Installed easily with the instructions from Crutchfield that came with it and I had them adapt the wiring harness. Great stereo. Excellent visuals and photo display. Just works, is not too hard to set up and can be used while driving in terms of electronic buttons, and the back up camera. I wish the radio buttons were more clear to the display. The reason for four stars the volume buttons are too close to the edge, and too small. Hard to get a medium sized finger on. Get it, you can't go wrong for the price.

Does not work after very little use.

Would not recommend this radio. I purchased this on 2/2/2025. I installed this on our extra car that gets minimal use. We have used this car maybe 20 times since it's been installed. The radio will not boot up for us to use it. The screen stays black. The last 2 times the radio gets to the Kenwood logo screen and it stays on that screen indefinitely. I only purchased this radio because it was recommended by the advisor when I called. I was going to buy an Alpine I installed in my son's car a couple of years ago that's been trouble free, but the advisor talked me into this Kenwood. This radio is past Crutchfield's 60 day warranty. I have to pay for shipping to send this to Kenwood's 3rd party repair shop. Crutchfield has lost me as a customer over this. I should not have to pay for anything the first year if a product is faulty. Crutchfield should do the right thing and exchange this radio. DO NOT BUY THIS RADIO.

Kenwood DMX4710S in 2011 2500 HD

So far, after the radio being in my 2011 2500HD for 5 days, I really like it. Wish i would have went wireless. The USB port is very slow charging, but the Android Auto is great compared to the original unit.

Great sound but everything else is glitching

There are definite pros and cons to this unit I'll start with what I was looking for out of this product. All I wanted was a nicer upgrade from that stock unit that played music from my phone had hands free calling and worked with a backup camera. Where this unit does do all those things, it doesn't do them well. The microphone is fine when I am parked, but as soon as I start driving the call cuts in and out making conversations impossible.the Apple car play is very laggy and cuts in and out. And the worst is the back up camera. I have to manually switch to a camera screen manually instead of it automatically coming up in reverse. This unit has lots and lots of different sound adjustments and speaker configurations and if you were looking for something that sounded great, this might be for you. I just wanted something to play some merl haggard and Willy Nelson. I will keep trying to see if any of these problems are things I can fix, but after it being in my truck for the first week I like it less today then the day I installed it.

Kenwood DMX4710S Toyota Sienna 2015

I installed the Kenwood DMX4710S into my 2015 Toyota Sienna LE. This took longer than I anticipated than when I used to install radios back in the '90s and early 2000s. Let's start with Crutchfield the company first. Although I gave a rating of 4 stars, I will have to say that I'm disappointed in the improvements (or lack thereof) that they have made since dealing with them during those years. I spoke to a technician over the phone about the fitment of this particular radio and the face-plate and she indicated that was a "known" problem. If it's a known problem, something should be done to improve the product. Secondly, my rating is based on the fact that the provided instructions were not clear at all, between the radio instructions and the installation instructions. As far as the radio user manual goes, they present the functions of the radio before showing how to install it (reverse order). If you're going to charge a relatively high price for the installation package, at least provide documentation on how they all tie together. Now, for the radio, I'm somewhat satisfied. However, I'm disappointed that the brackets provided were made out of plastic. Do they not use metal brackets anymore? Radio reception was bad until I found an additional wire that needed to be connected that was not mentioned in the manual. FM tuning is not as good as it should be. I should have read the reviews before purchasing.

Very nice upgrade

I installed this into a '97 Maxima. This is a huge upgrade over the factory radio. Works and sounds very good. I am very glad that I made the upgrade. Mainly, I just wanted the ability to connect to the phone to see the Map on the screen, and listen to streaming music. Lack of a volume knob was known when I bought this, but, I wish I would have gotten a radio with the knob. Overall I am very pleased with the radio. Since this went into a Nissan with Bose, I did have to get the extra parts to make the connection and install possible with this radio. I will review those separately. But all in all the Crutchfield package had everything that I needed to make this upgrade possible.

Seamless integration

I'm 64 years old. I haven't installed a stereo since I was 18. I was a little hesitant to take this on, but after looking over the videos on YouTube and carefully reading the instructions, I had no problems. All my steering wheel controls and sync are working great, and the system sounds better than ever. The dash kit was missing the panel clips. I called Crutchfield and spoke with Bailey who immediately sent me a new kit. It was here in 2 days.

Avoid

Radios bluetooth sucks , to much static in the background. Radio goes pitch black. Time doesn't stay correct, it could be 7pm & will be showing 4am. To many problems avoid.

I ordered this for a used car we sold. The factory radio was inoperative. The sales department picked this unit out of a few options I presented to them. The technician installed it today. He came in to my office and told me the install went beautifully. I was quoted many prices for repair and programing an OE unit. This was a great option. Did a dry run before mounting unit permanently in dash. Hooked it up with ready made harness made for my vehicle. Powered up, set time and date. No sound, antenna plugged in and it won't receive any FM, nor allow you to change it. The unit won't keep time or date after setting and saved. Didn't get far enough to try it steering controls. But it did connect to my phoneIm. But think it lost the settings. Unit will restart itself after trying to save settings. I'm gonna unplug it and make sure AGAIN all connection are tight.. and see if that resets things. If nothing after that will just mount it and eventually look for a new radio. At least it looks nice in the dash! Oh..the back up camera worked! If I can get the menu to work to view the camera. Very disappointing.

RV upgrade

Compact size made for an easy install. Display for the back up camera is a nice improvement over then unit it replaced. One of the major reasons for the purchase was a poor display on the old head unit. This display is much clearer and colors are much more vivid. I can see the screen even with polarized sun glassed, which I couldn't do with the old one. Bluetooth coupling is much easier than with other car stereos I have. Haven't tried Apple Carplay yet. Normally don't use remotes in car stereos but wish this had one. Volume control is not user friendly. Inconsistent responsiveness. Wish users could just hold the button don't for large adjustments, or be able to sweep the touch screen to change volume. Manual could be better, pictures of screen icons are pretty much illegible. Had to learn many of the features by trial and error. Fortunately most of the functions are not hard to figure out. It has an extremely strong FM sensitivity rating, which was a factor in selecting this model, but unfortunately does not live up to its billing. FM performance is no better than average. Crutchfield as usual, is fantastic. Best customer service around.

Better than expected

The hardest part FOR ME it was to flash the Maestro RR. Since I'm not that good with computers. Besides that it was pretty simple, just plug and play on my 2013 Navigator. The device more features than I expected. Very happy with it.

Not really any better than the Pioneer I replaced. I've been a Kenwood user for about 20 years and I feel that they've gone down hill over the last 10. This unit has only 2 pluses vs. the Pioneer (in the truck when I got it), and that's a display you can turn off and the ability to use a wireless remote( not include although, they used to come with most stereos). Oh well, I guess everyone has steering wheel controls these days. Oh, one last thing, doesn't interface well with older iPhones.

Better volume and clarity

8/10 very happy with the upgrade! 2018 ram 1500 express Loud and clear, better display, quicker pairing, better tuning, preamp output. Overall I'm happy with the audio aspects of this, but very disappointed in the interface. Feels like a 2005 ish radio.

Excellent Fit!

Installed in a 2004 F-150 after the factory radio / CD player failed. The Kenwood radio recommended, along with trim kit produced a factory quality install. Sounds great with the original factory speakers and nice to have Apple Car Play. Recommend using the Crutchfield ReadyHarnessT Service to save time- well worth the price and makes the installation simple. Crutchfield customer service is also excellent.

A good deal for the price

The Good: Easy install due to single DIN size and upper brackets. Gives extra space to tuck in cables. Connectors are not jammed together, so it's easy to plug and remove all connections. Large clear screen with good resolution. Android Auto works nicely with no issues. Seems quicker than some wireless version. Audio has a ton to settings to adjust and tune sound. Easy to understand interface. The Bad: The unit developed a bad echo problem after install and testing. Required a re-initialization using the menu settings (Kenwood tech support). Front pin reset and power removal did not work (Crutchfield Support). This caused a day's work of troubleshooting. Hope it doesn't happen again. Not all the screws line up with Metra installation panel, only used 3 per side Touchscreen prone to fingerprints. Needs a textured glare coating. Unit has a lot of settings, and it would be nice to have a backup I could store somewhere.

Super satisfied

This was an upgrade to my teenage son's car and now we feel safer knowing his navigation is on the screen and he has the ability to be hands free while driving. We bought it primarily for Apple CarPlay, because it's simply-great. The screen looks great (colors, etc.). Sound is great. My son loves it. We've had it in a week and so far so good. It was complicated to instal but it can be done. I can't say enough about Cruthfield's customer service/tech support. They helped us add everything to the cart that we needed and helped us throughout the installation process via the instant chat feature. They were kind and helped from beginning to end. Thank you guys!

Excellent head unit if your upgrading from factory. Great sound and power brought factory speakers to life. Only drawback so far is usb only for Android auto/Apple car play, though not a big deal for me. Would reccomend this unit.

Not ready for prime time

I prefer Kenwood units because they're usually reliable and well built, even though their UI is a bit dated. So, when I saw this new unit I decided to give it a try, especially since you need the short length and L shape for the 2020 Corolla. Unfortunately, I was unable to get my backup camera to work and my steering wheel controls weren't working properly either. After talking to Crutchfield and getting a replacement headunit/Maestro, we determined that this is most likely a firmware bug between Kenwood and iDatalink. Since the headunit was just released, there currently isn't any updates for the radio or the iDatalink (at least for the 2020 Corolla). I can deal with the messed up steering wheel controls, but I need my backup camera to work. I decided to return everything and maybe I'll try again once some updates are released.

Solid stereo, UI could use some work.

Overall, it's a solid unit. It does lots of stuff, and does it all pretty well. The User Interface could use some work, though. I had to Google how to set presets for the AM/FM radio. You need to be in AUTO2, then hit the < arrow to bring out the preset menu, then hold the preset number until you see it say Preset 12 or whatever on the screen. Not super intuitive. The processor also feels a tad slow, but the price is reasonable for all you get.

Does Apple Car Play well but the good points stop there. You can't turn off the radio, the best you can do is mute it but that only works till the next time you power on and then you have to mute it again. When an application talks to you the radio blasts through at the end of that notification even if the radio is muted. Poor bass even with the equalizer turned all the way up on the bass frequencies. Colors on the screen are a bit washed out especially when in carplay. Bluetooth connects to Iphone but Kenwood app (which is awful!) doesn't. Overall I would rate this as slightly less than so-so. Has GPS but oddly has no native navigation app.

Easy installation, happy with all of the features you get, way better than my old single din and you still get bass at lower volume, with my old one I would have to turn volume up high but with this head unit I could have the volume low and there was still bass from my subs, happy with all of the speaker options, would definitely recommend.

I am very happy with the Kenwood DMX4701s stereo that I bought for my sons first car. I needed a solid unit that had Android Auto, Backup camera and steering wheel compatibility for a replacement to my Kia Optima factory unit. The Crutchfield team was super helpful with a couple install questions that I had. In the end the unit works fantastic and checked all of the boxes that I needed.

We chose a cheaper model to save money and it's perfect for my college age daughter. It has all the features she wanted/needed. It does not have wireless connection and we did have to use a high quality media cord for her Iphone 15 pro for it to connect.

Great upgrade to 2001 4Runner

I'm no audiophile, but I'm very happy with the Kenwood DMX4710S. Excellent sound, reasonably responsive touchscreen, easy install. Huge upgrade to my factory stereo with no BT, no Car Play, a broken cd player! What I don't love: the mic is fine, but not great. Siri understands me, but people on the receiving end of phone calls while on the freeway have had more trouble. 3 out of maybe 25 times I plugged in my iPhone, Car Play failed to connect for some reason. Not sure if that's the head unit, phone, or cable. Unplugging and plugging back in solved it.

Excellent unit. Superior quality. The 4710S has integrated mic for the Bluetooth, so I didn't use the external mic provided. Also includes GPS antenna cable in the box if you don't want to use your cellphone gps when apple car play or android auto is connected. Perfect unit upgrade paired with 6.75" Kenwood speakers in my 2012 Hyundai Tucson. Crutchfield is the top seller in this area. Lots of expertise.

Start to finish... Crutchfield nailed this deal for me. The Kenwood DMX4710S was super simple install with the pre-wired harness pack. It was installed in 2009 Buick Lucerne with the Crutchfield supplied (I purchased it) adapter. The radio looks like it. Came stock in the car and all the steering wheel radio controls absolutely work just as they did with original equipment. Crutchfield'tech support helped me with a few questions making this installation a breeze! Crutchfield is my "go to" for all my automotive radio needs!
