Good with factory amp, would be better with more power
Robert from Oregon City, OR on 5/20/2025
2014 Lexus ES350
They sound good given the signal they are getting (factory amp). The high/mid is not that much different, but the bass is certainly more punchy compared to the factory 6.5" speakers. No distortion at all that I can hear even at maximum volume. I did put some sound deadening mats in the doors when I installed the speakers to reduce rattles and extra vibrations, and tried to make sure they were sealed in good, so that helps too. I am sure they would sound a lot better being driven by more power though. For a direct replacement of factory speakers, the upgrade you get for the price is questionable. Probably a better value if paired with an aftermarket DSP/amp that delivers more wattage.
Pros: Clear sound with no distortion to my ears at any volume
Cons: Not as much of an upgrade over the factory speakers as I was hoping.

Well made with clear sound. Decent bass for the size of the speaker. Beware the filters on the back stick out and may interfere with mounting in some situations. Very happy with them so far.

JBl-64SQ vs Focal ICU 165 (6.5)
Robby from Fort Worth, TX on 5/14/2025
2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
2020 Chevrolet Custom Trail Boss : I purchased these speakers thinking and hoping they would be louder than my previously purchased 5 yrs ago Focal icu 165's for the back doors. After self sound dampening the doors and installing and doing some sound comparison between them the JBL speakers sounded ok but the Focal's over all sound quality to me was just a tad better than the JBL's. None the less the sound dampening and speaker sound bedding to all 4 doors makes me not care about adding an Amp.
Pros: They are a good purchase for the price.
Cons: I guess you get what you pay for

Terrible quality
Dee from LAKEWOOD, CA on 5/4/2025
Got these for the rears to match JBL components 64 CSQ. These blew after 1.5 yrs powered by JL JD 400/4. Interestingly enough, blew around the same time as my front components. Not sure if they were the same batch but so disappointing from a well known brand. Never again. Replaced with JL C2's.
Pros: Decent sound when working
Cons: Only lasted 1.5 yrs. Poor quality for JBL brand.

These 6.5 inch speakers sound great! Always happy with JBL's sound. These are pretty close in sound to the JBL Club 622's with better bass. Really nice looking with the carbon fiber woofers! Too bad they're hidden behind door panels
Pros: Great sound! I was surprised to see copper speaker terminals. Haven't seen that for many years
Cons: Plastic frame. I was expecting metal for the price and the quality of the rest of the speaker

Speaker's quality looks great I haven't installed it yet, they don't fit in my 2004 Honda pilot if you have the same Honda get smaller speakers I will say 5 1/4 and you will safe time and less hassle and harder work.
Pros: Quality material
Cons: Won't fit my car, description say it fits that's why I bought it. I need to cut the door metal about and inch on all 4 doors

Excellent Addition to an Aftermarket HU!
Benjamin from Bothell, WA on 12/31/2024
2018 Subaru Forester
Solid speakers at the price point. pretty clear, a tiny bit bright, but they have a solid bass response and their sensitivity combined with ohm rating make this a really great choice for an unamplified aftermarket head unit set up. I'm using these in the rear of an 18 subaru forester for rear-fill and it compliments my system well. Install was easy enough but the supplied instructions aren't totally thorough. I had to cut through the door liner to route the speaker adapter wires because the factory speaker plug is in front of the door, not within the cavity. there also isn't a great way to use the speaker bracket that's supplied (in this car) so I just drilled 4 holes in the door using the cardboard template (it's the bottom of the speaker box!). I'd recommend these - great value, solid quality - especially on sale :)
Pros: Ohm rating, sensitivity, clarity, fullness of bass, cone material, weight/quality
Cons: installation bracket didnt work for 18 forester, crutchfield instructions not quite thorough enough for this install, supplied adapter was curled and tight, had to tinker with the speaker terminals to get it to fit on correctly

Crystal Clear
Carlos from Star, Idaho on 12/20/2024
2021 Chevrolet Suburban
I used these speakers to replace my factory Bose speakers in my 2021 Suburban. I was very impressed with how detailed these speakers are. One of the most clear and detailed speakers that I've heard. Unfortunately I had to submit a return on them because the highs were too bright for my taste, even on low setting. Was getting to be a little fatiguing for my ear after a while. It's probably something I could adjust if I had a DSP.
Pros: Detailed and clear.
Cons: Too bright for me.

These little six and a half inch speakers have a surprising amount of bass! Getting the wiring harnesses included made this much easier as I didn't have to guess the polarity. They're upper frequency sound really good too. If you're okay with Punchy Bass instead of subwoofer base these are a really good deal!
Pros: Included wiring harnesses.

Check compatibility before you buy
Nick from HAYMARKET, VA on 12/7/2024
2006 Honda Pilot
If you are trying to put these in a 2006 Honda Pilot you need to buy something else. I took both my front door panels off only to realize the metal backing of this speaker is too big for the metal frame and the whole speaker would not fit inside the door. I called Crutchfield to explain this issue and sent photos and they authorized an exchange which was helpful, but this website told me that these speakers would fit my car which they did not. That's misleading and frustrating because I thought i'd have new speakers in my car already but need to now wait another week for the correct size ones that are currently on backorder to ship. Oh well, I would have liked to know what these sounded like lol. Again, does not fit 2006 Honda Pilot.
Pros: Wouldn't know
Cons: Didn't fit my car

Great bass! Go for these and you can do without a dedicated subwoofer.
Thomas from Hazlet, NJ on 11/8/2024
1990 Nissan 300ZX 2+2
Go for these if you want great bass. The carbon fiber speaker cones are sweet. It's just too bad novody will ever see those, but these speakers should be durable and last a long time under heavy bass load / use because of it. I have 4 of these 6.5" Club 64SQ in my 1990 Nissan 300ZX Z32 to replace the factory bose speakers that were crackling on high volume/bass. I have an Alpine head unit that limits the wattage per speaker to 35-45 I'm guessing (these speakers can handle 75W RMS). One day I'll install a 4 channel amp and they'll sound even better! When installing, don't forget to push in the +3dB option if you want the extra smidgen of bass.
Pros: Carbon fiber speaker cones +3dB bass selection/button Nice finish Angled / directional tweeter speaker built in Crutchfield support Cruthfiekd installation documentation They're JBls! One of the best in the biz! Great, fair pricing!

Should be pointed out in directions but I caught it during installation. Great idea from JBL

Phenomenal speaker
Crutchfield customer from Lawton OK on 11/29/2023
2008 Dodge Ram 2500
First off these speakers sound phenomenal. Really clean sound even with just a stock radio and the bass output is truly impressive for a door speaker. If you are installing in the rear door of a 2008 Ram I would strongly recommend you consider something else. The install was very difficult due to the geometry of the door and while I was able to make it work, it is not installed to the standard that I would like it to be. The JBL brackets that come with it are pretty sorry. However I had to use them as there was no other way to install as the new holes have to be drilled on a steep incline and it is too much hassle to try to get that done. I had to use different screws to secure the speaker to the JBL bracket because the screws provided were just long enough to wallow out the hole on the bracket and not actually grab on. Overall I do recommend the speaker as it sounds fantastic, I am a little bit salty with Crutchfield for stating this speaker fits. You CAN get it to fit in the dodge ram but it is a stretch and don't expect it to be installed in a professional manner.
Pros: Sound Quality Build Quality Bass
Cons: Mounting bracket Screw length Mounting options Reconsider if purchasing for 08 Ram
