I buy from Crutchfield because I get good advice, I get everything I need to install hassle free & prices are always good. Thank you once again!

Amazing sound & features for the $
Bruce from Greenwood, VA on 4/18/2025

I had put 4 new speakers in my '05 Suburban before installing this unit. The difference in sound quality from the factory Bose system to this is amazing. I detest touch screens, so this was a great choice for me. I don't see how you can beat it for the price. The JVC options for sound configuration are beyond expectations and prior experience. The installation kit & support made it easy & comfortable to do. Would gladly repeat this purchase.

JVC & Crutchfield.. the best
Ronald from Phoenix, AZ on 3/28/2025
A great product to replace my 20-year-old Nissan radio. More features options and controls that I even imagined. And the real difference in this was a Crutchfield rep Randy who offers so much help for me to pick the right radio for the right use in my car. Jeffrey in tech support help me with the right answer at the right time to complete an installation and Crutchfield's system of providing the harness connections, the trim kit to finish it out, instructions, diagrams and examples are Paramount in follow through when it comes to putting a product in your own car. The product is exemplary, the service is the best, and all this goes to justify my use of Crutchfield in the beginning, and will prompt me to come back in the future for the speakers I'm going to need for my car.
Pros: Great features

Not bad but with a few annoying quirks
Chris from Philadelphia on 1/2/2025
Display is dim and impossible to read in sunlight. "Fast forward" works when playing MP3s but it would be nice if it went faster after holding for a few seconds. "Rewind" however, only works for a second or two and then jumps all the way back to the beginning of the track. This is incredibly annoying and means that you can't go back 20 or 30 seconds to replay something you just missed. I don't know why they would configure it this way. It basically means that fast forward and reverse are unusable. I also agree with the review that says it's impossible to change any setting without looking and the equalizer set up is unnecessarily complex and resets randomly.
Pros: I like the dual (front and back) USB connectors It has been reliable
Cons: Dim display, not readable in sunlight rewind on MP3 doesn't work

For the price, this is a great unit. Easy to use right out of the box. Turned my work van into a much better daily driver! Crutchfield included the install kit and removal tools. I opted for the prewired harness from Crutchfield as well. Removal of the stock unit and install of the JVC took less than 1/2 hour and that included modifying the stock opening in my van. Doesn't get any easier!
Pros: Price, ease of install, sound clarity, display color options.
Cons: 2000 E250 van required an antenna extension due to location of input on the JVC vs the stock Ford head unit.

Growing up in the 70s Kenwood and other well known stereos were popular. I chose JVC because of the name recognition and the quality. It certainly is a nice car stereo, has nice features, and the price was right.
Pros: Easy installation, lots of features, visually clean lines, Ready Harness available for easy connectivity.
Cons: Difficult to navigate to set up features if Demo Mode is accidentally bypassed, even after performing a reset. Set up for Bluetooth went as usual with the iPhone but wouldn't connect after six tries.

This head unit has all of the features I want. That said, it is absolute crap. -The knob is unpredictable at best. You want to change your EQ based on sound? 1 click up is usually 1 click down, followed by 1 click back to original, then 1 click up. Impossible to change any setting without looking. Especially DTA. You can't even trust what settings you set, because when you click the knob, it can rotate and change the setting before it exits. -The EQ is extremely easy to set back to factory or completely screw up. All it takes is a long press on the "eq/bass" button (next to menu) and it screws with your carefully adjusted settings. It doesn't save a custom1 or custom2, as well as the presets. You can't flip between custom1 and custom2 to see which sounds better. There are 13 different frequency adjustments in the EQ. Great for fine tuning. Terrible when the fine tuning gets accidentally reset. -The DTA settings are all in distance, with no option to see or set a millisecond delay. -The 62.5Hz option in the EQ has an additional layer for "bass ext" if you click the knob. Every other option does not. Should put bass ext (whatever that actually is?) with q factor or something. -Important and unimportant sound settings are all in the same menu rung, so it takes forever to navigate the menu. A head unit is used to modify, amplify, and distribute a signal to multiple outputs and locations. It should be easy to use, not a nightmare.
Pros: Features
Cons: The knob is infuriatingly unpredictable and makes you have to stare at the head unit to change anything Menu layout is crap. EQ should be with fader, balance, sub level, and DTA Speaker size and car shape change audio output without any explanation of what they are changing. Why are tweeter settings in with front speaker size? audioIN->levels/delay->audioOUT should be the only thing a head unit should be doing to the signal. Let the user set the signal changes, or leave them out.

Exactly what I was looking for

After several hours of research, this is the head unit I upgraded to. No complaints whatsoever. Easy to install and set up, I wired a backup camera myself, has all the features it claims, works great and looks the part. Improved audio quality on its own with OEM speakers (no surprise there), but I ended up installing a 4 channel amp and upgrading my speakers as well. The fact it has built in eq and time alignment made my whole system sing. The screen requires very little pressure to use and is responsive to touch and the contrast is great and visible during the day. I like how it still has buttons on the bottom to access features easily. Android auto works great and the startup time for the unit is quick. As always, Crutchfield went above and beyond with their harness and I have steering wheel controls still and made it a breeze to wire everything up. I purchased this unit as an "open box" and beyond the box being retaped, there was no indication at all that the unit was anything but brand new and someone had simply returned it.
Pros: Lots of features, easy install, high quality screen and sturdy build quality, time alignment, crossovers, and eq improve sound drastically.
Cons: A tad pricier, but you get what you would expect from a kenwood unit.

Doug from Havertown, PA on 4/9/2024

This is an excellent radio, especially for this price. The sound quality blows my factory radio away and the options are great. Several reviews mention that the display is unreadable in bright light, and this is pretty much true. Fortunately for me, I don't really need to see the display that much. When the sky is overcast, this isn't an issue. Electrically, the installation was literally plug and play; Crutchfield's custom harness worked flawlessly. Steering wheel controls work perfectly with the module Crutchfield sold as part of the install package. Mechanically, the dash did require modification as noted by Crutchfield. Additionally, there was a small plastic "lip" near the front of the dash I had to cut away because the new unit was about 1/4 inch taller than factory. Crutchfield's instructions did not mention this, but when I called them, they said there was a note that the fit might be "tight." Removing this lip solved the tightness issue. Recommend Crutchfield add removing this as possibly needed. My oscillating tool easily handled the mods--I recommend this tool for anyone else doing an install. You will need a metal blade for sure. My first time doing this, including figuring out the mods needed, etc., and I still finished in under two hours. Crutchfield's instructions are perfect. Overall, saved about $180 by buying from Crutchfield and installing myself vs using BB. Parts alone were $100 cheaper and saved the $80 instal
Pros: Great sound Bluetooth Works Great Easy install
Cons: Display unreadable in bright light

Amazing Radio!
Sam from Cleveland, TN on 4/3/2024
2004 Ford F-150
Amazing Radio! I looked for a radio that would play Bluetooth and didn't expect the great sound quality I got from this unit! This is awesome! One minor problem though. I play songs from Bluetooth downloaded onto my phone. They all have correct album and artist names in those slots on my phone. When I first hooked up this radio it displayed the song title and the artist name below it. This is shown in my pictures. Now for some reason it shows the song name and then the album name under it. And it never cycles back to show the artist's name like it did when it wa first hooked up. Has anyone else had this problem? And does anyone know how to fix it? Other than that this unit is perfect!! And the installation was fairly simple. It was a little unclear since there were some wires I didn't even use. That was confusing but other than that I just tried stuff until it worked.

Installing yourself? Think twice.
Mel from Prescott Valley, AZ on 10/3/2023
2001 Ford Econoline
Think twice before attempting to install. The upper and lower lips, about 1/4 inch, from factory radio need to be cut out. Do NOT remove side lips. Only know this from previous review (thank you). Installation instructions are lacking, at best. I used a 24 tooth blade then the Dremel with sanding disc. After several try's got unit half way in, just to check. Ensure you connect BT phone and XM radio, as well as AM/FM antenna BEFORE attempting to slide (and I use that term loosely) in unit. About 1 hour before access was ready. I tested with less than half the unit going in, without the side installation package, and it was not easy removing. Strongly suggest professional installation unless your patience is greater than mine.
Pros: Unit is excellent. Tested prior to installation. Suggest going with Crutchfield on the option of their techs putting together the modified rear adapter. Looks good.
Cons: Crutchfield was little, to no, help on installation. 2nd tech did provide picture of the 2 lips to cut out. Factory antenna, on my 2001 Econoline, was 6 inches short. Ordered antenna extension prior to installation.

Sounded GREAT for a few minutes
Ronnie from Phoenix on 10/1/2023
2001 Toyota Tacoma
Highly disappointed!. Got this unit with the additional wiring harness for my 2001 Toyota Tacoma on Friday and installed it Saturday. It sounds GREAT when it works!. I then kept getting wiring messages on the screen and to check my wiring. I tore the unit out and cut off ALL the butt connectors to check the wires and all was good so,I reconnected the wires with rosin core solder and shrink wrap. This time I checked before I re-installed in my dash, powered up just fine and worked for a few minutes and check wiring was on the screen again!. Checked the wires AGAIN! after cutting off the soldered connection and I hooked up all the wires bare and wrapped in electrical tape and, the same check wires AGAIN!. I've checked fuses, junction block, and everything I can think of and the same results every time!. And of course you can't reach anyone on the weekends so, I'm just boxing it up and returning it tomorrow. This unit is a dud! And this is the first time I've had anything like this from Crutchfield. I've spent my entire weekend messing with this stereo and I've had enough!. Back too my old stock unit until I get another one that actually works.

This stereo is great. There are only 2 thing I have had any issue with. Some of the optional colors do not display well in bright light. However, most do, so this is not a big issue unless you are set on using a darker color. I have had to turn off my bluetooth then turn it back on, each time, for Alexa to pair. This may be an issue on the end of my phone rather than the stereo though. It connects to the bluetooth automatically, but the Alexa function takes a little more work.
Pros: Every feature you could possibly need.

Got this deck after buying a Belva that just wasn't set up for amps so I was a little frustrated going into this purchase and my son and I LOVE this deck so far.Had it for a month only but highly recommend for the price. The Bluetooth is strong no issues and I really dig the colors that you can set it to.

It's a great product and well worth the money. I would have given 5 stars if the manual had more information for the many menu settings. Other than that it was easy to install and a welcome upgrade to the factory unit.
Pros: Hassle free installation with the optional harness adapter and mounting kit
Cons: Needs more information about the setup menu options

Brian from Holly Springs, NC on 5/13/2023
Good sounding Double Din system for the money with lots of features. I wish the main control knob and push buttons were sturdier- we'll see how they hold up over time. Sounds really good compared to the old, original unit.
Pros: Good value and sound, good features.
Cons: Materials may be a little flimsy

The look and fit for my Subaru was perfect. Its back lighting is perfect day and night ( just have to find the setting) works absolutely like it should. The mic and phone combo is clear as well. 4 windows down and people on the other line can hear me perfectly. Love the big volume knob as well, so I'm not hunting little buttons or push screens to lower. 48 years old and still rocking.
Pros: Clear clean and easy to install
Cons: None !!!!

Adequate
Raymond from Clanton, AL on 4/5/2023
2010 Toyota Yaris
My biggest complaint is the display can not be seen during the day. No settings make it visible. The included picture is with the radio on and car running with headlights on at 2:30 pm. This makes this unsafe to use, as one has to lean down to the display to see anything. Do not expect to do much while driving, other than press preset radio stations. Have not tried Disk player. I expect it to work, but I'll only know the track at night.
Pros: It fit.
Cons: Display settings are useless, and therefore, there is virtually no display.

Would I buy it again? MMmm..
William from Indianapolis, IN on 4/3/2023
I bought this for my 2005 Ford Escape with the help of Chance. He was great and helpful. I like the unit very much. The sound is great and the Bluetooth function is really nice. A microphone is included so I can chat on the phone hands-free and it reduces road noise. Installation went well, I did have a concern but the support fella was patient and nice to talk to. This unit has made me realize that my speakers need to be replaced and I will definitely buy them thru Crutchfield as the prices and service is the best I have experienced. I do have a couple of issues with my new XR950-BTS. (1) The display is very nice at night but too dim to read in the daytime. There is a dimming function but that only makes it dimmer for night use. As I was driving on the expressway I attempted to adjust the sound. It was so difficult to see I drifted into the. wrong lane. The lady next to me swerved and ran off the road. It could have been an accident. (2) The unit is very customizable and has a myriad of functions. I downloaded the User Manual but a list and roadmap with details does not exist. I have spent HOURS in the garage trying to get it set up the way I want. Trial and lots of errors is the only method sans a good Manual. Since this is the bottom: bottom line...I am very glad I bought this unit but find these two problems frustrating.
Pros: Good sound. Fairly easy install (with a little help from my friends at Crutchfield) . Lots of options. Fun display at night. Great radio reception. 18 FM presets. Mic for the BT connection to my phone. Two phones can connect for chat and five for music. Sirius connection optional.
Cons: The dim display unreadable in daylight. Poor user manual. The centrally located volume/function knob makes it easy for my wife to turn it down while I am driving but a little too much reach for me to turn it back up, even when I am alone in the car.

Great For Vampires
Crutchfield customer from CELINA, OH on 3/31/2023
You get what you pay for, even though this stereo sounds good unless you are a Vampire or only drive at night do not buy it. Why a company would produce a car stereo display that can't be seen in the daylight is beyond me. I even contacted JVC and they told me that's how it is. Take my warning or get a B-Shift or 3rd Shift job.

Wife loves the radio. Sound is night and day from OEM. Lots of EQ customization. Back light customization is a nice feature. Fairly easy install. Seems daunting due to how the Tundra dash is put together. But once OEM was removed, it was a quick and easy install with the ReadyHarness. Crux SWC module kept all steering wheel controls.
Pros: Customization.

The radio sounds great. I thought the installation instructions were terrible. When the website said it would fit my vehicle as a modified fit, I didn't realize that I would spend half a day cutting out my sub dash and then it just barely fit. I was a little disappointed in the plastic radio mounting brackets that came with the kit. Overall I am happy with the finished product.

Big bummer, cant read display in sun at all.
K from Cleveland Ohio on 3/5/2023
2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen
Everything was awesome until the sun came out and I couldn't see the screen on maximum brightness in day mode and not dimmed. Effectively the brightest it gets and you will not be able to see it at all when in midday sun, unfortunately. You'll basically have to fashion a sun shade over it to prevent midday sun from interrupting your experience. I'm probably going to return it. Everything was great the first four overcast days. Hopefully there's a slightly better version of it.
Pros: Everything else for the money is awesome, if I could see it on sunny days.
Cons: Cannot read display at all on sunny days.

Very happy with this head unit. Looks great and sounds great. I like the features and the huge array of audio settings it has. Thanks to Crutchfield's included vehicle specific instructions, dash kit and wiring harness, it was easy to install. My only complaint is that the display is hard to see in the daytime. It would be great if JVC could fix that in a firmware update if that is possible, otherwise I am very happy with this purchase.

Great simple stereo
Kamchinn from Philadelphia, PA on 1/19/2023
2008 Volkswagen Passat
Was looking for a basic stereo to replace my own for mainly for Bluetooth purposes and some CDs here and there. Installation was quick and easy, just need to take your time and read things carefully that Crutchfield provides as I did mess up 2 wires. No issues on connections, very nice in terms of presentation and calls/mic usage have been spot on. I opted not to have steering wheel controls since there's a volume knob and physical buttons to change music which was the main reason that I chose this stereo. Very happy with my purchase - should note that there IS a firmware update so if you purchase, be sure to upgrade it!
