Bought for my 2003 BMW X5. Fitment is was nice and tight. The finish on the plate is very nice. My only complaint is that it doesn't have any points for secure it to the dash. Overall happy with the kit.
Pros: Good fitment. Nice finish. Fairly priced
Cons: Doesn't have screws / points to secure to dash.

Great product, made for 2001-2006 X5, but I used the kit for my 2001 740i with a new double din shorty JVC/Kenwood.

Nice looking dash kit that looks good in my BMW X5 and veasy to install. Would have been nice to have a line in the faceplate to line up with the factory dash horizontal line (would look more custom). It holds radio firmly in place However there is no way to uninstall without removing trim plate using a plastic tool then cutting out the two side brackets screwed into the side of the radio from the front. You will notice there are no uninstall instructions that come with the kit. I even called Metra and customer service told me you must take the dash apart to push it out from behind but that is not possible because the BMW dash is not open behind the radio (it is surrounded in a hard plastic bucket to protect wiring). I also spoke to a friend of mine who is a professional car stereo installer and he told me to try to grab the brackets near the center and pull hard (I tried - no luck) or to cut it out but to be sure to put blue painters tape on the radio face first to protect it from scratches and pitting. I guess on the upside it would be very difficult for a thief to remove! BMW has a star screw you rotate 90 degrees to have a tab holding the stock radio move in so it is easily removed. Why couldn't Metra do the same? I would have paid twice as much for the kit if it had a key to remove. On the upside Crutchfield support has been Great. I have a defective radio with an intermittent problem (very rare), my luck. They told me to cut it out and are sending me a replacement kit.

Nice install kit. Would prefer something a bit more stock-looking.
Pros: Super easy to put together.
Cons: No real way to attach the kit to the factory opening.
