Worthy Upgrade - Exposes Factory Radio Inadequacies
Jim from White Lake, MI on 12/16/2024
2013 Ford Edge
Upgraded 2013 Ford Edge factory system. I decided my design criteria to be (1) maximum sensitivity to get the most out of the factory radio and (2) speaker tunability. I settled on: Front: JBL Stadium 862F Rear: Infinity Reference REF687F Both are Harmon speakers with similar design and identical high sensitivity (93 dB at 2.83V) but with different woofer and tweeter materials. I figured they would play nice with each other. Tunability - both have a 3.0 dB tweeter adjustment and the JBLs have a pivotable tweeter. Installation was easy and straightforward. I'm not qualified to give an in-depth review of how the speakers sound other than vocals are clear, bass can be felt at low volume, and instruments sound as they should - from Classical to Jazz to everything in between. I should have done this years ago. I can say the tunability features are worthwhile and, overall, the sound is now good enough that I can clearly discern the differences in source quality between FM, CD, Sirius, and FLAC (via Bluetooth). This speaker upgrade has put me at the precipice of the slippery slope of system upgrades. Time will tell if I can resist upgrading the radio and amplifier. Installation Tip: get a couple of replacement attachment pins for the door panels. Crutchfield Suggestion: Include a reminder on potential need for attachment pins at time of purchase. You could even include part numbers (you already have the vehicle info)

Stadium Quality with Just a Headunit
Brian from Syracuse, NY on 7/2/2024
2006 Ford Mustang
I added these rear 2-way JBL Stadium Speakers to a set of JL Audio components and a JVC KD-R900 in a 2006 Mustang GT. I was worried they were going to be under powered but they sound rich, full, and were exactly that I was looking for when trying not to add weight with amps and subs but still hear quality music over a loud exhaust and turbo noises. They have been installed a few weeks and still sound great.

Great Sound - Couldn't be happier
Robert from FREDERICK, MD on 5/14/2024
2004 Mercury Marauder
After trying 3 different speakers from Kicker, Pioneer, and then these, should have gone with these from the start. Even though fitment guide said wouldn't work in front doors, I was able to get them in with a little creativity in my 04 Marauder. All speakers in the car are the Stadium line including the spare tire sub. They handle the power from the RF amp with ease. Zero distortion and just play clear. Couldn't be happier with the speakers or Crutchfield. Been a long time customer since the paper mailings and will continue to use them.
Pros: Great sounding, handle the power from amp, easy install.
Cons: Only thing I wish speaker makers would do is have the bottom mount ring be attached to the frame. This would protect the speaker surround during excursion of the woofer. But no cons other than that.

Really nice sounding speakers. I took note of how great their little portable Bluetooth one was, and hoped for a comparable sound. I was not disappointed. That said, I did have to play with my radio settings a little, but they're fantastic.

i originally bought jbl gt0860 speakers for my truck. one pair lasted less than a year so Crutchfield sent me thee as replacements. these have lasted about 13 months, just out of reach of the warranty and the sound quality is trash now. buzzing noise when the bass hits, muffled highs like the tweaters are goung out, and the set screws for the terminals are carbon steel so they are all rusted now from normal use living on the coast. i wish they actually lasted because they sounded good when they were new
Pros: sounded good new
Cons: doesnt last long. dies right when warranty goes out. rusy terminals.

Will not actually fit the 2004-2008 f150
Hernan Noe from EL PASO, TX on 5/19/2022
At first I thought these were perfect but beware. The 2004-2008 f150 will not fit these baffles. Once you roll the window up and down a mechanism will tear the baffle to shreds. Buy the slim version instead of ruining these. It's a good product but does not warn of size issues.

I installed 4 JBL 862f in my Lincoln LS along with a Sony XAV-AX5600 receiver, the speakers sound great, I'm very happy with this system. I wish the tweeters would perform better at low volume, but over all they sound great! Crutchfield was great to deal with

Garbage. Waste of money. DO NOT BUY
Stephen from South Louisiana on 4/19/2022
2004 Ford Explorer
I got these during a total sound system overhaul. New head unit. New speakers. Got a sub. The whole nine. I bought these JBL's for the front, and two JL's for the back. Being that the JBL's were rated at five times the wattage of my head unit's maximum output, I figured I'd be safe. Wrong. The JL's held up fine. The JBL's are wrecked. The right one crackles and fizzles. I'm fairly certain the tweeter is blown. The left one intermittently just stops working completely. When it does produce sound, it's typically muffled and much lower in volume than the other side, almost like the tweeter has been totally removed, and you're only hearing what's below the built-in crossover. Not one, but both tweeters are a total disaster. Again, my head unit is putting 20w into these 100w (300w peak) speakers. I'm a music producer. I don't run the volume high. I'm very protective of my ears and my hearing. I'm not pushing the head unit into clipping. I typically run the volume at 21-36 out of 50. These speakers couldn't handle that. And no, there's no truth to the myth of "underpowered" speakers breaking by virtue of being underpowered. Even a rudimentary understanding of physics and speaker technology prove otherwise. These JBL's are just that worthless. Cost me hundreds. The JL's cost way less. Maybe I'll grab another pair to replace these overpriced wack JBL's.
Pros: None if they don't actually work
Cons: They are worthless garbage

Sounds pretty good so far, can't really give a 100% honest statement yet since my back window has a trash bag over it from a break in but sounds pretty good. Install was super easy other than the dang door panels. Hooking them up was super easy if you've messed with wires before.
Pros: Easy install Loud
Cons: Not plug n play

Customer oriented in a time where others are not
Crutchfield customer from Wichita, KS on 12/30/2021
Not only were the speakers exceptional quality. The customer service was unbelievably patient, attentive, and knowledgeable. With a 60 day return policy there was nothing to lose if I didn't like my product. One of the smoothest experiences I've had with a company from transaction to installation due to the amount of Crutchfield's resources at my disposal.
Pros: Customer service including after purchase, installation manuals, quick shipping, easy to install in my vehicle
Cons: Honestly none

Direct fit with no problems in rear doors of my 2013 F150 Crew Cab. Sound is clean and crisp powered with a 100w RMS amp. The only thing I could say is the instructions are lacking. Specifically in the area of what and where some of the included accessories are supposed to go. I did have to call support to determine if the plastic ring around the rubber surround was a protective cover or needed to stay on for installation. I would not hesitate to purchase again in the future.
Pros: Simple install direct fit clean sound
Cons: instructions are poor
