The interface is ok with CarPlay. Has to be plugged in via usb to really perform and for the sound quality to be present. Bluetooth signal is weak. I do not like how there are adverts in sleep mode but maybe there is a way to turn those off.

Pros: Sound quality

Cons: Interface is not clean. Adverts.

Install was made easy by the crutchfield team. The radio along with the added interface adds engine performance and other vehicle information to the screen. The tuner is excellent and we absolutely love the android auto features.

Pros: Very easy to use once installed

Cons: Install takes awhile, but is easier with the instructions provided.

Sounds great. Much better than the wireless carplay/ android auto sjoybring I got on Amazon. Connected everything to the maestro harnesses for my car, and good to go. No need to adjust the eq. Sound was clear, punchy. Worth losing wireless android auto for actual working steering wheel controls. But that's what isb adapters are for. Not a whole lot of maestro features as far as vehicle information for my car though.

Pros: Maestro, sound was amazing even out of the box, with the suggested kits it was an easy install.

Cons: Maybe doable, maybe not, still only singe usb port in the back. I would love to see at least 2 being standard. First I wanted to plug the adaptor in the back and it be forever hidden. But I decided to remove again and just hook up the cable to utilize the factory console port.

Transformed my old truck into a pleasurable driving experience. My goal was to have a remote microphone for hands free calling and its touchscreen answering as well as a large viewer for backup camera. The JCV unit I purchased has satisfied my car radio needs

Pros: Remote microphone backup camera and large touchscreen

Cons: Boot up upon turning the key takes a few seconds.

Static issues

Maurice from BRENTWOOD, TN on 3/17/2025

2008 GMC Envoy

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

JVC has an issue with Static with the wired CarPlay and Feedback noise when the back up camera comes on. Had many Chats with Crutchfield and JVC and issue has not been resolved. I missed the window to return the unit and the only resolution from JVC was to sent it in for testing. We don't have this issue with Kenwood or other head units with similar set ups. The radio is fine otherwise but we are at the point that I need to replace this set up as the noise issue is something we can live with.

Pros: Radio is nice

Cons: Wired CarPlay static noise

Buggy and unreliable

Verified employee review (What's this?)

The head unit worked flawlessly for the first six months and has decent sound. Recently though, it's been buggy and will reset during travel when I'm in CarPlay, and on a few occasions the screen will go completely black and no response from the unit whatsoever. At that point, I have to pull over and restart the car to reset the unit if I'm using something like Waze. I also agree with the other reviewers who said the startup speed is slow, takes about 20 seconds to load, with a super-annoying backup camera warning at the top of the screen that JVC should really reconsider-makes it very difficult to see cars behind you. I don't recommend this unit.

Next best thing to a volume knob

Justin from Spokane, WA on 2/16/2025

2004 Hummer H2

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

The highlights of this stereo for me are.. - crisp sound - high volume - high quality feeling touch screen that's very responsive - a volume knob was important to me but in my price range the other stereos just didnt check all of the boxes for me. I did know this stereo had this feature -SPIN YOUR FINGER IN A CIRCULAR MOTION ON THE TOUCH SCREEN TO QUICKLY TURN VOLUME UP OR DOWN. This is such a great idea and it works excellently. It's way faster than holding my steering wheel controls up or down and also faster than the dedicated volume up and down buttons on the screen. I've never owned a jvc but they have earned my respect when it comes to price quality and ingenuity.

Pros: Volume knob feature

Cons: Cannot flip my front camera around in the camera options menu

Not so good

Owen from Oxford, ME on 2/13/2025

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I ordered this stereo as a replacement for a failed JBL system in a 2011 Prius with JBL e7022. Overall the stereo did work but no matter how I adjusted it I couldn't get it to sound good with the stock speakers. The android auto works with a usb you must plug into your phone, it messed with my maps location when attached and bounced from my home and current location so unusable in my opinion. My rear camera was inoperative because the harness that I ordered along with this unit didn't have the right plug for my vehicle camera but the techs assured me it was the right one. The phone Bluetooth connected well but the people on the other end said they couldn't hear me well and when I tried to move the supplied mic up they said their voice was echoing in their ear. The display was too bright at night without the ability to dim it down and the touch screen was a fingerprint magnet. Overall I was very dissatisfied with the entire setup, returned it and got a used JBL out of the scrap yard. I have to say Crutchfield has an amazing and simple return process and sent me a return label without any complaints. I did have to pay a small $13 return shipping fee that I believe is more than reasonable. While the stereo wasn't for me, the customer service is great with this company.

Pros: Customer service

Cons: USB connection, map issue, rear camera issue, Bluetooth sound, display too bright, fingerprints

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I purchased this headunit based on Crutchfield tech recommendation. Installation was fairly easy, although I took my time with it. The stereo sounds great and is packed full of features. The issue with this stereo is the memory setup. It remembers some features, such as EQ settings and crossovers, but reverts back to demo mode, forgets time zone, forgets clock settings. It gets really annoying to switch time zones and get out of demo mode every time you enter the car. Crutchfield was kind enough to allow me to return the stereo. I even called JVC and they did trouble shooting. The head unit is just a lemon. Hours and hours of install wasted to just do it again with another headunit.

Pros: Sound, features, screen

Cons: Software and memory

Takes too long, almost a minute, to connect to your phone via Bluetooth when starting your car. The interface is very clunky and hard to navigate. When you unplug your phone from the usb cable for CarPlay, it doesn't connect back to the Bluetooth automatically. Such a pain to manually find your phone to reconnect via the clunky interface. Not recommended.

Installed this in my wife's 2010 Mazda CX9. She loves that she gets Apple Carplay now even though it's not wireless. I like that it looks good and works great. I don't get to play with it much but it seems like it has plenty of features and adjustablility. I do like it more than a lot of the $400+ head units and I like that we retained a lot of the factory features like the backup camera and steering wheel controls.

Pros: Carplay Sleek and clean display Easy to get started and to use

Cons: Not wireless carplay Wish it was a bit larger

Works great. CarPlay is necessary nowadays and this supports it well, including separate volume for entertainment and directions. The graphics on the unit itself are, typical for these kinds of head units, rather hokey.

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

Installed this to replace my existing aftermarket unit in my 2014 Crosstrek. Was pretty straightforward install, for those who have existing maestro sw steering wheel module that originally used the 3.5mm jack, use the blue and yellow wire in that jacket by itself to this JVC unit. The reason for 4 stars is about how the android auto is just a little quirky, freezes at times switching from other inputs but frees up after voice command. Not sure if it's the phone or the radio, tried multiple cables so not sure. Overall ,would I buy it again, in this price range, yes.If your out to spend a lot more money, maybe look at something else.

Pros: Easy install, user interface, sound quality for the average person

Cons: Quirks of android auto

I upgraded my factory radio because it became possessed and changed stations at will. It's been quite a few years (70's and 80's) since I swapped radios in a vehicle. I purchased all the adapters because I didn't feel like soldering the wires. The install directions we very good and my new radio has features my old one didn't have, like using google maps via my cell phone, and some gauges as well. Great purchase experience, customer service from Crutchfield was extremely helpful in assisting me in spec'ing the package. Shipping and delivery was as promised. The JVC KW-M780BT has great sound, a much needed improvement from my lowest of the low factory system. I do have moderately upgraded speakers in the soundbar. I use the FM, Sirius Satellite Radio, Apple Carplay, both wired and BT phone and USB. Install was easy, slight trimming of the factory radio housing was needed, used a Dremel to remove 1/16". I bought the Crutchfield wiring harness, which I thoroughly recommend, this makes wiring a snap. Apple Carplay hooks up straight away and as long as the roof is up the phone quality is great. My Jeep is about as basic as they come, so the USB in the console has no connection to the factory radio. This means to make a tidy install the JVC KW-M780BT USB port cable needs to be connected to a USB socket, which I bought on Amazon and fitted into the hole where the trash bag hook is located next to the heat/AC controls.

Pros: Great sound, with lots of customizable features Easy install, thanks to Crutchfield Great support during purchase

Cons: Minor trim on the dash slot needed, but not a real con

You will most likely need the datalink package, be prepared to drill some holes for microphone, gps and wired USB install. Get an HDMI cord before you start so you can have that ready to route with your USB cord to access full video features with Apple phone as needed. If you get the data link maestro you will need you radio serial number to flash the new module and yes you will have to flash it on a laptop/computer. The crutchfield directions help some so start there, then use the radio install guide to help but if you get the datalink then those instructions are step by step, not everything will be plugged in and the colors may not look right but trust the process. As always do an operational check before you stuff everything into your dash. Using the radio is seamless and easy to use, you can now plug your phone in put of the sun and operate everything with your radio to include calls. The lack of a volume knob is something to get used to but not terrible, the set up options and settings are nice to include look angle and dimming features. Overall very happy with it, i found with my install i have to take my dash apart some but not too bad, just plan out any holes you drill to include plug size/ length for routing. With full package all steering controls work great, you can even customize them when you flash your datalink. 2014 Town and country.

Pros: Factory integration for steering controls.

Cons: Can become complicated

When using Android Auto, the music would stutter several times within the course of a single song. I tried 3 different phones and 5 different cables. All combinations had the same stuttering. Bluetooth audio played back fine. The same phones played back fine on my wife's factory Android Auto system in her Jeep. I exchanged the unit for another of the same model, and it did the same thing. I replaced it with a Boss BV800ACP and that unit plays Android Auto music fine with my phone (but it has audio quality problems with bluetooth so I'm still searching for a stereo that works). This stereo has some nice features. Unfortunately it failed in its primary mission, which is to play music.

Pros: There are some, but none that overcome the cons.

Cons: Android Auto music playback stutters.

Works fine but don't love it

Justin from Minnesota on 4/8/2024

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I use this only for SiriusXM, CarPlay and the iDatalink feature, don't care about much else so my experience focuses on those options. CarPlay works as it should. The SXM layout is so cluttered yet lacks any clear information. It looks dated. The saved channel selection is in groups of five along the right edge, with a total of four "pages", so 20 total spots to save your favs. These five fav buttons per screen do not list the station name, only the channel number. There is a slide out tray from those buttons that will expand and show the station names but it covers half the screen. Oddly, using the on-screen Channel UP button goes down the list and Channel DOWN goes up the list. Aside from that, I find it way too bright at night. Even with the brightness set to its maximum -15, it's still too bright at night. It is a fingerprint magnet, wow! I purchased the scratch-n-dent unit. While I am happy with the price paid and am not knocking this transaction for it but I wish Crutchfield would list, even vaguely, what damage a unit has. Other reviews glowed about the scratch and dent options on other items so I felt comfortable going that route. Mine had a couple pretty noticeable gouges/scratches in the screen & the unit hadn't been reset from the previous buyer/install, all their settings and bluetooth connections were still set up. With the screen gouges, the anti-fingerprint overlay I put on magnifies those defects. I don't think I'd go the scratch-n-dent route nex

Pros: Inexpensive. Works as promised. iDatalink connection.

Cons: Dated UI. XM screen is cluttered. Limited brightness options at night. Randomly sluggish responses.

Great Sound & Features That Won't Break the Bank

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

I am really happy with my new JVC tuner, it looks and sounds great. My original factory CD/Radio had none of the newer features that I wanted, this JVC delivers. The 13 band equalizer, plus many other audio adjustments make the music sound amazing. Android Auto and Phone Mirroring, Back Up Camera and more. How they fit all of this sound and technology into such a small package (short chassis) is mind blowing. For the price, this model can't be beat as far as I'm concerned.

Pros: Android Auto / Apple Car Play compatible, Nice Touch Screen/Display, Compact Size, Great Sound, Value for the price.

Cons: If anything, I would have liked the Android Auto to integrate via Bluetooth.

I returned this radio. The interface was slow and buggy. Even with the wire connection for AndroidAuto, Waze would take several minutes to find a gps signal and required disconnecting phone to search or enter new destinations. After one day, the backup camera cut out entirely. I exchanged for another brand and have been very happy with it.

Pros:

Cons: -Slow -non-responsive touchscreen -unreliable camera connection

2003 Tundra Stereo Replacement with Backup Camera Installation

Richard from Fort Worth, TX on 3/3/2024

2003 Toyota Tundra

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

My 2003 Tundra lacked a backup camera, a feature that I often wished for. I ordered this JVC stereo unit because it offered the option of connecting a backup camera and because it had a large display similar to what I've seen in new vehicles. It arrived promptly with the required cables, hardware and links to the instruction manuals in pdf format. The instructions were a bit overwhelming. I realized after proceeding with installation that much of the instruction provided apparently wasn't relevant if you had purchased the cable made for your vehicle. Actually, it was mostly a matter of removing the old unit and plugging the cables into the new unit and the associated connectors. I had to remove the driver's seat to route the camera cable to the outside under the truck, but that was simple--remove four bolts. The Crutchfield tech support folks are great. They were very patient and answered my questions to my satisfaction. I talked to them briefly a total of three times to clarify that I was splicing to the proper wires for the parking brake and the reverse light to power the camera. I was delighted when everything worked properly the first time I tested it. Again, the great technical support by the Crutchfield techs makes all the difference.

Pros: Great fit in dash. Looks as good as a factory install. Functions flawlessly. All the needed hardware bits and pieces were included.

Cons: Instructions were a bit confusing. Perhaps could have been simplified to distinguish using the purchased cable as opposed to splicing wires into existing connectors.

Great Head Unit

Great head unit. It does everything I need and then some, only real negative is when backing up the caution takes up a large portion of the screen and has to be touched to go away. The kit I got came with the Metra dash kit and I would not recommend it. It doesn't really fit this head unit and it has weak plastic brackets that don't hold it in place very well. I used the factory ones untill my Scoche dash kit comes in. Otherwise it is a great experience all around.

Pros: Great head unit does everything I need and then some.

Cons: Metra dash kit leave much to be desired.

Installation instructions weren't the greatest, but having the simple harness and talking to support on the phone made it easier. After the install, the backup camera didn't work, the connector that was provided had the wires 2 pins away from where the factory harness was plugged in, after fixing that everything seems to work perfectly, sound is amazing and android auto works so smoothly.

Pros: Simple harness

Cons: Had to repin a connector to work, also did not know that Maestro module was needed for everything to work

Excellent sound with a bright screen

Andrew from Hermitage, TN on 2/15/2024

2013 Nissan Xterra

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

The sound quality and DSP capabilities of this unit are excellent. The CarPlay is very responsive, but the rest of the user interface feels a little sluggish by comparison. My front speakers are 6x9 components with 6x9 in the door and tweeter on the dash of my 2013 Nissan Xterra. The tweeters on my aftermarket speakers were oppressive out of the box with the factory head unit. The Speaker Set Up on the JVC/Kenwood units gives you a variable (based on small, medium, large tweeter selection) high-shelf EQ control for the tweeter "gain" on the crossover. The new speakers sound beautiful now. The Metra mounting kit that was provided partially crops my view of the keys and makes it a little difficult to touch the keys. Not the best fit with the lines of the dash as the trim ring protrudes from my dash about 1.5MM. The biggest issue I have and my reason for docking a star is with the screen brightness at night. The location high in my dash and largely in my field of view may be a contributing factor for me. It's too bright with dimmer on and brightness down all the way. I drive with my headlights on, so the screen is always dimmed for "night mode" and I can see it just fine with my sunglasses on. The JVC has a "Display Off" feature that turns the display to video black and shows a clock, but keeps the backlight cranking out blue light. It bothers my eyes at night to the point I may upgrade to the Kenwood DMX7909s just to get a true "Display Off" f

Pros: DSP Controls Tweeter Gains/Crossover controls Audio Quality Media/phone navigation is very responsive using CarPlay.

Cons: Screen is too bright for me at night Needs a true "Display Off" feature or more substantial screen backlight dimming capability for night time use. Navigating media/contacts via Bluetooth is a little clunky and slow.

I like the Radio, very nice looking and functional. The Install kit is more expense at Crutchfield than other places but did work well. If your are looking for support during the install, good luck. I chatted with a person and they sent me a video that looked good but in the end didn't apply to my F150. I also talked to 2 more people on the phone and the first answered my questions but didn't seem to interested in helping. The second flat out gave the wrong answer, which I figured out an hour later. I then called the salesmen that sold me the unit and left him a message to please call me or have a Tech call to help me solve my problem but did not receive a call back.

Pros: Very nice JVC Unit.

Cons: Installation maybe a little difficult.

I bought one of these for my 2009 Subaru Forester and I love it. I loved it enough to purchase a second one for my 2008 Toyota Prius. Android Auto works great with My Pixel 6a. Hands-free calling sounds good, as well as dictating and transcribing messages on the go. I'd considered the M788BT as well, as it has HR Radio, however I've never had HD radio and traditional FM meets my needs. With the online options available using Android Auto, HD Radio fit into "nice to have, but not necessary for my needs"

Pros: Android Auto works great! Hands-free features work seamlessly.

Cons: No HD Radio

Easy to setup, and excellent budget Android Auto/Apple Carplay head unit for someone looking to upgrade other parts of their system.Decent boot time, and reliable connection to my phone for use as Navigation and Streaming Music.

Pros: 4v output for someone looking to add an amplifier to their system. Screen is responsive and decently bright.

Cons: Compatible remote is sold separately. Remote is kind of a must if you want to avoid excessive fingerprints, but lack steering wheel controls. A volume knob would have been nice. No setting to automatically turn volume down at startup. Volume controls are unavailable until unit's source is done loading, so by the time Android Auto has initialized, it'll immediately start playing music at the last volume you had the unit at unless you tell Android Auto not to auto play music.

Android auto constantly disconnects

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I bought this specifically for android auto. Literally every time I use android auto, it randomly disconnects (every 5 to 20 min) with my phone. The wired connection is secure, I've tested it just sitting still and it disconnected. The diconnecting process stops all apps including maps, and is slow to reconnect once you reinstall the USB c. I've searched and searched online and tried a number of things, even buying different cords. Bluetooth with an unwired connection works as expected, but pretty frustrated that I could have bought a stereo half its cost to get the same functionality. Also, if you have a nissan frontier (as I do) you might experience the same thing I did... my airbag light blinks now. Talked to customer service and they offered an option but it didn't work. Decent

Verified employee review (What's this?)

Had some quirks updating software, but is okay now. CarPlay working without glitches. Sound is better than factory head unit. Idatalink wasn't really all that useful.none of the OBD functions work on the car, installed aftermarket camera that couldn't be used with the idata unit, and wouldn't auto-switch to camera view in reverse. Ended up hardwiring the trigger wire anyway. Steering wheel controls were retained, but not as functional, such as holding volume up to increase volume.you have to keep hitting volume up. For station seeking, you have to hit a button on the head unit first. Fairly recessed with the Metra trim that makes the buttons a little awkward in my install in a 2012 Outback. Overall decent for a budget CarPlay upgrade which is why I changed out the headunit to begin with. I may end up using this in a different car.

Pros: CarPlay, good sound

Cons: A bit quirky with some basic functions

Back Up Warning! Do Not Buy!

DO NOT BUY!!! If you are going to use the back up camera on this stereo, I would choose another stereo. Every time you put your vehicle in reverse you will get a large message on the screen " Check surroundings before backing up" that you have to touch to remove. It blocks a large amount of the screen and makes the camera almost useless unless you touch to remove it. There is no way to disable it that I have found. If I had known this I would not have purchased it. Too much of a hassle to remove and return but I though I would warn anyone else.

Perfect replacement

Duane from Millsboro, DE on 8/10/2023

Verified employee review (What's this?)

Great stereo. Brings my speakers to life. It has a lot of adjustability and the best part, Apple CarPlay. Had a Sony which I loved and transferred to my wife's Honda when her Pioneer stopped working, but this JVC is a great replacement. Crystal clear screen that does get washed out a little by bright light, but it does everything else perfectly. Not having a volume knob take a little to get used especially when you don't have steering wheel controls as my old 4Runner does not. Also, for the money, it has lots of high-end features. If you are looking for a good stereo on the cheap, this is it or a Sony.

Pros: Features, screen, Apple CarPlay, price

Cons: No volume knob, does get washed out a little by bright light

Had been researching a head unit replacement for my 2014 Ford and it wasn't until I found Crutchfield that it became simpler. Instructions and tech support made the install easy and it only took a few hours total.

Pros: - Ready kit with pre-wired harness remove the challenge for most people - Everything fit perfectly - Tech support is the best I've seen in 35 years of buying consumer items - Saved a lot of money on install based off quotes I received

Cons: - Wiring didn't match the target vehicle exactly, but they quickly walked me through it

Excellent in-dash unit. Fast interface without a lag. Added the backup camera for a complete factory like install. Installed easy with the pre-made ReadyHarness. This is a must buy. Instructions were very good except for the reverse wire and the parking brake connections. The reverse wire instructions said to connect to white wire going to the rear of the vehicle located in the drivers kick panel. There are actually 4 white wires. Needed a volt meter to find the correct one using instructions we found on the internet. This involved removing the door sill plate and piercing each white wire to find the correct voltage while the car is in reverse.

Pros: Fast interface. Lots of options to customization. Easy to install with it's smaller depth size. This leaves plenty of room for the wires behind the unit.

Cons: None

Greasy stereo it's been in one day so far it's been amazing. Before you order any of these stereos please message or call their crutchfield staff some of these don't give you the best functionality and integration with certain cars. Their staff pointed me from a boss system to this one and ensured I had everything I needed for my vehicle. It was a little bit more due to the maestro unit but IT WAS WORTH IT to basically seamlessly with the original car equipment. Also Let me just say, this if you are having any trouble with the install call crutchfield. Their amazing tech service got me up and running with superb service. I was having an issue with the rear view camera not popping up when I'm in reverse and both techs were great! They were sending me pictures of what to look for and was very patient while I fixed my mistake.

Gesture Control doesn't work with CarPlay!

Eric from Cincinnati, OH on 7/13/2023

2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

Super disappointed to realize the highly touted gesture controls are not active when running CarPlay. Gesture control is the primary reason I chose this unit over the Sony XAV-AX3200 and it doesn't function with the main feature I was seeking in a new head unit, CarPlay. It is not clearly defined or mentioned that the gestures only work on the basic multimedia sources and I am surprised this was not a complaint from any other users. I don't have any steering wheel control options for my 2005 Subaru STi so I'll give it a few more days before deciding it's fate. I have zero complaints with the unit outside of the "partial" gesture control. Sound output and quality are great, screen quality is good, and the UI is well designed.

Pros: -Screen feels OEM grade or better. -EQ and processing tricks make for quick and effective setup for people who are never going to twiddle 13 bands to perfection. -13 bands for the twiddlers.

Cons: -No gesture control when running CarPlay. Seems like important information to disclose clearly. This may be a dealbreaker, I'll need a few more days to decide..

Had it in for the past few days and I really enjoy it! This is my first JVC head unit and I was a little skeptical, but in comparison with the Alpine ILX-650, it was the same price but had more features. I use Android Auto and it has virtually ZERO lag! Very easy to do basic tuning, but I'm no pro so I haven't dove in to some of the more audiophile functions yet, but it still sounds great. I'm running a D4S JP34AB amp for my mids/highs and a D4S JP23 for my sub, and the JVC works great with both.

Pros: More options than comparable HU's from Alpine and Pioneer.

Great sound and a couple quirks

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

Great sound coming from this unit, I replaced the stock Bose head unit on my 2011 Mazda 3. I kept the rest of the Bose system (amp + speakers) the sound quality of this unit is better because you can tune the equalizer to your liking. 4 out of 5 stars because of a couple quirks. 1. Cannot keep the unit off. I can turn it off but when I turn on the car the unit turns on automatically on radio mode. 2. station seek. on most car stereos you can jump between preset stations using the steering wheel up / down buttons and there is a separate button or dial on the radio to just tune seek non preset stations. with this particular radio you can only do 1 mode at a time, and you have to press the seek mode button each time you want to seek preset stations or regular stations tune. Besides that, no physical buttons but I knew that before purchasing this stereo, I was deciding between this model and the Sony AX3,200 that has physical buttons but the JVC has brighter screen and 4 volt pre outs.

Pros: Great sound Bright screen 4 Volt amp pre out - This is good if planning to install an amp in the future.

Cons: I cannot keep the radio off. Every time the car starts it turns on the radio with the last played station.

If you've got and older 4Runner with a working JBL system, this head unit is a great match. Left the original factory speakers and amp in, added Sirius XM tuner, and set up for CarPlay. It's like driving a new car. The inbuilt equalizer makes up for loss of direct speaker controls, so the sound is quite good. The Crux wiring adapter was perfect and allowed for the old steering wheel controls to still operate. Only thing I'm not in love with is the Metra trim package. I have had the unit installed and in use for about 2 months. It works & looks great. Fits a 2018 VW Jetta just fine. I purchased all the recommended mounting gear, interface harness, Maestro, etc. Everything works fine - steering wheel controls, etc. maintain normal function. One observation - VW has a strange interconnect cable with a "round" tan connector to the mounted USB in the center console. There is not an adapter included to connect the USB type A radio input to this cable. So, I am currently using the USB cable included with head unit for device connection. I initially purchased the unit for Apple CarPlay. Carplay works very well. Overall very happy with all aspects - price, sound, display, & device interface. I continue to be a long time fan of JVC car audio.

A wonderful upgrade to my Wrangler. I thought I had a decent set up when I purchased the vehicle from a buddy; it had aftermarket speakers, a subwoofer, and amp. When my factory head unit went out I purchased the KW-M780BT so that I could have Apple Car Play and more consistent Bluetooth. I am blown away at the difference this head unit made. I went with the JVC after a lot of research because of the features compared to similarly priced Alpine head units. Install was pretty straight forward. Plug in all the wires and put it back in place. It worked first try. Getting used to the interface was a little weird at first, but I think that's to be said about all new units. The touch controls are spot on. There is a near immediate response to touching the screen which reminds me of my other vehicles touch screen OEM radio. One thing I really liked about the install is the shallow depth of this head unit. I have an inline amp that I have stored in the dash. When I removed my factory mount (required for this install), I lost my mounting point for my amp. The shallow install depth gave me PLENTY of room to mount my amp, and all the wiring harnesses and extra wiring I needed for this transition. It made install just that much easier. The reason I only give it four stars is because I am getting a little static even after dialing in the gain on my amps. I don't know if its the actual head unit or my grounding, but I didn't have any issues with the ground with my pre
