Used on a 2017 Subaru wrx, rear. Fits well enough, not perfect as there's a small gap between the bracket and one of the mounting holes. I was still able to screw it in, just making sure not to tighten too much so that the bracket doesn't bend a lot. Fits my 6 3/4" speaker fine.
Pros: Aligns correctly Fits speaker
Cons: Fitment isn't PERFECT, but it's good enough.

Screw mounts are slightly off. These are not a direct copy of factory mounts to the door, only a close copy. It works but one is close to not catching the screw and massaging must be done. Other than that they are very good. Mounting holes for speakers should be left out to allow the user to drill as needed. The holes are too large for most included screws and holes must be drilled anyway. Speaker depth is close to factory allowing proper foam to be used for seal inside door panel.
Pros: Factory depth for most speakers.
Cons: Mounting holes should be left out and factory door mounts.

Need a better option
Christopher from Grand Prairie, TX on 1/18/2023
2016 Subaru WRX
This bracket does not fit well with the 2015+ WRX. As stated in the description it only goes up to the 2014 model. I was able to make it fit with screws just barely touching the tabs which are about a quarter inch too short. You don't need to drill the frame like others mentioned just get the orientation correct by looking at the one speaker. The bracket is also somehow too large and even though it is sitting flush with the screws there is about a half an inch gap on one side between the bracket and door frame. Im going to purchase stinger roadkill rings to try and fill the gap. This bracket is clearly not made for this car. I had zero issues with the front install.

Cons: Fit is off Tabs are too short

These fit alright. Installed a Rockford Fosgate P165-se kit in my 2005 Subaru Outback XT. The aftermarket speakers are 6.5" and the Mounting Brackets say you only need to break the inner tabs off to fit 6 3/4" speakers. Which you actually have to break off the inner tabs to fit 6.5" speakers and I still had to bend the mounting brackets to mount the speakers and the holes still were not lined up very well. I still got them to work and they work pretty decently.

Eric from SONORA, CA on 4/7/2021

As far as an OEM speaker adapter for a 2010 Subaru Outback goes, it's doesn't get much better than this. Removing the internal tabs (per the instructions) fit my Rockford Fosgate T2 6.5's perfectly. The screws that came with the speakers were slightly longer than the depth of the adapter itself which actually worked to my advantage. I drilled holes into the sheet metal behind the adapter ring which allowed the speaker screws to bite not only the plastic speaker ring but also the sheet metal. I'm throwing at least 150 watts to the speaker (Bi-Amped Rockford Fosgate T1000-4) and the adapter doesn't flex or give. Plus the 6.75" fast ring fits right over the top. All and all, whether they're free with your speaker purchase or you buy them yourself, having them for a 2010 Subaru Outback is a no brainer.

They did work for my 2010 subaru forester in the fronts and for the rears. I ordered rear speakers for the rear and crutchfield sent schoche brackets and they don't line up. Had to drill a hole for third screw. The metra ones work very well and line up perfectly even though you figure out were they line up. Fit perfect. For my car I did have to fill in a few gaps to get a good seal. But other than that I was pretty happy with metra.
Pros: Pretty easy to use.
Cons: Sealing, and it is very little sealing for my car between adapter and door.

I was able to re-use the factory mounting locations and screws in my 09 Subaru forester to mount new 6.5" drivers. It would be nice if they came with gaskets, i just used some weatherstripping i had laying around. I did have to cut off all of the tabs on the inside so my speakers would fit in them. perhaps they are meant to fit smaller speakers as well. No biggie, just snipped them off with wire cutters and cleaned up with a file.

These will fit both front AND rear doors in a 2013 Subaru Legacy. Also, don't be fooled by Crutchfield's notes about the 2013 Legacy, it will require these brackets if you buy 5 1/4" speakers for the rear door. Fits car slots, not speaker
Sid from West Palm Beach, FL on 12/1/2018
2007 Subaru Forester
As a universal adaptor, it works. It has the correct outside diameter and slots that match the screw holes in the car. The 6 1/2" speaker I used is slightly oversized compared to the factory fittment but Crutchfield indicates good fit. The factory housing this replaces was angled to point towards the listener - this does not. The bracket has tabs that allow it to work with 5 1/2" speakers so those get snapped off. The 8 holes around the perimeter have molded tubes so the provided screws will bite into and hold. These holes were not outboard enough for my speakers, so the speaker baskets needed to be slotted about .200" each hole. This plastic is soft enough to be easy to use so screw torque is light - started pulling though the plastic at about 10 inch-pounds. Supplied screws are long so they have to be trimmed to get the bracket to fit flat against the door panel. So, a little disappointed in the soft material, neutral angle, and mounting holes - but it did allow me to install my speakers using this as a base and modifying the speakers instead of creating a proper bracket from scratch.
Pros: Universal
Cons: Requires modifications to speaker basket Not angled like factory fittment Soft material can't take much screw torque

So they worked for me with a bit of modification.

worked well in 2009 Outback. holes lined up with the door mounting holes. as far as mounting the speakers onto these adaptor rings and with most rings I would ignore the holes that some with these and instead line up the speaker so that you can fit the speed clips, install them, and screw into them instead. once you have a good orientation for the speaker and the clips are all snapped on go ahead and predrill small holes through the clips and screw in the speakers. those metal speed clips are going to hold better. the screws that come with new speakers are generally too long so either pick up some shorter screws or dremel off the ends of the screws to the whole assembly can sit flush with the door. finally drill a hole in the top side of the bracket so you can route the wire. the factory plug on the front doors is on the interior side of the door. this bracket does not have that hole predrilled. and don't forget your foam gaskets
Pros: lines up perfectly with factory door holes requiring no drilling on door proper depth to mate with door and give rear clearance
Cons: missing side hole for running speaker wire to the inside of the door

Speaker adapters

2010 Subaru Outback
Fit my 2010 Subaru Outback like Crutchfield said, Metra's website said it didn't. Needed to snap off all the mounts inside the main assembly which took a minute to figure out. Feels like decent material that will hold up. Now the down side, the mounting holes required some strange angles since they didn't line up with the holes in my Focal speakers very well. Also the website (Crutchfield and Metra) mentions it comes with 8 screws, the bag did not list them on the contents and it didn't come with them, so I had to use the Focal screws which were too long for this adapter, so the hang out of the bottom, but mounted my speakers at least. I would've simply gone to buy more appropriate screws if my car hadn't already been disassembled when I realized this. Other than this they do what their job is.
Pros: - Solid material - Fits as advertised
Cons: - No screws included - Holes misaligned for my speakers

These speaker brackets worked great in my 13' Subaru Legacy. They gave my kicker speakers the mounting surface they needed plus the door panels still fit perfectly.
