Metra 95-6511 Dash Kit

When I purchased the Metra dash kit, I expected an awesome, quick, and easy installation for my Jeep Wrangler. While the installation was indeed quick and easy, the overall experience fell short of my expectations. To make the Kenwood DMX 809S fit flush, I had to make significant modifications to the brackets, which was unexpected and frustrating. Crutchfield recommended this kit as a good match for my vehicle, but I strongly disagree based on the extra work required.

Absolute trash for JKU install

No sure why Crutchfield even offers this. Came in the install bundle I purchased for my daughter's 2013 JKU Sahara. Left horrible looking gaps that were big enough to see into the dash. Called tech support and his answer was "maybe you could cover the gap with some black tape". Had me send a photo and told me that's probably as good as it gets. In my opinion, this trash product ruined the entire install. Why Crutchfield, why?

Does not fit pioneer unit into Jeep JK dash.

Jeep wrangler JK trying to install Pioneer touch screen stereo unit. Like all the other reviews. This kit leaves a large gap at bottom of the unit from not being able to mount the stereo out far enough.

Great fit

Ordered this dash kit for my 2008 Jeep Commander, fit very nicely. I like that the dash trim locks into the sides too, makes the whole setup feel more stable

Not impressed - but stuck with no other option.

Not impressed with this product. I had do do some major mods to get this to fit properly (both on the head unit and into the center console bezel). Luckily, it's not my first install and I'm handy with a Dremel. Seems like there's not other options out there! Can you say monopoly?

Fits well

The bracket I purchased from another vendor did not fit my vehicle. The guy at Crutchfield specified this bracket. It fit my car. It still left a little gap on either side of the radio. That may be intentional because of the radio's button design. I would have preferred that the gap be just a little smaller, but I can live with it.

I was affraid of this

This item is a cheesy non fitting item for a 2012 Ram 2500 with a Kenwood receiver. The head unit is sunk back from front bezel about 1/2" exposing the trim cut out and leaves gaps. I would drill new holes but no structure would remain as already 10 slide holes and nothing lines up with the Kenwood when sitting in dash correctly. This type of hoaky look is what kept me from upgrading the head unit in the first place. My choice to up grade was the result of failed blue tooth on the factory unit and additionally wanted CarPlay. I'll be looking around for an option to the Metra 95-6511..

Bad product for my particular vehicle and setup.

I own a 2011 Ram 1500 SLT and out of my entire order this was the only thing that caused issues. Nothing lined up properly and the pieces that screw into the sides to cover the gap didn't even come close to lining up or covering the gap. Crutchfield itself is a 5 star company with 5 star customer service, but this particular product for my particular vehicle is not. I had to go with an aftermarket part I found online that installed flawlessly. The first photo in this review is the part from here and the 2nd photo is the part from the big online retailer.

This worked well, although I have two issues: The trim pieces that frame the sides of the receiver could just as well snap in instead of those tiny screws, which are hard to handle. Also, I could not find ANY information anywhere on whether my stereo was a long or short nose stereo. I guessed and had to take it apart and redo with the other pieces. It should be simpler than that.

Gaps and weak...

Used this to install a Kenwood Excelon DPX795BH in a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Even with the wider trim pieces there is a wide gap between the kit and the receiver. The instructions say to discard the metal support bracket that not only supports the OEM receiver but also the screw for the dash trim panel under the tray. The leaves just the front plastic mounts to support the receiver. You can cut the bottom side of the bracket out and use a long zip tie to hold the receiver up, highly recommended especially if you go off road and/or have mounts that attach to the screw under the tray.

Does not fit well with a JVC installing in a Wrangler

I tried to use this with a JVC head unit, installing in a 2016 Wrangler. The trim pieces stick out about 1/2 inch from the face of the radio and the dashboard. This also leaves a 1/8 inch gap between the bottom of the radio and the dashboard. I tried using both the short and long nose trim pieces and neither worked very well. I switched to a Scosche install kit and it fits much better

Janky fit, missing screws

What a total piece of garbage. This will go straight in the trash once I find one that fits better as this piece of junk is not worth having in your car. The side fillers are not the right widths, They are both too skinny/made incorrectly for the fitment of this dash/head unit. They will somewhat work however that would require the use of 4 screws to hold them in place that were not included with the kit. It only had 6 screws to hold the main brackets to the sides of the head unit. Then it is designed to have 4 more screws that hold the side filler panels to the main brackets. These were not included. Without them they just fall out. So this is garbage.

Make sure you remove the aftermarket bezel from the unit or the mounting bracket looks crooked! (Oops) after an hr of trying it different ways I saw the bezel. Worked like a charm

I wish I had seen that the bezel came off the Boss unit before this was installed. I was trying to figure out how to make this fit flush for about 15 minutes before it occurred to me that the bezel around the screen could be removed. It had been a long day, but boy did I feel like a knucklehead!

This peice was very nessasary to mount the stereo into the 2012 RAM 1500. However the instructions weren't really clear on how to do so. The plastic also seemed a little flimsy to me. But worked out in the end. Good fit. I don't think it's going anywhere.

The only option

This dash kit was the most frustrating part of the project. There are not many holes that lined up with the pioneer unit so the Pioneer deck is sitting back, recessed about a 1/2" deeper than it should be. Looks stupid but oh well. And the holes that share a sliver of plastic between them, what were they thinking? Even if you're careful, the screws just pull straight through.

Works perfect, mounts easy and lines up with factory screw points great. Only issue I have is with the cheap finish pieces that go on the side. They don't fully fill the gap and the way they atta h is cheap and doesn't have a firm seat.

This kit is flimsy and the side plates to make it "fit" secure with screws that have maybe a half twist of threads. I had to go up a size screw and grind it down to fit thr shallow fit. The kit is honestly worth less somehow.

Plastic garbage

These side brackets from Metra are absolute plastic garbage. When I'm dropping $1000 on a new stereo setup, I would expect Crutchfield to offer something with more of a premium look and feel than this. These are flimsy and even the side mounting portions (that attach to the actual radio itself) are littered with optional holes for mounting which are drilled way to close together. Note to Crutchfield: Find a better supplier for something that is made of METAL and one that has a premium look to complement the dash. These look like absolute crap in my Jeep, but Crutchfield literally offers nothing else. I already have the Alpine Jeep JK Wrangler version (from the JK Restyle kit of the i407) on backorder from another supplier.

Metra 95-6511 Dash Kit

Lots of modification needed to the gap filler pieces to get the radio to sit flush in the opening of my 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Had to dremel off about a 1/4" of the gap filler pieces to have the radio positioned correctly. The support bracket holes didn't seem to line up perfectly but it was plastic so there was some flexibility in making it work. Overall, the kit worked but it required some fiddling to make it work well.

Purchased this Dash Kit with the Boss BE62CP audio system for my 2013 Jeep Wrangler. It took my son and I 5 hours to install this system. The dash kit offers many possible options for mounting the Audio system to my dash. We tried several different variations and finally found an acceptable mount (it's not a perfect fit but I'm ok with it.). There are no instructions with this item so you need to have some ability to think logically on how to mount your unit.

2012 JK Wrangler

It works and looks good, was by far the longest part of the install getting all the parts in the exact perfect position. 0.5mm off and your dash panels won't line up correctly

Metra 95-6511 Dash Kit

Really cheesy cheap instal kit. Plastic was soft and hardly any instructions. Almost didn't fit had to pry the soft plastic side pieces just to make it fit in my factory bezel. It fit but had the plastic been firm it wouldn't have splayed out like it did

Good kit. I do wish it was a bit more durable. The screws for the side pieces stripped almost immediately with no pressure on them. Had to rummage to find some one size up. Otherwise. No complaints

Great Fit for factory apperance

The product does a great job and providing a factory fit. The only complaint is that the ends were not well marked and I had to guess at which one I would need to use. As with most of my choices I choose the wrong ones and had to replace them with the thinner ones.

5 stars if it fit without modification.

I think the product was quite good. I had to shim it and elongate the mounting holes but that was likely the fault of the cheap stereo. ( Not from Crutchfield)

Hot garbage. Use schosche's version or fabricate your own.

Instead briefly in a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with Alpine system. Replaced factory base radio. This bracket is hot garbage. Requires you to use the screws that comes with the radio instead of coming with screws that fit the mount properly as well as poor quality/design causes the extremely short screws that are supplied for trim pieces to strip the plastic where the trim pieces attach on left and right side almost immediately. This really should be one piece instead of multiple for each side. I would suggest not wasting money and fabricating your own or using another brand such as Scosche.

perfect for my 2012 ram 1500.the meyta kit made the radio fit great. the rear camera made driving in reverse easy.much better than the existing camera.shipping was spot on .just 2 days will shop with Crutchfield!!
