The addition of two ES50 speakers as front L & R in my surround sound theatre system has made a great sound improvement to music and movies. Even my wife loves the speakers.

Matthew from NORTH STAR, MI on 12/7/2024
I was coming from a 2.1 JBL sound bar, which I thought sounded alright for what it was. Wow! These things are amazing. Movies and dialogue are clear and bright, but music is where these things really shine. I wouldn't depend on these alone if you like a little bass. A subwoofer is still needed, but really not a fault other than they do market them as "effortless bass." Lastly, I'm nitpicking here, if you're using banana plugs, the caps that Polk uses are absolutely terrible. Unless you're a surgeon you ARE going to break or mar the post. I gave up and just went without the banana plugs.

For the size - they sound really good. I have them paired with the Yamaha RXV4A, and they work really well for movies and music. I have a 1 bedroom apartment so space is somewhat limited but these were perfect for my needs.

Amazing sound!
Josh from Radford, Virginia on 11/2/2024
Well I'll start with. I had a pair of Klipsch Black label f200s and they are a great pair of speakers and I decided to get something else that wasn't so bright. On the top end I got a pair of paradigm floor standing speakers. Although they were really good speakers, I didn't feel like they had any base to them whatsoever. But I will say they had great mid-range. I will say that in a very clear top end. So I decided to send back to paradigm and get the Polk audio signature elite floor standing speakers Right out of the box. The very minute I hooked them up and I played a guns n' roses song through it and my jaw hit the floor. They wasn't even broke in and they sounded this amazing so I let them play all night long on low volume. Cut them off in the morning and then when I came home that evening I jammed out on music and and watched a movie and I'm just blown away. I am keeping these speakers so anybody that wants a good pair of speakers let me rephrase it. Excellent pair of speakers. These are worth every penny. The only way I turn these back in is to get the other ones with three 6 and 1/2-in woofers because if they sound this good with two 5 and 1/4-in woofers I can only imagine the others pair. I love them so much. I'm about to order this center channel and the bookshelves so I can have the whole surround sound Thank you crutchfielda for working with me. I am so grateful
Pros: Pros, an amazing sound. Very clear just the right amount of bass when watching a movie or listening to songs. The sound is dead. Accurate is not late. It's not overdone. It's not muddy. It is pitch on it is worth every single penny you can spend on them and if these sound this good I can only imagine how that center channel is going to be and this is the first pair of speakers I've ever had that I couldn't decide to leave the grills on or off cuz they look amazing both ways
Cons: There is no cons. Nothing whatsoever that I am dissatisfied with

I'm happy with my choice!
William from New York, NY on 6/3/2024
I'm happy with my choice! I was choosing between these Polks and two other brands, and Crutchfield expert Daisy helped guide me through the pros and cons of each -- taking into account my equipment, room configuration, and listening preferences -- to settle on the Polks. I strongly recommend using Crutchfield's chat, even if you think you've already arrived at your best choice. Very smart for Crutchfield to employ such highly qualified HUMANS and allow them sufficient time to work through the options with potential customers. I bet that goes a long way toward avoiding "buyers' remorse" and returns. Also, I appreciate that Crutchfield makes an effort to develop sustainable packaging -- their outer boxes employ sophisticated folding techniques that dispense with packing tape altogether and allow for easy flattening for storage, recycling, or re-use. And the speakers arrived quickly and in perfect condition.
Pros: Accurate and warm delivery of LPs, FM radio, and digital files. Good value.
Cons: Be prepared to spend significantly more (in the thousands or tens of thousands) if you're looking for top-of-the-line, immersive audiophile sound.

Running with a Denon AVR-1609 in a 5.1 Channel home theater set up, along with a Polk HTS-12 200 watt powered sub and an ES35 Center Channel, I have to review the entire system here because no single part functions in a vacuum. The ES50 towers initially struck me as being extremely well-crafted, and after a year of owning them I still agree with that. The finish is clean and simple, the sound is very warm, surprisingly good bass for two smaller woofers thanks to the way the cabinets allow passive amplification of the low end through airflow. Nonetheless, I owned them for about a week before I decided I needed more bass, which is amply covered by the HTS-12. That thing kicks, but not without one major drawback- there is no app such as those offered by other makers like SVS to adjust the tuning of the low end from your listening position. Regardless, as a system, this sounds as rich and full as any sub-$1500 2.1 channel can get. FYI, I have my AVR crossover set at 80hz with the front speaker setting at "large". Finally, adding the $400 ES35 center Channel brings decent range and volume but sometimes lacks the crispy clarity required for some softer dialogue in movies. I'm considering a Klipsch for center channel upgrade, but the speaker sensitivities are vastly different so I'll consult with Crutchfield before pulling the trigger on anything. Rear speakers will be Polk ES15 in matching walnut veneer which looks awesome, btw. They'll arrive tomorrow to complete the set up.
Pros: Amazingly warm sound, no listening fatigue; sound good in almost any room; impressive bass extension for their size and succeed as standalone speakers for most music tracks. Construction and finish are impeccable; magnetic grilles are super clean. At this price, I can't imagine any listener being disappointed. Adding a sub makes the larger ES55 or ES60 seem superfluous, as they all use the same tweeters. The compact stature looks great and surprises you with its outsized performance.
Cons: Still require a powered sub for a complete range, especially movie soundtracks.

I was going to go Klipsch when I started looking for floor standing speakers. But the review team at Crutchfield sold me on these. With the return policy I figured I would give them a try. I am totally satisfied for really, half the price. They look great too, fit nicely in the corners.

I was skeptical because of the price. We went with a matched setup for our home theater system. All of the speakers are well-built and sound great. These really shine on the highs and mids. Not regretting our purchase at all.
Pros: Affordable, well-built, highs and mids are great
Cons: None that I can think of.

Great speakers. Running with Denon S960H and Polk ES30 center, 10 inch BIC sub and sound is balanced, precise and warm. One of the best looking speaker lines out there IMO and goes great with my modern styling. White color is absolutely beautiful in person, cool looking bronze-ish feet and magnetic grille is a nice touch. Cannot go wrong with these but I would pair with a sub if you like some bottom end.

Great Price with great sound.
Ernest from Glennallen, AK on 7/19/2023
Polk never disappoints. Great sounding speaker especially for the price. My first pair of Polk's was some Monitor 10's over 30 years ago. These are going in a spare room in a surround sound setup. I'm replacing some bookshelf speakers as my main L/R front speakers with these Polk ES50. I've only have them less then a week, but so far sounding great. Crutchfield has a special deal going on with a free sub woofer a PSW10 if you spend more than $500 on Polk speakers. So, not only did I get some great sounding speakers, I also got a brand new subwoofer to go with them. I've been adjusting the sound level on the sub to match up with the speakers. The speakers go down to 38 htz, so it doesn't take a lot of volume on the sub to fill the bottom end. Highs are great, I would say the low range on the mid's could be stronger. But other then that, sounding great.
Pros: Great looking speaker, like that it's tall and skinny, fits good next to the TV.
Cons: Mid's could be stronger.

Decent sound
Vanessa from Kingman, AZ on 6/15/2023
Decent, clean sound. Connections are not great. They are in a small, cramped space with big screw heads, and the screws don't come all the way off. As a result, you have to try and get the speaker wires securely wrapped around posts you can't even see and hope the wiring doesn't come free while you're screwing down the screw heads. It took me more time to get them done than I care to say.
Pros: Nice sleek look. Good sound
Cons: Generic manual that covers instructions for several different models. Connection posts in tight, cramped space.

Purchased to replace my 20+ year old jbl s38 studio monitors. Bi amped on my Yamaha rxv6a. It's amazing how crystal clear the highs are and how tight and clean the bass are without clouding the midrange frequencies. Great with movies and probably even better with music. Been running all my old progressive rock albums through these and they have never sounded better. A steal at that price point. Funny how I purchased these 5 es series speakers to replace the jbl s series monitors that I purchased from Crutchfield approximately 23 years ago.

The sound is clean and clear and these speakers provide very good bass too. They fill the room with plenty of awesome sound.

Warm, balanced sound. Not too boomy or too flinty. I paired this with a Polk HTS-12 powered sub, as I wasn't fully satisfied with the low end. No doubt that sub is massive, and probably overkill, but I love it. The combination is really astonishing, especially at this price point. Running with a Harman Kardon AVR 1510 digital receiver, getting all my input data from an Optical line from an LG Smart TV is stunning. Cinema-quality mids and highs; devastating bass. Highly recommended.
