Metra 71-042C Speaker Wiring Harnesses
Kevin from Austin, TX on 4/17/2021
1999 Lexus ES300
Certainly not the correct harness for a Lexus ES300. From the factory speaker connector (up by the door release) to the speaker is probably 18". These things are about 6". As such, its easier and makes more sense just to put blade connectors on the end of the factory wire - vs extending these things. Kind of expected better from Crutchfield.
Pros: Come in a bag
Cons: Way too short

Metra 71-042C Speaker Wiring Harnesses
Philip from Gaithersburg, MD on 4/3/2021
2000 Toyota Camry
I ordered this item for speaker upgrade for 2000 Camry V6. The cable is too short for the front door. I have to solder additional wires to reach the wiring sockets in the door. Thought it would be a plug and play. Not sure why it was made this short. Completely defeat the purpose. If I knew that, would have opted to cut factory wires and directly solder them to the new speakers.
Pros: Too short. Not usable without modification for 2000 Camry V6.
Cons: Do help with identify positive/ground.

I replaced a pair of blown speakers in my vehicle. The first speaker was installed quickly with zero issues. While installing the second speaker I had trouble connecting one of the quick connect wires to a terminal on the speaker. I had to use some pliers to stretch out and squeeze the connection until it fit snugly on the terminal. I had the same issue with a harness I received from here a couple of years ago. Not a huge deal. Just added time to the install both times.

Couldn't be much easier. The connectors were very tight as another reviewer stated. I just wiggled back and forth to loosen up a bit. Plug and play is what I like. The connectors were not a direct match to the speaker base. The base was a half inch wide where the connector was supposed to slide onto, and the connector was about a quarter inch. That's ok. I put a piece of electrical tape over the connector to hold it in place and moved on. Overall I am very pleased.

These are about 3 inches short if you are using these in a 2000 Camry front door. Connectors are correct, just too short. My Camry had the standard Toyota radio and speakers without amplifier . The connectors were correct, on both ends of the speaker wire adapters for speaker upgrade. But the wire length was about two inches too short. I had to reroute the factory wire from it's original placement, to a different route to allow for the connection to be made.
Pros: The right connectors for the speaker replacement, in my wife's Toyota!
Cons: But the wires were too short, necessitating the moving of factory wire secure tag. Could be longer in length, by two inches.

The speakers connectors are wrong for the stock connector
justin from NE on 5/15/2016
2011 Kia Forte5
The connectors that were provided to connect my new speakers to the stock wiring are no where close to being the same. I checked with the website again and the part number they gave me is the one they say will fit perfectly. The only reason i bought aftermarket speakers was due to the fact that it came with the adapters so i wouldn't have to cut any wires. I checked metra's website and it says there only good up to model year 2013 kia forte. The 2014 to 2016 kia forte is a completely different car. So they sold me speakers that are now worthless.
Pros: None
Cons: They don't work for a 2014 to 2016 kia forte.

Backwards for 2011 Kia Optima SX base audio system
Slippin Jimmy from Minneapolis, MN on 5/1/2016
2011 Kia Optima
These sounded like a great idea and was happy to get them for free with my speaker purchase but was let down when I found out the POS+ and NEG- leads were backwards for the 2011 Kia Optima. Following the factory plug to the factory speakers I realized that these were reverse polarity from what i needed. The Plug fit the factory harness properly but I still needed to splice into them and switch the leads. It seems as they were falsely confirmed to fit this vehicle model. A Big overlook on the research dept. Would have given five stars Easy if these were indeed plug and play as advertised. Keep in mind these will still run a speaker but it will be running in reverse polarity or 180 degrees out of phase which i believe has a negative effect on low frequencies ie. pull instead of push. Not really a good thing.
Pros: It's better to splice into these cheap adapters than to cut the factory harness up.
Cons: Had to splice/reverse polarity on these adapters between the speaker and the factory harness plug. [Speaker]--[spade connectors]--[splice/crimp]--[connector]--[factory connector] If that makes sense.

Worked, but beware of polarity
Fred from Tennessee on 3/5/2015
2015 Kia Sorento
From the physical perspective these work fine, you just plug them in and connect your speakers to the cables. Once I finished and replaced the rear door covers I found the sound was flat and hollow, I discovered they invert the phase of the speakers, so my front speakers were not in phase with the rears. If you replace all your speakers at the same time and use the adapter, then you will have no issues as all speakers will be in phase. At the end I decided to remove the harness and use the cables that came with the speakers.
Pros: Easy match to your original speaker connectors
Cons: These invert the phase, as it has polarized speaker terminals you cannot reverse them. If you change all your speakers at the same time there is no problem using these connectors.

Brian J from Conroe, Texas on 8/30/2014
2011 Kia Sorento
These wiring harnesses were great. Crutchfield made sure they fit my vehicle. The only issue that I had was that the colors of the wires were backward to how my 2011 Sorento was wired. The instructions for the harness did not indicate that there may be a need to swap the wires. But, the clips have access points for removing each wire and swapping their positions. I spent more time getting the wiring diagram for the Sorento, since the wire colors were not obvious as to which was positive and negative (green, yellow, orange, red).
Pros: Great alternative harness for replacing the factory ones.
Cons: Wired backward to vehicle.

Plugs fit my santa fe
TonyM from Duluth,GA on 2/8/2014
2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
The plugs are a perfect fit for my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Only two issues: 1. All aftermarket speakers have their sockets on the back while my OE speakers had a side front mounted socket. I had to bust out my old speaker and mount my new speaker on the outer frame of the old speaker and drill a hole through the old socket to allow the new plug to go through. 2. My rockford fosgates have different sizes for the quick disconnects than what this plug has. I will have to modify the quick disconnects so they will fit. My JBL's are a perfect fit on a side note.
Pros: Socket fits into Original speaker plug.
Cons: Quick disconnects are too small for certain after market speakers. (Like rockford fosgate)

Not Needed, Not Long Enough
BrianW from Atlanta, GA on 5/2/2012
1998 Toyota Camry LE
I used this in a late build 1998 (i.e. wired more like a '99) Camry door installation. The harness is way too short to reach from the speakers to the Camry wiring connectors. Another review states the harness was only 4-6" too short, but in my Camry it needed about another 24 inches. I ended up cutting off the big white plastic connectors and splicing the spade connectors to the old factory installed harness. Alternatively, I could have spliced the spade connectors/wires that came with my new speakers to the existing factory wiring and not used the Crutchfield harness at all. Unless your Camry didn't come with speakers in the doors or your speakers didn't come with any wiring, this kit is not really needed, and in any case it is way too short. That said, it came free with my speakers, so I wasn't out anything other than some time, solder and electrical tape.
Pros: The connector looked like it would fit my Camry wiring harness, but I didn't test it.
Cons: 24" too short for a late build 1998 Camry door installation. (Another review states only 4-6" too short for a 98, so mine may be more like a '99)

Nice, but did not fit
Rich from Boston, MA on 6/7/2011
This style connector has saved me a lot of time in the past, but these ones did not fit the front door of my 98 camry at all. The plug was nothing like the stock plug in the car and the wires were 4-6" too short anyway. These look like they will work on my rear speakers, but definitely not the front. I have no idea why toyota would have designed this way or why this product is advertised for both front and rear speakers.
