Metra 70-5701 Receiver Wiring Harness
Brandon from Lancaster, PA on 3/28/2023
2001 Lincoln Continental
This kit had wires in locations that didn't connect to anything. I realize these are designed to fit many cars but instructions on moving pins or extra pins to add for vehicle specific needs would have been nice. I ended up buying an extra cheap Ford harness for another vehicle to give me extra wires for my steering wheel control module. Also on my 2001 Lincoln Continental there was no 12V illumination signal at the radio. The illumination wire went to an empty pin location on the factory harness. I was able to locate a headlight switched 12V wire above the radio going to the clock/button cluster. Using a t-splice I was able to wire it into the illumination on the radio.

Perfect Match
Crutchfield customer from Sycamore, IL on 5/26/2020
2001 Ford Mustang
Color coded wires were a perfect match, easy harness to use and it mated with my Mustang GT perfectly. The only thing that would have been helpful would have been a note that for a head unit with only one subwoofer output (Sony XAV-AX1000), you need to get an RCA y-splitter and attached both the red and white RCA plugs of the subwoofer harness to that. Otherwise a perfect and easy install.
Pros: Almost everything you need
Cons: Instructions on subwoofer harness could be slightly improved.

Very easy to install, follow the instructions and when done you dont get the annoying pooping sound when the stereo turns on. One thing to add, if you are wiring in an aftermarket amp and subwoofers, DO NOT connect to blue/white from amp to this harness, connect it directly to the blue/white on the aftermarket stereo. This harness is strictly for OEM amps only and should be bypassed when using an addition amp with subwoofer.
Pros: No popping sound out of speakers when aftermarket radio turns on. Easy to connect to aftermarket radio.
Cons: None

Nearly "plug & play"
Jim from Fayetteville, NC on 9/12/2017
2001 Ford Mustang
This harness was suggested as part of the install kit from Crutchfield from "outfit my ride" option. It was spot on! I was able to hook up my new JVC DDIN head unit retaining the OEM Mach 1 sound system in my 2001 Mustang GT. After hooking up this harness to the new head unit harness, it was "plug and play" after that. I later found out that this harness is the most sought after unit for the correct wiring of an aftermarket head unit into the OEM system of my year car. Big thanks to the Crutchfield team for having the correct pieces figured out.
Pros: Perfect fit for my application. Installation was seamless.......

Also the plug with 2 wires (blue/grey) I am not sure what that is for? Can you advise? I am going to get an expert to install as I cant work out the wires. Dont want to blow up my new unit and the amps etc.... Besides that good product
Pros: Cheap

When you finally get the old head unit out you think the hard part is done. Until you see that there are 3 connectors worth of wires that have to go into 1. That's because I was replacing my factory installed MACH1000 with a new Kenwood. Nearly 3 dozen wires in all. The Metra 70-5701 Receiver Wiring Harness made that job easy with accurate wiring information and all of the adapters needed. -1 star for the Amp Turn-On/Sub Harness plastic connector was too tight. I couldn't get it to snap in. I broke the release tab off. I used channel locks (use at your own risk) to get some extra pressure in the connector to get it to seat as far as it would go. I still didn't get it to snap in but it seemed pretty tight. *Everything else was great. I tried chat for some advice and they gave me the installers phone number which I used 3 times. It was my first car stereo install. Everything sounds great.
Pros: Customer service was great. Wire harness matched up good. My first time installing a car stereo and Crutchfield got me through it.
Cons: Amp Turn-On/Sub Harness plastic connector was too tight.

Wiring harness worked fine on my 2003 Ford Windstar. As always Crutchfield delivered a quality product at a reasonable cost and fast shipping! Just another thought. Crutchfield is the only company that I order from that I have not had to return anything because it wouldn't fit. That means a lot to me. Thank you Crutchfield!

Fit my 2001 Mustang GT with Mach 460
Crutchfield customer from Ohio on 1/25/2014
2001 Ford Mustang
I decided to follow what the other reviewers were saying, and I'm glad I did. This harness fit my 2001 Mustang GT with the Mach 460 audio system. No problems at all. Tie ALL the black grounds together, and hook the two blue wires for the rear amps to your head unit's remote wire. This was my first Crutchfield purchase and I'm happy.

2002 Ford Mustang GT Amp Wiring Harness
Mike from Maryville, TN on 3/29/2013
2002 Ford Mustang
Finally after trying other manufactured wiring harness's I found one that works. Everyone else selling a 2002 Mustang harness had the wrong size plug for the amp connection. It looked close but the pins would not line up. I admit I was skeptical about this fitting but others said it would. Worked great!
Pros: Finally found the right connector that works with the Mach 460 amps in my 2002 Mustang GT.
Cons: Not a thing

This worked great with my 02 mustang gt mach 460 system, though there wasnt a need for the baby blue and brown wire harness. With this i added splitters to a seperate amp and sub which sounds great.
Pros: Good product, makes for an easy install
Cons: No need for bby blue and brown wire and one harness needed a bit of push to sit correctly

Just what I needed
Bobby from Fairview, TN on 8/7/2012
2003 Ford Windstar
There isn't much to say about these really. They work as they say they do. What makes this special though, is that it comes with every piece you need to wire up your stereo properly. It has the main wire harness for your speaker connections and things like that, antenna harness so your antenna has proper power, and the amplifier harness in case you have a factory amp. I didn't need the amp harness, but I did need the antenna one. If I had went to autozone, I would have only gotten the main one and my antenna wouldn't be getting the power it needs, since it is an in glass antenna. Thanks for having the proper parts crutchfield!
Pros: It works It has every harness for the car

Excellent Harness!
PC from Connecticut on 5/16/2012
1998 Lincoln Town Car
The folks at Crutchfield did their homework well with this wiring harness. Crutchfield was the only vendor that had all 3 connectors in a single package/purchase AND with documentation. I compared the actual wiring of this Crutchfield harness to an official Ford electrical manual - Crutchfield got it right!!! Car electrical is not for the faint-of-heart so I can't stress how important it is for a vendor to get it right to save the customer from plugging in a $700 head-unit into faulty/incomplete/hacked-up wiring harness. Nice job Crutchfield!
Pros: The immense benefit of not hacking or splicing into the car electrical system. Can put the stock radio back in in 5 mins with no evidence that an after market head unit was ever installed.
Cons: Yes, that I wasted my time believing that vendors (other than Crutchfield) who should know what they are doing with car electrical connectors for aftermarket head-units, don't.

Not exactly intuitive... but easy enough
JamesR from College Park, MD on 8/5/2011
All the wires necessary are there, but if you are replacing a bottom line stock stereo it's not exactly intuitive where they all go. Yes, there is a diagram that is helpful, but for a stock unit you are not using most of the wires. End of the day I would get it again, and do it again. Had the whole stereo and speakers replaced 90 min. after the package arrived from Crutchfield. Great job guys!
