than pristine condition.
Pros: price, automatic
Cons:

Tanqueray Ed from Florida on 6/30/2015
Easy set up. Suggested settings worked for me. Made very minor adjustments for tracking and weight after a few test runs. LP's had been boxed since the advent of CD's and are not in the best of condition. They seem to sound better after a couple of plays. Have a very good stereo system and had to do some adjusting to bass and treble levels. Very satisfied with turntable.
Pros: Easy assembly, suggested settings were very good.
Cons: None worth mentioning.

After some fine tuning, sounds phenomimal
Ray H from Prospect Park, Pa on 5/17/2015
Opening the box reveals parts and pieces I've never seen before. This unit is far above the sophistication of the last "record player" I used, and still have, with a picture of "Fonzi" on the front. The directions are pretty straight forward, with the exception of tuning the needle. Very limited detail in instruction for needle tuning and issues with sound quality, possibly for my lack of experience. Took me quite awhile to figure out, first, why the Greatful Dead sounded like chipmunks (didn't have the belt on correctly), then why the sound quality was aweful. For that, it took some trial and error with different albums to rule out the new album being at fault, then played with the weight on arm to remove some of the force on the needle. The directions are very limited and I would go so far as to say, lacking, especially in explaining that end weight adjustment and what your target is as far as tuning. Still not 100% sure on that one. I stopped when what was being played sounded right. Once that was done, unit works flawlessly, looks awesome, and sounds phenomenal on my basic system. I have it running through a Yamaha Aventage mid-grade receiver and 20 year old Polk Audio tower speakers. Very happy with this purchase. Was a gift for my wife, and she loves it. And it is simple enough, that our 6 year old turns it on and now plays my wife's Grateful Dead albums too.
Pros: Simple operation, appearance, Sound quality, cost
Cons: Set up instructions lack detail for needle/vs end weight tuning.

Well-packaged; easy to set-up; looks nice; runs well. Operation of the push-buttons is somewhat "clunky," but the automatic mechanism is smooth enough. Speed and electrical issues
howard from Michigan on 3/21/2015
Didn't use this unit much the first 2 months (which is the warranty time for Crutchfield). After starting to play it more, the speed started to fluctuate and on 3 occasions the motor just stopped under power. Sent it to Crutchfield's repair center. They seem like a class act. They notified me the motor is defective and it is on order with no ETA on when the unit will be returned to me. Word on the street is that this motor issue is a common problem and motors are back ordered by repair centers. I like the fit and finish of this unit and the sound, but, obviously not the dependability. I will update this review as I get more information. For now it gets a solid 1 star.
Pros: Fit and finish. Sound is good. Pretty unit.
Cons: Mass issues with motors.

Got some advice from Crutchfield's Dean and picked out the DP-300F. Works great. Out of the box, it took about 45min to set up. The old vinyl collection sounds good again. Definitely happy with this turntable.
Pros: Decent price. Great for the average record enthusiast.
Cons: Dust cover is a little iffy, but it's ok for normal use.

So far, so good. Setup?
Kevin from Texas on 3/5/2015
I'm good with this turntable. The sound quality out of the box is good, stereo separation fine, the automatic system works well, it looks good, operates effectively at a working mans price. My issue came during setup. I tried to follow the tone arm balancing procedure. I must not get it. I tried to 'balance' the tone arm so the needle was parallel to or slightly below the record as instructed. Done. Would not play. Not enough downward pressure. Added more pressure by adjusting the counter weight inward.. Barely played. Skipped like a schoolgirl in a play yard. More pressure. Played but skipped a time or two over the course of four or five LP sides.. Finally, adjusted even more pressure. Jeez. Am I doing this right? Works like a champ. No skipping. I do not have any distortion at any volume level.
Pros: Seems like a good unit at an affordable price. Good sound quality out of the box. Good delivery and service from Crutchfield. It's automatic.
Cons: I just don't get the tone arm balancing instructions. They did not work for me. I had to add considerably more downward pressure than was recommended but having done so, it works like a farmer in the spring and fall.

Great Entry-Level Turntable
MGB from Massachusetts on 2/16/2015
Put simply, I was looking for an entry-level turntable that is fully automatic and won't damage my records. The Denon DP-300F has exceeded all of my expectations. The build quality is great and it was a snap to setup. Though unlikely to please the audiophile, it sounds great on my system, and the built-in pre-amp is an added bonus for those on a budget. You can find turntables in this price range that sound a bit better, but they won't be fully automatic. I'm confident that I'll continue to enjoy this turntable over the coming years by gradually upgrading components (better cartridge, better pre-amp, etc).
Pros: fully-automatic, built-in pre-amp, looks sleek
Cons: The cartridge isn't great and will be the first thing that needs upgrading.

Denon dp300f
Cisco from Washington on 2/7/2015
If you are going to do anything other than sit and critically listen to vinyl, this is your ticket to paradise if you want a budget automatic. Yes, the cover feels cheap, the buttons clunky, and the automatic mechanism is not exactly Swiss watch caliber. However, that doesn't matter after the arm drops nicely onto your record and picks up just as well when it's finished. The parts that move and transmit sound are more isolated than I thought they would be. Surprisingly so, actually. The automatic function will never quit in your lifetime if it works the first few times and you clean and re-lube the mechanism every decade or two. I play the horse poop out of mine and still going strong. You will need to buy an upgraded cartridge if you want quality sound. I already had an AT120E which I really like so this was a no brainer. If you want an Ortofon Red you should buy the upgraded package deal. Any other combination and the choice is up to you.
Pros: It's an automatic.
Cons: None unless you care about the plastic cover.

Dave from Pennsylvania on 1/18/2015
Purchased as an entry level turntable as a gift. Unit worked fine until the 3rd session with it when the music started to drag and distort. Changed out LPS, AMP to troubleshoot and it came back to the turntable. Also ensured that the equalizer switch was set to 0 as this was connected to a phono input. Seems fairly well but unsure how it would have performed in the long run.
Pros: Easy to set up. OK sound.
Cons: Poor quality out of the box.

Denon DP-300F
Joe from Baltimore, MD on 1/12/2015
I bought this unit almost a year ago. I had it hooked up to new pair of B/W S2s through a Project and Cambridge Audio phone pre amp. I always thought it sounded a bit muddy, so this weekend I decided to swap it with my Music Hall table that I bought in the spring (of course all from Crutchfield !). Hate to say it, but the Music Hall blows it away. I cannot believe the difference. Night and Day. Music Hall is crystal clear. I moved this table down in the basement hooked up to Bose 901s. It sounds good, but I really do need to check it out again. Maybe it's the needle, I don't know. However, not to thrilled with it. That's just me though. The difference though was huge.
Pros: Easy to set up. Basic TT with the functions of an old TT
Cons: Sounds muddy. Not crystal clear like the Music Hall I bought that was cheaper.

Good buy
VT Dad from Jericho, VT on 12/4/2014
I purchased this unit as a gift, but I set it up and checked it out before wrapping. I found it performed admirably both with music and a Stereo Review test record. I was quite impressed at how low the rumble was. Other reviewers have pretty much covered it, but several complained about the rubber "feet". These "feet" are actually vibration isolators, and pretty good ones at that. It is important to ensure that the turntable is resting on the isolators, not on the cheesy plastic faux feet. Otherwise, you will get accoustic feedback when you crank the volume, as one reviewrer complained.
Pros: The built-in preamp permits the use of longer cables when the truntable cannot be close to your amp. The equalization seemed good.
Cons: The output level of the preamp is lower than expected, but most amps probably have enough gain to still deliver full power.

The Denon DP-300F Turntable
BryantM from Weeki Wachee, FL on 10/22/2014
I shopped other less expensive turntables before deciding on the Denon DP-300F. I feel that it is definitely a step up from some of the entry level turntables which cost only slightly less. While I make no claim to being an audiophile, this unit with the factory supplied cartridge provides all the fidelity of sound that I expected and more. Most of my LP collection was acquired back during the days of console unit "record players", which means that many of the albums were "rode hard and put up wet". Nevertheless, these well used albums sound great on the Denon turntable and I feel that this turntable is ideally placed between the entry level and the more serious audiophile models available. I gave a five star rating only because there was not a 4.5 rating available. When I unpacked and assembled the turntable following the included instructions, the setup for balancing the tone arm simply wasn't working. The lift mechanism was stuck at full height and would not allow the tone arm to balance freely. I eventually determined that the small screw visible on the top of the lift mechanism was backed out too far. Lacking any reference in the instructions, I tightened the screw all the way down and thought I had solved the problem. However, at the end of play of the first album, the needle "ripped" all the way across the record on its way to the resting position. Okay, the tone arm was not lifting high enough,.. adjusted the little screw and all is well.
Pros: Fully automatic operation. Well made and stylish. Simplicity of setup and operation. Easily replaceable cartridges & easy to upgrade. Heavy enough to sit solidly and resist cabinet vibrations.
Cons: As stated above, the instruction manual should note the need to adjust the tone arm lift mechanism travel height.

GBATL from Atlanta, GA on 10/16/2014
As far as turntables go, the DP-300F is a fantastic value. Quality components, and a durable construction make this a go-to choice whenever I'm suggesting/purchasing a turntable for a friend, family member, or place of business. Beyond that, for budding audiophiles, one can simply upgrade the cartridge and take this already great workhorse player to a whole new level. Unless something drastic changes in the turntable market, the DP-300F will continue to be my choice for the everyday turntable!
Pros: Solid construction Great out-of-box cartridge Easily assembled and calibrated Quality producer
Cons: A/C cable is a touch short

Excellent turntable for the price! The cartridge is less than spectacular but at this price who am to quibble. I have already purchased a better cartridge and installed it and the sound quality is much improved. I really like the full-auto function. My other turntable has an $800 cartridge. Yes, the MusicHall sounds better but at 4x the cost.
Pros: Price, full-auto function
Cons: At this price? None.

Nice turntable
mick from Florida on 2/26/2014
I was in the market for a turntable and wanted a fully automatic as my tremors would prove disastrous for both a tone arm and record if I had to play them manually. This Denon is a smooth, quiet, nice looking turntable and is easy to set up and I even installed a cartridge upgrade myself with a Sumiko Pearl which I ordered with the turntable from here. It's a great performer and the price is very reasonable....Denon has been making record players for over a hundred years....they got it right.
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Perhaps a speed control with strobe?

KennyB from Oakland, CA on 1/11/2014
Great buy overall. My only suggestion would be that they recommend bundling this with an anti static gun (or other solution). I was a newbie to vinyl players and wasn't aware that the pops and clicks could be somewhat taken away with some anti-static solution. I would recommend selling these at cost for add-on purchases. This way first time LP player customers would be ready to go with this out of the box.

Mike from Las Cruces, NM on 10/15/2012
Good looking piece of equipment. Easy set-up. That being said, a stylus force gauge is a must. The buttons and cue arm have a smooth feel and work well. I replaced the stock cartridge with an Oyster Black Pearl and got the warmer sound I was after. The auto feature works well, but I usually use the cue arm so I can clean the LP. It's nice to have the option. I only gave it a 4 star, because I know there are better turntables out there. But, let's be frank, a person could spend hundreds of dollars more and never hear a difference. This is a great buy.
Pros: Easy set-up. Good looking. Easy to operate. Works great.
Cons: I'm not sure if this a "con", but the stock cartridge is a bit focused toward the high end for me. Depends on what works for you.

Denon DP-300F, What a pleasant surprise!
DS from Puerto Rico on 2/19/2012
I purchased this unit for a beach home to avoid having to run from the comfort of my swing chair at the terrace to the living room every time an LP finished. I was pleasantly surprised to find this turntable delivers sound that is above its price point and with the convenience of automatic shut off. I replaced the factory cartridge with a Denon DL103R, replaced the rubber footers with adjustable bronze spikes and using an external phono preamplifier. The output from the preamp is connected to the auxiliary imput of a Zeppelin Air, which is also a great product, and there it is, a simple unobtrusive system for the second home that sounds and feels right. I am using and enjoying this setup more than a true HiFi system I originally had installed in the same area and worth nearly $9k. Not to say that this one is as accurate and true to the music as the other, but if I am not doing critical listenning, I don't miss the more expensive one. Anyway, at the end is about enjoying the music, and this system has done it for me. In addition, anyone can use it since there is significantly less money at risk and very simple to use.
Pros: Good value for the money. Good response with more expensive cartridges.
Cons: Change the rubber footers.
