Works perfectly and looks very clean. Matches the inside of my Subaru like it's supposed to be that way.
Pros: Fits exactly like the OEM
Cons: Depending on the stereo you get the new one can sit in a little more than I would like because it can't fit into the hole to flush up to the outer surface.

I purchased this to install a Kenwood Excelon DMX809S in my 2019 Subaru Outback. It matches the car's interior well, however, it resulted in my head unit being quite recessed into the dash. While not a big deal, I probably would happily give 5 stars if the head unit was more flush. I assume it's challenging to accommodate a number of different sized head units from different manufacturers.

Fits 2018 Legacy base model with additional kit!

Crutchfield is saying that this will not fit the 2018 Subaru Legacy 2.5i base model, and they are only half right. After doing some research on this very site, I found that the side mounting brackets from this kit are necessary as they have a spot to mount the module that sits under the factory stereo, which you absolutely need to plug back in if you want to be able to shift your car into gear among many other things! These fit perfectly in the base model. Unfortunately, the face plate does not fit as it's for the 8" Starlink stereo and not the 6.5" and is too tall. Luckily, the face plate from the Metra 95-8906 does fit. This is for the Legacy 2015 and up and fits perfectly. You cannot use the side mounting brackets from this kit though, as they do not have a spot for the module. Look at the pictures on Crutchfield from each kit and you'll see what I mean. I bought both of these on a hunch, just based on the info I knew of the 2 different factory stereos, and the pictures on Crutchfield and I'm so glad I did as Crutchfield is saying I need to "fabricate" a dash kit for the 2018 Legacy base model.

Cons: Need to buy additional Metra 95-8906 dash kit.
