Usually I wait a little to review but this was not for my car. Very good product, easy to use, I didn't even look at the manual, it is intuitive. Power seems slightly better than the factory unit without an amp. The FM sensitivity is lower than the factory radio which is a bummer for one of our nearby stations that has the best music And least commercials.

Fantastic stereo for the older guy from the 1980's

Before reading this review, know who's typing it up... It's 2025 and I'm a 47 year old guy who grew up driving vehicles that were made in the 1980's. That being said, I don't like touch screens because I'd rather "feel" my way around for the correct button that I want to push, and leave my eyes focused on the road. While this unit (as well as most others) offer steering wheel controls, I don't care for that either because they get in my way. Remember, old guy who's used to the 1980's. Anyway, it came down to two units. It was either the Sony DSX-B700 or the Kenwood DPX505BT. Old guy still loves compact discs, I went with the Kenwood. Other reasons are: buttons are easy to see with peripheral vision, buttons are large and chunky for a very large "man's" finger to push, they're all in the logical area of the face where they should be, nothing that looks like a spaceship where the RRW button is in left field and the FWD button somewhere near home plate, I love the ability to match the colors to my existing interior dashboard lights, and there's a dimmer function for day/bright and night/dim. Going through the menu is a little difficult, but once you set it, you'll never need to see the menu again. Let's not forget the stunning sound processing that Kenwood has in their computer chip things. I don't need to change out the speakers of my 2010 Toyota Tacoma because it makes the factory speakers sound fantastic. That's my review and I've run out of space for more lol. TLDR - GREAT!
Pros: Big, chunky, buttons that are easy to push with big fingers and easy to see with peripheral vision to keep your main focus on the road... The buttons are all in logical positions on the face... Display is crisp and clean and easy to read... The ability to customize the color of the lights to the existing dashboard lights is perfect, as well as the day/bright and night/dim option (hold DISP button for 3-seconds)... The sound processing makes even older OEM speakers sound fantastic again =)
Cons: Going through the menu can be a "little" confusing, but very easy to figure out while you're setting everything up. But once you set it up, and tweak it a few times, there's no reason to go back and touch anything again. Takes a bit of time to get it perfect, but after that... Set it and forget it =)

I received the radio, rear speakers and custom prewired harness assembly. I called Crutchfield customer service to ask about a couple of wires that I was told not used on my model truck. Installation went great. This radio is just what I needed. Radio was extremely easy to setup. I'm thankful I purchased from Crutchfield.

Now I'm learning in detail with the PDF owner's manual. Very pleased with the CD player, it's going to get a lot of use. Still more possibilities with Aux. and my portable SXM. Exactly what I wanted. Good sound and plenty of options. With that being said, it does get a little convoluted for some functions. It has almost too many options to play with in the EQ. And some controls are not how they are expected to do. Plays the radio very well, USB is an awesome touch, CD player is straight forward and it was easy to hook up phones to it through Bluetooth.

I had a professional install the unit. It works very well, but the learning curve is steep to configure all the settings the way you want them. Following the directions can be a bit confusing. Also the lighted faceplate does not seem to get bright enough for me as the unit sits very low in my trucks dash and is difficult to read while driving. But I do like it and it is a huge upgrade from the original radio that came with my pickup.

2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
I couldn't believe how easy it was to install the unit in my 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. The stereo itself is very nice, just what I wanted to replace my failing factory radio. I had asked the local Chevrolet dealer to install it but they were reluctant. They said to contact a car stereo installer. I looked at the installation instructions and watched some YouTube videos and decided to give it a try. It went in very easily and works great. I had Crutchfield complete the wiring harness connections. All I had to do was unplug the factory radio and plug the new one in. I'm glad I tried it myself and ended up not paying the dealership $400 to install it. I bought a set of tools to remove the dash covers, took my time to get them off, and didn't have any trouble swapping radios. I don't think there are any pointers I can give, it went in so easily. It has been so long since I heard the chimes after the truck started I was a little confused at first. I did turn down the volume of the chimes as it was pretty loud turned to the loudest setting. I'm still not sure I will leave the chime connected, it can be unplugged. I have to give it some time to see if it bothers me enough to unplug it.

Unit seems fine except beware of area on back of unit that gets super hot, burned my wrist sound testing it, and connector on harness is made of inferior material and clip broke rather easily. Called customer service and a new harness was shipped out same day of which I'm awaiting delivery. Sound seems fine and unit is nice. Can't wait to finish install and cruise blasting my new player !!!

I wanted a display that was easy to read, convenient to insert and eject CDs. I didn't realize I would be able to connect it to my phone for one-touch verbal texts and phone calls (I'm in my 70s). First Problem ever with Crutcfield in 30 years

FIRST LET ME SAY THE SOUND QUALITY OF THIS SYSTEM IS VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! After several DIY car system installations I liked Crutchfield's customer service and tech support enough that I spent big bucks for a new home AV receiver and speakers package. Everything with that was just outstanding. Now after 8 DIY car installs over 30 years I've encountered the first "issue"... When installing a Kenwood DPX505BT head unit, 2 Infinity tweeters, and four Kicker speakers in the doors, (replacing all the factory gear in a 2005 Toyota Prius), I discovered a problemwith the nuts and screws for the speaker adaptors. That's three nuts and bolts for each adaptor, for a total of twelve. Between the two kits that had a pair of adaptors and a bag of nuts, screws and washers, NONE OF THE NUTS WERE THE SAME SIZE AS THE BOLTS!!! I went to Home Depot and got stainless steel phillips head screws and nylon lock nuts, used the existing washers and finished up the job. Then I threw away all the incorrect nuts and slotted head screws. NOW, unless Crutchfield owns "Metra" who makes the speaker adaptors, they wouldn't have known about this. I thought they should, and I thought that YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT IT. I didn't like the inconveniece though I was glad HD was close and that what I got was an upgrade from what came in the kits, and I also wondered HOW MANY OTHER FOLKS HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ??? And yes, this is a "first world problem", AND Crutchfield will always be my ONLY sou

Only negative is the huge real estate given to the phone button and the alexa button, neither of which I ever use, while play/pause is relegated to a secondary function on one of the number buttons and next/previous are tiny compared to those. Poor design choice, people who are buying radios without touch screens probably don't want a huge button for a mediocre amazon "assistant".

I bought this for my son for Christmas. He has a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. He really wanted something with Bluetooth. I wanted to keep the steering wheel controls. Thanks to Crutchfield, we installed this ourselves in less than an hour. The directions were clear. I did pay for the wired harness and that was worth every penny. He had his phone paired within minutes. We didn't change the speakers, but the system sounds so much better with this unit. It is easy to set up and he liked that he could pick the color.

Works great, although setup is a bit clugey. Note that it states that for a 2010 Sentra, you must connect the ground directly to the chassis. That was not the case for me, the adapter connected just fine. Check the ground on the car's connector to verify it is grounded.

I haven't had it in very long but I'm extremely impressed with the sound quality. I used the stock speakers as they were in very high condition. When I turned on this Kenwood for the first time you'd thought I'd put in a whole new sound system. Thanks to Crutchfield the price was right. With there quality wiring packages and instructions installation was about two hours for me but probably a man with two legs could have done it in about forty five minutes. Tim B.
Pros: I bought the optional wiring harness and it made it totally painless. Plug and play.
Cons: I used the option of leaving the beasel in the truck to modify it instead of removing it. Most of the videos showed removing it. Because I have trouble getting around I chose to leave it in and damaged my beasel just below the stereo. I let the dremel collet get to low and eat my dash. It hid pretty good so I'm not worried for now. I'll just keep my eye out for a used beasel and pick one to use later.

Annoying blinker sound.

There was a bit of a learning curve navigating how to get from point A to point B but after a phone call to Crutchfield, JT was a great help to my minor roadblock. Being in my 70's, I am not familiar with upgrades in the electronic world---heck I remember when 8-tracks and cassettes were the thing. There is plenty of volume and so many choices to the equilizer. Of course, all the presets for each band are a plus and would have been a determining factor for this purchase. I will probably not use every feature this deck has to offer, but it has enough for my needs. I can always depend on Crutchfield to help when a music problem pops up. Great Buy! Thanks Crutchfield.

Big upgrade over factory Nissan. Takes a little getting used to with controls. Links right up on Bluetooth. All functions work correctly.unit fit well in my truck.
Pros: Good power & great reception on FM. CD works great too.
Cons: Has a lag period when changing functions. A little slow especially if you're trying to skip thru 3 or 4 settings.

My review is more for the service and not as much the product. The product itself I am undecided on as I have not had a chance to use it much as there is a problem with one of the speakers not working once I installed it. But when I called in to customer support about this, Crutchfield has been very helpful and efficient in sending me a replacement unit which will hopefully fix the issue. So this review is for the quality of the customer service. Thank you very much to Crutchfield for that, in a world where customer service is a dying thing.

Cons: The stereo itself is not easy to use for me, an old-school analog preferring person.

*Note: I brought this to a professional autoshop for the installation. I switched out the head unit and the 2 rear speakers (bough separately) in my 20-year-old car. Along with the two new 6x9 rear speakers, the sound is a massive improvement. I love the bass boost and loudness settings. At first I thought that I should also get an amp and subwoofer, but the bass output is more than enough for my old car. The menu/settings take a little getting used to to navigate the options, but once you figure out the scrolling and the back button, it's intuitive. The variable colors are kind of fun, but some colors really don't display very well in daylight, but you can just pick a color you like and stick with it, no problem.

Just finished installing this Kenwood DPX505BT and was blown away with its capability. My initial need was to replace the original CD/radio unit in my 2007 Xterra, since the CD player was kaput. I am now picking up FM stations that I never knew existed. The clarity of the CD player has renewed my joy in listening to jazz recordings. The installation was a snap once I learned how to open up the dash area. Having the Crutchfield team prepare the wire harness for a small fee, installation became just a simple "plug and play" event. The people at Crutchfield delivered an A+ for customer service. I highly recommend them for your next project.

The Bluetooth is terrible. It comes and goes a lot. The cell connection is terrible. The other party can't hear me at all. It sometimes the blue tooth has to be connected manually. These isn't worth he money at all. If there is a solution to these, then please let me know. Or else I am returning the whole product for a full refund.

Good radio, did exactly what I wanted to. It fits perfectly into my 2016 Patriot. Connects automatically and starts playing the music on Spotify. Seamless pairing with the Jazz present it makes my stock speakers sound a whole load better. Nowadays songs that I would have to put to 25+ on my old speaker, sound just as loud and as good on 14 on my new Kenwood.

My original 2000 Avalon radio stopped working. So I bought this Kenwood. The installation was easy. Especially using the Crutchfield extra cost wiring harness. I painted the bezel provided by Crutchfield to better match the car trim. The controls are reasonably intuitive. I don't use the built in phone capability so can't comment on that.

I searched and searched and SEARCHED for a decent head unit that wouldn't break the bank and I found it! Paid $180 in total for the unit, ready harness, brackets ect. And I gotta say it's a bad little head unit, big upgrade from the stock one. Only time will tell if it holds up though but for now it's awesome. 10/10 was a little tricky to install but I was also trying to install it in a 97 Honda crv Very cramped but overall not too hard in the end. Have a video showing how it does on stock speakers and a little EQ tuning no sub or amp. Very much recommend this unit. (Did not install the mic because I seen it as useless anyways, manly got this unit for radio and AUX music)

If you buy a new Metra bezel dash face, do not use instructions 95-6551 supplied with the stereo. Use instructions DP-6551 supplied with the new dash face. 95-6551 includes a template and a radio trim panel. You will not need these. It is not necessary to cut the new bezel for a proper fit. It is still necessary to remove material from the sub-dash. A hacksaw blade works great.

I replaced the original 20 year old radio in my F150. My choice was down to spending $400+ on a reconditioned original radio or installing an after market unit. The Kenwood saved me hundreds of dollars and gave me some nice modern features like Bluetooth and phone connectivity. The power is excellent. It powers my factory subwoofer and produces a full range of sound. The Kenwood installed flawlessly with the dash kit and pre-wired harness I bought from Crutchfield. The pre-wired harnesswas a GREAT decision and well worth the money! I called tech support with a couple of questions and they were spot on with their advice. The radio takes a bit of focus to set it up, but the features are robust and it perfoms well. The only way this could have been a better expeience is if Crutchfield had installed the radio for me. There is a reason I have been a Crutchfield customer since the early 80's!

To be honest I wouldn't have bought it if I knew that JVC and Kenwood are the same thing. After installing it I set it up according to the instructions. When I tried to connect my iPhone it went through the process then said "Deleted". Tried it again a few times and same result. So I just plugged it in with a cable, that worked perfectly, and figured I would call tech support when I had time. Hopped into my truck, tossed my phone in the holder, and when I started it, radio booted up and connected!!! Been working perfectly since. Has plenty of settings and power to make the low cost Kicker speakers sound like better quality speakers. Would definitely recommend this stereo. Enjoying the sound quality and overall performance.

2014 Ford F-150 XLT
Easy installation in my 2014 F150 xLT without LCD screen. About 2 leisurely hours to remove factory radio and replace with Kenwood radio. My Crutchfield advisor Nate loaded my cart with the wiring harness, antenna adaptor and replacement dash panel, so purchasing was easy. About 15 wires to splice (I declined the $25 service to connect the wire harness, so not sure if that would have been the service they sell). I did lose the clock on my factory dash display (but external temp and compass display still function). Also lost the factory microphone near the sun visor, but the stereo includes an external mic that was easy to fish through and install in the left side dash panel above the vent (and audio quality on my test call improved over the factory mic. Nice to set color that is clise match to other display lights. Controls are pretty intuitive. So far I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Crutchfield matched up the vehicle and radio perfect. I installed it myself and if you're mechanically inclined and able to match wires you can also do it yourself. I save myself about $150 and enjoyed doing the work.

I installed this radio in a 2003 Suburban. I have been installing radios for myself for about 50 years and this was the easiest radio I ever installed. I did use the pre-wired adapter from Crutchfield. There was ZERO splicing involved. I will be getting the exact same setup for my 05 Avalanche which is identical to the Suburban. Sounds and looks excellent too.

The FM reception is the weakest on any unit that I have ever owned and I'm 71 years old. If you plan on listening to the radio do NOT buy this. I paid my mechanic to install it and he said that he was NOT impressed with it. I contacted Kenwood, they said it has a "powered" antenna and the mechanic probably didn't hook it up. He said he did but I paid him again to remove the unit and make sure it was powered. It was. Lousy unit.

Installation was easy, with wiring well labeled (per the instructions). Sound quality is good (not great) and the volume knob (which also acts as a multi-function knob) is a real asset- it is quicker and easier to reach for it than to have to look down to find the right spot to push a button up or down (multiple times). As mentioned by other reviewers, the myriad adjustments seem redundant and unnecessary. There are something like 20 lighting colors...too many eq/sound options, etc. (speaker size, really?!?). It is overall a good value, especially given Crutchfield's support and the inclusion of wiring harness, mounting kit, etc. I had not purchased from Crutchfield in many years, but would definitely do so again, no seeing they continue to offer excellent value and service. Oh- shipping was lightning fast.

2009 Honda Element
I am very happy with this unit. Installation in my '09 Element was quick and easy. Had several questions about the pre-wired harness (yes, spend the little extra to get this done, it's well worth it) but Dakota and Etch guided me through the process easily and professionally (Crutchfield's customer service is unparalleled). The unit sounds quite good through my factory speakers. It seems to have more presence than the OEM Honda unit; bass is a little punchier and crisper and the overall sound is strong and balanced. The audio controls and adjustments took a little while to learn but I think we're friends now. I got this unit because I wanted Bluetooth and hands free calling. Both functions work flawlessly. As long as you don't want or need a touchscreen, you can't go wrong with this Kenwood unit. It has met and largely exceeded my expectations.
Pros: Easy installation Good sound adjustment flexibility
Cons: A little hard to see the display in sunlight but this is the case with most units anyway so not really a big deal to me.

Way more complicated then I wanted. Customer service was really good but the manual was only available on line. Never be as simple as what I wanted but really sounds a lot better than the OEM. Didn't think I would want the blue tooth but now that I have it I like it.

Feature packed, with large easy to locate (without having to take eyes off the road) buttons and prominent volume knob. I prefer these to a touch screen. Insane amount of adjustability.
Pros: Older style control features, easier, safer to operate when driving. Has every function I could want. Fit with installation kit good, and installation reasonably easy.
Cons: A lot of the adjustments are for things I did not know existed, so it can be a litlle complicated, or just leave them on the default settings.

This was bought for me by a friend. The functionality and controls are great. The sound however, is inferior to the stock Nissan deck that came in the truck. I'm running kicker cs series 6x9's in the front doors and kicker is series 6.5 in in the rear. Bass is almost nonexistent no matter the eq settings. I used Crutchfield wiring harness on both the deck and speakers, so my only conclusion is that if you're looking for punch and volume...this is NOT the deck to purchase. Installed in a 2007 Nissan Titan.

Cons: Sound is far inferior to the 2007 deck from Nissan.

Overall good unit, reasonably priced replacement for failing factory radio in 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. Only giving 4 stars for some difficulty finding/choosing files off of my thumb drive. The factory radio would display a few lines of files by album/cd name but I haven't gotten it figured out how to cycle through them on this unit yet. ( a little over 100 CD's more than 4k songs). It does however play from thumb drive and fortunately still plays CD's that I've resorted back to for now. Sound quality and volume are better than the factory head unit (non Bose). It seems streaming music is the new way of listening but I haven't gotten there yet. If you're streaming music this unit may work great for that. Install was a breeze with the optional wiring harness and steering wheel control module. Everything fit where the factory unit was installed. I highly recommend the ready to go plug and play harness, as it made installation a snap.
Pros: Low cost upgrade to failing factory stereo. Available wiring harness to make installation simple.

I installed this car radio this afternoon. I prewired the connectors and all went well.... Until I tried to tune/scan for FM stations. ZIP/Nada? nothing. This is a radio...right? Why did this unit not want to perform as a simple radio out of the box? I used to install car radios in all my friend's cars in the past so I'm not new to this stuff except all the new steering wheel connections and apps. This unit only has "one" station that came on and that's been it for hours of me trying to make something make the tuner tune. Any ideas as to what's happening here? Of course, I did this when their helpers were offline... :-( All I wanted was to play CDs and I want 10 over-the-air local FM stations.

It's been at least three decades since I've installed a radio and this was a joy! Crutchfield makes the harness available and the bezel completes the look. The wiring diagram was easy to follow, and my daughter and I had it soldered and heat shrinked in less than a half hour. Attach a couple connections, tighten two screws, snap the trim back in place and crank out the jams! Almost too easy...

fits in my 02 crv w/o issue. the longest part of the install was actually me trying to take off my crv's interior panel to get to the radio. the actual installation took me like 5 - 7 mins thanks to the ready harness provided by crutchfield. and the audio sounds great which i find surprising since i'm still using my stock speakers

This is a great mid-level head unit. Installed in a 2002 Toyota Solara for my GF, replacing the old factory unit. The car already has the factory JBL speakers and amp, which were just waiting for something to let them off the leash. This Kenwood did exactly that. Now she has a hands free Bluetooth phone and a microphone, can play mp3 CDs, Bluetooth Ipod and a color option she loves. Did not connect to XM, can't comment on that.. The difference in sound quality is night and day. She enjoys her driving experience alot more. I have nothing negative to say and that is unusual for me. Very good, solid unit at a very good price. Crutchfield, as usual, hit it out of the park again.

This Kenwood DPX 505 is a truly easy to use entertainment tool. Used the device as entertainment resource on a two day twenty two hour trip each way to Denver and back over Thanksgiving holiday.It made a grueling run from San Jose very enjoyable. Easy to use with the ability to play books on tape with the DVD port and added Sirus XM to fill in the gaps, made the entire experience very entertaining. A real life saver.

I finally replaced the factory radio in my 2006 Volvo XC70 Ocean Race edition. This is an excellent upgrade. The sound quality is so much better even without upgrading the speakers and the Bluetooth capabilities make hands-free conversations much safer. Awesome stereo! Great volume with tons of easily accessed adjustment settings. Love the lights, tons of colors to choose from. Unit itself was an easy install, especially with recommended pre-wired harnesses from Crutchfield advisor. These harnesses plug and play and retained my steering wheel controls. The USB and AUX input ports has a small cover with easy access so don't get dusty. Unit can store 18 FM presets, excellent unit with AUX, BT, CD player, Radio, and USB drive and play directly my stored music folders. All the recommended components for the installation made a perfect fit and pretty much foolproof, and quick install. Thank you Crutchfield, and especially to my service advisor "Daria" for her knowledge and time she dedicated for my questions and the purchase.

Awesome stereo! Great volume with tons of easily accessed adjustment settings. Love the lights, tons of colors to choose from without being completely in your face while driving at night due to dimmer setting. Unit itself was a fairly easy install, a little bit of a head-scratcher if this is your first install and you're looking at the harness!! The USB and AUX port has a small cover flap so they don't get dusty, great planning there. You will need the alexa app to text, but not to call! This unit can hold 18 FM presets-- amazing!! Overall, the dream unit with AUX, BT, CD player, Radio, and USB. There's nothing this thing doesn't have.

Performance of the unit across all audio inputs is good to very good. The color selection of the display is over the top but there should be something for everyone. The owners manual is not as detailed as I would like which led to a steep learning curve in the usage and adjustment of the unit. However, everything is now clear and I would recommend it.

The CD player in my wife's Saturn ION stopped working. I replaced the factory system with this system from Kenwood. The installation went well with the instructions and accessories provided by Crutchfield. The Kenwood system sound great even with the factory speakers. My wife can play her CD's again and the price was right.

The install went according to plan, and Crutchfield makes the plan very easy: paper documentation and videos Yesterday evening I removed the trim and the old radio, and later in the evening reviewed the installation procedure In the morning, all connections plugged in okay, except for a very short ground wire, and trying my best to finding a metal frame and metal nut. Much of the car is made of plastic Anyway, the wife was very skeptical that the radio would work. Keep saying, "can we get our money back?" My response was that the new radio's technology would offer a good introduction to her next car All went great and I recommended Crutchfield's product and helpful sales staff

An awesome replacement at a very good price.
Pros: It plays music, it plays cd's and it pairs with my phone and the quality has yet to be complained about on the other end! I love it...a lot!
Cons: well, there is this one little thing that "I Miss", it doesn't play cassettes...What, I know right, for the price...well, I am a product of a time gone past, I still have a bunch of cassettes that are starting to fail (just too old...lol), so really, I have no cons that have any merit! For the price and the service, which is top notch (shout out to Roger), they explained how everything would be a simple plug and play swap with a very limited amount of work, and they were right!

Unit works and sounds great. Programming is a little tedious but was accomplished with my limited technological expertise. I had a Kenwood car stereo years ago and this unit does not disappoint. The installation kit supplied by Crutchfield made the installation easy and seamless. Would buy Kenwood again.

2006 Ford Explorer
Replaced a faulty Ford Explorer 2006 with this for my Dad. My Dad loves his old SUV and wants to drive this to 500k+ miles. Recently the radio screen stopped work and I tried the resoddering fix to no avail. My Dad was quoted $750 for a replacement and combined with the holder, AM/FM antenna, plug, and readyharness it came to under $270; basically "the works" but so easy to install. Now my Dad has handsfree calling; a huge safety feature he didn't have before and he couldn't be happier. He still can listen to his CDs, radio, and actually know what time it is and what radio station he's on. The handsfree calling feature and actual buttons instead of touch screen are much appreciated for my Dad. He couldn't be happier and is not more adamant to keep driving the car he loves.
Pros: Hands free phone calling with mic. Very easy to use. Great display. Great replacement for a Ford Explorer 2006. My Dad couldn't be happier and went from having a "display-less" radio to a "huge upgrade" (his words) for half the price the dealership quoted him for a unit without a handsfree phone option.
Cons: Maybe I am missing something but the screen only comes in colors instead of just simple white. Not a "con" but just a note: it looks like the mic volume will have to be further adjusted. Like I said, NOT a con but just a note for people that buy this to see if they also need to make this adjustment.

I opted for the wiring harness pigtail option which made this very easy to install. It took less than an hour. This unit plays a single CD, has a slot for a thumb drive, and is more than enough stereo for me.

This unit has great sound and a lot of features for the price. I wanted a radio that could play CDs, and this one does a great job. There are a lot of options if you want to use them to fine tune the display and audio. It's nice to have those. The symbols on the buttons are a little small. Still, once you get used to where everything is, it's no big deal. I am enjoying my purchase and would repeat it. I installed this myself using the dash kit and "ReadyHarness" service from Crutchfield. Everything went great.

The Kenwood stereo is a great fit in my 99 Solara. It updated my car to Bluetooth and hands free for phone. The install was easy and simple. All wires matched up with provided wiring harness and deck fit was perfect for dash opening. Once installed, setup was easy and instructions easy to follow. It sounds great, crisp and clear. I saved a little money by going with a scratch & dent model.

The DPX-505BT is an excellent, non touchcreen, option for an aftermarket receiver. The most impressive feature of this unit is the ability to control the audio beyond the usual 3-band equalizer. The user can alter the soundstage, change the gain , alter the crossover frequencies, and more. While not as "loud" as the OEM unit in my 2010 Accord, the music comes across as crisper and cleaner. Arguably one of the better *bang for the buck* at this price point..

On/off button is not illuminated and very difficult to see in daylight as it's poorly labeled. There is a red triangle that is illuminated at the top left of the unit but it does nothing. ??? Menus is overly complex and frustrating to use. Sound quality is good but not very loud. I would have picked a different unit if I had known about these shortcomings.

No problem installing. Only one adjust. We had to bend down the bracket in back of the unit in order to slip the radio in the slot all way. It worked perfect. Very happy with the sound quality. Much better than the original equipment. Took us exactly 2.5 hrs. to install. Great.

Radio installed easily and works fine save for SiriusXM. After setting up the subscription, the tuner refuses to connect to the radio. Crutchfield tech support suggested that I remove the radio and replug the SiriusXM tuner. After I did that I called back twice, left voicemail, and never got a call back.

I had originally purchased a smaller unit (half the size of this one, with a small cubby underneath) but found the buttons on it were too small to use easily, and things kept coming out of the cubby every time I accelerated. I replaced my original unit (Kenwood KDC-BT38CU) with this one and I am very pleased with it. It is easy to operate and has large buttons for normal-size fingers. It was easy to set up, has a good size display and has a sophisticated look. And the "ready harness" was the same, so I was able to swap the old one out in about 15 minutes start to finish.

Pros: Great value. Able to customize sound to suit the vehicle. Improved sound quality over the factory unit.
Cons: To switch between radio and CD player you have to scroll through all the other inputs and it takes a couple of seconds to make each change. The same button is power off/on so if you hold it in too long the unit powers off. A bit tricky to operate while driving. I would have loved to see one button press to change inputs.

1996 Ford Ranger
I put this radio in a 1996 ford ranger to replace the factory radio that had died. Removal of the old radio was very easy with the tools that came with the new radio. I had to modify where the new radio would go since the factory radio was a single din and the new radio is a double din .This took about 10 minutes using a Dremel tool with rotary file. I paid the extra money for the wiring harness from Crutchfield and this made the installation very easy. The new radio sounds great, even with the original factory speakers. I will admit I had to get my Granddaughter to help me program the new radio, since I am 78 years old and technology challenged.

Worked and sounded great until I started the car. The screen went black and would not turn on. I checked the fuse and made sure it had a power supply. It had power and the fuse was good. The layout is exactly what I wanted. Interface is easy enough and basic setup (clock, EQ, dimmer, etc.) took about 15 minutes to learn. Been using for a week now and sound is greatly improved on stock speakers. Four stars because Bluetooth is very touchy. Have already had to use FM transmitter as backup when BT refuses to catch. Should this keep up considering return/upgrade already.

I have had this radio fr a little bit and I am happy with it. It has both front and a large volume knob. i like how I can adjust the color to match the instrument cluster and dash button lights. The radio gets perfect reception for me. It seems some folks are complaining of reception issues with FM on this unit. I wonder if they connected the radio's power antenna wire up to the aftermarket harness? A lot of these cars have antennas in the windshield, back window or other places and require a signal booster to get a good signal. These signal boosters are located in the vehicle require a trigger signal to turn on. That power antenna wire sends a signal to the OEM antenna booster to command it to turn on. If you don't hook up that wire, you get no signal to turn on the signal booster and thus terrible reception.

This was put into a Ford Ranger. It is my little run around truck. I wanted something to have decent power,sound,Bluetooth,Sirius, and a volume knob. It checks the boxes. Install was pretty easy. I also swapped out the speakers. Only complaint is the tuning of channels is a little bit of a pain and the display (with Sirius) can't show artist and song title at the same time. It does with streaming.

2006 Mercury Grand Marquis
Very nice upgrade from the factory radio in my 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. Some slight modifications to the tabs at the top and bottom of the enclosure are necessary for a flush fit. If this is an installation you are considering ??, I would not push the deck in completely after getting it all wired up. The deck adapters that mount on the sides have locking tabs. Once they lock there's no getting the radio out without removing the whole dashboard. I'm currently riding around for a few before I lock it into place. Thoroughly impressed with this deck and all it's features. Exceptional quality for the price ?? ?? ????.

This radio is just GREAT, the installation was easy using the directions Crutchfield provided. It has buttons and no touch screen menu driven display. Works great with my I Phone cell, plays my MP3 music using my usb thumb drive. AM FM and CD is easy to use and sounds great. And great price, Thanks Crutchfield.

Cons: The color code was only in Spanish however it wasn't a problem because google translate exists.

Nice unit. Installation was easy and it looks like a factory installed unit. Love the sound but particularly like the Bluetooth capabilities and hands free telephone feature.
Pros: Easy installation. Bluetooth capability. Hands free IPhone.
Cons: Wished the screen was a little larger. Hard to see in sunlight.

I have as well as my two sons purchased from Crutchfield in the past and were very satisfied which is why I purchased the current unit that I bought. When I was shopping for the unit I talked with a gentleman about the unit and what all I needed and he was very good. I received my order and I removed the old unit from my truck and installed the Kenwood unit and everything went well. I started doing the set up on the unit and the trouble all began. I got the time and date programed in and was setting up the audio as the menu called for and I had a radio station programed in to where I could here the unit well the audio couldn`t be heard. I contacted the Crutchfield help line by text and this guy couldn`t help me I contacted two more to no avail and I had one of them give me a Kenwood persons number so I called and this person couldn`t help me and suggested that I take the unit to a Kenwood dealer that I would have to find and take it to them and have it checked out and that would be an additional cost to me and my time also. I called the return number and the lady was very nice and helpful and asked me if I wanted a replacement unit or money back on my credit card. I have been so frustrated with this whole transaction that I just want my money back and I have boxed up the unit and its in ups`s hands now. I haven`t had any entertainment while driving in over a month and I miss my sirrus radio.

There aren't many in-dash receivers available that also play discs. This Kenwood has great sound, decent power and everything I wanted - at a price that didn't break the bank. Very satisfied with Crutchfield's services as well.

I finally finished installing it and found it to be a very nice radio. Mostly easy to program and hook up the phone. It fit the old radio compartment very nicely and with adjustable lighting it doesn't stand out too much from the old Toyota interior. A good investment for the granddaughter that will get it in about 6 months.

2008 Ford Escape
Great unit that does everything I wanted including CD player, bluetooth and Alexa. But was most impressed and pleased with Crutchfield's matching the wiring harness, new panel, antenna coupler to my car. The installation instructions were good and the only tedious part was getting the correct depth adjustment for the side mounting brackets. Everything worked great the first time.

I would not recommend this radio. The radio was installed by a professional auto repairman. I am disappointed with many aspects of the system. I cannot fine tune to stations that I want. Auto tuner bypasses so many stations. The reception is poor. It was expensive and not worth the money.

Cons: Not user friendly. Poor reception. Hard to work controls.

Bought this because it looks almost exactly like the factory unit i took out. Has decent power to four speakers. I'm running an amp and 10 inch sub and this head unit can keep up with non amped speakers and is plenty loud. Great price and can give you everything you need for a decent setup. Some complaints though. This is my fault but I thought it had a visual EQ. It does have 13 band EQ but you can only see the changes by numbers. Have to mute the mic that came with it because Alexa keeps activating like 5-6 time per car ride and it doesn't go back to previous source and maybe the higher models do that i'm sure. Takes a little bit to establish connection to blue tooth. All things I can live with but these were the things I noticed the most.

Awesome! Kenwood has alway made great gear. Fit perfectly in my 2000 Ford F-150. Easy to use also. I have the same CD player in my wife's Grand Cherokee and she loves hers.
