Metra 95-7882B Dash Kit

I used this to install a Sony head unit the head unit fits fine itself but this has a donkey fit to it it doesn't sit flush to the rest of the dash

Meh

Only two of three screws hold vent. Top of frame does not sit tight with dash. Hazard button is shallower than previous. JVC head unit fits opening slightly too small. Spent 20 minutes trying to get it centered perfectly to get rid of gap around unit, but couldn't. So, I spent another twenty minutes removing all the components to wrap the head unit and frame joint with electrical tape to hid the gap the head unit makes by being slightly too small. The JVC faceplate doesn't fit the opening which would have made this all unnecessary. This item should not have been approved for production.

The vent screw mount is in the wrong place. I was able to angle the screw and catch a few threads just to get it to stay, but it is not ideal. Also, the included metal brackets do not stay in place near the vent. I had to use the OEM brackets.

It works. The two plastic brackets shown mount to the bottom of the radio & should screw onto a support frame, but there is no place on the brackets to screw - it just sits on top of the bracket w/no actual connection. This doesn't affect my use and the stereo feels solid but heads up in case you need that extra support.

The faceplate is very nice, but the plastic mounting brackets make the instillation very loose and difficult to install.

Works, but not a great fit

I received this dash kit as part of my installation gear for installing a new head unit in my daughter's 2014 Honda Civic Si. As other reviewers have noted, the fit is not great. I found the brackets to be misshaped, and because they are plastic, I could not attach them to the factory rail to support the head unit from underneath. Also, when transferring my OEM equipment (i.e. the climate controls, hazard switch, and vent) to the Metra dash kit, I found that one of the vent standoffs was molded about 1/8" from where it should be, so I could only use 2 or the 3 screws to affix the vent to the dash kit. The top edge of the kit does not sit flush with the dash, but I have read a suggestion to use the factory metal clips (instead of the ones supplied by Metra) to rectify this issue. We'll see. The finish is okay (I was going to hydro-dip it anyway to match the OEM carbon-fiber-look trim), but the Metra kit is also missing the thin chrome strip between the head unit and the climate controls. I'll try the (apparently discontinued) Scosche HA1716B kit, which I hope will rectify most of these issues.

Metra 95-7882B Dash Kit

This was the only piece I had a problem with. The opening for the screen is too small. I had to do considerable fliling to make the screen fit. I had the tools and knowhow to do this but some may not. It is not difficult, just time consuming. It did fit nicely into the dash and looks great. Do not be deterred, it is easily doable with just a little effort. The end result was well worth the effort.

I WARN YOU, DO NOT BUY!

This has to be the most terrible, cheapest, piece of junk plastic. I made the mistake of ignoring the few bad reviews and getting this with my new stereo since Crutchfield suggested it. After hours of hooking up my new stereo and ready for the final stage of putting the trim piece on, IT DOESN'T FIT. It doesn't even snap into place. It doesn't line up at all, it's not even flush like the OEM is. Not only that, the 2 mounting "wings" that you're supposed to use the 8mm screw/bolt to fasten it down, yeah... that doesn't even line up with the holes AT ALL. It's all sorts of warped. I have buyer's remorse of everything I just purchased and now want to swap back to my OEM stereo because this "project" has frustrated me so deeply.

Good fit for the 2013 Honda Civic. The looks is average because of the plastic being matte/flat in color. It could have been nicer if it is OEM looking (shiny black)

The "Matte Black" finish is a rubbery dark grey and doesn't have the chrome piece going horizontally across the middle. I couldn't find anything else to use.

Very good dash kit

The kit fits the dash very well, the parts you take off the original radio dash piece fit perfectly back on to the kit. I like the matte finish, it looks good in the dash. The left side lower bracket on the bottom of the kit lined up with the hole for the mounting screw but I had to get both hands up in the dash to line up the foot of the bracket with the hole in the brace below the radio opening so I could run a screw into the bossed area on the bracket, although I did use a large coarse thread 1/4" hex head sheet metal screw on that side to get a better bite into the plastic screw mounting boss on the bracket itself. The right side bracket had a different and smaller bossed are on it for the screw and it did not line up very well with the hole for the screw on the brace. To make it work I cut off the bossed screw mount on the bracket, sanded it flush and put a Tinnerman clip (speed clip) on it, then it was easy to run a screw through the mount hole into the clip and tighten it all up.

Does not match interior color; doesn't fit well.

This trim piece does not match the factory color so now it looks like I have two different sides to my dash. The upper right corner keeps popping out and will not stay flush with the rest of the dash and it looks like an unprofessional install despite following the installation instructions. Also the Metra dash kit shows fingerprints and requires constant cleaning. I'm seriously considering returning the radio as I don't like how this installation fits.

Worst Dash Kit EVER

This is the worst car dash kit I have ever received from Crutchfield. The air vent and 4-way flasher button did not line up. The double DIN radio slot had rounded corners. That means the receiver face plate is NOT going to fit, and now you will have an ugly unfinished look to your install. The one screw post broke when I only had the screw half way in. The top of the dash kit did NOT sit flush with the dash. The color and finish on the dash kit were horrible.

Metra kit spot-on... mostly

Overall, the installation kit was a perfect physical fit for the OEM bezel unit - with two exceptions. First, the "mounting brackets" are some type of plastic - perhaps ABS, but doesn't seem like it - instead of metal. I guess to save cost of the overall install unit. And the "legs" of my brackets were slightly "warped" inwards towards the center of the receiver as if they'd been sitting somewhere hot. Made putting the lower 8mm screws/bolts back in much tougher just because of alignment problems the warpage caused. Second, although the faceplate was a perfect fit around the exterior, the opening cut-out for the receiver is, at least on my unit, just about 5/64" (credit card thickness) too large all around the screen of my Sony unit. Not so much that it's ugly - just noticeable enough that it looks like there might be some sort of "trim" piece missing around the face of the Sony unit. Don't get me wrong - it's no huge deal - just that "space" all around the screen where the new faceplate probably should have fit snugly. Other than these couple of oddities, the Metra dash kit's color and finish matches my interior perfectly - it really looks OEM.

Very disappointed

Very disappointed in this dash kit. Doesn't fit my car as I thought it would as it is not flush like factory one was. Clips don't stay snapped and kit looks warped.

2013 civic si dash kit

Good dash kit that allows installation of after market double din stereo/DVD head unit. Build quality seems good, only wish it matched the pseudo carbon fiber look of the original dash kit.
