Don't Cut That Harness!

I recently purchased a mint older Audi with a Wiesbaden code protected AM/FM cassette unit and separately amplified speakers/dual antenna system. Putting in a modern Car Play compatible deck would have entailed a lot of hacking into the OEM harness without this adapter. Crutchfield supplied everything I needed to build a plug and play harness which works perfectly without making a mess of the existing wiring. (including an antenna adapter and interposing relay to power the antenna and speaker amplifiers without overloading the decks 300mA switched lead. ) Soldered/heatshrinked and tesa tape covered the harness adapter for a true factory level install.

Pros: Clean install which doesn't ruin existing car harness.

Cons: After checking existing wiring, I needed to relocate a pin in the adapter harness which did not match supplied documentation.

It's a combined A+B socket, plus a C socket with RCA's. The instructions were on the packet, plus a torn-off paper strip in the bag - they were for Audi and VM installs. They could have been better written, so 4 not 5 stars. On the 993, the amp-remote-on goes in the C socket, not the A socket as specified in the Audi+VM instructions.

This wire harness was a necessity when installing the new radio. I had to order it through Crutchfield because I couldn't find this locally for my 1992 Cabriolet. So glad Crutchfield carried the model!
