HUGE dissapointment

Purchased this to go with all the JBL Stage 2 speaker ssystem I puchased also. HUGE dissapointment, and is being returned for a refund, I already purchased an SVS PC-2000 Pro - which is INCREDBILE and works correctly. There are two issues with this sub IMO, 1. It is severely underpowered, and not well matched to the Stage 2 Speakers despite being "part of the set" and designed and marketed to work together. 2. It seems poorly designed, the "VOLUME" is really a GAIN that adjusts the signal voltage it's getting from the subwoofer RCA cable from the receiver, Calibration software, like Audyssey in my case, are deigned to have you adjust the gain so that the sub outputs at 75DB, to match the speaker's output so you have balanced sound, and in the case of this sub you need to turn the gain almost all the way up to get the proper level. That is not the case with most other subs, as an example, the SVS's Gain is at 30%. Turning the gain up on this JBL sub results in muddy or boomy bass, and sounds awful. It also seems to not play all of the bass frequencies being filtered out from the mains, resulting in very poor sound. I tested it on 3 different AVRs, and 2 differnet subwoofer cables to rule out any other issues, and it's for sure the sub. I'm a JBL fan, and dissapointed. I wanted a "matched" set and have all the speakers and sub be the same looks wise - for this price no way I was keeping ir for looks. CRUTCHFIELD is awesome, as always, this sub...not so much.

Pros: Looks pretty, and matches Stage 2 Speakers

Cons: Poorly designed, and underpowered
