2006 Pontiac Solstice
This face plate looks absolutely amazing! The only issue I had was that the original faceplate had flat stabs that fit into a flat slot for alignment. This faceplate has a round peg. Last time I was in kindegarden, round pegs did not fit in flat slots. I stared at the situation for about 39 seconds, then snapped the pegs off after realizing the 4 screw holes in the faceplate would achieve the same outcome as far as alignment. Sure enough, the dash fit around the faceplate PERFECTLY and there was no compromise in strength.
Pros: Factory finish, easy to install, holes line up perfectly with threaded holes in dash
Cons: Comes with round positioning pegs to fit into a round hole in dash. This will hold unit in place as you install the 4 screws. In some cars, this is a flat stab and if so you will need to remove the peg flush to the back of the faceplate so that it will install flat as the peg does not fit in the slot.

Overall this is a nice dash kit and matches the factory black plastic well. It does line up the radio quite well once you get the necessary trimming done (simple wire cutters work well). One star off only because for my 2008 Saturn Sky it mentions needing to cut off the top "ears" on the main frame piece (true) but doesn't also mention that you need to cut off the rear alignment circle on the right hand side. The dash has an alignment hole on the left, but just a slit on the right so the included circle doesn't fit.
Pros: Good match for factory plastic Aligns the radio well Easy to cut when needed
Cons: Instructions are incomplete Left and right can be ambiguous

Would not recommend using in a 09 HHR at all had to cut so much away from the back of the dash just to get the rcas to barely fit then when I go to button it up it will not latch at the top whatsoever I dont know what im going to do as this is like the only kit for my vehicle

Used this kit to install a DD in my Cobalt. Instructions said to remove the top tabs, but this was not required at all, so those with a Cobalt need not bother. Instructions were clear and easy to follow, removal of my old stereo and installation of my new stereo (minus prepping the wiring harness) took maybe 20 minutes.
Pros: HU has a sophisticated DSP with all the features you average lister could need. The App allows for a 31-band EQ
Cons: Wish it had a rear USB instead of the front USB.

Not experienced with other makes. This kit fit as needed. Flat finish. Actually need a piano black (high gloss) finish. First install was upside down. Clipped more (than instructions indicated) pins and corrected the upside down fit. Was overall easy to work with.

Fits the boss bv850 fine. Had one issue, there is a locating pin on this adapter but my vehicle (2009 Pontiac solstice gxp) had a slot. I just cut the pin off this unit and then screwed in the head unit without issue. This however caused some confusion on figment at first until I realized it was hitting the pin.

This doesn't really help you line up the stereo in the dash before putting the trim back on. This leads to a lot of extra disassembly and reassembly to get it right. After 2 attempts, it's still not right and I'm frustrated. The dash won't go back together correctly without more adjustment.

It works, only 4 stars because there is a color difference (I was tempted to get black so it was obviously different instead of "trying" to fit in. Overall a good product and the color variance is more likely attributed to fading on my 14-year-old dash than the product itself... Just wanting to notify potential future buyers that the color could differ a bit depending on the age of your car.

End result looks great. Needed to clip off some pieces to make it fit with the underlying bolt bracket. I also shaved the inside bezel to make the stereo be more flush with the front and tilt towards the driver to reduce glare. Chevrolet HHR

This was to be installed in a 2008 Saturn Sky Redline. Not sure where the fail is here, but according to Crutchfield and the product description, this dash kit should fit and match GM car's dash color and texture... not even close. The pictures provided by Crutchfield or the manufacture on this site, show a granular gloss black texture, which would match perfectly. This kit is flat black and absolutely smooth, nothing like the description or pictures on this site. I don't think I have ever seen a smooth dash in any automobile. Also, if I were to use this kit to install my new head unit, there would be an 1/8" gap on the right and left sides between the head unit and the install kit face plate that is very visible and you can see through to the inner dash compartment. Very upsetting... I need a nurse to care for my wife when I am not taking care of her. I arranged for a nurse to care for my wife while install my new equipment tomorrow and it is too late to cancel the nurse. Since I am unable to use this kit, I won't be installing the new unit tomorrow like I planned. On top of the money I spent on all my new stereo equipment, I am out $150 I had to pay for a nurse and then repeat that expense once I find the correct install kit. Because this install kit is incorrectly described, it is costing me an extra $150 on top of whatever the correct kit costs. I won't buy from Crutchfield again. Costly lesson, buy in person so you can see what you are getting.

I'm very impressed with the fit and finish of this kit. Being use to other brands, I was expecting a wobbly radio and basic black. Yeah, the description claimed it's painted to color match my interior, but I figured that was regular advertising fluff. Boy was I mistaken. The kit was very easy to assemble, and it was most certainly color matched. Even the texture matched the factory radio face! When it was all said and done, the install looked every bit as good as factory.

Cons: It's so easy the instructions are almost a waste of paper.

Pretty solid dash kit. It fits well and was easy to mount to both the car and to the head unit. I had to cut off a tab that wasn't in the instructions, the right side has an alignment notch that did not fit my Pontiac Solstice, so I had to cut it off and line up the dash kit by hand. The screw holes were well-placed, so this was easy. I used a sharp knife to knock of the tab, it was easy to do.

Trim kit looks great, and appears to fit my 2006 Saturn Vue perfectly; however, it's technically not a double-DIN sized kit and did not fit my stereo. The trim kit's dimensions are only 6-13/16" W x 3-13/16" H; however, the technical double-DIN size is 7" x 4", which is what my stereo is. Would have been nice if this was listed in the product details. I contacted customer service for a return.

2007 Chevrolet HHR
I bought this for my 2007 Chevy HHR LT (non-pioneer system). I used it to install a double din Kenwood DDX573-BH touchscreen radio. My only complaint is that you need to cut the two top tabs off of the install plate for it to work in the HHR. I had to use wire cutters to do it, and it ended up lookin a little janky, which isn't good because I have OCD about doing clean installations. Also, it was a different color from the plastic in my car. This kit is black, and the plastic around the radio is a dark gray, so it doesn't look right.

Everything looked good until I placed the Kenwood head unit through the new plastic mounting frame. The head unit does not protrude far enough forward through the faceplate, It is recessed and looks like a bad install. I'll have to physically cut the brand new mounting kit to make the head unit fit. Not happy about this since I wanted a clean install.

Had to modify the bezzle to fit the radio. Not sure if the radio may be slightly larger than the 2Din advertised or if bezzle was smaller. Two tabs on top of bezzle had to be cut off to allow trim pannels of dash to be reinstalled. It looks propper to the car but not sure if its the right one for the car do to mods that had to be done.

Cons: Several mods had to be made to ensure fit. Also lacks screws to mount radio into bezzle.

Purchased for a '04 Chevrolet Malibu. I am pretty happy with this kit. Like other Metra products I've owned, the finish is very similar to the factory parts and fits in nicely. The product includes printed instructions for taking apart the dashboard, which are very well illustrated and written.
Pros: -Matches factory color & finish or other console parts -Good build quality -Detailed instructions
Cons: -Some vehicles will require modification of this product in order to fit. I didn't have to do that, so I don't know exactly how difficult it is.

Pros: Clean looking installation.
Cons: With the Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS, the face of the unit just hits the top of the opening when it moves down to load or unload CDs. Sometimes it binds enough that you have to help it close by pushing on it slightly.

I was a little skeptical when I saw that everything was made out of plastic, but I was pleasantly surprised. Fit was good and mounting was solid. Worked good with the mounting screws that came with my Pioneer receiver.
Pros: Worked great! Fit was good. Instructions were adequate.
Cons: Left a small crack all the way around the pioneer receiver. Not very noticeable.

Using in 2008 Chevrolet HHR. Nice kit heavy duty kit. Matched HHR dash perfectly. Only problem was that with the particular radio I was using (Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS) it didn't provide enough room for the motorized screen to open to expose the DVD/CD slot. I tried adjusting it several times and even made the holes oblong so I could extend the radio out a little more. I got it to work sometimes and sometimes it would still get jammed. I ended up getting the Scosche kit which worked OK with my particular radio.
Pros: Nice Plastic, matched HHR dash perfectly.
Cons: Didn't work for my particular radio as opening was a little too tight.

I installed this on my receiver on the kitchen table, then found that I had installed it upside down. There were 2 plastic pegs on the trim panel for the face that need to be lined up with those below the top screws. No big deal, but I had to re-do the installation on the receiver. The trim itself makes the unit look like a factory job, especially since I re-painted my scratched up dash trim panels with some satin black spray paint before re-installing them
