Excellent value, great quality.
Ryan from Cullowhee, NC on 2/20/2023
This was my first foray into the world of mid-tier turntables, and I must say I'm impressed. I spent months researching and reading every bit of material I could get my hands on, and finally settled on the AT-LPW40WN. Compared to other units in this category, the LPW40 has features that the other brands consider an upgrade. The carbon fiber tone arm, speed selector, adjustable feet, and heck - even the dust cover, are up-charges on some of the other models in this price range. I would not hesitate to buy this model again and again. It looks great and it sounds even better!
Pros: Carbon fiber tone arm. Adjustable (and dampening) feet. Easy, easy, easy set up. Speed selector switch. Really get a lot for what you pay. Looks great and sounds even better.
Cons: None that I have been able to find.

Looks and Sounds good
Ben from BEDFORD, MA on 12/21/2022
I got this as my first LP player since I was a child. I don't have many LPs, I have far more CDs. The Assembly was pretty straightforward. It is important to download the detailed instructions on tone arm setup though. I have good grounding in my house, I used the ground hookup and have no hum issues. I am happy with the sound. I do have an external phono amp in my system and it sounds obviously better than the one in the turntable so am using that. I find this TT to be fairly resistant to feedback and vibration in the room. If I close the lid hard you can hear that, otherwise it is not susceptible. My TT came out of the box basically perfectly leveled. I think it's a good looking classy unit. My main take away is this is a fine TT. Any negatives have to do with annoyances with the actual LPs themselves, mostly new ones are dirty. The dust cover is a negative. I am leaving it on since dust is so annoying, but all you have to do is look at it and a scratch appears. Mine has scratches after less than a week and trying to be careful, which is disappointing.
Pros: Easy assembly & setup Good performance Good looks
Cons: Built in pre-amp is ho-hum Dust cover is fragile

Sleek with Excellent Sound
Richard from South Bristol, ME on 7/11/2022
This turntable has outperformed my expectations! It is sleek and very attractive, and slightly smaller than other models so it is able to easily sit on a bookshelf in my home. It is very easy to set up. I am pushing the sound through Edifier speakers and it has sounded incredible! Our records play seamlessly!
Pros: Easy to set up Very attractive Lightweight and compact Sleek Very good performance

Excellent LP Player
Eric from Denver, CO on 1/13/2022
This is an aesthetically pleasing turntable that has superb sound with the VM-95E cartridge. I've been spinning this thing for several hours now, and I love its warmth, clarity, and full, rich sound reproduction of my LPs with a very reliable belt-drive assembly. I'm replacing the LP-60 also by Audio-Technica, which I ran for six years. I played that thing to death, and I needed a new table. I went with the LPW40 for it's wood plinth, carbon tone-arm, and upgrade capable head shell housing. I've never seen a $350.00 turntable have a carbon tone-arm, and with the cartridge offered, I had to pull the trigger and get this thing. I'd buy it again as well. My amp is a Denon PMA-600NE, and it's a match made in heaven pushing some 6 ohm stand mount JBL speakers. I recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy their vinyl collection to the max and get lost in the music for many hours at a time. This is precision equipment meant for immersive listening.
Pros: Classy looks, carbon tone-arm, nice cartridge, upgrade capable, built-in preamp (if needed), adjustable feet, sturdy construction...
Cons: None.

Excellent mid-range turntable
Crutchfield customer from Mc Donald, PA on 4/28/2021
Very please with this model and the purchase price. For a "mid-level" turntable, the look is fantastic and has many of the same features the high-level TTs possess. The setup was not difficult and the YouTube video was great.

Very Happy!
Crutchfield customer from Somerville, MA on 3/9/2021
I am loving this turn table. I did a lot of research to find a turn table that was right for me (thank you audiophiles of the internet) and decided this was the one for me! Great sound quality and great aesthetic were my priorities as I plan to have this for several decades! Somehow Crutchfield still had stock of this turntable (sold out on many websites including audio technica's) and I was able to get it in just a few days after purchase!

Sounds as good as it looks.
Crutchfield customer from Clarksburg, WV on 12/5/2020
I wanted this TT when I first saw it advertised. It looks great with the wooden plinth, the black tonearm mechanism, and black lettering. I also liked its simplicity. So, I bought it, but I was not sure if it would be an improvement over my AT LP 120xusb. I did do with the thought if it's not an improvement I'll send it back. But, it was a nice improvement. It provides a better sound; Nicer highs and fuller lows. It brings more overall brilliance to the music. And since it comes with the ATVM95E you'll have several stylus upgrades. I played several different LPs that I use to test records. The 40 breezed through all the different music I threw it's way. I have a few problems. I comes with a very limited manual. Not a problem if one has some experience, but I can see a newbie getting very confused. And, hinges were so taunt that they were very difficult to attach to the dust cover. It seems there must be a better way. But those are minor issues. This is a very nice turntable. It's nice to look at and sounds great.
Pros: Looks, simplicity, sounds good.
Cons: Needs better manual, and easier to attach hinges.

Sounds good, stylish
Crutchfield customer from Carmel, CA on 6/28/2020
Most importantly, this turn table sounds great. I have it plugged in to an old Kenwood receiver and some old Infiniti bookshelf speakers. Makes vinyl that sounded "OK" on my own turntable sound twice as good. Secondly, the wood grain looks great in my living room and complements the laid-back, modern style that my wife is going for.

I seriously wanted to like this but...
Guest from Findlay, OH on 6/9/2020
I seriously wanted to like this turntable! I ordered one of these and was initially impressed by it's looks, nice tonearm, and decent sound. After about 5 albums plays the speed became unstable and the motor was running loud. I checked the belt to make sure it was still properly in place and it was. I turned the table off and then tried it again. Loud motor and inconsistant speed. After a few trys the speed selector switch stopped working and the platter would not turn on. I sent it back and received another one a few weeks later. The second unit exhibited the same trouble only it took a little longer for it to develop. I believe the platter is way too light and the motor is too weak to make this a stable playing turntable. Just to clarify, I ordered this directly from Audio-Technica so it was, in no way, Crutchfield's fault. I did, however, come to Crutchfield and purchased the Music Hall 2.3 Special. It has been absolutely fantastic! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS TURNTABLE!! It is not the usual AT quality and is not manufactured by AT. I hope this saves you some frustration.
Pros: Nice appearance, decent tonearm and cartridge
Cons: Very inconsistant speed, unexceptable wow and flutter. Weak motor and cheap, lightweight, platter.
