Looks great and fits well. My only comment (doesn't really even rise to "complaint") is the stock liner of the top tray is a tad bigger than the tray on this so it doesn't sit perfectly flat. Not a big deal at all, though. The vents don't clip in as securely as the stock dash, too, but again, not a big deal.

Great kit! Looks fantastic in the TJ. I was really impressed with how well it fit and went together. It basically looks like a stock replacement of the OEM. I probably need to remove and see if I can adjust the stereo a little to the left and up, I was just too tired and hot the night I did it.

Perfect fit

I swapped out the factory head unit in my 04 Rubicon to a Pioneer DMH-2660NEX with this dash kit and overall I'm very happy with it. The fit and finish is excellent and it feels less flimsy than the factory dash it replaced.

Great Product

Being as though I needed a new center bezel and they don't make them anymore AND.. I needed a new radio, this baby was a win win! I got a brand new center bezel and a brand new double din touchscreen Bluetooth radio in my 05 Jeep Wrangler now. It's a beautiful thing! This unit was well made and honestly got perfect. No trimming, no modifications needed. Great product.

This thing blends right in with the original dash and fits very well. It was actually a bit of an upgrade for me because the previous owner had screwed various accessories into this part of the dash. Nice replacement.

Perfect replacement for this century's radios :)

Perfect replacement to fit in my new Boss CarPlay radio. Finish is exactly like factory and fits exactly like the factory piece. Just snap in the old A/C vents and move the clips and it's in. The top shelf is a different size than factory so the OE rubber mat doesn't fit exactly as the factory piece did but close enough that we still use it. Take out the factory radio anti-theft support bar (two screws) to fit in your new radio and life will be so much easier pushing in the harness.

Great upgrade

All in all a great unit for putting a double DIN in your Jeep. I had to put a couple washers as spacers under the air conditioning controls for a flush fit, but otherwise fit very well. You need to be comfortable with tools as there is some cutting of the original dash required. The side brackets that come with it are complete trial and error to get the stereo centered in the opening. So patience is needed.

Almost...

Fits great in the Jeep dash. However the A/C bosses are the wrong size. The factory ones are .395 and .475 diameter where this units are all .410. This allows the vents to be very loose. I made bushing to increase the two larger bosses so the vents would fit correctly. Also the 2 #6 x 3/8 screws were missing. If my replacement radio was any deeper the upper dash support would have to be trimmed.

very easy

perfect fit for my jeep TJ , made install very easy, had to transfer ac vents which was easy. Trick is there are two small screws with kit, so when you open find screw right away, i had to find screw in garage to replace, then found them in the carpet in the den. Also when adding vents, place on a towel, i scratched my dash piece on a card table.

Requires a little fitting

When you remove the old dash, you will see that there is an area where the old stock stereo used to sit inside of. This area has a shelf directly below it that is made out of plastic which makes up the framework of the inner Dash . The stock stereo is 1.5 DIN height and you will need to cut out the plastic shelf that sits right below the stock stereo to make it 2 DIN in height. Best way to do that is to use a hacksaw blade by itself and cut slowly. Once the shelf is cut out you will need to shave down the plastic molding on the upper portion of the stereo opening that is also part of the dash framework. This will stop your deck from going in if you don't shave it down. Once thats done you have enough room to fit a 2 DIN stereo in. That surgery takes a little time so dont rush it or you will end up with a hacked up internal dash.

Used this with a Kenwood Excellon and it was hitting the bottom edge of the stereo. Had to slot the included brackets to move the stereo up 1/8". The texture is not quite the same as original but close. I painted mine as I had a silver center stack on my TJ. Looks good and I happy with the fit now.

Fit was perfect and install was easy. Would have liked it better if the tray on top actually held the phone. First time around the corner, out went the phone. Not expecting a crazy upgrade over the stock item, but the stock item was made in 98-06 and cells phones weren't as important as they are today. A nice grip base or even a larger bay would made this a 5 star. Also disappointed that I had to salvage the old clips. Four new clips would have been nice.

Good product, but not a 'plug and play' installation

Will start by saying this is the most substantial (solid) dash kit I've ever installed (have done 3 or 4 of our personal vehicles over the years). I mean, it's nearly as heavy as the OEM part it replaces. Fits perfectly, and is very solidly secured. Absolutely looks like a factory installation. I'm docking a star because, again, there is no mention of the fact that you will have to mount your radio to the dash support, then install this dash kit over it. Depending on your specific radio, it may take 20 tries to get the "stickout" just right -- so when the dash kit goes over the radio, it neither hits the face or leaves a huge gap. On my particular installation (a Pioneer DMH-1500NEX) the supplied mounting brackets for the radio were not as tall as the radio itself. So do they go flush with the top of the radio? Flush with the bottom? In the middle? This introduced the element of the radio not fitting vertically -- as well as dealing with the "stickout" issue. I was very lucky -- it was a perfect fit the fourth time I completely removed the kit, adjusted the location of the mounting brackets, and re-installed it. I also had to trim a lot more than the directions suggested I would. Not just the 'shelf' that has to come out - had to trim the supports beneath the A/C vent - or else the Pioneer model I installed was not going far enough back into the dash to fit the kit correctly. Do yourself a favor and get a vibrating saw with a narrow blade for plastic

The plastic seems to be a little softer and more prone to scratching than the factory part. Nice fit overall--probably perfect for 97-02, but mine is an '04. Apparently Jeep changed the pivot pin design in '03 to avoid vent installation errors. In my '04, the pin on the left side of each vent opening is larger than the one on the right. This replacement bezel is made with both pins the same size--slightly larger than the small on on my '04. You could buy some earlier vents or, if you have access to a lathe, you can do what I did. I turned split Delrin bushings for the left side to get the correct fit. The pins in this bezel are about .406" diameter and you need about .475. Rather than make the bushing fit exactly, I drilled to .375" ID and turned to about .445" OD for the needed wall thickness and parted them off to about .150" long. Then I used a Dremel to cut a clearance slot for a rib on the back side of the pivot pin. With the undersized ID, these stayed on the pins nicely while the vents were snapped in.

This dash replacement kit is much cheaper than the original. Just in putting the two pieces together one of the tabs broke off. It wasn't the end of the world because we just used some eproxy to bound the two pieces together.

Nice way to upgrade your TJ to have a double din, supporting many newer/nicer head units. It looks pretty close to factory and functions fairly well. The only ding to the stars is that it isn't quite as flush as the OEM dash. It's about 1/4" off for me around the air control segment, but flush for the deck and rocker switch segments.

Used in my 2003 TJ to mount a double din receiver. Worked great overall. There is a small interior dash piece you will need to cut out, but that was not very difficult to do. Overall fit is great and I would highly recommend to any Tj owners.

Props to Metra for making this double din dash kit for the Wrangler TJs. It was almost a plug and play item minus the part where the inner dash trim piece has to be cut out. Everything is in details in the instructions showing how to do it. Make sure to remove and reuse the 4 clips that pops in place to the dashboard. Overall a great product and it really makes the old TJ interior more modern. Highly recommended. Fyi, i have the sony xav-ax100 reciever and wiring kit from crutchfield. All in one shop! Thanks crutchfield team!
